We were in Colchester for a boutique Music Festival nearby. called in Friday night for some dinner. Very quiet, it was early, but the atmosphere was good, the staff friendly and helpful and the food excellent. Great value too and served promptly. The staff were preparing for their busy Friday night so we left them to it.

I absolutely loved this place. The atmosphere was amazing and so was the food. We had burgers and chicken wings both of which were fairly priced for the amount recieved. Jonhy was our server and he was very good- never let our drinks run out and always checking up if everything was fine. Overall a 10/10 experience.

Had a brilliant time at walkabout tonight as we enjoyed our delicious meals watching the Euros semi final. The burger I chose was fantastic and everyone else loved what they had ordered too. Thanks especially to Johnny who did an amazing job serving us today, making for an all round comfortable and very enjoyable experience.

I have been in the Walkabout bar in Colchester a few times recently. I was so impressed with the level of customer service I recieved that I had to give a review. I suffer from anxiety & other mental health issues to the point where I struggle when out in public. I went into Walkabout to have food as I was hungry but was anxious being in a pub/for the first time in a long time. The staff were so accomodating to my needs & kept me calm while I waited for food & talked to them. Although all the staff were great, I have to say that Ethan excelled in his customer service & went above & beyond in helping me with seating, calming me & showing me all options available for my meal. I have never received the customer service level I had in the Colchester Walkabout (especiallly from Ethan) anywhere else & it meant so much to me. Thank you for reading and I hope the staff at Walkabout, especially Ethan is acknowledged & appraised.

Great drinks and lots of big screens for sport

We booked a cocktail masterclass for a birthday celebration and we are all super impressed with the service. Johny hosted our class and he was super fun and made the whole experience amazing and made sure we were all laughing and having fun. I definitely recommend him when booking your class. We will definitely book this again in the future.

Walkabout in Colchester offers cheap drinks and a lively atmosphere, perfect for crowds. However, table cleanliness could be improved for a better experience.

Great atmosphere for premier league football match. Seating in tiered benches opposite the big screen adds to the genuine enthusiasm from fans. Nicely decorated and very relaxed. We didn't eat but what passed us by looked very appetising! Prices similar to other bars in the town centre and a great range of alcohol to choose from. The reason it got a liw overall rating was the state of the women's toilets. Disgusting. So bad we left after just 2 drinks. There are around 8 cubicles and almost all had an issue meaning I didn't want to use it. 1 - a cardigan left behind by someone 2 - a massive poo floating 3 - a puddle directly in front of the toilet bowl 4 - tampons empty wrappers and used!!!!! Everywhere 5 - no lock 6 - remnants of someone rolling 'cigarettes' everywhere So... that's my review!

We visited yesterday had great atmosphere watching rubgy. The place was so busy but we had a great time and had great service from Ethan.

The service from Ethan was spectacular, had a brilliant time watching the six nations. He was non stop, and provided great recommendations.

Ordered food from them which never arrived! The app said it was delivered! Dinner ruined. The answer from them was "driver collected it so it is not up to us anymore"! Seriously?! Surely as a business you want that to go smoothly from order placement to delivery so customers would come back? It's a shame a we liked the food we had previously but with that attitude how can you trust them again to handle your orders?! Not ordering again.

Went here for lunch and had an amazing buffalo chicken burger with just the right amount of sauce and spice. The chef working that day (Josh) was nice enough to recommend it to me. I'll definitely be back!

Came in the other day and ordered the loaded fries and they did not disappoint they were fresh with the perfect amount of topping. I asked for the cooks name ( which was Josh) so I could show my appreciation of the food quality I was given 10/10.

Love this place! Staff are amazing and the vibe is both relaxed and chilled.

Came here to watch the forest game, no one at the bar. Staff sat down in a big group chatting and laughing. We put an order for 2 drinks on the app. No one acknowledged it. Waited 15 mins and went to the pub for someone to get up from their group to serve us. Finally got our drinks. No one at the bar for over 45 mins. Ordered food for the wings to come out cold, we sent them back, for the girl to bring us the cold ones back out. Asked for a refund, the other lady behind the bar went to tell the kitchen and she came back out and said they made us new ones. The girl before didn’t even wait for new ones to be made she literally brought out the same cold ones we sent back. She was too busy sitting with her friends eating and drinking. Honestly the worst service ever. They really need to sort out their staff, especially when it comes to food hygiene and food safety. It’s all well and good and cheap employing students, but they don’t know what they’re doing nor do they care. People will get seriously ill from cold and re-heated chicken, it’s actually so gross.

TV screens are awesome, never not been able to see. The big screen with the seating at the back is great but as a rugby fan, lose this to the football often. Food is pretty good. Service not bad. Just wish the toilets and floor didn't feel so gross. You literally stick to the floor.

Came in for the women’s football it was England vs Colombia. Bar staff was very friendly and atmosphere was great. Thank you Jayde and Christie for taking your time to give me recommendations, I came in at 12pm only for one and only left at 8!😂 would like to give a big thanks to Phil the chef who cooked my tenders, they were splendid. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone, it’s been my regular bar for years. Can’t seem to leave 🤭

Shona is very polite and patient especially when it comes to dealing with customers at the bar on a night out. Walkabout is probably the only busy place in Colchester for a night out.

I love this place but the djs are the worst. Always playing stupid songs that we can never dance. I’ve seen people just sitting there couldn’t do nothing. Even if we request some songs they won’t play. Nice place but terrible worst music (dj) never go to this place if you want to dance

This WAS a cool place to eat with my son and watch some football. New menu is limited and offers no sharers, wraps or anything for kids. This eliminates Walkabout as a place to go in the future (and its the same for many others judging by how empty it was). The toilets have always been terrible and it's something to tolerate if you visit. Whoever thought MDF was a suitable material for toilets where people will be p**sing and puking all over the place needs to have their head rattled. They stink of acrid urine, and it will turn your stomach. Address these issues and Walkabout is a viable place to go during the day. I'm sure these issues won't affect their business at night. Edit: Staff are, and have always been really pleasant.

The service was good. Especially a young guy at the bar. Very friendly. The food was okay. But the toilets were an embarrassment. They smelt so bad like drains and the whole of the ladies toilets were flooded and you had to Wade through massive puddles of water just to go to the toilet. Really ruined the experience and what should have been a really good night. It was memorable for the wrong reasons.

This place is an utter cesspit. My girlfriend was needle spiked and has spent the night in A&E. If you have any sense of self worth stay away from this disgusting institution. Safe to say I will not be going to anymore Wednesday night karaoke.

It's good for sport. Loads of screens and multi-matches/sports being played at once. Staff are ok, wouldn't say they are the most amazingly friendly bunch but helpful enough. If I was going to suggest an improvement it would be staff/customer interaction - they could be friendlier/happier. I don't know if that's up to management to implement that or recruitment or the working conditions they are under. I come here a lot to watch sport so I can't complain too much, otherwise why would I keep coming back!
