I needed food inbetween trains. Biriyani was yummy! They did takeaway, very reasonably priced, didnt take long and was only a 2min walk from the station. Nice staff too :)

Hidden gem halal restaurant in City Center. Delicious food and nice interior. Too bad it's empty when I went there. The food arrived a bit longer but it tasted so good! A high level up from just a simple pizza! Plus the location is just opposite of train station. Unfortunately the halal sign was quiet covered by the construction. And you almost can't see the restaurant because of the construction!! 😅 Anyway, the price is £15 for 2-3 people for parmesan chicken pizza is worth it!

My husband and I booked a table in the restaurant as I’d read some reasonably good reviews. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and comfortable. We were shown to a table (there were only two other people in the restaurant). We waited in the hope that the solitary waiter would take our drinks order, but he came over with the menus. My husband asked for a glass of red wine and was told that they didn’t serve alcohol. We were surprised at this. He asked for a coffee and water for me. I asked for lemon in the water… and was told that they don’t have lemons. We received the water straight away. When we gave our order for food, we asked for popadoms for two and a Korma and a Madras as our main meal. I asked for rice, but was told that they don’t do rice! So, my husband changed his curry order to two different starters. We then added two Nan breads to our order. When the food was brought out, the starters were put on the table followed by my curry dish and the breads. Starters and main all at the same time! We both decided to share all the food on the table… still no coffee! After we finished eating my husband made a trip to the toilet. I asked for the bill. Whilst paying, I asked why the coffee had not been given and was told there was no coffee. In the meantime, the waiter had put a bolt across the toilet door and my husband was shoulder barging the door in an attempt to get out!!!!! When the waiter at last heard the banging he took the bolt off and let my husband out! He was VERY ANGRY!!!! We then left! Our recommendation would be to NOT go there to eat, not unless you want to experience a ‘Basil Fawlty’ type experience! We can laugh about it now, but it definitely was an absolute disaster!

We went to Wagon Rasoi yesterday and it was a huge disappointment. After being shown to a table we were surprised that we couldn’t order a bottle of red wine as they don’t sell alcohol, so we ordered our dinner. We asked for rice to go with our curry and the waiter said they didn’t have any! So, we ordered two starters, a chicken Korma and two breads. All the food came out at the same time so by the time we had eaten our starters the curry wasn’t very hot. After we’d finished, my husband used the toilet. He locked the door but heard another noise behind him. This was the waiter locking him inside the toilet! My husband had to physically shoulder ram the door and then the waiter must have heard the noise and took the lock off. My husband was enraged! What a complete nightmare the whole experience was. We will never ever go there again and it doesn’t even deserve one star.

Excellent food and great ambience in reasonable price. We have enjoyed amble amount of time in the most beautiful ambience of restaurant. Good hospitality and welcoming of staff is another positive. No much wait for food. Overall 5/5. Worth coming.

A weird experience from beginning to end. The sole waiter seemed confused by our presence despite having booked. The order for poppadoms and starters was taken eventually but we had to get the waiter back to order mains. No plates with the poppadoms. Some of the food was OK but some was odd. A starter that comprised chicken coated in something that should be crispy and sprinkled with cheese arrived on a cold sizzle plate and was just a soggy concoction. The Keema was very oily and had a strange flavour. The biryani was good as was one of the chicken curries. We were asked how we wanted to pay when half way through the meal - allegedly the card machine had suddenly failed. Thankfully we had cash. We ate most of it and paid but certainly wouldn't return.

We were so excited to try this place. We came all the way from Manchester for my birthday meal from this place but had disappointment. First of all we had to find a parking space which we did and paid the parking fee. And then when we went to this place, it was closed. The sign on the door and on the website were saying it was opened. But it was not. Do I rang then few times but it just kept ringing and ringing. It was getting windy outside and we had our 10 months old baby with us so had to get back to the car and drove off to somewhere else. Tbr parking money got waisted. Sorry , but if your not opened the please let the customers know so we don't have to waste our petrol to get there but rather go somewhere else. 😐😐😑😑😶😶😶😐😐😐

One of the priciest menu of its kind. Will realise once been charged £2.95 for a can of sprite but served only cheap 7up cans. All restaurants in city not charging more than £2.60 for 2 litre bottle of any soft drink. No wonder they were quite.

We love the location the restaurant looks good and you have good options for dinner. We love the ambiance and the food was so tasty and delicious. We highly recommended 🤚

Excellent experience! Very friendly staff! Made tasty veg biryani in a matter of minutes and were very accommodating to our time pressures. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a quick but tasty meal, they let you choose your spice level. Good portions. Thank you for this experience will definitely be back!

