¡Evite a toda costa!

The best takeaway I’ve had in years… every dish tasted so fresh and the portion sizes are huge! Such a good option, especially if you fancy something a bit healthier!

So pleased I came across this place. The restaurant is done out nicely and I have been wanting to try some authentic Vietnamese food since I visited Vietnam and this did not disappoint. Although the menu is only small there is still a good choice, I had the beef pho and my friend the curry, we both had the spring rolls as well which were the best I’ve had! The food took me right back, it was authentic and tasted amazing! Not only did it taste great but the portion size was extremely generous especially for the reasonable price. Looking forward to visiting again and would certainly recommend.

A very pleasant visit, I had seen the development of this restaurant as I have driven past. The decor is good inside and out. The main thing of course is the food, this was excellent and at around 13 a main course reasonable in price. There isn’t any alcohol on sale which is a little unusual. I will be visiting again.

Friendly casual Vietnamese restaurant serving great food. Enjoyed the summer rolls and the curry and the hot lemon, will be back! Just bear in mind that it can be a little chilly on a colder evening.

It has a limited menu, but interesting. I had the Phó Xào Bò beef rice stick noodle. Very tasty. My daughter had vermicelli noodles with Tofu. Which she really enjoyed. All in all very nice.

We are here with friends and throughly enjoyed the food. Service was lovely too. I had the king prawn noodle soup. I found it a little sandy after a while. But I shared starters with the rest of the table and mains with my family so we all had a good few tastes. The pot of chili oil with the handwritten label was nuclear. In a good way, be sparing!

Always one for supporting local businesses - particularly new ones. Vina Pho looked interesting and how great to have Vietnamese on your doorstep. Menu is limited but the food looks really good. Party of three. Two ordered a curries which were lush and tasted fantastic. As for my own, I was going for Grilled Pork but fancied something spicy hot so asked for recommendations. Hu Style Beef Noodle Soup. I've never had this before. Very large bowl and nice thing stock broth with a mass of noodles, some beef slices which was very mild tasting and most likely from Brisket. A piece of white looking slice - which is called Chicken Cake. Truly awful, like Spam and couldn't eat it. The flavour of the soup was nice but mild and a whole large bowl of it. I looked at other meals coming out. I'd rather have had anything but what I'd ordered. The taste became monotonous - like a big bowl of stock soup with some shredded cabbage, a few sliced spring onions but mostly it was a hot bowl of noodles with a few slices of beef. I could only eat half. The food coming out looked great and no complaints from my party. But I'd say if you're looking for an adventurous taste don't chose this dish. The major disappointment of the evening was when we were leaving - there was no interest at all in whether you'd liked the food or not. So I said I didn't really enjoy the dish and that it wasn't very spicy. I didn't realise that if you want it hot spicey you have to put in the chili sauce which is on every table. Fair enough. But at least staff could take a bit of interest in how customers had enjoyed or not their meal. No interest whatsoever. It's not how word carries in Durham and I won't be carry the word of this restaurant. I'm sure the other food is great, mine wasn't but that isn't the major bug bare - it was the lack of interest in customer experience. There's no interest in whether you enjoy our meal or not and when its mentioned you didn't like it or eat it there's no response at all. Durham is a small place - word of mouth is crucial. Maybe they're happy enough with catering for the student population around Gilesgate. but they're only here for 30 weeks a year so it is a little short sighted. Eating isn't just about eating is it? It's about the experience. Such a quaint place for Durham, great little mural on the wall and had great expectations, but really... customer service and responsiveness I'd have to give it a 0.

I've been hoping for a Vietnamese restaurant in Durham for years and finally we have one and it's right on my doorstep! The menu is simple, but already Vina Pho responded to requests for vegetarian and vegan options which is great. I had the tofu pho with vegan broth and my friend had the beef option. We shared tofu spring rolls and the waitress double checked the vegan requirements, which I appreciated. The food is not only delicious but so fresh. And the staff at the restaurant are very polite. It was £20 plus a few pence each for main course, spring rolls to share and two lemon ice tea each. Based on the quality of the food and the huge portions, i think it's good value. I already can't wait to go back. Vina Pho is definitely a welcome addition to Durham where there are loads of restaurants, but not much variety. I hope the community supports this super new business!

What a great Sunday Lunch we had in the Miners. Ample amounts of every constituent contained in the meal. The chicken was succulent with an amazing stuffing mix which is a meal in itself. Delicious. The veggies were very well cooked. They were fresh and with the few roasted potatoes and a lovely mashed potato included also, it made for a exemplary lunch. A nice team of waiting on staff were evident, working well around the many diners. The place itself is cosy, tradional , warming and comfortable. We had a very nice , relaxing time in there. It is worth visiting as I am sure you will like it if you give it a try.
