Vinny And Vito Restaurant At De Vere Village Hotel Swansea in Swansea

We had many issues with our overnight stay at this hotel and have tried in vain to speak to someone who is even the slightest bit interested in our complaints. Promised call backs that never happen and generally a total disregard for what was a very disappointing visit. Serious damp around the windows. Not enough cups, tea bags or towels in room for 3. Bedside light not working. Surprisingly no telephone in the room to contact reception so each issue meant we had to physically go down. Breakfast buffet was low in food so it meant half could eat and the rest had to wait. Some of the staff definitely had ‘attitude’ and simply could not be bothered. No apologies just a case of like it or lump it.

WE HAVE EATEN THE CARVERY ON SUNDAYS MANY TIMES, AND HAVE ENJOYED OUR MEAL VERY MUCH, GOOD AMBIENCE AND FAIRLY GOOD FOOD. A GOOD CHOICE OF STARTERS AND DESERTS. THIS WEEK WAS TRULY DREADFUL. POOR FOOD AND DREADFUL NOISE. WHO HAD THE IDEA OF SERVING ONLY IN THE PUB WITH ALL THE SCREENS AND NOISE? WE WILL NOT BE EATING THERE AGAIN, UNTIL YOU LET US KNOW THAT YOU HAVE RETUNED TO THE PREVIOUS VENUE. JOHN AND NORMA SIMMONDS

Food was ok. menu choices was poor. restaurant was loud. football was on - not everyone enjoys football. so maybe more of a designated area for sport would be better? food was overpriced for the quality. service was ok.

Visited Sunday evening having booked into the hotel. Restaurant closed and told to use the Grill. At 7.30 pm there were 3 large screens showing football silently but with loud music playing. No chance of a quite meal talking to friends. Purchased drinks whilst talking to manager. Bar member was clearly completely untrained to use the till system. Manager did resolve noise problem by setting a table in the lobby area. Manager was very attentive and we were satisfied with the service provided. Walking into the lobby to check in at 4.30pm was the worst check-in experience I've ever had. Noise from televisions was so great I considered leaving immediately. A staff member came over and helped with check-in by shouting over the noise. Suggest you shut off the noisy bar from the lobby or loose customers.

Stayed on half board basis with friends. Breakfast was excellent with great service. Food was good quality served hot and plentiful. Evening menu was limited we tried all meals and would recommend you stick to this menu as the bar food we tried was disappointing,the curry had four small pieces of meat and was watery. The fish and chips was excellent and could not have been improved upon. The bar area is very busy with football on all 6 tvs the staff kindly offered to serve us in the reception area which was fine.

The restaurant was fairly busy with some groups. The staff worked hard and dealt well with some difficult customers who were complaining over something and nothing in a very rude tone and manner. This was unnecessary but the staff were apologetic and tried to resolve this in a calm and professional manner nonetheless. This did not impact our evening and the prepaid meal was outstanding. Overall a lovely evening with delicious food and attentive staff.

Went for the Sunday car-very and although the starter and pudding selection were good when I went for the Carvery my partner chose the beef which looked very pink. I do not like beef pink so choose the turkey the chef then started to cut my turkey with the knife he had just cut the beef and the blood was running down the turkey. I mentioned I did not want that he said why and I explained what he had just done he then huffed and walked into the kitchen and left me waiting 5 minutes while he washed two clean knives disgusting is all I can say

We booked under a deal which included two course and a glass of prosecco each. This was really good value and generally the food was good. However, the service was very poor. Initially they refused to give us the prosecco even though I had my booking confirmation on my phone which showed it included prosecco. They were very rude and unhelpful and I ended up having to leave my table to go to the reception for help. The reception staff were great and sorted the problem straight away. Even on my return when we were served the prosecco the staff were still very rude and did not apologise for the mistake.

Starters not good soup in a mug and only enough for 1 of us my father is 84 and would like a dish no bread rolls was told they would be 20 minutes lovely dinner but going back for second helpings was a Nono no mash or meat desert was the worst iv had there lumpy custard and the apple crumble was as not to good at all

Very disappointing to find that i was not able to use my membership discount card.

The food, once again, didn't disappoint, alltho portions with soup/dessert -have got smaller. But the service was absolutely lacking. There was a very very miserable looking young lady who came to our table once, for drinks order. After that we didn't saw anyone. The dirty plates stayed on the table , untill I called someone over who then took the plate i pointed out not the rest of dirty plates which the table was covered. Waited AGES to find someone to ask for soup/dessert there was a birthday party next to us and when they left the girls cleaned up the area, instead of making sure we was ok..As we was still there but the birthday party had left. I booked it for mothers day but after having that non existing service level, we are going somewhere else. Sad really. We use to love that place.

