not keen on the food. sausage very herby and flowery tasting. tomato seemed to be boiled rather than fried. bacon was tasteless. possibly boiled or microwaved? egg also possibly microwaved. plasticy.

An ok place for a quick coffee and bacon sandwich - music too loud to sit inside but everything else ok.

Cafe plus exceeded all my expectations. You do not often find a place where every element comes together so perfectly. I’ll be recommending it.

Waited an hour for food when they’re not even that busy and tables were getting served before us, was told 5 mins and awaited another 20

Hearty & quality food! Provided with cutlery and sauces. The only thing I can say is the jacket potato was not as cooked as I personally prefer & the temp was not desirable upon arrival. Aside from that I will happily order again :)

Wrap and chips were delicious. Bit concerned about the carrot cake. It feels rock hard and frozen? Or it’s very cold and stale? Not sure about it unfortunately which makes me sad as I was really looking forward to it and it cost me £3.50

Mega breakfast was good, generally cooked nicely with good ingredients. Bread was cheap/old though sadly. Coffee was missing milk. Perhaps it was busy lunch hour so few things were missed. I'll try again next time and edit accordingly. Thanks.

I needed to stay here for most of the day after dropping my car off at a local garage and waiting for it to be ready for collection. Great food, great coffee, great staff, and I felt welcome all day.

Looking for the perfect ‘greasy spoon’ (it wasn’t greasy it was delicious lol) on our way home to the midlands from a gig last night (we over slept and missed the hotel breakfast). Stopped at 3 other cafes fist but they weren’t what we were looking for. This hit the spot. Next Colchester Dingus Khan gig we will definitely make this a stop on the way home. Great food and really lovely service.

All the goodness of a small cafe - friendly staff, homemade-style food you can customize (within reason) and reasonably priced. We had omelettes for lunch, which were hearty and filling, so had to take home the dessert (cakes) to have later.

Best New Yorker (pastrami and cheese) bagel I've had anywhere. Plenty of choice, very reasonable pricing. Service is fast and very friendly

3x of the 6 meals were delivered in error. Asked for bread and received toast instead. 2x other meals did not receive any of their sausages.

Today, we had a lovely & warm breakfast at Cafe Plus with my family. The 2 ladies that served us were very welcoming, pleasant, helpful & always had a smiley face throughout our time there.

Popped in for a quick bite for lunch. Service couldn't have been better. Huge menu selection. We had a baguette and ciabatta - bread tasted very fresh and thick. Decent cup of tea and coffee. Basic on the inside but couldn't fault service, food quality or value for money.

Waited 25minutes for my collection after the collection time given on justeat. I was then given the food and it was implied i was a just eat deliver driver which i am not terrible customer service and extremely rude. Walk in customer were told food orders would be a 15-20min wait which is not acceptable when these are peoples lunch hours. They have clearly taken on to much at this place and cannot handle the demand.

I’ve visited and had deliveries from this establishment on several occasions, and have never been disappointed with the service. From the moment you arrive, you are welcomed with friendly and professional staff, the food is always cooked fresh ( so there maybe a slight wait, but is worth it ) but the food when it arrives is hot and plentiful and presented well … your spoilt for choice for what you’d want as there is a large varied selection to choose from … Today for example I sat in with a colleague and we both had the Mega Breakfast, and as always was really lovely. I would highly recommend and will continue to visit because of its superb service, very clean surroundings and great food.

RUDE RUDE RUDE - Customer service appalling! Please don't waste your money here. Today I ordered online and previously ordered on three occasions the brie, bacon & cranberry melt and twice added comments asking for a decent amount of bacon as previous orders have had very little despite paying for an extra rasher (which actually was only a couple of extra tiny squares cut up). When I placed my order today, I put in the comments asking for a decent amount of bacon as before it was just like eating a jam sandwich. Owner called me shortly afterwards to say she was there last time when my previous order came through and watched the server make it (poor girl). I replied and said I was amazed she remembered and said that there wasn't the extra bacon I had paid for. Because she was so rude, I kindly asked her to cancel my order. After the call, I popped over as I work next door and asked that she refunded me only for her to just go on about the bacon again. I let her know that her customer service was appalling and I won't be returning. I've been a customer there for 10 years and since the new ownership, I've seen it slowly go down hill. BTW, the staff here are lovely and are always welcoming and friendly, maybe the owners should take a leaf out of their book and also book onto some customer service training too!

Fantastic breakfast and not a cheap sausage in sight.

Since Chef's was taken over and rebranded to Cafe Plus, the service has gone down hill. We used to order regularly, but since the change the service is not as good as it was. We were given a time of 10:00 - 10:15 am for delivery, but we had to call them just before 11:00 to find out where the delivery was. We were then advised it would be another 10 minutes. We eventually got our order an hour after the time we were supposed to have received it. They did not even call us to advise there would be a delay. This is not the first time for a late delivery from them.

