Village Urban Resort in Glasgow City

Wouldn't recommend anyone eat here. The food really lets the hotel down. The menu is so limited with a poor choice of tasteless fast food. Surely they can do better than this!

I booked my daughters in for dinner before a concert at the SSE Hydro. The restaurant had no note of their reservation but thankfully my oldest daughter had the email confirmation on her phone. My younger daughter had a kids meal. The sausages were ok but there were hardly any beans and the mash was cold, hard and inedible. Her fruit salad was a few bits of melon and watermelon in a tiny jar. No one came over for them to get the bill and it took nearly 30 mins to get it when they eventually were able to ask. Then, the card machine wasn’t working so they had to get another one. This meant they missed the support acts at the concert. Our older daughter had one course and the younger one 2 courses and it took 1.5 hours! Not great and we won’t return.

Casi todo está en pan, en pan o pan rallado. Basura producida en masa que va directamente a la freidora de grasa profunda, carbohidratos pesados, muy poca opción para un vegetariano, un celíaco o un carbero bajo. Parecen tener una aversión a los platos y se utilizan bandejas forradas de papel.La ensalada parecía rancia. Un montón de relleno barato.Pobre: evitaré activamente este lugar en el futuro.Felicitaciones al personal, que eran encantadores. No me puedo quejar del servicio y dudo seriamente que sean responsables del terrible menú.

Visité como parte de una fiesta más grande: la comida era normal, pero parecía que el personal no estaba preparado para nuestro grupo a pesar del hecho de que reservamos con anticipación y pedimos por adelantado. Un miembro del personal en particular, que supongo que era gerente, tenía una actitud bastante hostil e hizo que nuestra visita fuera desagradable e incómoda. Se paseó alrededor de nuestra mesa a cierta distancia, sin ofrecer ayuda ni bebidas adicionales, etc., pero claramente estaba "examinando" a nuestro grupo para verificar cuándo habíamos terminado, lo que hizo que la visita se sintiera muy apresurada. El gerente no se acerca a nosotros, pero deja al mesero para decirnos que miremos la letra pequeña que dice que el asador termina a las 4. . . Habiendo comido en el pub del pueblo antes y lo disfrutamos, pensamos en probar la parrilla un poco más formal antes de dirigirnos a un concierto en el hidro. Había visto el menú fijo en el sitio web 2 cursos para 18 y pensé que era una buena oferta. Nos sentamos rápidamente y dado el menú a la carta, tuve que pedir el menú fijo! Nuestro camarero fue muy agradable y nos trajo una jarra de agua sin ser pedido. La comida salió a tiempo, el pan de tomate y queso era encantador y, mientras que los tacos de cerdo parecían ser parte de la cesta de vapor, ¡estaban fríos y carentes de cerdo! 3 también hubiera sido mejor dado que eran mini tacos. Los platos principales eran bastante decentes, bonita piel crujiente en el salmón y una gran hamburguesa sabrosa con patatas fritas caseras rústicas. Creo que 9 para un vino grande es caro, sin embargo las necesidades deben serlo! En general, la comida, la bebida y el servicio eran buenos. Sin embargo, cuando llegó la cuenta, fui a las damas, dejando que mi esposo pagara. Normalmente, siempre verifico la factura, pero mi esposo es más confiado que yo, ¡él tampoco sabía cuánto era el menú fijo ya que no había precios en él! Por lo tanto, pagó 59 por 2 18 menús, 1 9 copa de vino y 1 5. 50 guiness (las matemáticas nunca fueron mi tema más fuerte, pero creo que solo se trata de 50. 50? We arrived at the Verve Grill for dinner on a busy Saturday night. We chose the 'fine dining' experience over the pub food next door as a treat. We initially noticed the food pricing to be high but were okay with this as we thought the food would match its pricing. £18 for one skewer of beef and one skewer of veggies with some over sized wedges of potato was definitely not what we had envisioned. The taste was average and definitely did not match its price or fine dining experience. However staff were friendly and efficient, but next time we stay at the village hotel we will definitely opt for the 'pub grub'.