Excellent food and terrific service. Staff were really helpful and courteous. Food portions were really good and the quality of the food and attention to detail were the best we've experienced in any Village hotel.

Food was excellent, best steak ever tasted. Place was lovely and so were the staff but were a bit slow when delivering drinks etc. Would defiantly go there again.

stayed at the village hotel swansea for a treat for my husband. Booked in for the satisfaction saturday deal so booked a table in the village grill. The deal is good value for money. The food was very tasty and i would book again in the future. Had the duck tacos to start followed by the chicken skewers.

we were very very cold next to the windows, the Béarnaise sauce was very runny...

We asked for a corner table but they placed us in area that had loud people next to us!

Really enjoyed my visit. The service you couldn't fault and the food was excellent. Tasty and presented beautifully. I was surprised how good the food was, especially as we had such a great deal for the hotel with dinner. Excellent value.

We had a set menu which was very basic. Could not pay extra to eat off main menu. Don't think I would bother again.

Had booked dinner b&b here, must say it's the best meal I've had in a dinner b&b package. The food was tip top. Service was great too. I'll definitely be back for more.

We booked the Sunday lunch buffet to celebrate my in laws 40th wedding anniversary . The starters were very limited for children , the carvery was beautiful and desserts were lovely too the kids and adults enjoyed the ice cream machine equally

A good place for a family get-together. Good starters and deserts. Main course good meat, shame about the vegetables. Dried up, overcooked sprouts, and potatoes should be crispy!

It was very bright and very noisy, felt more like eating in a canteen than a restaurant, we were disappointed as we were really looking forward to our date night following a really stressful week.

2 medium rare steaks overcooked on outside raw inside made for 2 very chewy tough steaks and at £26 each ruined the meal. Our waitress asked our opinion of the steaks after we'd eaten and said she didn't think they were cooked properly, very observant and she wasn't afraid to comment. I liked that. We said they were edible and left it at that. 1 of our 4 deserts arrived 20 mins later than the other 3. The rest of the food, drinks and service was lovely.

Nice place for Sunday lunch and decent value but the beef on the carvery ruined it. So much garlic infused into the beef you'd think the chef was seeing off a herd of vampires.

Enjoyed a lovely weekend at the Village Hotel - all good - comfort/service and good value. The one point I would make is the décor - it was drab - colour-less - grey everywhere. The pub area had black walls - black seats and grey mostly everywhere - certainly not somewhere I would not want to spend any time - quite dismal. The corridors on the landings were again a dark greenish colour and again very dismal and dark and made it feel like the walls were closing in, especially as the corridors were without windows and there was little natural light. While I appreciate grey is a very modern and contemporary colour I think there are a lot of areas which could do with an alternative colour choice and just use the grey as an accent colour.

It is a very good value for money on Sunday particularly but for the roast it would be nice to have a bigger choice of greens as it is mainly potato.

Happy Hour bottle of wine for £10 - very reasonably priced meal - fair choice on the set menu - very good service from pleasant staff and no long waits. Enjoyed the evening out with my sister.

All just a bit bland and over priced. I’m a member of Village CARDIFF so expected similar environment- sadly disappointed. Doesn’t appear that this hotel has received any investment recently? We were really bothered by flys during our meal to the extent that we moved tables. Flys were still present at breakfast time. Slightly worrying from a hygiene perspective. Breakfast was very basic and fell well below range I’ve experienced at other village hotels.

Great food and staff but the room had lots of little flys in ,,,not good when your eating food

When we arrived at the Village, Swansea there was a slight mix up with our room and so the service we received at the restaurant really made our stay! The two ladies that served our table with food and drink were outstanding! We had our 5 year old with us and they brought him colouring pencils and activity sheets, they also made sure that his food arrived with our starters which we really appreciated. To add to this, our food was fabulous and the lady at the till also noticed that we had overpaid online for the meal deal and refunded us immediately (we would have missed this completely and like only noticed when we returned home!). This level of customer service is rarely seen these days and both ladies should be highly commended.

Arrived early for a pre drink 🍸 and was served promptly. They didn&#039;t have my first request which was pimms........ but my second which was a glass of white wine was chilled &amp; wonderful! We made our way to the restaurant &amp; we were given a choice of table - we choose a booth near the window and we ordered promptly as we had already studied the menu online. The food arrived hot and without delay. Nobody rushed us and we were left to chat and enjoy! A very pleasant evening was had by all of us &amp; we all agreed we would return!

