W2 World Buffet Restaurant in Middlesbrough

I and my partner went to W2 World Buffet this afternoon while visiting in Middlesbrough. We waited in a queue to pay and to be shown to a table. When we were approached at the queue, I told the waiter, whom later introduced himself as the manager. I spoke to him I had gluten and milk allergies and if their food a void of this. He said yes, so we proceeded to make payments and before he showed us to our table. On going round the displayed food and signs, I only found egg fried rice and some fried egg that had no gluten and milk. I found some prawns the looked breaded, but was sceptical to plate it. Asked to talk to the manager about this and why even the vegetables such as mushrooms contained gluten or milk. When the manager came, I realised he was the same person that showed us to our sit and whom I had talked to about my allergies. He started shouting at me when I asked why he didn't tell me my needs will not be attended to. This was an unplanned visit to this restaurant and I didn't read about their menus online before attending it, however the least he would have done was to tell us that these needs won't be met instate of shouting at customers. The least I asked the manager was if I had some vegetables with no gluten in it, so I could join my partner who was already sitting down with his food. We had paid by card, and our money was eventually refunded, but what off we didn't have more money to eat somewhere else? It's 3 to 5 working days for refunds to reach the customer's account and its unfair for anyone to go through what this manager did. Please avoid this restaurant if you have allergies because they won't look after your needs.

One of the best restaurants I been to in town. Great value for money

Food is nice and everything looks nice .. but the staff aren't nice .. you feel like you're in prison and they want you to eat fast and get out .. feel like they're waiting for you to slip up and they're expecting you to put food in your bag for later or something . It is not relaxing and they cram everyone in the same area so it's really busy and hectic like being in a wasps nest or something

Great selection of food all well cooked and plentiful

Lovely food and lots of choice. If you're abig eater its worth a visit. The handmade ice cream is delicious.

Excellent service and excellent value for money

Came here with my brother for the evening buffet and I was really surprised of just how much choice there were, you would have to be a competitive eater to be able to try all the food as there really is so much. I couldn't complain about any of it. Really nice you should give this place a try. I will be returning.

Lovely place, nice food. Only thing at fault is customer service, very unorganised, rude arrogant and arressive mainly the manager! Which is worrying! Very disappointing and off putting. I have visited since posting this review and it has massively improved!

Avoid.Really rubbish. I accidentally took some lemonade this resulted as I was treated as a criiminal and the guy took it from me. After paying 60 pounds for a dinner. Being vegetarian it was hardly any vegetarian food. Safe your money and go somewhere else.

I'll start with the main negatives, the queue to get in is shocking on busy days, not because of the time but that fact the way in is also the way out. It really needs a separate exit so people aren't having to shove past each other. Next the price is absolutely absurbed, cost us over £100 for 2 adults and 3 kids (mainly this was because my 10 year old is taller than the stupid sign and we had to pay full price for her). Now the positives, the food is really good, well prepared, displayed and freshly cooked. Hot, good quality and fresh food is 100% achieved in this establishment. The array of food is fantastic also with a real potential to sample different foods from all four corners of the world. Service is good and they are very attentive to needs and wants. Toilets weren't as fresh as they could have been but it was a busy Sunday afternoon.

Great selection of good food will return again

All you can eat. Good food and lots of variety. Never had a bad experience here yet. Choices of English food, Chinese, Indian, Japanese and a whole range of desserts. Can sometimes be a big queue to get in, but certainly worth the visit.

Their is a very good variety of meals there which makes it very lovely. I had a great time out with my friends. It was indeed a beautiful experience. It's pocket friendly as well, I'd like to think so. I'd definitely visit again sometime.

They’ve have nice meals, which ranges from halal to non-halal food. If you’re on budget I recommend W2 buffet, you’ll definitely enjoy yourself, they have nice staff and a cool atmosphere. I’ll definitely visit some other time.

vast choice of food with influences from all over the world. large seating area, service is quick to clear plates.

Lovely food always HOT. Good prices and great decor.. egg foo yung the best I've had by far . Lots ok noise kids but be prepared.. this place has everything especially for kids .. price I paid was unlimited soft drinks

Tough one as a buffet. It's absolutely manic at all times. They say leave the plates on the tables which we did. When we returned the plates were still there so I moved them and was told off so stars off for the service. Some food is lovely some clearly been left for hours but that's not really their fault if people aren't eating it why replenish? If you are starving it's a good place to fill up. Fairly expensive compared to Chinese buffets down south though.