Ate here recently before attending show at the Hydro. Plenty of choices on menu and meals were served quickly and efficiently by pleasant staff. Would recommend booking a table as tends to be busy early evenings.

Happy to find anyone who could find us a table on a busy Friday night here. Drinks - good selection of the usual suspects, food is standard pub type with a few embellishments like Poke bowls. Some Gluten free options but at least the staff were able to provide a knowledgable person to advise on dietary specifics to guide us. ewell cooked and very speedy service meant our hungry party was fed and done in no time!

Prices high, but enjoy the halumi cheese skewer although the vegetables were barely heated let alone cooked. Chilli sauce hot and tasted good, but long wait for food.

I have visited the bar restaurant a couple of times before gigs and going to the imax. The first occasion the wait for food was nearly two hours when we ordered of a pre theatre menu which was very simple meals like burgers and wraps we were really close to walking away without eating. The restaurant didn’t even seem to busy. The latest visit we ordered the chicken tenders which I had no option but to return as they were burnt to a crisp. The replacement tenders were still burnt and barely edible. As I already sent them back I didn’t want to make any more fuss. They had no flavour at all and the chicken wrap had burnt tenders inside it as well. The food here is not cheap and for the quality and menu variety it is poor. A soda water and cordial is very overpriced and drinks in general are pricey. I have ate in the Edinburgh restaurant as well and that to was very poor. The hotel itself is lovely so to are the staff it just lets itself down in the restaurant.

I bought an Itison voucher deal for a Sunday Carvery and use of the leisure facilities. The voucher had 2 Sunday's left ahead of it's expiry, although the voucher had a 'book by' date a week earlier. I had tried to contact the hotel by phone ahead of the book by date, but was never successful in getting a response. I had only bought the voucher a couple of weeks ago, so I'm doubting whether I'd have actually been able to use it at any point. I have bought and used Itison Vouchers many times in the past and without fail the vendor has honoured the booking even if it's been used past the 'use by' date. The staff member I spoke to said that they had only been able to honour 430 of the 500 bookings, and that I was 'just 1 of 70 customers' who would be disappointed. He then went onto say that the reason they couldn't honour these bookings later in January for example when it would be quieter, is because they were going to be launching new voucher deals as of Black Friday next week!

My wife and I took my mother and father there today for lunch. I had been here before and had no complaints. This time was different however. My mother had fish which was disgusting and minuscule. I had nachos with cheese. This was only heated on the outside. Once I had devoured the top layer of nachos, the inside was cold with unmelted grated cheese. There was no offer of compensation. Just "Sorry about that" Had they dealt with my complaint in an appropriate manner, I wouldn't have been writing this review. I will never be back.

Had dinner here before a concert in Hydro. Good location and easy walk to the venue. Was very busy but were served quickly and food was good. High on the meat and low on veggie choice - but guess is a limited menu as it is a grill. Would go again - but would be good to have at least another veggie choice

My partner and I visited the restaurant for a valentines meal which had been promoted in the hotel. We were not given the advertised menu when seated, despite this information being attached to our booking. The restaurant was quite quiet, being early evening. Despite this, service was very slow and staff inattentive. We were brought starters which didn't really match the menu descriptions. We queried this with the manager and we were offered an alternative for one of them, which was sub standard. When the main courses arrived, we were initially given the wrong food, so had to wait while this was rectified. When the mains arrived, they were fine, but not worth the price. We had intended to stay for dessert and coffees, but were feeling fairly ignored by waiting staff, so we approached the desk and settled our bill. Won't be rushing back. Have read or they reviews of customers getting similar poor service and mediocre food.