HI THIS WAS MY THIRD STAY IN THE LAST 4 WEEKS AND MY WIFE AND I WILL BE WITH YOU ON THE 25TH JULY MAKING IT 4 SUNDAY VISITS IN 2 MONTHS<br />WE ENJOY EVERYTHING ABOUT THE HOTEL THE ROOMS THE BAR THE COFFEE SHOP AND THE RESTAURANT THE ONLY SUGGESTION I HAVE IS TO VARY THE FIXED MENU A LITTLE AS I HAVE NOW MORE OR LESS TRIED ALL THE DISHES BUT THAT IS MY OWN FAULT FOR VISITING YOU SO FREQUENTLY OF LATE. I DO APPRECIATE THAT THE SUNDAY NIGHT DEAL IS VERY GOOD VALUE AND THAT YOU HAVE TO WORK THE MEALS WITHIN YOUR BUDGET BUT MAYBE THERE ARE SOME OTHER CHOICES THAT COULD MEET YOUR BUDGET HOWEVER WE HAVE NO COMPLAINTS AND LOOK FORWARD TO OUR NEXT VISIT ON THE 15TH JULY

Amazing service from the moment we walked in the door. Extremely helpful and friendly staff and the food was absolutely fantastic as well as the cocktails and stout. Poor choice of food in the restaurant more like pub food. Saying that I’ve had far more choice of bar meals.

Quite expensive. £49:00 for a very ordinary plate of food for two is not worth a recommendation in my opinion. Much better value in Swansea at various pub restaurants. £4:95 for a small bottle of Becks was daylight robbery.

Had a great meal at the Verve Grill restaurant. Something to suit all tastes. My piri, piri chicken skewer and black rice was amazing!

We had dinner here as part of a overnight stay for my husband&#039;s birthday as we have done before. The menu was limited which I understand but before we have been offered to eat off the larger evening menu with surcharges to pay, giving more options. We were left with the menus to browse with no offer of drinks - the meal was delivered quickly and was nice and fresh. However on leaving the restaurant and returning to our room we were disturbed twice by restaurant staff stating that the bill was wrong and then again that a further mistake had been made but had now been corrected. Surely this could have been delay with by reception in the morning ?

I’ve been to this hotel a few times for functions but never eaten in the restaurant before now. There was plenty of choice on the menu and a lovely gentleman serving who I think was called Dylan. Food came out quickly, the portions were enormous, we had to leave some starters to allow for the main meal!<br />Both quality and quantity of food surpassed our expectations and we’ll definitely be going back.<br />Nice restaurant, only snag was I was seated under a light and I could feel heat coming from it after we’d been sat there a while.

The two course meal was part of our package during our two night stay at the hotel. The quality and quantity of food was very good. As usual with these types of restaurants the bottle of wine was quite expensive at £18.50. <br /><br />We would have eaten here the second night but the normal menu averaged £18 for a main course so we decided to eat elsewhere.

We took advantage of the &#039;Welcome to Friday&#039; deal, which includes a 2 course dinner from the set menu. Four of us dined, as follows: 2 soups, 1 flat bread, 1 pork tacos to start, followed by 1 curry, 1 burger and 2 salmons. We honest couldn&#039;t fault any of it - everything was absolutely delicious, and the portions were excellent (not always the case with a &#039;cheapy&#039;). The staff were all lovely; very friendly and attentive, and we couldn&#039;t have felt more welcome. <br /><br />The only problem with the whole evening was that given the quality of the food, the restaurant deserved to be busy, and it wasn&#039;t. The low number of diners definitely doesn&#039;t reflect how good the food is, and we&#039;d recommend it to anyone. In fact, we&#039;ve already started - we&#039;re coming again with different friends for one of the Sunday night special deals in June.

We went for the Sunday night stay with dinner included for £50 which was very good vale. Whilst the menu is more limited for this deal there was still 4 options to choose from for starters, main and deserts so something for everyone. The food was good and the staff friendly and helpful

Lovely meal. Staff attentive and friendly. The waitresses were knowledgeable and efficient and made us smile.

Terrible service. Waited 1hour and 30 minutes before giving up and leaving. All we are in that time were the starters which took 30 minutes to arrive. Had to go to the bar ourselves to get drinks as the waitress didn’t turn up to take a drinks order. Certainly won’t be returning. <br /><br />Complained on checkout the following morning to be told the restaurant manager would call me to discuss a partial refund. Ive not heard back from anyone despite 3 calls I’ve made trying to discuss the situation only to be told someone would call me back. Terrible service continues........

Had a great time food was stunning and the staff were great, the only down side to it was it got very hot during the night and there was no fan, opened the window and our room was on the side of the duel carriageways so the traffic was very loud, so didn’t have the best nights sleep.

Booked it to take Mrs away for her birthday and it didn&#039;t disappoint. Food was outstanding as were the staff. Looking at booking again.

Disappointing choice of food on the 2 course for £20 menu. The burger was fine but the chicken salad came with no extras-no carbs at all and certainly not filling. The desserts were dreadful - the cheesecake tasted soapy and the highly promising pineapple crumble was tinned pineapple with a bit of crumble. I could not taste the malibu or coconut. Very bland and uninspiring.

