Fantastic village pub serving cracking food! Excellent waitress service and bar staff second to none! Would definitely recommend!

Brilliant food great Ale staff were really good all-around an excellent pub. Prices very fair. Really good portions, And plenty of choices . Thanks to all the staff for a really nice evening.

Always such great, friendly service, and fab food. The barbecue this week (instead of traditional Sunday lunch - Which is always tdf) is amazing!

My Dad's brother and sister in law came over from Australia, we went for a Sunday dinner, was delicious, although would like more meat. Staff very friendly, nothing's too much trouble, your man on the carvery filled anything empty straight away, thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

Been a few times over the past few months and loved it. Friends very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food for the price. One commenting they were the best fish and chips she’d ever had. Great service, hot plates, lovely food.

Just tried out the Wednesday lunchtime Carvery, de-lic-ious 😋 We were warmly welcomed, seated and order taken promptly. Food was lovely and warm, so often lacking with a carvery. Choice of 3 meats and help yourself to a selection of perfectly cooked veggies. The gravy was lush. No room for a dessert for me but my other half found room for biscoff cheesecake, looked amazing, and he confirmed it was. Accompanied by a pint of Neck Oil (my absolute favourite beer) it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Will definitely return.

Easily the best pub food I've had in or anywhere near Bourne. Have been many times with my family. Some good ales on tap and excellent service.

Delicious food, you can really tell it's homemade. The vegetarian lasagne was delicious. Dog friendly too! Would certainly return!

Freezing cold , I understand things go wrong but if the heating was out off action /broken a few portable heaters would have helped. Average food but served on cold plates .? this making the whole experience one not to repeat.

Saw a sign outside advertising carvery on Wednesday lunchtime the car park wasn't busy so went in and a lot of tables were empty and asked a staff member for a table for three she said she had to ask the chef she disappeared for ages when she did reappear she said no they could not accommodate us it was only 12.30 so not long into lunch time but all ok found a lovely pub just down the road great food and service at the other pub

We booked here to celebrate our Mum's 80th Birthday. Our reserved table was beautifully laid out. Service was very prompt. We ordered from both the main menu and the specials board. All of us absolutely loved our meals (these were pan fried chicken, pan fried duck, ribeye beef steak, sea bass, salmon en-croute, lamb shank and steak and kidney suet pudding. These were all very well presented and lovely and hot. We also weren't short of vegetables 😊. Desserts were amazing too and we all left feeling very full. A massive thank you to Richard and his team for making our Mum's Birthday very special. We will all be returning without any doubt and would highly recommend a visit here. Thank you

Dined with friends on their recommendation and were not disappointed. Decent parking (although the Blue Badge spaces could be marked as such), spacious dining area and a very enjoyable carvery meal for all four of us.

The food was excellent. Four adults eating and all the meals came out with top marks.

Having been in a few times before and has always been excellent 4 of us went in for a meal last night and sadly was let down by the waitress. We ordered drinks 1 of which should have been a shandy no Lemonade added so had to ask for more we then ordered food ( which was lovely) we had to ask for more drinks as once she had delivered the food she then left us alone not even checking if everything was OK. On the second round of drinks 1 of them should have been a small coke and a large was delivered whilst clearing the table she asked if we wanted desert menu we said yes and then we never saw her again. The pub had a few other tables in there but it wasn't busy the table next to us had to go to the bar to collect more drinks because again she wasn't asking she seemed to be to busy chatting with the other girl behind the bar so they lost out on 4 deserts and more drinks and tip but the 4 meals were as lovely as always

17 of us went for a meal and it was all very good. Good service good food all hot considering there were lots of us

Pub with no burgers don't understand

The Waggon and Horses have since apologised and offered to refund my meal deposit. Thank you for that, Richard. It seems that a refund was not requested on my behalf! I should have rung them myself! My sincere apologies to the Waggon and Horses for the misunderstanding. Season's greetings to everyone there. Very disappointed with attitude. I booked festive lunch and paid £10 deposit. I am extremely ill and was unable to attend. I didn't just change my mind! Couldn't let them know the day before as they were closed! I've lost my £10! Not an ounce of empathy or festive spirit! Bah! Humbug! Same thing happened at Smith's in Bourne last week and they are very kindly holding the deposit to deduct from my next meal there. You should take a few lessons, Waggon & Horses. I shall tell everybody I know and never darken your door again. Disgusting!