Was there on Sunday for the third time for the Carvery. The food and service is great. a nice relaxed place to eat. A great range of starters, mains and sweets. Will go back again

Went here for a birthday meal with friends. The food was pretty good although my wife had a pea and ham soup which she thought was awful. The service was friendly enough but very slow. Long time between courses, forgot to bring a side order (which they said they would remove from bill but then didn't and tried to charge us for it). No one came back and asked if we wanted drinks and no one offered tea or coffee at the end. Shame that the service was poor as the food is decent and nice modern looking restaurant

Visited here for one night with my young son as it was handy for The Hydro where we were going to see Marvel Live. Food was slow... waited forty minutes despite restaurant not even being half full. Kids meal was fine my fillet steak stroganoff lacked flavour & seasoning. Staff were friendly enough. Average... there are much better places to go in Glasgow on a Saturday night out.... probably wouldn't return .

Popped in here with kids after visiting SECC. Lovely modern decor. Although there are high chairs and kids menu it really doesn't feel too kid friendly. This is no doubt due to the fact that it's a hotel with spa too? Burgers around £12-14 and very overpriced for what you get. Also ordering at the bar. Slow service although friendly. Won't be back. Quite shocked at the bill. Much better close by.

I have been eating there twice and both times have been really disappointing.

This is was our fourth visit, second for the Sunday carvery, and it didn't disappoint. Booked on a 5pm deal. Service was good, especially the chef who was carving the meat, chatting to customers whilst serving. The quality of the carvery was fantastic again, everything was piping hot and the meat was cooked to perfection. Not to be mistaken for your pub chain carvery, this is far superior, and is unlimited, even the meat. The staff made a fuss of the kids too, and the waffle station went down a treat with them too. Can't wait to return.

Had bought a deal voucher and was very pleased with the value for money. My husband had chicken Kiev and I had the burger and chips, both meals were cooked Tom scratch which might not matter to some people but it's good to know that the burger wasn't out of a freezer and the chicken breast was large and still on the bone. Service excellent and the bar area was busy without being jam packed. Will definitely return maybe for Sunday roast!

Situated nicely for business and there is free car parking which can be a challenge near the city centre. The food is nice but not fantastic. It is typical of what you get in the many carveries popping up everywhere, but more pricy.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The manager Ryan was very accommodating got our large (12) party. Charlie our server took very good care of us.

Unless staying at one of the local hotels or at the bbc or stv it is not handy for much which is a pity as the food is tasty and of good quality. The service can be over attentive with. The waiter possibly new and trying too hard. The red pepper hummus with flat bread was some of the best I'd tasted. The beef stroganoff was creamy had bite and was delicious . My pal with the lemon thyme chicken thoroughly enjoyed it . The wine was chilled and reasonably priced. The coffee was disappointing .

Been here many times for Sunday lunch and can not praise it enough. I have always enjoyed the food but think it has even further improved on the last visit. Great choice and unlike other places it really is all you can eat.

Had dinner with a business colleague at the Verve Grill this evening. The restaurant was fairly full, but there were tables available.

Visited twice, once with my husband on a 5pm deal, 2 mains and a bottle of wine for £28. Thought this was great value as we both had fillet steak stroganoff at £17 each, which was really tasty. Husband had the muscles to start, which were plentiful and he said were delicious. We returned with our 2 children for the sunday lunch, which we also really enjoyed and great value as even the meat is unlimited. Starters were layed out in individual dishes so easy to grab, but found the croutons soggy as they had obviously been lying in the sauce. Staff were friendly and the server ensured you were happy with the serving of meats that you got. Returning for another stay in june and will definately return.

We were staying in the Village Hotel and had been out sightseeing all day, so we thought that this would be easy. What we didn't account for was an Adele concert 3 blocks away. We had to wait a while for a table. Our food was really good, except for the Tiger Prawns. The sauce and broccoli were good, however the prawns were very tough, like they had been overcooked. Dessert was really good, but we had to wait a long time for the bill, finally waving down our waitress who had been basically ignoring us. Not a good combination: eating late, waiting on the bill, with very early flights in the morning.