It's a nice place to eat out with friends and family

Good selection of all you can each from Italian to Japanese. Does get really busy and you have to queue for about 20 mins

Some foods feel too dry because they reheat too many times

this place is lovely overall, but some issues did appear staff was strict , rude we didn’t manage to celebrate my birthday since u had to bring ur “own cake “ food was small more desserts food didn’t have good variety and looked old from yesterday overall not happy but still trying to stay positive.

All you can eat buffet. Variety of intercontinental meals. Love it

When I went with my nana there wasn't a huge selection the jelly was hard and didn't taste right the cakes were hard as well dint have many Chinese dishes or sushi 😕 but place does look nice 👌

Food was very good quality. We arrived just after 5pm ..... such a variety of food. Everything was fresh. Only complaint was that my tummy couldn't cope with more. Spot on.

Since getting to the UK, I’ve not been to any restaurant. Today, my wife asked that we visit together and have a nice meal. It was totally worth it! We had a variety of options to choose from and each meal was of great taste. Yes, I would recommend if you’re on a budget.

Nice night with friends for tea just a bit scary when staff member was screaming at people to get off the escalator causing people to panic .

Decent buffet if you're a meat eater, however the vegetarian options were very few and far between and vegan options were non-existent. Anyone with any dietary restrictions should steer clear or be extremely cautious as food labelling left a lot to be desired (a dish clearly containing prawns was labelled vegetarian, a dish labelled as 'plain noodles' was stated to include meat. Salad bar was very limited (cucumber, iceberg lettuce and tomato). Sushi bar had a system of veg dishes on green plates and fish on purple, however this was clearly not being followed and there was no different station/surface/gloves between the prep of the fish and veg dishes. Service was good by staff seen, all very quick and efficient.

I arrived at the buffet with high hopes after seeing all the hype and was bitterly disappointed. Upon arriving I noticed one of the escalators was broken but otherwise not a bad first impression. I paid roughly 9.99 for the buffet and 3.50 for a glass to top up. After being seated by a very informative staff member me and a friend went to get our food which is where the disappointment started. We expected to see many options from around the world but all we could see was Chinese. The ribs had no meat on and some were cold. The rice holds were practically empty. There was a few nice looking options but after getting them on my plate and a closer inspection some of the chicken looked to be raw and less than appetising to the point I spat some out onto a napkin. All of the food was just cheap looking rubbish and tasted just as bad. If you ever feel like going save the time and just order from your local chinese takeaway. The drink options were just as bad i asked for coke at the bar which i thaught would be coca cola with being so expensive. But i ended up with cola that you can buy 2 litre bottled of for 50p in the supermarket. An absolute waste of money.

Took my daughter here with friends and family for her birthday and she loved it from the food but spent more time in the desert section and they even give her a free birthday cake which made her day staff were friendly and great atmosphere

A nice experience. A place to eat and enjoy yourself with the best of delicacies. Imagine paying a little token to eat as much as you want for hours non stop. Where are the foodie? A place to eat and eat as much as you want for a token is near you in Middlesbrough. Go and have an experience

Lovely and the char sui pork is amazing

I do feel it was maybe not the right place for us to dine. We don't have massive appetites and had 3 children with us. I felt, therefore, it was a little on the expensive side for the amount we consumed. There were no leftovers on our plates, and we loved that we were asked kindly not to waste food. It was very busy so rather loud. The service and staff were really good and the choices were fantastic. Would recommend if you like that of restaurant

So to be fair it wasn't watch expected for me it in delivers the quantity for quality yes the food was ok but some of the food was tasteless like the Indian currys had no taste to them however there was some lovely food like the oysters and fish selection kids loved the sweet selection well worth a visit

First time here . Great selection of food and this was a tueaday evening and quite a few people in.. the ribs and chicken are to die for . I just wish my belly was big enough to try everything. Good also on the unlimited refill. Will defo come back soon. Don't know what their are haters . Keep up the good work

The price on a afternoon was reasonable with a wide verity of food on offer from Chinese to pizza and Currys with desserts would go back but the drinks are unlimited but are extra from the food price

