W2 World Buffet Restaurant in Middlesbrough

Place was manic!! Food was below average tough chicken most stuff tasted same ie sweet sour, nd peking! prawns still had shells on under batter🤮🤢 Indian food didn't even taste like Indian lol, Steak well a feed me dog better meat overall, GARBAGE!!!! On thee other hand if your obese or just a pure greedy so nd so well this place will suit ye down to the ground!!!

Good place, odd smack head gets in, but generally good, cola chicken is lovely. Escalators to get in and out, toilets are stunning and music is blasted in so you can pass wind or poop as loud as you want.

This was our second and last visit. We went to celebrate my daughter’s birthday as she liked the desserts this first time we visited. Both times I found the staff quite rude and unprofessional. First visit in summer, my daughter and I went to eat, meanwhile my toddler was fast asleep in the pram. I explained that she was asleep and wouldn’t be eating and if she woke up during the visit, I would come back to pay for her too. Someone literally stood over us and as soon as she woke up, marched to our table to request immediate payment without me having the opportunity to go and pay. This visit, we had booked for my daughter’s birthday, a few of her friends joined and some adult family members too. We paid on arrival as you do with one more on the way, we were shown to our table put coats on chairs and at that my friend, that last guest arrived looking for us…. I spotted the Manager following her and met them half way to explain she hadn’t been before and was coming to check in, she just wanted to make sure we were there. He rudely explained that “Policy” stated no one was able to join a table after you had sat down. I pointed out that we had not yet “sat down”, had been in the building all of a couple of mins but did not see the issue as she was also a paying customer! We had our first course (basic Chinese food and some salad) then they cleared away our plates but not the plates from the table the children were at. I asked if a waiter could take away the plates and they said they were leaving them there as they wanted to speak to us about “policy” again this time on food wastage (one of the children left some noodles that didn’t taste very nice and another left a few chips that were cold) I explained that I was unaware of these policies and would like the plates removed so that the kids could eat dessert. One of the kids wanted some strawberries but was refused unless she ordered a crepe too, (seems strange and out of line with their food wastage policy if unwanted) anyway, she opted for other fruit instead. They must have a lot of people looking to dodge payment or leave lots of food as it seemed to be something they looked for and quoted regularly! All in all, food was “OK”, Service levels absolutely terrible but if you want a nice meal out with your family or friends without a line of waiters stood staring at tables looking for ways pick out diners not meeting policies, I really wouldn’t recommend this place!!!

Some of the food was good but about a third of what I had (so not everything on offer) wasn't great. The staff were nice, the place was clean and the beer was cold so not too bad.

Loads of different dishes to choose from but most of the staff look miserable and charging kids by height instead of age is a joke, adult price for my 11 year old who despite the fact he doesnt eat a lot but because hes tall we had to pay adult price for him

I've wanted to visit here for years and today I was finaly going to, I was so excited, but I was so disappointed 😞 there was hardly any choice in food, few Chinese dishes, nd couple of indians , best part was deserts, and yes it was much menu, but I expected better

It's a lovely place, with lots of tasty food. The variety is top-notch. There's value for money as well. Remember to come hungry, though.

Loads of choice in food. Definitely advise booking table in advance and bring cash as you can sometimes get served quicker if there is a problem with card scanners.

The food is good, However the staff are quite rude & mostly incompetent. In particular a Pakistani chef on the grill who looked miserable & was very difficult to deal with as he basically didn’t want to be there. He just basically hated his job or maybe hated the customers… I am not sure

The food was lovely but the floor was wet and i went flying. The staff seen me fall and didnt care all they was bothered about was cleaning the floor after it happened so they didnt get in to trouble. The staff did not come up to me to ask if i am okay. My mother had to move plates to next table as no one came to take them as they was a big fammily of us. Would not recommend coming here again

It would have been alot higher if the man on the bar yesterday had been more polite and less rude. He was rude to his colleagues, to customers etc. I know there were issues with some machines but he was very verbal about how annoyed he was, and took it out on other people. If he is a bar manager I suggest he gets re-trained. Food was excellent, other staff were very helpful.