Had an average meal experience. Chicken in a Brandy and Cream sauce. Chicken tasted burnt and was dry. Bland sauce. Gammon Steak and Pineapple had no Pineapple. Extremely salty. Lamb Shank decent. Seabass Good. Good choice of beers and nice atmosphere.

We have been here a few times now, and have not had a bad meal yet. The presentation is great as is the quality of food. The staff are helpful and extremely polite.

A great evening, first visit here. Firstly, the staff were lovely and very friendly. Our server was a gem & extremely efficient, sorry I can't remember her name. Food fantastic - the meat pie was very tasty and packed full of meat, the pan fried chicken was incredibly tasty. We will be back.

Had a fantastic meal, 9 of us in our group all food came out hot and cooked to perfection, the home made chips and onion rings was lovely... the only thing that let it down was the pub was cold other than that was perfect. We shall definitely be going again.

One of our favourite places to eat and wedding meal is to be held here to. So I'm adding to this review as we got married in the church just over the road. Only 18 of us at the meal but it was exceptional (as all our meals have been). They had a list of what everyone was eating from the wedding menu, place names for everyone so food was brought straight out and given to the person. Richard downloaded a couple of songs for us so we had our first dance there too. Couldn't fault anything and heard several guests saying that they wouldn't mind eating here again so I hope they do support this lovely pub and it's delicious food.

We had been recommended this pub for a great Sunday lunch. It was very very busy at 2.30 when we arrived. Staff were flat out but polite. It was obvious they were struggling with overload. One young woman behind the bar looked frazzled. Menus were taken to our table at far end of the room. Next to a dying plant and a cracked window. The room was hot and stuffy but we couldn't open windows as they were nailed or locked! We were told there would be a wait when orders were taken. We both ordered roast lamb at £17.00? I think. Drinks arrived promptly. We were called to queue for our carvery. The gentleman carving was hot and hassled. I said how busy he looked. Maybe a daft thing to say but he commented 'I'm always busy here.' Not a happy man. The meat was well cooked no sign of pink lamb sadly but it was the best and tastiest part of our meal. Veg was getting low and he scooped each collection of veg to the side in each tray. Needless to say the food wasnt piping hot and the veg mixed greens, carrots were overcooked. My husband had one new potato. Yorkshire puds wete deflated and doughy thro being kept warm. The cauliflower cheese was not in my opinion a pleasant flavour sauce and I left my serving. There was very little mint sauce left so we scraped the dish out that was self serve. Lack of staff caused some of these issues I feel sure. The view where we sat was really off putting and so hot I couldnt stay longer so no desserts for us. A disappointing experience.

Booked for lunch and really enjoyed our food. We had a carvery meal and it was perfectly cooked. The service was excellent. We had a friendly welcome from the lady behind the bar. The waitress was so attentive and was making sure all the customers were being looked after.

Visited here for a family get together and found the staff were amazing and really helpful with friendly attitudes. The food is where the experience was let down a bit as it was a mixed bag. One big thing of note was the lack of allergen information on the menu which is a surprise to me. The food dishes that had been prepared on site by the chefs were delicious including the burgers and lamb shanks however the pre-made items like the desserts were terrible with no flavour. Let your chefs make the food I know it will cost more but it'll taste a lot better as they know what they are doing and make great food.