Went there just by chance when the daughter was seeing a show in the Leadhills, really really good food and service. If you are in the area, really go there.

I, along with my friend, It was around 21:40 on Monday eve. We ordered Desi Chai and explicitly requested to not to have any cardamom or any other masala, just a simple tea. Tea came with Cardamom! we brought it to the attention of the server who took our order, he straightaway apologised and offered to take it back to kitchen. Few minutes later, Chef approached our table, he was clearly agitated, and asked what was wrong with the tea. We informed him that we requested for a simple tea without any cardamom etc. He obviously did not like it and said that this is how it is done in all over UK. We replied that we requested not to have cardamom and then we got shock of our life as Chef complained "This restaurant is for food, do not serve just tea and you sent tea back!! we took your order out of courtesy only" We were astonished to hear Chef's comment as this restaurant has over 30 seating capacity and restaurant was literally empty. Why would someone say this to customer? Why it does not say anywhere that only tea is not served? The restaurant has 4.6 rating on TripAdvisor, probably food is good - It is shame that we are never going back! I wanted to give 1 star but gave 3 stars as rest of the staffs were polite and apologised for Chef's comments.

Service was appalling. Wouldn't even leave this place 1 star. We came in expecting food to be served just like any other restaurant. Unfortunately after 80 mins our food still hadn't arrived. The only food we ate was the gol gappe (starters) Disgusted never going back ! Also, there was only one chef and 1 waitress on site!

Visited this place on Monday evening this 08/08/22. Approx 25 of us. I was really really disappointed. I don’t know where to start. We decided on this place after reading all the reviews online. Service was absolutely shocking. Not the waitresses’ fault at all. There was only 1 waitress on running around like a headless chicken. She did an amazing job to the best of her ability. The food must have taken best part of 60-80 mins. Half of the food missing. Some of the food from the chef was very inconsistent. Ordered 2 of the same dishes and they looked world apart. Poppadoms we’re stale, we got charged £17.50 for 5!! Which was disgusting. The grilled starters tasted like rubber. The wings were tasteless. Definitely disappointed. Our bill must have been £250-£300. Definitely not what I expected. No manager on site or anything to complain to.

It's now a 'streetfood' Indian place Wasn't impressed by the food, overpriced for what it is and definitely doesn't have a street food feel to it. Also the owner kept changing songs half way through which was annoying, and it was too loud. Shouldn't have the good rating of the place that came before it.

Food sucks. Very oily, flavourless, total waste of money. In fact, I can feel myself losing years off my life from all this oil.

Came here by friends suggestion and had many varieties of dishes started with pani puri , chicken peri wings and had butter naan , rumali roti with chicken dopiza we expected spicy but it was sweet . Then we had murgh biryani can’t say best but it’s okay overall last but not least had some passion fruit and strawberry mojitos something both were nice . If you are in Sheffield must try food .

Everything was good except that they lied on the menu of the type of fish that they used for the masala fish. On the menu it says they use "fresh cod" but they served some other Vietnamese imported fish instead. Not good to lie and serve a cheaper option of cod.

Great ambience and the service was fantastic. Was greeted at the door with a smile and the staff were extremely friendly. Fantastic mix grill and the curry (sultani Handi) was exceptional! Not your commercial food, real home cooked feel, credit to the chef. The Naans were the best that I have had. All round one of the most authentic Indian restaurants that I have been to.

Went to this place on friday night thinking the reviewes are genuine. But, to my utter disappintment the food was below than average in fact if there was a word to describe the worst i d put it here! I dont know how are these guys even claiming that they know indian food...( since 1971....what a lie!) anyway, we ordered paneer makhni and dal makhni n asked it to make spicy so the chef decided to add red chilli powder over the top (clearly he s just some newbie) it was literally made from ready to cook pack from asda and i m not even hyping u could tell...just boiled tomato added in the spices( mind it that chef din evn bother to cut it in pieces). Coming to daal makhni ( it was made from chana daal) which self respecting and aware indian would make daal makhni from chana daal...when i asked the guy, "r u sure this is daal makhni?" he said yeah...this is how we make it....! What do u mean this is how you makr it ? Like who is ur chef ? Is he asda guy who gives you ready to cook at half cost so you guys just boil it and serve it thinking ppl wudnt know....i would give -100 ....no wonder the place was empty on a friday evening! What a pathetic food , terrible! I d rather starve than eat at this place again