We where there last night . My daughter fell as the floor was wet, and.she hurt her hand. The staff didn't come over to her to ask if she was ok but as soon as she moved they was drying the step where she fell . i would never go back

If you want food poisoning at a high price point and poor customer service, be my guest. I don't know why there is always a queue to get in here. I have met more people who complain of how bad the food is here than who actually rate this place. It's the bottom of the bottom food places. I am convinced some of the 5 star reviews are fake. I had the worst food experience here. Hold that trophy world buffet. Had fried prawns and they tasted like they'd been cooked last year and left there, so I left them on the plate. I went for a second plate and got noodles and black bean sauce which tasted like what i imagine animal excrement would taste like. I was not expecting that at all. It was so awful to the point I gave up eating. Money down to waste. Never again. Save your money. Save yourself from food poisoning . There is zero food standards here... Plus, staff are always rude here.

lovely place for couples or families, and a selection of great food really enjoyed it

I like this place, been about ten times. Food always good, of a higher standard than most buffets and because busy food turns over quickly so never sat for long periods. Excellent amount of choice and of course all u can eat. Brilliant choice of deserts including two separate members of staff, one making fresh ice cream roll and one making crepes (my favs were biscoff ice cream roll but has to be nutella on a crepe). The reason i dont score it any higher is down to, your individual experience on the night as to who serves you. Quite often had drama at the front counter about payment, or their own loyalty scheme or more so when two of our party were delayed after their car got hit on the way. Staff were having none of it and said we either sat without them and they were not allowed to join us on arrival or we had to leave. Great way to treat loyal customers. Does it stop me going, no! Still enjoy the food and sitting chatting with friends. Oh and the birthday music/robot can get annoying lol

The customer service is nothing to write hime about. First, the lady at the pay point was not concerned enough to explain the drinks refill policy to us (which still makes no sense to me), just because one of our party of 3 didn't want a drink. All the other waiting staff were unreasonably rude and unwilling to assist us when called upon. Then I had the worst case of food poisoning afterwards. Then, we were not allowed to take a group photo at the table. This put us all off entirely. This was my 5th and worst experience in W2.

Food decent, nothing special , waiters ignorant. Floor was soaking wet so I slipped over and when I told the waiter that my food was on the floor he just blanked me and walked away , should really have wet floor sign

Absolutely jam packed they use cheap food and pop now lots of cold food and more like a cattle market I will not go ahain

Love this place very good value for money

Just to make everyone aware, if you have a large party, there is a 2 hour session for all parties. And don't be tempted to take sweets home doggy bag style as one of our party tried. It's frowond apon, and everyone is monitored at all times by cctv. The food is fantastic. Everyone was happy with the variety and quality. The atmosphere was a bit oppressive as the venue is on the dark side, and it seemed that half of the staff were not so happy to be there. But only half of our 13 party would return to this venue again.

First time visiting so wasn't sure on what to expect. But we were NOT disappointed there was an array of food from everywhere e.g Chinese, Indian, Italian Sushi, English Carvery, Rest of the World which included Parmasan Boro Style. We started with Chinese food which was very flavoursome; then went for Italian. The pepperoni and Margarita pizza was good and the pasta was a bit too cheesy for my liking but still nice. We then tried a few Indian Foods Samosa, curry, pork; spring rolls which were all good. Dessert had a insane amount of options e.g cakes brownies jelly ice-cream and a white chocolate fountain with marshmallows (my personal favorite) then we queued up (while being full) and got some rolled ice-cream. The flavor we picked was mixed berry. They prepared it in-front of you and were OK for you to video the process. The tartness of the berries along with the sweet ice cream was fantastic. We finished lots of food and it was around 45£ for 3 people including drinks. You didn't have a time limit; just were told to be mindful of what you put on your plate as waste isn't liked. Overall the experience was good and would love to come back again. I 'd highly recommend. Charlie age 11

Not bad, not great, get what you pay for. Some of the food was decent but the soft drinks taste like alloy wheel cleaner and the mint ice cream had a proper fake taste to it like that mint shower gel.

Thank you so much to the brave staff last night who worked through the riot to feed us and give those of us who did not want to be locked up at home somewhere safe and welcoming to sit it out. Warm friendly people like you and your lovely guests are the soul and fabric of this town.

Visited on a Tuesday evening in the school summer holidays. The restaurant offered a nice variety of British Chinese restaurant dishes, all served hot and not padded out with lots of onion. There was also a carvery station with roast potatoes and roast meat, four Indian-style curries, and a huge pudding selection. Every dish was labelled with allergens. My family has a variety of food allergies, and this is the first time in years we've eaten out without having to check ingredients with an underpaid staff member. It was amazing. I'd love to see more vegan options - particularly for dessert, which were mostly milk-based. The staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. The restaurant was busy, but we never had to queue for food, and staff were working hard to keep tables tidy and the buffet stocked. We will absolutely be returning!

Was very surprised tbh, I hate buffets but my fiancée convinced me to go. The food was good and plenty selection to choose from. Being a Saturday night it was busy but the food trays were filled constantly so each time I went back for more it was all fresh and hot food again. I would definitely return even though I’m not a fan of buffet.

