No volveríamos

Really lovely lunch, great value, took my daughter as a pre Christmas treat. Set meal of 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 sweets. We both had the turkey and it was delicious. The reason for not giving an excellent was being charged £4 each for a cup of coffee, and it was not even great, it was strong and bitter. I left half of mine, my daughter paid for it so didn't know till we left, I was astonished. I have had a pot of coffee in lovely surrounding of Marr Hall and only paid this price. So be aware when booking this deal, have a lovely meal and go elsewhere for a coffee.

Dined here with family , on arrival it was very quiet which I found strange , Waitress was friendly and attentive. Seated looking onto George square , table was set nicely but It felt like we were sitting in a shop window. Now the food no complaints with the pate and haggis although it was just average. The main course of chicken was slightly better but could have maybe have had more pomme purée ( mash) This was a groupon deal and to be fare it was good value for money but I don't think it would make me return any time soon.

This booking was made for my mum's birthday, and it was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately there was only one waitress serving the entire restaurant, she was absolutely phenomenal, her name was Sophie and she was on placement at the restaurant. She coped fantastic under the pressure and was so lovely and helpful. The barman was absolutely hopeless and we waited for over 20mins for our drinks. The ambiance and atmosphere in the restaurant were second to none- so relaxing and warm, very up-market and posh, a very classy and elegant experience. Already booked to go again!

Went to the Brasserie last night with the friend I’m staying with in Scotland. We always eat in the City 2 or 3 times a week when I’m here, but had never been to the Brasserie previously. The Dining room was absolutely pristine, beautifully set out, and we sat in the mirrored terrace part overlooking George Square. Staff very attentive from entering the restaurant, and every course we had was delicious. Piping hot soup, with a beautiful warm crispy roll & butter. I had the Chicken, and it was a perfect sized meal, with lovely fresh vegetables, and a delicious mushroom jus. (Nothing frozen here) My friend had the Salmon as the Sea Bass wasn’t available, and she said it was beautifully cooked. We really didn’t want a dessert, but on seeing another diner with the Sticky Toffee pudding, we could not resist, and it was perfect. Light as a feather sponge, perfect sauce, and ice cream to accompany it. With two glasses of wine, it was a real bargain at just under £60. We will definitely be back when I’m up here again in mid April.

We had a voucher for a festive afternoon tea which I used with my husband on 29th January. If I'd paid for it I would be very disappointed - I'm annoyed on behalf of my friend who did purchase it. When we entered we were asked if we wanted tea or coffee before even being seated. The seating is in the window area of the hotel, the sun was beating through the windows blinding all tables. As direct sunshine can give me a migraine I asked if there was anywhere to sit out of the sun. I was told no. There was one table set back a bit so the server reluctantly agreed we could move there, and I angled my seat to help a bit. Our pots of coffee came immediately and we then waited for the food. Obviously I didn't pour the coffee until the food came. At which point we discovered, despite writing it when we came in, we'd been given tea. We had to go find the server who looked at my husband as if he was stupid when he explained she'd given us tea instead of coffee. She did bring "fresh" coffee. Which was cold. At this point I gave up as there was a fault with everything!! To the food - sandwiches were awful. Dried out bread with bizarre fillings. A coleslaw sandwich (may have had a sliver of cheese hiding), tuna with sweetcorn, and some other mayo type filling on mini triangles. I eat anything and I gave up. Not what you expect from a decent restaurant. The scones were the saving grace. Small, but crisp on the outside, soft in the middle. The cakes were plastic. By that I mean they were clearly bought in packs. Brownie bites that were too dry to eat, cheesecake and strawberry tart were ok but I expect my cakes baked specially - if I was making someone afternoon tea at home I wouldn't expect the catering from Mr Kipling. It certainly didn't merit a £13 a head price tag. Very disappointing, especially as it was a waste of a half day from work.

We visited Edinburgh and came across the ItIsOn website with some great deals. We bought a few vouchers for a request places to make our stay in Edinburgh more exciting. We phoned the businesses to book the vouchers and everyone said we needed to print the vouchers. This isn't mentioned anywhere on the ItIsOn website and it seems like a pretty basic thing to say. Needless to say, I've asked for a refund, which is stated as taking 14 days (jog on, does the financial team only work 1 day every 2 weeks or something) so we will see if they can sort that out. Overall I'm extremely disappointed and am now out of pocket for a few days due to the Ts & Cs not being correct. I'm sure this is a legal issue so I will be researching if they are in breach of their contract also

Food very good although not a lot of choice with the voucher therefore had to pay supplement. Starters soup, pate, or haggis bonbons. Mains roast chicken supreme, roast salmon or goats cheese supplement for steak. Desserts were extra. Service on the other hand was not as good waited ages for our drinks. People who can in after us were served first and our meal was taken to another table. The man that was in charge of the restaurant walked passed our table 4 times and never once asked if we were finished or offered to remove our plates. The Brasserie and the main restaurant were nearly full but no excuse for walking past finished plates or waiting 20 minutes for them to be taken away hence only 3 stars.