Its a shame that the new owners have invested more in their branded bags and sandwich wrapping rather than the actual quality of the food i.e the bread isn’t from a locally sourced bakery, sausages and bacon aren’t from a local butcher. Even the condiments are cheap supermarket own brands! This is OK if you enjoy a ‘greasy spoon’ cafe but I think it’s very overpriced considering the lack of quality food. I would thoroughly recommend Park News deli next to Mimosa for a good ciabatta or wrap and is cheaper and you get more for your money!

Myself and 5 colleagues turned up at 10am, there was 4 people in front just ordered, plus 2 behind us so a total of 12 people in the cafe We get to the till to be told there is a 25 minute wait, we'll its either look for somewhere else to go but we thought 25 minutes won't be too bad. Well the 25 minutes came and went, when finally asked at 40 minutes how much longer to wait they said the food is on its way. 2 breakfasts came out then a good 5 minutes passed before anymore came out, I was nearly finished before we all had our food. The wait was certainly not worth it, the eggs are precooked and cut like rubber, tinned mushrooms, small tinned tomatoes which tasted horrible, the positive things was real bacon, good Hash browns. I will never return there especially if its busy as its a shambles when quiet and definitely don't recommend going there especially if your in a rush

Food is great hence why were back but the service not so much.....rang up in advance to make sure the food is ready when we got there, 15mins down the line we're still waiting Can literally count how many mushrooms I was given, couldn't swap hash browns for chips, so they charged an extra 1.50 for chips and still gave hashbrown

Any time I am in the office, located in the Octagon, I get a large fruit salad. Always delicious and reasonably priced.

Fantastic little gem! Stumbled across this place and it didn’t disappoint! So much variety on the menu, took me a few minutes to decide what to have!! Food was amazing and came really quickly. Having recently relocated offices to this area, I was happy to see there was somewhere local I could get a treat for lunch or breakfast. I have eaten from here a few times, and always been very happy with my food. Today I bought several breakfasts over a few transactions and they made it easy to get this done, and the food was amazing. Very happy with the service, and the quality Will definitely eat here again!

I found the staff great. The owner not so much. Unfriendly, unhelpful. Food is expensive and bought a burger today and the. Bun was stale and the burger was poor quality

I go here once a month for a cooked breakfast and always have a great experience. The staff are really friendly & make you feel welcome - it's a happy, relaxing place to be. The food is yummy and very reasonably priced. There is plenty of indoor seating plus some outdoor seating for when it's sunny. Both the cafe and the toilets are very clean, there is also ample parking. Thanks for looking after me every time!

Recently ordered for my workplace meeting. Buffet lunch was lovely, good selection of sandwiches and lovely fruit skewers. Martina was very accommodating when we had a last minute dietary request. Would defiantly use again . Thank you Martina and the Team

Had a delicious mega breakfast! Everything was super tasty. Service was friendly and fast despite being short staffed. Bathroom is super clean which speaks volumes for the hygiene overall. Can highly recommend.

Service has been getting worse and worse recently. Incredibly late delivery. More often than not at least one thing out of the order will be wrong. Drivers like to shout on the phone to their boss if any issues happen on delivery. Just not great. It's ashame.

A1 staff and great food not been in many years but was great even for the kids

Was fine in my opinion, its a cafe. Read some mixed reviews but went anyways and enjoyed my fry up. Thanks to the chaps who switched tables so the 5 of us could sit inside too. Food was good and staff were friendly and prices were reasonable. Parking could be issue at busy times. Will definitely return next time in the area!

Incredibly friendly and attentive staff. The food is out of this world! Everything is made with care and tastes divine! Presentation is brilliant! They are Extremely clean and hygienic too which is a must! 12/10 stars. Sausage rolls are beautiful too!

Staff not friendly in the slightest! Ordered 4 sandwiches took 40 minutes to get served, and when it did arrive it was all wrong. Ended up getting a refund. Don't waste your time or money!

Fantastic breakfast and good service

This place used to be great, but over recent weeks it's been appalling. Items missing from orders, cold food, late deliveries. We thought it was the web ordering so decided to phone the order through today. We were told there was a wait and delivery would take 45-50 minutes... fair enough, after chasing them at 1 hour we were apologised to and told chef is on the breakfasts now... after another hour we called to cancel the order as it was now closer to lunchtime!! 10 minutes later the delivery arrives and we explain we canceled only to witness a full on shouting match between the driver and her boss through our open door - we had to apologise to our clients who witnessed the shouting and screaming from the other end of our telephone. I am sure the screaming match could have taken place in the drivers car, not throughout our offices. We've stuck it out for weeks, hoping things would improve, but for now, especially with the disgusting and unprofessional behaviour on our door step, we are done. I hope they sort it out

Had my breakfast from here many times rcently. Wish i could afford to have it everyday because they are a great team.And ive not had a problem with any delivery. I will definitely be having more lovely cooked breakfasts from here in the future.

Popped into this little gem this morning. Superb menu. The staff very polite and welcoming . Food was bought out within minutes hot and very well presented. The prices are very good. Value for money. Eat in or out. Orders taken delivery 3 miles radius. Buffets catered for. 10 / 10 +. Not to be missed if your in the area.