Shockingly bad. Rock hard and tasteless chicken tikka starter, not cooked on a tandoor and if it was then it was several hours precious and refired in the oven, . Paneer pakora, sounds good and unique, always keen to try something new, but I now know why it’s not common practise as was bland and tasteless. The chefs main curry was returned and was just chunk of ‘meat’ imaginable mutton and chucks of tomato boiled in single cream and smothered in white pepper. That was not a curry and was removed form the bill. Pishwari naan was poor, at best. Also no alcohol license, BYO from off license next door, the beers where in the fridges more for show, as they weren’t turned on. I don’t want to say it’s the worst curry house I have ever been too, but I can think of one of a worse standard, at this point. I would also say avoid, but this must be already local common knowledge, as we were the only ones in there. 2/10 (One point for popadoms, being popadoms

We had a very unfortunate visit to this restaurant on the Friday of the Easter weekend. The purpose of the visit was to have a beer and enjoy a curry - regrettably, neither of these things were possible. 1. This restaurant does not have an alcohol licence (this is worth noting before you visit) and this information is not easily obtainable from the their website. 2. After reserving a table, we arrived to an almost empty restaurant but were told there was a delay for food. There was only one member of staff taking orders and she spent most of the time eating. After finally coming over to take our order (after around 20 minutes) she again said there would be a delay for food. We placed an order for several things from the menu, expecting poppadoms to arrive at the table fairly quickly. After a further 30 minutes, the lady said she would check with the kitchen to see where our food was. However, after a further 25 minutes, the lady came over to say our order was 'lost' but that she definitely put it through the till. She asked if we wanted to re-order or leave. At this stage, it became clear that they had no intention of serving us any food so we decided to leave (without handing over any money) the now empty restaurant at around 9.30pm on a bank holiday weekend. The waitress informed us that they were extremely busy in the restaurant and the only chef on was struggling to complete all of the delivery orders. Interestingly . . . another table did arrive while we were seated and they were served starters very quickly. We watched them complain about the quality of the food and refuse to pay the full amount. Perhaps we were lucky not to receive any food after all! Had they been honest at the start we wouldn't have wasted over an hour and a quarter sitting drinking off-licence purchased beer. Thankfully, we found another restaurant the other side of town called Seven Spices Balti which was a much more traditional Indian restaurant that served alcohol and quality food. Go there and avoid Wagon Rasoi.

I wish I could give Wagon Rasoi a hundred stars. It's the perfect place for a date night or to take your family. The food is always superb and the staff are so welcoming - we felt like regulars within minutes of our first visit! If you're looking for excellent Indian cuisine, this should be your go-to spot!

Firstly, ignore all previous reviews which relate to a previous iteration of this place when it was a cafe. It is now an Indian restaurant/cafe, which only opened in February 2022. The food here is exceptional - not at all your standard Indian food but much better. Five of us had a range of dishes, from the traditional favourites like Chicken Tikka Masala and garlic naan, to some of the innovative stuff on the menu. It was all excellent, but I’d particularly recommend the more unusual stuff - the best thing we had was the masala fried fish, and the Lahori chicken was also excellent (but very spicy). It’s also very reasonably priced - £90 for five. Doesn’t serve booze, but you can BYOB from the off licence next door. Overall, highly recommended.

Authentic Indian food - very tasty 😋

I went with my mother and my boyfriend. We asked for a a table for 3 people obviously. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all just two tables. We waited around 25 mins to be served and nothing…the waiter never asked us if we wanted something, no even welcome or hello or do you want some water? Or even a sign to be served. Honestly I felt a very racist atmosphere. Something that in my opinion was rude and out of the place. I’ll never go back.

We visited here on mother's days, overall the food was nice even when out chicken numbali arrived heavily salted the staff changed it straight away and did not charge us, the currys had really good flavours (we orderd nearly all the meat ones!).the Achari Ghosht was amazing, Iwould definitely visit here again.

The fascia seems quite typical and unassuming for a busy street restaurant. The inside is a mix of pretty normal seating options but bright vibrant street art on the walls. More importantly, this was one of the best Indian meals I've ever had. And service was great. The menu is an awesome mix of more traditional dishes and street food as well as some more "local" style options for the less adventurous. I had the Gosht Biryani. Its the best Biryani I've ever had. Period. Its tasty, the spices aromatic and balanced, and the meat is tender. I also had paneer tikka and a peshwari naan. The paneer portion was generous with big pieces of marinated paneer cheese, and also the spices were also perfect. The naan was just the right size and freshly made the proper way, instead of a big soggy-after-being-in-packaging takeaway style one, and tastes fantastic. Oh I also had proper desi chai brewed in the milk like it should be, that was seriously nice and I so enjoyed it I enjoyed all of I had had a great chat with my server who took really good care of me This place used to be something else until recently- it really deserves more attention, you should absolutely check I out and bring people you really like so they can enjoy this gem on the main road.

