Cute little place in Colchester. The burgers and wine were gorgeous

Food was amazing! Best burger I've ever had. What made it so good was it was different type of burger, very tasty and presentation was perfect! Like it looked exactly like advertised, large size an all neat n tidy. Unlike other places where the burger is a mess! Only thing is I think they need to put a tv on the wall, an the lack of toilets was frustrating. Had to wait a while for the food but tbh perfection is worth the wait 👌

Nice location, food was good and lots of veggie options. Thought the coconut matcha latte didn't really taste of matcha and was overpriced.

Only one small problem was that we ordered steak frites, as rare as possible, and it came slightly overcooked. Not terrible, and not worth moaning about, but please pay à bit more attention to customer requests.

Only reason they get a 2 star is because of the optional service charge being automatically added to the bill. No mention of this prior to the bill being brought up and they have therefore done themselves out of my repeat custom

Came for breakfast and had “The Plant Plate” which was: Scrambled OGGS®, vegan bacon & sausage, roasted plum tomatoes, mushrooms, fried potatoes, baked beans & toast. Served with spicy sriracha sauce. The Oggs and bacon were a novelty but not that tasty (I left off the sriracha sauce, maybe it needs it on the food to hold up the meal!) OH had a full English and a latte, said the coffee wasn’t great. I had a pot of tea. Whole meal was £42 which I feel we could have spent better elsewhere!

Lovely food, brilliant staff. But I will not be using this establishment again purely because they don't take cash.

An over priced Weatherspoons experience without the convenience or service. Went for an early dinner, had to wait a while for drinks to come then they did decided to hold a tray one handed with a coffee and hot chocolate over a 1 year olds head. We got the food but then have to wait before eating it because we hadn't been given cutlery. Children's Bolognese literally swimming in water in the bowl and my £14 chicken shawarma is one chicken breast sliced up with two pieces of bread and a wilted salad. Genuine waste of money.

I love our local Bill's restaurant. It has such great food and service.

Very nice experience at Bill's for my 1st time. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was great. The food was really good as well. Ordered the 3 course lunch with fried calamari for the starter, the Bill's burger and fries for the main, and the salted chocolate tart for dessert. Would highly recommend for a nice lunch out and if you feel like treating yourself!

We visited as a large group from our basketball club. Thanks to Sam P for his excellent attentive service and managing the request of parents to have specific bills. Food was very good, although the Bourbon is not the expected sauce but an alcoholic glug / shot!

Located on Colchester High Street, Bill's is a great high Street staple. Great for all, family or groups. Menu has a full selection of popular dishes. A great £20 3 course meal deal. Staff are friendly and professional, always willing to help. I will return again. Many thanks Den

Terrace drinks in the afternoon in a lovely atmosphere

The bruch was adequate. The fried eggs were solid but apart from that the rest was ok. Staff were pleasant and the surroundings were quite nice (we sat outside and people watched)

We had a quick visit there, the atmosphere was very pleasant, I could stay for longer with a glass of vine (or two) also had a great steak, just the way we asked for.

Went there for my mother’s birthday on graduation week! Super nice place and the staff was extra lovely and even helped me with the cake for her ! The food was splendid ! I totally recommend this place Both times I came were perfect !

Staff were attentive and helpful. Asked for porridge as I had enjoyed it previously at Bill's, but found it was a weekly menu choice not Saturday brunch. The staff organised for me to have it. Really appreciated this.

I would highly recommend the dirty vegan burger. Lovely, alongside the crunchy, tasty chips.

I called in with my sister and brother in-law for breakfast. They have a good menu. Each breakfast was excellent, as was the coffee.

We visited as a group for a hen party brunch. The food was lovely, the service was good although it was slow at times but it was a great space for hosting a hen party on a weekend afternoon. Food allergies were strictly catered for which was good to know and I think this may have caused some delays with food and drinks service times.

ELSIE was lovely. Made the experience great. Food was top and our dog was aloud.