We have visited both the bar and grill for meals since the hotel opened as we are members of the gym. We have never had a bad experience with food, service or timing. The Verve Grill main menu has things to suit everyone in my opinion, the 500 calorie dishes are just as equally filling and tasty an option in comparison to the normal menu. The mussels and chips are delicious and are better than many I have tried at seafood restaurants.

Visited the carvery today and was so disappointed I won't be back. We went shortly after the hotel opening and it was fabulous, just goes to show how quickly staff training goes out the window. Went to get a starter and there were no antipasti meats, the tray was empty, queued for meats which were very sparse in comparison to the last time and when we went to get our accompaniments, there were no roast potatoes or carrots as advertised. My husband lost patience waiting on them coming out so just had meat and gravy. I went up to get my sweet and the guy serving the meat was also responsible for cooking the waffles, really!! Surely not hygienic. The waffles were dry because I asked for ice-cream and they gave me the smallest scoop, I just looked at the guy when he gave me it, he said oh there's syrup out the back we'll bring it out, another wait, and it wasn't syrup it was ice cream strawberry topping. My husband was at the other side trying to help himself to cheesecake but nothing to lift it with, another wait for a cake slice. Suffice to say we won't be back and the Village better get their act together!!!

Fantastic meal, staff excellent, very friendly and attentive.

It was sitting a cold drafty chair of racing green , and the metal rivet ceiling made intentionally to look unfinished like inside the Hydro wasn't to my liking, it felt a bit like being in Govan shipyards. I know the Finnieston crane etc is nearby outside but I felt like I was sitting inside it! The food was well priced , well presented, served roasty toasty hot, had very attentive staff who quickly cleared plates and worked the room chatting politely and asking how the food tasted. Bland it is not but it was a strange atmosphere and like I say, quite drafty and could've been doing with losing the wooden slatted blinds and warming the place with a few open fires or velvet cushions or curtains, a bit of softness to the harsh metals, it feels like it is catering for big hairy metalworkers haha. No warmth and strange to see all the air con pipework I didn't like that poncy stylish metal and seats that reminds me of a car interior from 1920's era. I wish we didn't have to endure seeing the huge tellies playing live football Sky sports, very distracting to the eye cos the bar area is open plan to the restaurant it gets on your nerves a bit. I personally felt my space was a bit invaded by the seats being so close I couldn't relax as someones elbow was close to me and the gap between the tables was small and I thought my bum was gonna get wedged right in it when I got up to leave. The wine list was just too expensive so we had a non alcoholic drink instead with our meals. The overall feel was a bit dark and being in a ship, which I think the hotel is meant to be as it all sounds "shippy" all shipbuilder-y and macho , not for diners who like traditional open fires and drape things going on and cosy corners to relax and slouch into .

Great value.Food was very nice with lots to chose from.Soup served to the table was Spicy Sweet Potato which was lovely,A large range of starters including pate mackerel prawn cocktails and salads.Main Course roast beef turkey ham with all the trimmings and dessert was apple pie, ice cream ,custard ,waffles ,cheesecake etc .We are returning on 12th March for my dads birthday lunch.

We popped into the restaurant after a pleasant but very brief massage. Whilst the service was good, the food was not. I ordered a 'bucket of onion rings' hoping for a cure for my hangover. The bucket arrived, 1/3 full and to my horror the rings were cooked from frozen! Not yummy big rounds of onion freshly fried in batter no, a handful of bog standard freezer aisle onion ring wannabes. All for £7.50. I declined the bucket of sub standard grub and nicked a few of my friends chips instead. Very disappointing all in all.

Had to wait over 1 hour for a burger when it came was ok just ok for £15 not good enough still waiting for sweet lol

A couple of things that could be improved. We were a big group there for a meal which was booked in advance. The service was particularly slow. The meal was 7.30pm & we were served our starters at 8.45pm. A few in our group had trains to get later on. My dessert didn't arrive & most people were finished theirs so I asked for a coffee instead which was added to the bill. Also on the final bill were numerous bottles of water which were never ordered for the table but were simply taken over by the waitress & poured into glasses. We spoke up & the bill was amended. On a positive note the food was REALLY GOOD but if you're in a hurry avoid!