Food was okay. Chai was okay. Nothing special and in our opinion you can get better for the same price which could be seen as pricey. What put us off is that the wait staff clearly had a cough and was coughing pretty frequently all over without washing hands. Understandably it's difficult to get cover on quiet times but we draw the line at having working staff that are clearly ill and coughing.

Decided to come in because of the beautiful interior and was pleasantly surprised by the way I was greeted with a smile. The staff was very friendly and involved making sure I am having a good experience and that I am fully enjoying my time. We even made a joke or two. The chef did an amazong job with the food I ordered. The lamb is absolutely great. Lastly, I loved how involved the manager was as well, doing his best to make the customer feel welcomed. Overall loved the place and will definitely come again.

This is a must go to place. The food was amazingly prepared and presented with eye to detail. Was very tasty from starters to the mains. Compliments to the chef! Tried the in house mocktails, which were very refreshing. Desserts are a must try. Very friendly staff. Will be definitely visiting again. Great location opposite Sheffield city centre train station. Absolutely shocking. Worst breakfast I’ve ever had in my entire life! Full English breakfast. No bacon. Served up 3 chippy sausages instead. Cold egg and beans. Basically served up slop and charged an absolute fortune! Plus the lady who works there smells like she’s not had a wash for days

Very disappointed nothing like the photos online food was awful we ordered the special burger came with no cheese and chicken fillet also was meant to have bacon and it had ham. The salad was off and my chips had a hair in it. Garlic bread was supermarket brought like a buggette but had 4 slices for £4 and it was stail. Asked for a iced tea and the lady didn't bother to bring it, as my partner went to pay the lady said she would give him 50% off been so mine wasn't really touched. Staff didn't speak good English and was not very organised and didn't see anyone working in kitchen except the lady at the front doing drinks wouldn't recommend⁹

I regularly went to Wagon 1871 for the French-speaking evenings in Sheffield. The servers are very nice, and the dishes are very good. I recommend this address, just opposite the station.

Abismal service and food. It took the "chef" 3 attempts to get a burger right, even then it wasn't as described on the menu. Eventually I got a dry burger that had been fried 3 times, the bun looked like it had done 12 rounds with Mohamed Ali, the "onion rings" were re-fried that many times that they just disintegrated, instead of putting thhe things ON the burger they were just put next to it meaning I had to build the burger myself and the chips were cold as they were from 3 burgers ago. If they can't even get a burger right then there's no hope here. AVOID THIS PLACE.

Regularly come here before/after work. Their fries are particularly good, and their burgers are always perfect! The service is incredibly friendly and relaxed and the prices are very reasonable. No complaints from me. ☺️

Popped in here for a coffee as had a bit of time to kill before I got my train. Coffee ended up being lunch as well. I popped into her whilst waiting for a train and I so wish I had come earlier in the day. Great quality food which is well cooked and presented with just the right seasonings. Friendly and attentive staff. Would highly recommend it.

Never got to test the amazing looking food, advertised as open at 7am, got there at 7.15 and it was all closed, lights off and no one to be seen. Such a shame, what a let down

I was extremely pleasantly surprised when I visited here with my aunt. Quite a chilled atmosphere. I ordered chicken fajitas and it was really nice (could maybe have used more wraps though.) Also enjoyed a hot chocolate. Would certainly come again.

First time visit, but as soon as you walk in there is such a calm cool atmosphere, the road outside doesn't exist, it's very well kept and clean but most importantly very friendly only had cake today so nice but will be going back to try from the menu, there is a good drink selection wines, gins, etc so give this place a look sheffield it's a thumbs up from me,

We visited before going to the Leadmill and we weren’t sure what to expect-very quiet because it was early and the sort of place that you’re not sure what the food will be like. Ordered a chicken dish, burger and chicken burger. All well-cooked and tasted delicious. Unusual food and helpful service.

My partner and I visited here before a gig at the leadmill and I'm so glad we did, it was brilliant! Thick ice cream milkshakes, juicy footlong hotdog and a proper tasty burger on a bright pink bun. Great food. Had a vegan burger which was really good. Partner had a tasty pizza. Very friendly service. Recommend for getting food before visiting the cinema. Service was quick and pretty good value.
