We visited today as a family of 8. We'd previously visited in March 2024 and had a wonderful experience then. Unfortunately, today wasn't like that at all. The restaurant was empty, there was only one other table with 3 people. So, the reason for the terrible food wasn't due to the restaurant being busy. The turkey lunch was really disappointing, small portion, looked lacklustre and tasted it. It felt like it was ready made and microwaved. For £16+ id expect better. The fish and chips was very small. The gammon wasn't gammon, it was a couple of slices of ham. I felt sorry for the waiting staff. It felt like they knew the food was below par. To be fair, the halloumi was good as was the children's chicken goujons. The puddings weren't great either. The treacle sponge had barely seen treacle and the ice cream was meh. Bring back your old chef!

Friday night dinner with some work colleagues. The ambience is excellent, the staff are very welcoming and friendly and the food is quite simply exceptional. A few changes have been made in the bar which improve the atmosphere and create a more modern country feel. 6 of us ate 3 courses each, we all had something different and not one dish was anything but great. The food is all freshly cooked from lovely local ingredients. I’d wholly recommend this bar to everyone.

Oh dear what a shame !!! We have so many lovely meals at the Bear over the years . We feared it would change with new owners but were assured with Josh , the chef , staying the food would remain at the superb standard. Our first visit, with new owners , they were literally in the middle of putting a new laminate floor down . Only half of this work had been done so there was two different levels to the floor . We saw a waitress very nearly trip over it , its a wonder customer weren’t too.We could see lots of the flooring equipment just pushed to the side of the room ,not even put away from public view. This time I’m pleased to say the meal was the same brilliant standard , Josh was still there. We returned a couple of weeks later , on the positive side the floor was now finished. Unfortunately we heard that Josh had left , but crossed fingers it would still be good . We waited for over an hour for a meal to arrive, portions were really small ,when serving the vegetables on your plate you had to be really careful not to take too much as there was three of us sitting together. The desert took about the same time to be served as our main course, it was also a much smaller portion than was usually served at the Bear. I had sticky toffee pudding, the sauce served with were three tiny blobs. We did notice ,who one of the staff seemed to know, a large table of diners seeming to have preferential treatment. They were served with their meal much quicker than us , their vegetable dishes seemed to be heaped up and they had a big serving of cauliflower cheese which was bought out ,it wasn’t mentioned on the menu. The member of staff serving it said it was chefs surprise. We left feeling we had been there for a long time mainly waiting . Unfortunately we are going to have to find another place favourite place as we won’t be returning to the Bear .

Called in today, quite late, 2pm, and found out it had new owners as of three hours earlier. The pub was very quiet, but that’ll be thanks to Worcestershire Highways placing road closed signs at the start of the road in Bransford and at the Powick end of the road, even though the pub is accessible from Bransford. As you’d expect after such a short period the menu was the same, but that’s a good thing as it’s a great menu. However, the new landlord and crew were as welcoming as the old ones and the food and drink sill top notch. So good luck to the new management and best wishes to the departing ones. We will still be returning regularly.

Our extended family has been meeting here for years for special occasions with up to 20 of us. Yesterday was Easter Sunday and they were fully booked, but having pre-booked and ordered ahead, we were brilliantly looked after, as always. The food was extremely tasty and the service was friendly and considerate. We had a three year old with us, but the table arrangement (around one long one) gave some space by the window away from other diners for her to play with various family members as we took our time over a very relaxed meal. One of us needed wheelchair access, which was also no problem, as the car could be brought near to the entrance. There’s a large car park, and although right out in the beautiful countryside, it’s very quick to get to from Worcester. On previous occasions we’veh sometimes been allocated a private dining room, which has been useful when part of the occasion has been for several family members to play instruments together! Thank you for another special meal!