On arriving at establishment our party hadnt arrived so they wouldnt let us in to get refreshments so upon paying getting escorted to our seats party 11 couldnt get seated together so spread over 2 tables asked for manager to come to talble who was very rude and obnoxious who said we were told on the mobile cellular device that a party of 11 wouldnt be seated together and was spread over 2 tables. Once getting ones food whilst walking around you could see the quality of the food was lacking the duck looked like it was the last person that had complained when i went to where the teesside parmo was served there was non there and went 20 minutes later there was still none i asked the chef where it was and he said it would be a 15/20 minute wait unacceptable and there was no lasagna and food was chewy and cold and the indian was bland and wasnt lovely All in all bad experience wouldnt recomend

Went there with my sister after going to cineworld in Middlesborough the queue was massive but quickly went down we were directed to our seats by a great waiter the food is unbelievable pizza hashbrowns Chinese food ,anything u imagined it was there ,the atmosphere was solid lots of kids around but what do u expect its w2 buffet genuinely couldn't of beated it on that day the pizza was cut to small pieces but I didn't mind it tasted like dominoes pizza I don't like Chinese food but it was great all around lots of friendly staff on hand the desert was out of this world marshmallows ,brownies , fruit choclate cake ,pavlova pfatoroles, and more evrything was solid rating 9.7 out of ten there is vegetarian options too wouldnt recommend if your on a diet lol !

Went at one of the busiest times and other than the que to get it absolute amazing time. Food was delicious even if the cakes and deserts were a little stale over all 10 out of 10 great food friendly staff had a lovely birthday meal for 5 of us and we all enjoyed it along with not one of us having bad guts the day after....... thats when you know its a good grub. Hats off to the chef's and thankyou to hospitality staff for making it an experience to remember

Great food but so much choice. You have to visit a few times to try many of different options but everything I've had has been amazing.

Sushi bar was pretty warm and underwhelming - good selection of food at the expected level of quality, really inconsistent chicken, alot of the fried chicken was very sinewy. Salted caramel profiteroles are the bomb.

Love this place me n my girlfriend go every date day the foods always lovely

Great variety of food, always fresh and constantly getting replenished. We went Tuesday evening and there was no problem with getting a table without booking. There is no parking at the restaurant but there is a multistory car park only a few minutes walk away.

The donner meat tasted artificial and looked reheated but staff were good and adequate but the atmosphere was ruined by kids running around massive queues for toilets and the constant birthday music so overall it wasn’t a good experience.

Nice place to visit to enjoy the ambience

Food isn’t great 90% of it was stone cold. The que to get in was about 30 mins. It was too busy I couldn’t even walk round and look at what I was actually putting on my plate because of the amount of people in there it was too crowded

Lovely food but I had a party of 7 last night and everone but myself has been vomiting all today but I only had a small plate of sweet and sour chicken.

Lovely food but absolutely freezing in there so your food gets cold so quick and hard to enjoy your food as its so cold in there. Nearly every time we have been in they have sat us next to someone else even when they is barely anyone in there. Then you normally get the people next to you staring at you making it highly uncomfortable. Staff are not exactly welcoming and friendly.

A bit expensive but not all food was ready especially in weekdays

Can't complain about food or service really! If you go on an evening or weekend there should be signs up saying you need to ask for burgers and steaks to be cooked as I've went a few times and never found them and wouldn't of if someone I know didn't tell me!!

Not for people who like good food. Only good for those people who like "All In" holidays but it has a large variety of foods from various countries . Must pay extra for drinks.

First time my work mate & myself have been to this restaurant it’s amazing the staff where very professional, the food was very tasty Carnt wait to go back

Spent over 100 pound for six people . Children were obviously a problem from the start with the floor staff . Plates were took before we were finished eating . All staff were miserable and abrupt especially one mini Sargent major who was relentlessly picking on all customers

We really enjoyed our experience here. Food was hit and miss some really good some not so nice. But looks amazing inside.

Most of the food is chinese/Cantonese, even the Indian curry tastes Chinese style

Food quickly cold given buffet style. Each to own I am sure others will enjoy. Maybe encourage uptake of reward scheme as missed it.

If you like Iceland party food at extortionate prices. Perhaps coughed over, children taking a piece or a bite, deciding it's not for them and then proceeding to put it back, then be our guest. Worst experience I've ever had. Food was low quality, everything tasted the same. The guests just didn't bother with utensils, just used their hands. Staff didn't police the stations. Granted any spillages were cleared promptly. It resembled nothing short of a cattle market, soft drinks were cheap mixers. Half of the stations were empty. Sorry but will not be returning and the parmo was an embarrassment. Repetitive Chinese food with a smash up of a parmo and some hash browns 😷

Really poor experience for an all you can eat resttaurant. Very busy and had to wait 20-30 mins to be seated. Only 2 of us went. Most food wasnt being replenished so was not a lot of choice. And what was there resembled a cheap buffet party pack. Not much flavour, didnt try any desserts as we had had enough of folk coughing over the food. Picking bits up and putting them back, no order bit of a free for all. I wouldnt go back here if it was last place to eat.