My husband and I stayed here for a night in October. We had a couple of drinks at the bar, had dinner in the restaurant and then breakfast the following morning. We really enjoyed every aspect of our stay - staff were friendly, food was good and the room was cosy and comfortable. Would definitely go back.

Visited the public house for lunch today. The food was good and the service was equally good. Pleasant surroundings lose to the city centre , we will visit again.

Stayed before and not a great experience, service issues. Return visit and some improvements observed. A new hotel, opened in the summer and pretty stylish. Rooms will need to be start to be maintained to keep the standards people expect, some of the walls were dmamaged and paintwork coming off walls - simple things can be repaired romshould be. Otherwise the room was great. We ate in the bar and struggled to get a table but service and food great, recommed the chicken tikka curries very much!! Great location for concert venues. Visited YB 21/12/15.

Just stayed for a second time. Very smart place, friendly helpful staff. Clean, spacious and well appointed en suite bedrooms. Excellent on site parking. Perfect.

Great venue for our party. Food was excellent. Area was clean and roomy. DJ was good had the dancefloor full. Waitress service was very good. 1st class for this type of night.

Had dinner at the restaurant in the hotel, staff very attentive and nothing was a bother to them. The food was absolutely lovely, all food is prepared fresh which shows in the taste/quality & presentation of the food. Everything we ordered was of a decent size in portion and the taste was amazing, highly recommend this restaurant for eats.

Walked into the Villiage last night after seeing Michael McIntyre with my finance and our two friends. We had three drinks during the show at the hydro then sauntered over to the Villiage to have another couple before heading home as working today. Ordered our drinks at the bar for my fiancé to be told that he(and only he) was too "tipsy" and the waitress had a duty to "protect the public". She handed him a glass of water and asked him to pay for the other three drinks. My fiancé, a man of 30 who is 5 foot 9 and an ex marine who knows about actually protecting the public, can handle more than 3 vodkas over an evening and as such said this was ridiculous. We were asked to pay for the three drinks that had been poured and leave.

We stayed there for one night and it was amazing! The hotel has such an original design which is beautiful. I am into all of my fitness so the gym and pool I loved, the gym was enourmous with every piece of equipment you could ever ask for. Will certainly be revisiting this hotel in the future!

Excellent choice of starters, soup, Roasts with all the trimmings, cold & hot desserts.. Great value & quality of food.. Especially the Gammon which was melt in the mouth delicious

Don't visit here, staff slow and focus only on residents. Waste of a visit for anyone who hasn't booked a room. Tried to order drinks and the bar staff decided to doing paperwork was more important than serving customers leaving a group of 4 clients unable to order drinks prior to a 12pm curfew. This curfew didn't apply to another group and the night manager wasn't aware.

I had the cod and a side of macaroni. I also had calamari to start. Every bit of this meal was totally fantastic and it was very good value. Stagff were really attentive. A fantastic restaurant.

Wonderful stay! Great welcome on the Clyde side at reception. Upper deck room. Massive bed!!! Great view over hydro. Spa amazing. Rebecca and all the girls amazing 10\10. Did a bit of training in gym with p\t . jess. Very very good. Very nice dinner. Great sleep. Then wow breakfast. Haggis a must. Will be back. The diamond in this black box. THE STAFF. Wonderful.

Op vrijdag is het burger me dag. Een burger voor 1 pond. Het is dan gezellig druk want ook veel mensen uit de buurt komen een burger eten. Daarnaast ook een keer van de kaart gegeten met een grote groep. Zelf gemaakte pizza was zalig maar ook het aanbod van vleesgerechten was zeker lekker. Alles zeer verzorgd.

tried both bar and restaurant in this new hotel to Glasgow. Bar offers great range from light bites to big burgers (£1 friday night burger for members, superb offer). Have taken to using the bar 'healthy eating' options pre or post gym classes. If you are seeking a good gym/fitness instruction, would highly recommend this one.

