Vocation & Co in Calderdale

I can't think of many, if any places you can get a great selection of beers and a single slice of pizza to go with it. They serve full pizzas too . Nice vibrant place, suitable for all ages.

The former Lantern Bar was reopened in November 2022 by Vocation Brewery as Vocation & Co, adding to their small chain of pubs around Yorkshire run by the Brewery. Fairly austere from the outside you enter into a very modern, clean and for me at bit too sterile ground-floor taproom with eight Cask pumps and 18 Keg lines. Most other punters got served and then disappeared upstairs to where I believe there is a Roof Top Terrace bar seating up to 60 people, but we didn’t explore up here. Six ales for our visit with four of Vocation’s own ales and then two from collabs with other brewers. I went for their Bread and Butter Ale and very good it was too. A seasonal spritzer menu and a frozen cocktail menu was also available and this seemed to be quite effective in pulling in those not necessarily interested in the ale taps. Another good Halifax craft beer bar and another that has a decent ale line up alongside the interesting craft ale options, but I didn’t warm to this one as much and was much more comfortable in the nearby Victorian Craft Beer Cafe and København bar.

Fantastic place. Great beers, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Lovely roof terrace for the better weather, I think I'll just leave it there :-)

Popped in after a meal, ordered a Prosecco and rum and coke, Bar person went for the Prosecco and served up 2 mm of an empty bottle. I said that’s not acceptable, and after the bar person didn’t put the flat wine into the drain y, I did, she pulled a face to her colleague. Very strange and immature behaviour. Won’t be back soon, I can do without poor attitude and immature behaviour!

I probably visit once a week as I love the beer, Bread and Butter being a particular favourite but I hadn't eaten there until last week. OMG, the pizzas are fab, I love the fact you can head upstairs to the (usually quieter) bar, enjoy your drink and have a pizza delivered right to your table. The place has the lot, good friendly staff, good beer, great pizzas, love the upstairs bar and the roof terrace in summer. A real boost for the town.

Great addition to Halifax, great beer and great pizza topped off with Amazing service from all the helpful staff. Well worth a visit!

Awesome Bar with a big Selection of Craft beers made by Vocation&Co. They also sell AMAZING New York style pizza by the slice, 12" & 18" on the middle floor you will find a cocktail lounge with comfy sofas and on the very top you will find a pretty roof terrace. It's worth climbing the stairs for.