Not bad for your money , plenty of food and it’s decent quality . Really fast staff -there is stations where you have food made for you to your preferences. The massive problem is that it takes about 1/2 an hour of waiting to get in or you can pay £1 PER person to book a table

was probably pretty nice for a buffet place and staff were all nice , but went thoughtlessly looking for somewhere to have a big meal for cheap and thought oh buffet duh but then when i payed and my brain cells decided to work realised the mass amount of food waste at buffets due to em chucking it all at end of shift and it kinda spoilt me mood and the posters pinning it all on the customer to finish their plates is salt in wound , so ye my fault for being thick but please think before ye go a buffet

Went for my son's birthday..food was overcooked and poor quality. Even the simple dishes consisted of poorly prepared ingredients and most had inedible bits...paid £91 for 5 of us...drink refills are a scam and you hardly get your moneys worth.....MacDonalds is Better! These guys need to raise their standards.. Really poor service and experiemce all round. Never again.

Worst experience I ever had.. almost all dishes are empty when we are in...rice is too bad and dry in texture..some dishes are expired with foul smell...never recommend...too bad .. don't waste your money and time.

This was positively horrific. Going in the entrance my instinct was too immediately leave as soon as possible. Place was dark, and every surface was depressing and grey like some sort of prison movie. Was overcrowded with ferrel children running wild and the mindless parents that let them. Staff that looked dead behind the eyes for having to work in such an environment. The "loyalty scheme" for pier toys was also rather out of place in somewhere trying to call itself a restaurant. Food was god awful. Everything that at least looked edible tasted the same (pretty much of nothing) some things like the prawns were very obviously not prepared correctly. (Deep fried in their shells!). Piped "Happy Birthday" music adding to an already obnoxiously loud place to eat. It didn't get better moving to the desert section. Cake tasted like it had been left in the cabinet a month and the cookies were soft and clearly stale. One of the worst experiences of eating out I have ever had in this world and I've seen a decent share of it. If you're going somewhere for food in Middlesbrough go literally ANYWHERE else. No one deserves this little slice of hell on earth.

It is what it is, all you can eat buffet for one set price, something for everyone different foods Indian, Thai, Chinese, Italian English, tables are clean and cleared but none of the staff look happy to work there. You can get refillable soft drinks which are no longer branded but cheap cola etc which is a shame as the drinks used to be well known brands, cheap versions are loaded with syrup not great for kids. Some dishes nice, some poor taste and quality (carbonara, pizza, some Chinese chicken dishes) other foods really nice such as sweet chilli chicken, battered chicken balls, roasted beef, lots of puddings again some ok, some not as nice as they look, carrot cake was perfect. Set prices change depending on the time and day of the week. It's good if you want to try different types of cuisine to see what you like and don't like.

Love the food, not too expensive, for the best experience go evenings or weekends, lots more food options and desserts available. There is something there to eat for everyone.

Some of the food was nice but desserts were rotten but would probably go again just keep away from dessert..

Venue looks like it probably looked great when it opened! It's just not really maintained and you can tell the customers don't really respect it. The toilets were a mess and I saw kids running around, messing with the food more than once. The food itself was pretty good, the chicken didn't seem to be cooked in any of the dishes I tried, but the Chinese section was ok.

Food is always decent there, does get very load with all the people though. A better Que solution would be better.. like there were loads of tables free for two people yet we still had to wait a long time when we could of been in and out a lot quicker

I was awaited by a large entrance to go into the small que. I don’t get why people say this is terrible because I have been multiple times and there service is always amazing greeting us on arrival and swiftly getting us in the restaurant. The food is always heated to the perfect temperature as to not burn mouths but also taste fresh. There is a wide variety of the foods that I loved and unlimited drinks to be refilled whenever you want. I came with my family that also adore this place. The atmosphere is lovely as to not make it look like a buffet but a masterpiece of architecture. I give the food a 5.0 because of the variety, temperature and taste. This restaurant is an all around 5 star lovely.