Fantastic Sunday Roast in a cool, modern restaurant with excellent service. Great selection of starters, carvery and desserts. Really relaxed atmosphere. Martin, our server was a delight. Very courteous, professional and personable. Relaxed atmosphere. Spot on 10/10.

We booked a so called Upper deck room yesterday for one night and we will NEVER go back and here are the reasons why;

the food takes so long to come , that , even when it arrives , and is poor , you just eat it. Don't go hungry to this restaurant bar. the pitta bread / pizza dough with your pasta is a cold garlic mush. beware!!!!

we ate at the verve grill.the service was appaling.the receptionist was phoning when we walked up to the restaurant reservation area and she completely ignored us for 5 mins,not even a nod of her head to ackowlege us,eventually the manager showed us to a seat.we ordered a glass of wine the waiter said they stocked but came back with a diffirent wine as they did not stock what we asked for.we sat for about 30 mins before our food order was brought. then we sat with dirty 1st course dishes in front of us for an hour.the waiter had disapeared we could not order a drink.we were about to leave without our 2nd course when the manager said it would be right there.30 mins later it arrived.the fillet steak was dried out and tough as though it had sat around for a while.appaling service bad food and all because "the waiter had training needs" according to the management.he took the 10% service charge off our bill.!

Burger me Friday offers a burger for £1 plus additional £1 for fries and 75p each for cheese or bacon or other extras up until 7.30pm. Great deal

i purchased a 5pm deal for village urban hotel resturant .the food was excellent and the carvery was everything we expected .plenty of choices staff were first class esp owen .they could not do enough for you .i would go back with out the 5 pm deal as it was well worth the money .100 out of 100 xxx

I have to say this new hotel ...which is an exact replica of the one in Edinburgh ...serves a really dreadfull veggie burger. As a vegetarian there wasn't much to interest me on the menu so the burger seemed like the best choice. Unfortunately I couldn't even work out what it was made of as the unpleasant tasting mush was inedible. I think they should change their supplier and do a bit more market research. I did write a personal email to the hotel to give them constructive feedback but they didn't even have the manners to reply.

Went to this lovely new hotel for their bar food as we had been in the bar previously for a drink and liked the service and surroundings - we noticed posters offering a deal on a Friday for burger for £1.00 as well as fries for £1.00 and thought we would give it a go. Whilst the service was good and we both ordered burgers with peanut butter and bacon (each extra topping costing 75pence) they managed to get the order wrong and we got one with cheese and bacon which was not the end of the world but all I can say is frozen fries and I hope to god this is not the burgers that you pay £10 for normally as even at £1.00 I wouldnt go back - we also ordered a bucket of onion rings at £7.50 which is extreme for a bucket full of frozen onion rings that you could buy in Iceland for £1.00 what ever happened to home made onion rings - there are far too many places on groupon/itison or other sites that offer really good deals for burgers for me to go back to The Public House Bar within The Village Resort Hotel, Glasgow and certainly would not be enticed to use their restaurant

My other half bought a voucher from 5pm for the "sunday roast with the most", so we decided to use it yesterday 23/08/15. On arrival, the staff were great, friendly and very customer focussed. One thing i hate in restaurants is pretentiousness. There was none of this in here! The staff actually took time to strike up a conversation and have a laugh with us.

Came in for dinner although quiet service and food was great but don't sit under the air conditioning fan restaurant manager I forget her name was lovely telling us about the hotel and services great decor will be back to try the Sunday roast great seating area outside for when the weather is good right on my doorstep too very im pressed

#burgerme Friday at the Village is well as it says.. popped by the Public House Bar on Friday 5-7.30pm and get a burger for £1.00.. decent flavoursome burger which is kinda rare with all these burger places popping up. Delicious, chips were amazing too (£1.00) and to add topping .75p. cant complain for a quick cheap eat after work