Lovely food and really friendly staff, restaurant always clean and tidy never had an issues with them. I treat my mother once a month for food out and we always choose here.

Really disappointed in this buffet and it’s average at best. Quantity of food is high but the overall quality is poor. Non branded soft drinks is unacceptable when paying premium prices. Staff are miserable. Everyone is made to be seated near each other. The kebab meat is the frozen rubbish from Heron. Many of the main meals are over powered with salt and of the poorest ingredients. I don’t mind cheap ice cream but this stuff is the worst I’ve ever tasted. Such a shame the prices have increased over the years and the quality eroded gradually. I won’t come back again. Was better a few years ago. For the price you are better eating at a nice restaurant.

Absolute appalling service, totally get they prioritise bookings but having you wait while they take payments from 54 individuals and not have any other member of staff taking other customers in is terrible. Attitude from staff is horrendous too

Visited here on a Monday 22nd of July 2024 price was £10.95 (adults). Good restaurant, they do pancakes where you have to queue up chocolate cakes, the normal Chinese And a chocolate fountain well busy highly recommended I don't know about Sunday never been but will definitely be visiting again.... been again since the lockdown you now have to download a app to order of your phone you can do it the old fashioned way but our waiter didn't tell me this he just expected me to know these things. The lad on the payment counter was more helpful when I complained I said shouldn't you have a notice at the Front door to tell people before they enter because not everyone is clued up about these things , I only went in to get something to eat it spoilt the whole experience for me if I had gone on my own I would have still been sat there lucky I was there with my 13-year-old who knew what to do obviously that doesn't work for everyone does it so why don't they just write it down what you want on a piece of paper instead of you sitting there getting yourself al frustrated and what if you didn't have a smartphone .?? Or enough charge even Anyway, enough of me rambling on, they now serve it to you but they only give you small portions but you can order as many times as you like but pre covid-19 you filled your plate up didn't you . Been since in may 2022 and now everything is back to normal you get up and serve yourself

I didn't like the taste of the food

Very busy on a Saturday night but that's good in an all you can eat, it means the food is always freshly cooked excellent selection and not expensive

Very nice food and a variety of food choices and sweets. however the staff is very rude! They don't communicate and they look at you like they are sick of their lives. They don't smile and their expressions make you wanna leave, you don't feel free to eat because you feel like they're judging you. They don't clean the tables unless you tell them to even though its a buffet and its their job as the tables need to be cleaned.

Food is just to say ok - I even found a free false nail in the strawberry ice cream 🙈 Very expensive for the quality of what's on offer. You could go to Aneesas in Newcastle for a couple of quid more and experience high quality buffet that'll make you realise how substandard W2 is!

This could vastly be improved. Always feel like your being watched. Drinks are very overpriced. Overall I wouldnt return. Surely must be better places than this in the area? They also need to imply some sort of dress code. Loads walking around in scruffy tracksuits, sports shorts etc.

Load of rubbish, flat warm pop, all the chinese stuff stinks of sweaty feet, all deep fat fried, bloated after 2 plates

Paid £110 for our food my child had finished and had penny sweets left over instead of going in the bin he put them in he’s pocket a lady come over asking him to remove them and put them in the big I said theirs a hand full of penny sweets won’t harm any one greedy horrible service absolute jobs worths won’t be returning here

The length of the queue suggests how good this place is, we waited around 20 mins to get in and be seated. Lovely food with so much choice and all you can eat. Everything was hot and nicely presented, staff constantly checking service areas were stocked and clean, waiters collecting empty plates so your table didn't get crowded. The choice of desserts was amazing and fresh with choice for anyone to enjoy. Will definitely go back.

Sadly NO option for NO stars, Food disgusting reheated basically ready meal very cheap ,,staff rude disrespectful impolite very poor service,food options plates chipped cutlery dirty ,one scoop for ice cream kept in dirty water ,toilets rarely flush hand basin taps rarely work ,seating far too close together could never have private conversation seriously requires council hygiene out !!!! Will never visit again

Arrived to a que, it's literally the only downside to eating here, you will que and you will wait. Everything else though great! Food choices are very good, all fresh, constant rotation, excellent choice selection and very well maintained! 10/10 worth the wait!, will be back again.