Took my mum for an afternoon tea, so as you can imagine we were looking forward to it a Christmas treat but I’ve never been so disappointed. Let’s start with tea it’s a tea bag in a pot, now I’m not a tea snob but come on everyone know you use proper tea when you have afternoon tea. The scone was nice thank god as it was the only thing that was, the cakes well what can I say I never seen cakes look so poor they have a chocolate eclair that they halved in two that counts as one of your cakes each, a small bit of carrot cake and the smallest mine pie your ever seen and that’s it and that’s it couldn’t believe my eyes, the sandwiches again very poor. Think it’s the first time I’ve never had to ask for them to box up what we didn’t eat as you wouldn't want it, it’s nothing like the picture on their web page, look somewhere else if your looking for a nice afternoon tea there are plenty around the city centre but not here.

I purchased a Groupon deal for 2 starters and 2 mian courses at a cost of £17 which in my opinion is really very cheap indeed. Th Brasserie is located in the Millenium Hotel on George Square and we were lucky enough to get a table in the conservatory overlooking the square. I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever, the food was good, the service was fine, in fact overall it was much better than I had expected for £17. The only sort of negative comment I have to make is about the price of drinks and the fact that there was a supplement of £6 each for a steak. The drinks were a tad on the pricey side, but then it is the Millenium on the Square so we should have expected that. The £6 supplement EACH for steaks again I feel was a bit pricey. I think maybe £3-£4 would have been more appropriate as the steaks were good but nothing fabulous, just good. In summary I would probably say this was a pleasant experience with decent food and service and to be honest even with the extra £12 for the steaks it was really worth the money. I do believe I would go again without a Groupon voucher!

The menu was limited for vouchers and I don't think this is right as I had no opportunity to see what else was available for future visits. The food was not of a good quality. Dry chicken and hard potatoes were not appetising at all. Air conditioning made the conservatory cold. I had received a birthday gift from a friend for a 2course dinner for 2 and decided to go along with my daughter. We were seated at a table in a corner directly in line with a door and every time the door opened, I got the full blast of the cold air coming in. We were handed a sheet of paper each with a poor choice of available menu. After about 15 minutes, we were finally asked if we would like to order drink, which took about 15 minutes to be served. It took about another 10 minutes before we were asked what we wanted to eat. After sitting for about 45 minutes, a waitress came to our table and said that the kitchen was very busy and we could have a complimentary drink because of the wait for food. Our starter finally arrived and it was poor quality. The soup was almost like syrup, as it was a very thick consistency. The rolls which accompanied it were hard and tasteless. Our mains appeared about ten minutes later and although it was well cooked, the portion was hardly filling. Overall, I would say that the staff who were serving were doing their best to fulfil their part, but the complete lack of organisation from the management was terrible. Saturday night is always busy when dining out, and they should ensure that they have adequate staff to deal with a lot of people dining. This was my first visit to this place and I would certainly not be too quick to return. As I mentioned before, the waiting staff were helpful, but that was the only saving grace about it.

I had emailed to ask for some 'plain' sandwiches for my daughter, and was a bit disappointed that this translated into all 'plain sandwiches, cheese, ham and dry chicken, all fine but a disappointing selection. As others have said cake selection very uninspired and nothing like the glorious display shown on the groupon deal, Overall for the money paid it was fine and my daughter enjoyed sitting watching all the buses/people go by, wouldn't rush back as had other groupon afternoon tea which was much more enjoyable, shame because the setting has potential to be somewhere really special with a little imagination.

Met by a very helpful young man and shown into bar area for lunch. Waited and waited to be served and eventually went to the bar to order. Drinks took a while. After about half an hour the food came for the diners at the next table and the chicken sandwich looked lovely. Our food arrived 65 minutes after we had ordered it. I had ordered a focaccia and got a panini. My husbands chicken sandwich was brick hard and the chicken was overcooked and like rubber. Looked like left overs. No members of staff were anywhere to be seen so after 20 minutes we went out to the hotel reception to complain and was told someone would come over to speak to us. A waitress then come over to clear the table and asked if we had enjoyed our lunch! We said it was inedible and she carried on clearing the table then walked away. So we decided not to wait any longer and went out to reception to be told the duty manager was coming to speak to us but after a further ten minutes waiting we really weren't interested. To be fair they didn't charge for the lunch and took our number and a gentleman called us later to apologise but seemed uninterested and would have been better if he hadn't called. I hope they learn from this. The restaurant is right in the centre of Glasgow and not a great advert for the city.