We stayed sunday night for the dine and dream package. We had the most wounderful meal. And the cocktails are to die for had a few too many! Will deffo be seeing us again!

Not the biggest of menus to select from but more than enough choice for my wife and I. All the staff were genuinely very friendly which was great. We will definitely eat here again.

Go quite regularly here with family and friends. Have never had a bad visit. Lovely atmosphere. The menu caters for most and the staff are excellent.

We stayed at the hotel for our tenth anniversary. The staff at the hotel made our stay very enjoyable with treats such as balloons on our table and a free dessert with an anniversary message.<br />I have only marked down the ambience as there was a party of men who were clearly staying for a wedding and one of them was a little drunk. He was quickly dealt with by staff though.<br />The food was delicious and the service very good with very helpful staff.<br />I would recommend and definitely will be staying again

The staff were fabulous. Very friendly, warm and welcoming. Food was disappointing and overpriced for what we had. I had chicken which was well cooked but the herb was too overpowering and the stuffing was watery and not tasty. The other meal, a beef burger was fine, but overpriced at £15 for just a burger. Wish we had eaten in the pub area where the food looked nicer.

We ate from the set 2 course menu and I have say the food was excellent value. I had the chicken rigatoni main, the sauce was rich and flavoursome. My hubby had the burger and this was stunning. We will be back

Myself and my wife went for a birthday treat for myself. <br />We paid extra to stay in the upperdeck, however, our coffee machine didn&#039;t work and there was a big crack in the sink in the bathroom.<br />we also paid beforehand for a two course meal in the resturant. However, there was only 2 steaks left and no black bean rice to go with the salmon, even though the resturant was empty and had only been open an hour. We decided to order from the other menu however was told we would need to pay a further cost, which we thought was quite unfair. The staff was brilliant but the meal was pretty poor for what we had to pay.<br />We feel our experience wasn&#039;t value for money and due to our overall experience won&#039;t be returning again unfortunately.

Very disappointed, waited to be seated even though we had booked table, waited for order to be taken. After 20 minutes had to ask for 2 starters, 3 dining, plates removed waitress asked can I get you and sweets??then waited a further 25 mins for mains had to ask. Ordered beef stroganoff as one of the mains, had 5 small slices of beef, for £16 not happy. Restaurant was not full. Service poor, food over priced. One of our party said he would eat cardboard they waited so long and the burger wasn&#039;t far off that. Did complain and apologise given and meal was not charged. Not happy and reluctant to try again

it was supposed to be soecial occasion . for a start no pina colado cocktails left? this is a village pub. then king prawn curry only had six little prawns in it all rest was rice! very disappointef never worth £18 for 6 prawns. we did complain at time bit have heard nothing from the village pub as an apology .

Lovely prepared food, excellent customer service. Very friendly restaurant staff, nothing too much trouble during evening meal and breakfast service. Well done Swansea Team, good welsh hospitality.

Firstly, booked as part of dream and dine special (Sunday night) , so was extremely good value as a room and dinner were only £50 for 2, and convenient for visiting the city.<br />However, if I was paying for dinner I would not have been very happy. Food was vastly overpriced for what you got. Two dry grilled chicken breasts, dried up hard mashed potato and a few roast tomatoes - £18.95... really? A salmon fillet on a bed of cous cous with a few roast tomatoes - £18.95... really?? Obviously going for business accounts where food is on expenses and no-one bothers about the quality. Restaurant was virtually empty which also speaks volumes - no atmosphere. Hardly surprising that they are offering a free dinner if you stay overnight. <br />That aside, very friendly service!!

We were on a Sunday night package and my wife&#039;s meal was excellent but my sirloin steak was the toughest I have ever had. However all was redeem with the exceptionally good breakfast.

Had an enjoyable stay at this hotel, room comfortable and clean, dinner and breakfast very good, staff efficient and friendly. Something for everyone, thank you Mrs y simmonds

Food okay, but over a 45 minute wait for starters. Main meal was then served with no gap for starter to go down, then half the desserts on offer sold out.

Special offers give you great value for money. The staff that served us were very attentive.

We had a great time at the Village on New Years Eve, so we booked Sunday lunch there. We weren&#039;t disappointed. Good choice of starters, followed by a carvery and then a lovely choice of dessert. The staff there were really friendly and helpful. I&#039;ve booked again already!

Overall the experience was very good. Service was very friendly and efficient. Overall the food was good but I had the prawn cocktail starter and that was very dissapointing. The prawns were tiny and the cheapest quality with no taste and very rubbery. As the value of the deal I was on was exceptional please treat this as a comment and not a complaint.

We stayed the evening with the stay and 2-course meal package, and have to say outstanding value, very friendly staff and a lovely 2-course meal. Will definitely recommend and will definitely be going back!