Visited the restaurant last night 3 adults and 5 children one just 10 months old ….. we ordered 3 refillables and 2 fruit shoots 2 tap waters … were told we were not allowed tap water we had to have have a paid for drink so two adults ended up with a fruit shoot as we just said we’ll have the cheapest on the menu as we genuinely didn’t want a drink as we had just had loads at level x across the road .. got asked what the 10 month old was having… with very few teeth she had already had her food , got told in a very rude manner that if the baby was to have even a chip we would be charged …. Got taken to the table where I then asked again if I could have a tap water which the waiter said yes that I just had to go to the bar….. yet 2 minutes prior to this I wasn’t allowed we had to pay for a drink! We went and got our food to which I was very disappointed with chicken was either hard or raw in the different dishes …chips were scrappy , chicken nuggets were solid and freezing cold ….. felt like the waiters were watching us 24/7 incase we dared to have a sip of each others drink! And just incase the baby decided to munch on a chicken parmo! I think for the £150 bill the service just be a lot better and not made to feel like your on surveillance…. Maybe a smile wouldn’t hurt off the staff …. The only edible thing in my opinion was the desserts! Definitely not worth the price will not be returning … plenty of nicer restaurants and service with a smile on linthorpe road!

I honestly feel sorry for the chefs having to cook with ingredients that world buffet provides them. Slimy chicken, terrible quality pork and prawns that can’t have seen the ocean this decade. Everything was cold, you could confuse the sauces for cordial it’s so thin and the sweet and sour was bland and blander. The worst part has to be that for two adults and two children cost me almost £75!!! And the icing on the cake had to be that I wasn’t told the price and when I asked I was scoffed at!!

Excellent restaurant have been multiple times. Kids love going there for a treat tea, the deserts are amazing, and the variations of food is top notch, we recently went to celebrate my son’s 18th and he got a free birthday cake. Can’t recommend this place enough

Food not bad but beware high restrictions making you pay adult price if your child is over 1meter high have spoken to trading standards and legal requirements high is 1.4 meters over that you may have to pay adult price

Staff are rude. Food is disgusting and tastes like it’s been there for days. Vile. Will never go again. definitely do not try it!!

Information on flyer didn't suggest a 2 hr only stay. My family and I were having fun after paying full price for even an 11yr old, but we're interrupted as having overstayed. We had barely taken our main course before being asked to "start making our way out". We started at 12.50 pm and asked to make our way out at 14.44pm. Neither the website nor flyer stated maximum time frame for stay. It's really embarrassing and shouldn't be for the kind of place!!!

Mixed views on this place... Food was plentiful although the selection they boast on the website is optimistic at best. Large selection of Asian dishes, limited everything else. Large variety of deserts but I was too full by that point. Beer at around £5 a pint with one half price was decent. Staff seemed to have their own banter going so looks like an alright place to work at least. If you like Asian food then go for it. No bags available however

Amazing place to go, just a bit loud for me but I still had a good time. You will head the happy birthday song played every 10 mins that was a bit much, no one was even singing. What's not to love a place where all the picky eaters can go.

One of the few restaurants that can accommodate a party of 18 although only when we arrived did they inform us it was two tables back to back. The food, plenty full and enjoyable. Overall enjoyable evening

This one star is basically based on the face we were charged full price for 11 and 10 year old children just because they were tall…. 1st time this has happened absolutely shocking to be honest

We have always found the restaurant very clean and the food is hot. Everything that can be is nicely covered and labelled so you know what it is .there is ice-cream dessert candyfloss crapes chocolate fountain the kids will go wild. There is so much to choose from English Chinese Indian sushi parmo pizza the list is endless. Just have a good look round before you dig in. ENJOY.

We were all really pleased with the choice available and the quality of the food. We visited at lunchtime, so there were some noticeable gaps where more foods are offered on a night? such as turkish kebabs, bao buns and several other dishes. Our choice was mostly chinese options, with a small indian section, some thai dishes/curries, an italian section with pizzas and a few random bits and pieces in the little cubby there - cooked meats, corn on the cob, couple of salads etc. I really enjoyed the noodles :-P and there was several stirfries/curries that I kept going back to :-) Salt and pepper chips were yummy too. Then usual egg fried rice and oyster crackers etc. There is even a little suishi conveyor belt which a good range of options. Whilst not as amazing as the Japanese suishi restaurant in town (obviously!) the fact that they include this option in the buffet is fantastic :-) I don't eat seafood so my choice was a reduced because of this, but still loads I can eat! I also have a nut allergy and there were very few dishes that were restricted to me because of this. The dessert selection was excellent! The ice-cream rolls are very popular and sooo tasty :-) unfortunately the queue for these is very slow moving, so avoid unless 3 persons or less as I was still stood waiting for 15 minutes as they take a while to make. Defo worth it though! The crepes take a little while to make too but are excellent! Plus selection of cakes, scoop ice-cream, waffles, a few sweets, popcorn, some fruits and the ever-popular chocolate fountain with marshmallows! It was very busy on a saturday lunchtime, but to be expected! We arrived at opening to avoid the queues and glad we did, when we left around 2ish it looked like people would be queuing for half an hour or more. Staff all friendly and helpful, restaurant was clean as were toilets. Suffice to say we all left extremely stuffed!! and for £16 each we thought it to be great value. I will return on an evening to see what extra dishes are offered.