I didn't enjoy my steak, but only because I ordered it medium-well and it was overdone. So now I know to order medium when next I visit. Otherwise I HIGHLY recommend Bill's. (Everything else on my plate was fantastic!) Service was on point! My waiter, Sam, was lovely. And even the barman who I first talked to was really hospitable. Lovely place for a nice quiet dinner. Will return when next in Collie.

I have been to Bill's a couple of times now with my daughter, and it has been amazing. Great food, atmosphere and the service are all spot on. I look forward to going back again 🙂.

Love this place. Staff are excellent. I had a small issue with my steak and it was sorted immediately. Can't praise the people who work here enough. Menu also has a lot of choice for all tastes. Calamari is very tasty and the shawarma is great. Lovely selection of booze also.

Was a little disappointed with the food, started with salmon and prawn cocktail (no salmon! 3 prawns!) avocado was mushy. Main course of chicken ceaser salad, chicken was touch, salad was warm and very peppery! No ceaser dressing! Not really impressed with this food. Young girl behind the bar was very friendly.

I treated myself to breakfast on Friday and was delighted with my choice of venue. Although I've looked in here once or twice I had never visited - I will be back! I opted for the English breakfast and it was really top-notch. Excellent quality sausage, two fried eggs, a heap of mushrooms and rashers galore of bacon. There was also sourdough toast. Really well cooked and served by very friendly staff. And all at a reasonable price. If you haven't been and/or fancy an excellent "breakfast experience" give Bill's a try

It's OK but doesn't compare with the Bills in Soho for atmosphere. I had to ask if it was actually tgecsame chain as it doesn't have the hip vibe and is a rather drab place

Super friendly staff and the lentil, paneer and spinach curry was absolutely gorgeous. The bread that came with the curry was a tiny bit stale, but otherwise spot on. Thank you

Nice restaurant and friendly staff

I've been going to Bill's for years and really love the place, but recently I've noticed the prices have shot up a lot and the portion size has reduced a lot. A recent example being the smashed avocado on sourdough with poached eggs has reduced to just 1 piece of sourdough with a thin scraping of avocado on it, whereas for the past couple of years it's always been 2 slices and both with a more generous amount of avocado served. Unfortunately Bill's doesn't represent good value for money these days, a real shame. They don't accept cash either anymore.

First time dining at any Bills but chose Colchester as the first. Amazing. Wonderful atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff and the food was perfect. Fish pie with a side of Halloumi Fries, not too overwhelming, just the right portion size that leaves one feeling full and content.

Food & and the service were great the only disappointing thing was the service charge automatically added 12.5% , do the servers actually receive this? I hope so as they were all really lovely best service I have had in a long time.

Excellent staff. Helpful, courteous, professional. Food a 4 as on the chicken shawarma the chicken was cold but as we were on a deadline time wise I accepted it. Other times I would have asked for it to be hotter.

Popped in here for lunch with my son and his girlfriend. Although busy, we got a table straight away. The food was good, we all had burgers. Service very good, even though they were busy. Didn't agree with the service charge automatically added to the bill, but they soon removed it when asked.

Food portions are too small, kids menu is not very kid friendly. After receiving our food no one came to ask if everything was ok. No one offered water for the table we had to ask, we gave them plenty of time but we were gonna leave parched. Then the bill came and considering one of the adults didn't eat any food, way over priced.

Too good. Service is always fast and friendly, and the atmosphere of the store itself is amazing to look at. My flatmate and I were served by Charlotte, who did an excellent job as always. The staff always ensure to check if customers have any allergies. I will be eating the calamari here until the day I die so long as it remains! Just wish they offered delivery via Deliveroo or something of that nature. I recommend the calamari, mac and cheese or salmon and poached eggs. 11/10.

Went for a Family Sunday brunch. Excellent service. Coffee Luke warm, food lovely, but could do with more on the brunch for the price. Catered well for 2 under 3's and 3 under 12.

Another great dog friendly pub from the Bills chain, the staff were all very attentive and helpful, the food was excellent, in fact it was so good we went back for breakfast which was also excellent. We have had a great experience at all of the Bills chain restaurants we have visited and this was no exception.

