Coffee was delicious (so it is probably good for a takeaway) but the service was sadly pretty poor (they served a couple who ordered after us first as they were taking away). It was also freezing - we had to keep our coats on. The chocolate croissants weren't fully baked either. Annoying when there's so much choice in Clifton - we wished we'd gone elsewhere!

We popped in to Wainwright’s to shelter from the incessant rain on Good Friday morning. We were the only customers, which was a shame. It’s a gorgeously decorated coffee shop with trendy seating indoors & outdoors. We sat in the window looking out on all the passers by battling with umbrellas on Regent St. It seemed reasonably priced: just £10 for 2 coffees, an almond croissant and a pain au chocolat. Unfortunately, I didn’t like the taste of the coffee at all. I think it’s Clifton Roast; I didn’t like it elsewhere either.

Perfect flat whites. Served quickly. Not much seating but fine for our needs. Has loyalty cards. We will be back.

We stopped by for a couple of flat whites to take away. There was only one guy working in the place, but he was friendly and knowledgable about the coffee he was making. They use Clifton Roasters, so it’s a good place to get some beans. Also dog friendly which is always a plus!

Been twice. First time abit tired and hungover with a couple of friends, but we all noticed how GREAT the coffee tasted. A cut above the rest. The member of staff (owner?) was not very charismatic but I am not looking for false smiles and 'how was your day' and 'awesome', like some travellers seem to require to enjoy themselves. Service not quick because he was on his own and takes times to prepare each drink, so you have to wait if people ahead of you. I went a second time and started a conversation with him. Turns out he is a qualified Barista and began to open up and chat more about all the technical aspects of making coffee, Very interesting. Very scientific and structured way of making coffee. Friend of mine had a slice of lemon cake. Tasted ok, but was not very moist/fresh. Probably been there all day. Dog friendly place. So for hot drinks I will definitely visit many times, but probably not for food. If you show an interest in coffee, he will show an interest in you. Nice décor, no music, abit quiet.

This has rapidly become my favourite place in Clifton for either breakfast or coffee. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly, the coffee really good and the muesli among the best available anywhere. And it's equally good for lunchtime snacks. An excellent addition to the village.

Popped to Bristol with a friend and visited this shop on recommendation, certainly didn't regret it. I don't like coffee but the ones I had here were amazing. Definitely going back.

We only nipped in quick for a drink on a hot day but it's a nice little coffee shop, and I was served one of, if not the nicest flat white I've ever had (other half had an iced water, with a slice - so refreshing!) The service was friendly and relaxed and the shop (although we didn't stay in). Will try the cakes and pastries next time!

The women serving were very friendly and helpful, so I disagree with many of the reviews here on that score. However the coffees I tried (latte, flat white) were way too hot, scalding the milk, and overexracted. Not awful by any means, but not a speciality experience. Again thanks to the staff though who were really good.

The coffee and bagel (smoked salmon) were both very good. My wife had a cold brew that was made in a special process that made it sparkling. Very recommended.

Ordered all our meals then found out 15 minutes later they lost order and didn't have half of the ingredients. All the meals came at different times. Maybe they should just stick to drinks, but not soft drinks because they don't sell those.

The small team who run Wainwright's are passionate about coffee without being snobby about it. Prices are about the same as the rest of Clifton village, but the coffee's superior stuff - chosen from single estates and made with love and care.

After two years peeing off most of the neighbourhood with noise and litter and building a live music venue, without planning permission next door to residential gardens, these squatters are finally getting the boot. Shame that the charity that own the building are now heavily out of pocket.

I liked the coffee and food, however, the seating area is a little on the small size, brilliant for a quick bite to eat

Went to this café for breakfast on the recommendation of another. Being in the centre of Bristol, this is good value if you want a basic breakfast. I did not find the people serving particularly friendly or feel welcome. Service was quick but the quality of the ingredients’ poor. I had an English breakfast, bacon, sausage, toast, hash brown, poached egg and tinned mushrooms (which I left) whilst my wife had what they termed a sausage baguette. In reality it was a sausage in a panini. The coffee was on the thin and weak side. I will not be returning.