The staff's conduct was impolite, and the manager's response was similarly discourteous when I attempted to address the matter. I would advise caution due to their lack of customer focus. Additionally, the majority of the food is of poor quality and appears to be frozen.

Very disappointed with the way dinner turned out at W2. Poor quality of food, with missing items from menu that were advertised online. Almost no main course halal options and limited vegetarian menu. Poor quality drinks and desserts. Disappointing customer service and ambience. Should avoid if possible.

Can't complain about food or service really! If you go on an evening or weekend there should be signs up saying you need to ask for burgers and steaks to be cooked as I've went a few times and never found them and wouldn't of if someone I know didn't tell me!!

Most of the food was cold & wasn’t really fresh. Then it started getting put away around 9pm even though they didn’t close until 10pm. So only managed to go for 1 plate of mains. Then half of the desserts had been packed up so there wasn’t much of that on offer either!

Food is nice and everything looks nice .. but the staff aren't nice .. you feel like you're in prison and they want you to eat fast and get out .. feel like they're waiting for you to slip up and they're expecting you to put food in your bag for later or something . It is not relaxing and they cram everyone in the same area so it's really busy and hectic like being in a wasps nest or something

I and my partner went to W2 World Buffet this afternoon while visiting in Middlesbrough. We waited in a queue to pay and to be shown to a table. When we were approached at the queue, I told the waiter, whom later introduced himself as the manager. I spoke to him I had gluten and milk allergies and if their food a void of this. He said yes, so we proceeded to make payments and before he showed us to our table. On going round the displayed food and signs, I only found egg fried rice and some fried egg that had no gluten and milk. I found some prawns the looked breaded, but was sceptical to plate it. Asked to talk to the manager about this and why even the vegetables such as mushrooms contained gluten or milk. When the manager came, I realised he was the same person that showed us to our sit and whom I had talked to about my allergies. He started shouting at me when I asked why he didn't tell me my needs will not be attended to. This was an unplanned visit to this restaurant and I didn't read about their menus online before attending it, however the least he would have done was to tell us that these needs won't be met instate of shouting at customers. The least I asked the manager was if I had some vegetables with no gluten in it, so I could join my partner who was already sitting down with his food. We had paid by card, and our money was eventually refunded, but what off we didn't have more money to eat somewhere else? It's 3 to 5 working days for refunds to reach the customer's account and its unfair for anyone to go through what this manager did. Please avoid this restaurant if you have allergies because they won't look after your needs.

Great selection of food all well cooked and plentiful

Lovely food and lots of choice. If you're abig eater its worth a visit. The handmade ice cream is delicious.

Excellent service and excellent value for money

Came here with my brother for the evening buffet and I was really surprised of just how much choice there were, you would have to be a competitive eater to be able to try all the food as there really is so much. I couldn't complain about any of it. Really nice you should give this place a try. I will be returning.

Lovely place, nice food. Only thing at fault is customer service, very unorganised, rude arrogant and arressive mainly the manager! Which is worrying! Very disappointing and off putting. I have visited since posting this review and it has massively improved!

Avoid.Really rubbish. I accidentally took some lemonade this resulted as I was treated as a criiminal and the guy took it from me. After paying 60 pounds for a dinner. Being vegetarian it was hardly any vegetarian food. Safe your money and go somewhere else.

I'll start with the main negatives, the queue to get in is shocking on busy days, not because of the time but that fact the way in is also the way out. It really needs a separate exit so people aren't having to shove past each other. Next the price is absolutely absurbed, cost us over £100 for 2 adults and 3 kids (mainly this was because my 10 year old is taller than the stupid sign and we had to pay full price for her). Now the positives, the food is really good, well prepared, displayed and freshly cooked. Hot, good quality and fresh food is 100% achieved in this establishment. The array of food is fantastic also with a real potential to sample different foods from all four corners of the world. Service is good and they are very attentive to needs and wants. Toilets weren't as fresh as they could have been but it was a busy Sunday afternoon.

Their is a very good variety of meals there which makes it very lovely. I had a great time out with my friends. It was indeed a beautiful experience. It's pocket friendly as well, I'd like to think so. I'd definitely visit again sometime.