Food was excellent, service was slow but this was we were told due to a rush (3 tables) coming in at once not what I as an ex chef calls a rush. The girl serving told us she only started 2 days prior and could have done with some training first as we were not informed of the specials which I noticed on the way out but was however friendly and polite. Not put of and will definitely call back meat in the mixed grill was all first class.

We have eaten on 2 separate occasions, both were carvery days. Absolutely super meals both times, great selection of vegetables, meats were tender and tasty, we are definitely booking again. Highly recommended.

Sadly i was attending a wake. The beers certainly need a revisit in the near future. It's a spacious, clean pub. We did eat here several years ago and the food was very nice but that was pre covid. It's certainly on our places to visit list.

Decided to try the Wagon and Horses as we had heard that the food was good. The food was fantastic. We went on a Wednesday so I had the carvery and the beef was excellent. My Dad had the steak pie which he absolutely loved. Very friendly and professional service. We will definitely be going back. Highly recommend.

Once again, as with every visit, a superb meal, the carvery is delicious, we will not be eating anywhere else if the choice of venue is ours to make. Lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff, the food is excellent and the prices are so reasonable. I would highly recommend that every one try this pub, in our opinion it is brilliant.

Could do better learn from the professionals go to the wishing well

Eight of us went for dinner on Saturday evening, table booked for 8 o'clock. Service was excellent. One of the best menus for miles around, steaks, mixed grill, liver, fish etc etc absolutely spoiled for choice. We had the full works, starters, mains and desert followed by coffees and brandy. Everything was overseen by a lady called Ann who could not be faulted. Our bottles of red wine were opened early and allowed to breathe. Highly recommended and this restaurant will now be firmly on our dining out schedule.

We visited family & decided to eat out. I ordered the Rib Eye. Medium rare for me, cooked perfectly. On our table was stuffed pepper, rack of lamb & a chicken & mash dish. Lovely atmosphere & lovely friendly staff. I'd highly recommend a visit.

Utterly gorgeous food, just like Nan used to make. We had the two pies just to see us thru the walk home and ended up catching the bus home with two dogs! Lovely fresh beers (I had Bishops Farewell) and a selection of flavoured gin plus good old fashioned Guinness without the "Extra Cooling" that they seem to think everyone wants. Thoroughly enjoyable visit, pull in and you won't be disappointed.🍻

Struggling to dine here. We have been twice in mid week and have been turned away twice, this time due to staff shortage. Another (drinking) customer recommended the Goat at Frognall and we had an excellent meal.

First visit to this lovely place as we are not local, brilliant meal,as I'm gluten free,not a problem at all which was such a relief,also I was with two vegetarians who were well catered for,our meals were all very good,the young lady serving was very patient and helpful with our needs,it all was very enjoyable,thank you,it's just a shame we live in Oxford,a bit too far to be our local.

Just had yet another meal in this village pub. My 3 children have just treated me to a birthday dinner. Myself my partner all agreed the whole night was amazing. Food of high quality. Portion size just perfect and timing great. Incredible place as always. Thankyou for making my evening perfect.

Richard who runs the Waggon and Horses and his team did the food for our wedding. The menu he prepared was excellent, and met all tastes and the food and table presentation were superb. This is our favourite place to eat, the food is great, provides value for money, and the atmosphere and staff are very welcoming

Had a absolute fantastic meal here. T.. My mum was taken in and the landlady was absolutely amazing stayed with us the whole time till ambulance arrived ( I think her name was Caroline) mum very well thank you. The choice of food was brilliant. Would highly recommend it and we will definitely go back xx

Food was first class and the young lady that served us was lovely. Would recomend the rack of lamb and the syrup sponge pudding.

What a fantastic meal the family had . But also the care as my Mum collapsed in the garden and Debbie stayed with us the whole time . She ran 999 and sorted things for us . She made sure we were and didnt leave us until the ambulance took Mum to hospital which was about 2 hours later . That's what I call caring , such a lovely lady and my sister and I appreciated that kindness so much .
