Vinnys Fish Bar in North West Leicestershire

Needed quick food after driving up from Wales for family emergency. Got told about this place so tried it out. Was surprised when they offered me fish and chips for £5 of course I'd accept that Well I was expecting a small piece of fish for that price!! How wrong was I the fish was longer than the plate and they chucked in an extra fish to split between 2 of us so for £10 we had 3 fish and 2 portions of chips . I only gave a review of 4 because the fish was soaked in oil and was overcooked not flakey I would go again though

Decided to try this chippie under its new management. Truly horrid. Kebab meat cut way too thick, no flavour, onions flavourless, hot sauce and mint yoghurt sauce had been watered down. Asked for it in a wrap…..I received a wrap in a tray with a mountain of meat on top…..no way of making this a wrap unless you removed 3/4 of the meat. Not even sure this would have been nice after a load of beer. Mushy peas certainly watered down and no flavour. Chips had been sat a while. Fish was ok but not great. Certainly wouldn’t go back. Please note this is no longer vinnys. Now I stock fish bar.

Only went in for curry sauce and mushy peas as I was cooking my own fish at home. Friendly service and despite me only spending £3 he took time to chat to me. I even came away with a free lemon to accompany my fish. Keep up the good service and next time I will buy the full meal.

For several years now we have travelled a circa 12 mile round trip (despite having a fish & chip shop in our own village) to get our takeaway fish & chips from Vinnys. Food and service have always been very good. Returned for the first time recently (since the change of ownership), and whilst the service was friendly, the fish & chips were distinctly average. Fish seemed overcooked and was fairly tasteless, and the chips were soggy. Probably try our local fish & chip shop in next time.

Had a large fish And chips £11.50 Fish ok , but batter soggy and greasy . Chips were not good. We threw them away .. Shame it can’t be crispy . Tried it a few times but never seems to get better

Vinny's is well known in the area, good quality food served by pleasant staff. Always a delight to use Vinnys.

we rang to make an order to pick up - by the time we got there it was all ready and waiting for us - when unwrapping at home all was as we ordered- still very hot and delicious- the service was also very good we shall definitely be going there again

Ate from here and after had really bad stomach cramps and sickness so did my partner but not sickness but diarrhoea!

Simply the best fish and chips you can get. Fresh and good sized portions. Always a friendly smile to greet you.

After a long day at work decided to treat ourselves, we had fish and chips and a donner kebab the chips were dry the fish was more batter than fish the donner over priced for the portion you got, not such a treat after all,it won't be going again.

Vinnys never fail to satisfy.good portions.quality fish pies kebabs etc . Theres not many fish shops come close .nice staff

My husband regularly goes here and picks us up a kebab and chips. I must say that these are so much better than your average chippy and we have never had a bad one. The meat is always spot on and never over cooked and salad always fresh. This is not our nearest chippy but worth travelling to.

I have used Vinnys for years. Good generous portions with friendly efficient staff. Can be hit and miss with the fish ( as are most chip shops) but great value and the best chippy in the area!!

Always have a great meal from here and love that they open on Sunday! Fish is great batter is lovely will recommend to anyone and keep returning

Vinnys is the only place to go for fish n chips locally. Always nice. Almost as good as his dad's chips in ashby that once was. 😁👍

Chips & peas & curry sauce were ok, fish was inedible, all hard batter, hardly any fish, the fish that was there was drier than the Sahara, such a shame, used to be great, won't be visiting again in a hurry

I always have great expectations when I go to this Chip shop but it has never lived up to it's reputation. Chips can be dry, fish dry with horrible batter practically inedible. We are not in a hurry to go back

Best chip shop in Ibstock. Chips are very tasty. Would recommend anyone who comes to love in this area to try this chip shop first.

Have eaten fish and chips from here and they have been good. But we called today at 4.30pm as they opened expecting lovely freshly fried chips..WHAT A DISAPOINTMENT they were hard and inedible...what I thought was warmed up from last night. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL..!!

I had fish and chips here last night and they were the worst I have ever tasted, the chips were very brown and dry, the fish was tasteless and the batter chewy asthough it had been sat for over a day, very disappointed and had to throw them away .

Been here a few times and the foods always good but you can't help notice how unhappy and miserable the staff always look which must say something about the owners so only go there on the off chance from now on.

Our family have been getting our fish and chips here for years and without a doubt the best chip shop in the area, always greeted with a welcome whenever we go there, the food is amazing with good portions, would highly recommend!

Our family have used Vinnys for years. The food is always fresh and of excellent quality. The place is kept so clean and scrubbed to an inch of its life! The owner and all the staff are always polite and welcoming. The best fish bar around. Highly recommend.

I live in coalville, its a few miles to Ibstock, many people like ourselves go over to Vinny's for our chips. First it so very clean, always. The staff are always very pleasant and efficient. The fish is good value, chips are plentiful and very well cooked. Vinny says hi to almost everyone as they come in. Good and consistent, top place ( see what i have done there!) Scampy good and you get a large portion, Kebabs excelent ..Thanks

Love this place. Go there every Friday to feed the family. Please try the lemon peppered fish, absolutely gorgeous. Best fish every time. Staff are fantastic and always plenty of them so no waiting around. Can't recommend this place enough.