We eat out on a regular basis and I have to say the food here is the best in the area. We had the king prawns, the goats cheese wrapped in filo and the garlic mushrooms as appetisers, they were fantastic, full of flavour and exquisite. For main course we had the Butternut squash with Mediterranean vegetables and feta cheese, it was excellent. We also had the spicy sticky beef with egg fried rice and homemade prawn crackers which was a good sized portion and again full of flavour. Our daughter had the buttermilk chicken burger which was freshly breaded and fried homemade strips of chicken with bacon and all the trimmings, it was piled high and a very generous portion. My wife and I eat out at least once a week. We visited the Bear and Ragged staff maybe 10 years ago and felt a bit underwhelmed so never went back. A cheeky little day off meant we decided to pop out for a Friday lunch and give this another try due to positive Trip Advisor reviews and wow. It was ridiculously quiet which is a shame as the landlord couldn’t have been more welcoming and the food and drink was some of the best we’ve had in years. Drinks wise I had the draught English Stout, can’t remember the name, but it gives Dublin Guinness a run for its money and my wife had a Pinot Grigio just £6 for a large glass. For food my wife had butternut squash filled with Mediterranean vegetables and Feta with a cheese sauce, and I had sticky chilli beef, egg fried rice and prawn crackers. The veggie meal was sublime and shows that with a bit of imagination vegetarian food can be simple and easy incredibly tasty. Mine was simply the best Chinese style meal I have ever had. Sticky, tender spicy beef with perfectly cooked vegetables, an egg fried rice an equal to the best Chinese restaurant if not slightly better and prawn crackers as good as they get.

Enjoyed a thoroughly lovely evening with my two girlfriends. We were impressed by the quality of the food and the service. At first glance, the menu comprised of traditional ‘pub grub’, but this did not fully reflect how delicious the home-cooked food would be! The staff could not have been more helpful, taking their time to make us feel welcome and explain some of the ingredients and cooking methods. There is some seating outside for summer weather. I would recommend booking as they are busy. The food was amazing. The plates were warm, the steak cooked perfectly, the chips were lovely and hot and the salad was good. The meals and desserts are home made so of course we had to try. Again we were disappointed. I went for a sticky toffee pudding with rum and rasin ice cream. The only reason I couldn't quite eat it all was I was so full, but it was great. Lovely dog friendly B&B, Martin was incredibly polite and accommodating and made us feel at home. Also a great cooked breakfast to wake up to. We will definitely come again, thank you Martin!

Last night myself and my fiance, plus exwork friends were making up a group of 6. We had booked for a pre Christmas catch-up. Well superb food and service! Excellent evening and then a few drinks after in the bar. The waitresses/ barman were attentive. Fantastic service and a wonderful evening. Thank you all 😀

Excellent Sunday Lunch backed up with friendly staff and chilled, cosy atmosphere. Found this gem on Google after meeting friends for a dog walk on Malvern Hill. Luckily we booked a table as it was busy inside and outside from beginning to end. It’s a very dog friendly pub but equally if the 4 legged fur ball isn’t your thing, it’s also good for a family gathering or date night! We all tucked into the roast, my only criticism was I like my beef rare and it was more like medium well but we were at the 3:00 sitting so the juicy bits already eaten. We shared a lemon basil tiramisu which was phenomenal and generous portion! We will definitely return when our calves allow us to move again!

Superb Sunday roast, excellent service and friendly welcome. Very modest prices and only a short hop to Castlemorton Common and Malvern Hills to build up an appetite or walk off the lunch. Worth pre booking especially for Sunday lunch. Dog friendly.

Visited for a Spa Day which included Afternoon Tea and decided to stay for dinner too. I have a milk allergy which they catered for extremely well. The Afternoon Tea and Fish and Chips we had for dinner were the best l have ever tried. I do dine out often and this food surpassed my expectations!!! The only let down was the waiter that served us at Dinner. There were two of us dining but he seemed to be oblivious to the fact that I was even there. Whilst serving he seemed to address my friend more which left me somewhat bewildered. At one point he even turned his back to me whilst telling my friend what specials were available! He also poured out my friends drink but did not do the same for me. His behaviour was very odd to say the least and I have never experienced such blatant ignorance before.