Went for a friend's birthday. They were so accommodating and friendly throughout the time we were there. Lovely atmosphere and love decor. Good selection of foods. My friend and I had a selection of small dishes to share. My only downside for this is that many places that offer smaller dishes normally have a 3 for.. Or something similar, here did not. Other than that, the food was all hot and very tasty.

Nice place for breakfast/brunch can't comment on dinner as I've never been at this time. Twice I've been I have ordered the pancakes with fruit. Must be a fruit shortage as for stack of 3/5 definitely fruit portion isn't enough...they need to be more generous! Unfortunately, second time I went my last pancake of the stack of three (lowest one) touching the plate was no joke but rock hard. I told the waitress and even though she offered another (I didn't have time) she didn't deduct anything from the bill, which i thought she could have done. Optional service charge but they add it straight onto card machine without even telling you so unless you had a fantastic service be sure to double check before you pay! Great space for prams etc I would go back again :)

Went yesterday 14th, with my 2 daughters 1 of whom is in wheelchair very accomadting manger was she was lovely, waitress came to take our food orders b4 drinks order, as a foh supervisor i sit guests and ask their drink orders and give menus usually wait till after serving drinks b4 food orders so as not to rush em, anyway,,, my disabled child can only eat soft foods asked if chef make a small omlete for her waitress whom was lovely asked and he couldnt yet oddly could do scrambled eggs, so got that for her and side of mac cheese me n other adult daughter order steak meals with side mushrooms n peppersauce coke and 1 dbl rum n coke, dbl vodka lemonade aperol spritz , beef gin lemonsde , icecream total shockinly £107.94 to expensive inc £12.59 service charge i only didnt refuse cos waitress was lovely and attentive, steak was tough so prob frozen and defrosted ,with garlic butter on top which should be to side guest may not like garlic or butter,ive worked as chef to on the lines & wld put in a petri on side. pepper sauce to much pepper in it ruined sauce flavour,shame only do fries and not chips as steak usually served with steak chips, mushrooms were overcooked and dry & shrivalled,scrambled egg was good and mac cheese. The young man whom delivered food to table was lovel, he didnt say to us where shall i put yr daughters plate, like some places do when see her in wheelchair with cp, he actually served and treated her like she should be and his been raised great whatever his name was thankyou so much, for seeing her and not the disabilty. Do think meals were pricy 98 quid for 2 sides and 2 mains icecream scoop n 5 drinks . Vodka n gin all could taste was lemonade. Food 3/5.. frozen steak tough Waitress 4/5 nds to order n serve drinks when guests sit & allow guests to settle n browse menu over drinks b4 asking for food orders so as not rush them, but checkback done great and polite. Waiter 5/5 for seeing my daughter not the cp Cost 3/5 crazy Manager 4/5 lovey greetings and assisted us in to table no problem , polite and professional. Servers coukd try and upsell bottles wine when people order recomend em depending on food orders .and also desserts instead leaving guests to ask gor dessert menus choose a certain dessert on menu and say its chef special push it, upsales good 4 buisness and good for servers. Would return as service lovely.

Elsie and Ella were absolute gems, they were attentive and very pleasant to interact with. This restaraunt is perfect for a casual bite to eat or a date, would recommend.

The service was very slow. The man who took our order forgot things multiple times. The room in which we were sat was also very dimly lit, which made it very hard to read the menu. The food took a long time despite there only being around 5 tables eating in. For the main, I ordered the halloumi shawarma and a side of mac and cheese. The halloumi was burnt, but the side of mac and cheese was OK. Overall, I was very disappointed with our visit as it was for an anniversary and due to the slow service we missed the movie we had tickets for. It also took them 10 minutes to bring the bill and another 10 to bring us a card machine. They also include a service charge without asking. Sadly, it seems the staffing and quality control have both taken a turn for the worst, and I certainly will not be returning.

My time at Bills was lovely . Had a small problem with the temperature of the food but our waitress Elsie handle it within a flash . She was kind and polite and we’d love to have her again as our waitress . She made our experience wonderful and I couldn’t thank her enough .