Lovely fish and chips, can also recommend the sausages too. Quick service and plenty of staff working so it's brilliant. Yum!

Sunday at 19.00 called in as been out all day and wanted quick eat, having used here for 7 years, well what a load of rubbish! Chips not crispy just undercooked and felt they were just sat in oil for ages, fish normally nice and white large and meaty, this was batter not crisp and fluffy just not crispy and flat and inside was like a piece of fish that was like something a fisherman would throw back and after eating half rest went in bin! Left me feeling queasy all night!!

Vinny's is always great with friendly staff and nice big top quality portions. I don't eat fish so can't vouch for that but I am told it is really good. Keep up the good work.

We only bought chips for a last minute tea but they were great and a really competitive price. Recommended!

As always the food is hot and portions are very generous ! Great choice on the menu and the service is definitely 'fast food' !

Tried other chippy's in the village but Vinny's is the best by far. Yummy food, great staff and the portions are huge. Only one little thing hope to see gluten free in the future

I've been going to Vinnys on and off for the last 6 years along with a few other chip shops in the area. Brilliant chippy the portions are a good size, everything is fresh and most often cooked to order. The staff are wonderful and always have time to talk to you. Can't ask for anything more from a chip shop.

Sometimes you just have to have proper fish and chips from a chippy. Well if your in or near Ibstock then your craving will be satiated by paying a visit to Vinny's. The place is spotless. Always has been since it opened over ten years ago. Spotless as in you could eat your chips off the floor, walls and ceiling! You will. Spot Vinny cooking the chips, fish etc. Say hello Vinny and you will get a nice welcome as he and all the staff are a friendly bunch. As for the food, well that's easy it's the best! *Not sure if they are the best fish and chips in the world, but they are the best in Ibstock and certainly better than any Harry Ramsden franchise.Just one other thing, the chip portions are big. Generally a standard portion will do for two people?

Fabulous Fish and Chip shop and in my opinion one of the best. All food cooked fresh and the fish is superb, large portions and not greasy. Be prepared for a bit of a wait if visiting on a Friday or Saturday, but it's well worth the wait.

Very good fish chips and I would give a higher rating if the fish was skinless. Is that me just being a Yorkshireman, fish is never served with skin where I was brought up.

We use Vinnys quite regularly and have tried lots of different things. Their large cod - cooked to order is beautiful, so is the chicken and mushrooms. This is a very poplar chip shop and always busy. Highly recommend

A great place to get standard fish and chips, always busy meaning fresh food.I would stray to far from the fish and chips though, perhaps a pickled egg, but the kebabs are just not right.

It has been a couple of months since we last tried vinnys because of a disappointing meal last time. We have been using another chip shop in Ibstock and have found the fish and chips to be fresh and tasty. We tried vinnys this week just to see if it had improved and the early evening fish is no better. We live in Ibstock and like to use the local shops whenever we can. Not the best in Ibstock now.

We.decided to have a fish supper my grandson wanted chicken nuggets the batter on the fish was soggy and not crisp the chips were dry and inedible and my grandson threw the chicken nuggets away it will be a long before we go again

Best chips in Ibstock. Usually a queue but goes down quickly and food is lovely - always hot and cooked to perfection!

Used to be good but now poor quality fish that has got a taste of metal which I am told is fish that has gone past its use by date

Never had anything from Vinnys that wasn't as good as it can be - The chips are the best you'll get anywhere - The Kebabs are to die for - The pies are just perfect and you get massive portions too. On top of all that Vinny is a great laugh

Good for chips!Kebabs, NO!!Last week Ordered chicken kebab, got donor kebab.. This week ordered chicken kebab again, got no salad or sauce.. Took it back and was told, I have to ask for salad and sauce.. 1st time I've been told this at this shop..Double check your order before you leave..

have used a few times now, cannot complain, it is at least consistent. portion sizes are good and the menu is quite comprehensive. Does get busy but plenty of staff to cope. I only have haddock & chips so cannot say what other items are like. Chips are pretty good, but as we are about as far from the sea as you can get, fish will never be the same as on the coast, but not bad.

Our son was visiting and we shared a mixed kebab and chips with 5 sauces it was super value. Two weeks before I had a portion of Southern Fried chicken as a snack it was well cooked and super flavour.

When we ask the kids to choose tea it's usually M.V. (Mr Vinneys) they ask for. Even though we have moved recently we still drive here, past 3-4 other places if we are having chippy tea.

The staff are friendly and helpful, the chippy is clean and the food is always fresh and hot. The kebebs are huge as are the portions of chips. Great value for money and well worth stopping to get your dinner. Parking can be a little unpredictable but other than that it is the best chippie around for quality, price and portion size.