Afternoon tea, been there a few times with friends using the groupon deal and has been great.....however this time was shockingly bad, mostly due to food, few thin sandwiches, two small underbaked very cheap scones, cream was the kind from a can, 2 bits of plain gingerbread and 2 bits of brownie cake. It all looked poor, asked the waitress if possible to change the cakes as didn't like, and could see other tables with cakes and strawberry tarts etc, she said no as that was how it came asked to speak to somebody else .. 15 mins later she said the manager had said no as well and that if I was allergic to gingerbread I should have called them to let them know about my allergies! Had to tell her twice I wasn't allergic to gingerbread!!! Just would have liked a wee strawberry tart like others, I was then told that "they are for the VIP guests" I asked if there was a different menu for Groupon guests and she said yes!!! Eventually asked for and got the duty manager who was really nice and got us a bit of chocolate cheesecake each. So disappointed in the whole experience, been to loads of afternoon teas and never had a lump of plain gingerbread presented to me, the Millenium hotels own website shows a lovely picture of what a an afternoon tea you can expect and this disaster fell far short, but the worst aspect of this visit was to be made to feel inferior because it was on a groupon deal and we weren't "vips" any groupon deals I have been on there has never been a different menu and I was shocked that this waitress admitted that there was. Have emailed groupon to let them know and as want my money back as their picture did not represent the disaster we were presented with. Also had my son there and he got chips but no knife or fork ??? Won't be back better places to spend my money !

But Mr Fawlty where this visit was a letdown ......Your little waiter friend with lack of English, every slight problem "I get manager" I didn't need manager I like another dissatisfied diner just needed issues addressed. Firstly, sideplate but no bread offered? Secondly, salmon with crushed potatoes and chicken with roast potatoes - yet both dishes were crushed? When questioned simple solution bring ROAST potatoes but no both waiter and chef believe said potatoes on each dish are suitable? No, they were both the same CRUSHED! Please do not insult my Scottish Intelligence - I know what Roast potatoes are and they were not on that plate. Extremely disappointing and to add further the dessert "Cranachan" was not again as described. Best try other more suitable eateries unless you like your Roast Potatoes "crushed"

Booked a groupon deal for afternoon tea. I had purchased vouchers for 6 people but only 5 going as the deal was for 2 and 4 people. It was to be a special day as my daughter was shopping for wedding dresses with her bridesmaids and I'd booked this a couple of months ago as a treat. The restaurant was very quiet but we were seated at a table right at the back beside the toilets. It would have been nice to sit out beside the windows but that's ok. We ordered soft drinks and the sour faced waitress was at pains to tell us this wasn't included in the deal. I was aware of this and didn't expect free drinks. She brought our drinks back with the same sour expression she left us with and didn't ask who was having what drink. She just put them down on the table and when my niece reached for her drink, the waitress handed it to her and said "here". She put my can in the middle of the table and couldn't even be bothered to walk round with it. I didn't have a glass so she went away to get one and it had no ice. My friend asked for a slice of lemon and was told there was none as the restaurant had ordered lemon juice instead of lemons (I mean seriously...this is a reasonably big hotel). The waitresses attitude was awful and we all picked up on it immediately. She really didn't want to be there and she was determined to let us know it. Our food was brought out on 2 platters by a different waitress. There was 4 scones and 5 people. I said to the waitress is this for 6 people as that's what I've paid for. She said yes one platter is for 3 people and one is for 2 people....both platters were the same size with the same amount of food on them. Again I said there's only 4 scones so she took a platter away and brought it back with just another scone added. My niece ordered a hot chocolate and again we were told this isn't included in the deal....ok we get it!!! The bread was slightly stale on the sandwiches and tasted of nothing. We left most of these. The scones were undercooked and fell apart as you spread jam on them. The strawberry tarts, profiteroles and gateau were really nice. I've never left a restaurant without tipping but I did on this occasion. I was so disappointed with the service as was the rest of my party. The staff certainly need to be put on customer care courses and to be professional and friendly...even a smile goes a long way. Definitely won't ever go back here. I've been to a few places for afternoon tea and this place was by far the worst.

The tea arrived they did not ask if anyone had dietary requirements and when I said I had the server said that all sandwiches were made but he would ask he then brought me some which was really good. We were going to take a drink and after waiting on 20 mins for someone to come we went out to find someone to ask for a drinks menu. After another 20/30 mins they then asked if we required anything but by that time we were not going to give them anymore of our business. The service was non existing even though it was not busy and we felt that they were rude. Bought this on Groupon, starter and mains for two for £17. That was the best thing about it, how cheap it was and it reflected the whole experience. After being seated we waited twenty minutes before anyone came to take an order including a drinks order. Then the service was very slow. We received our main course one hour and five minutes after sitting down. We did not wait to buy tea or coffee just paid for the one extra we ordered and left. The food was no better than average. We went somewhere else for coffee. My wife had to use the toilet, two cubicles one blocked with tissue, no hand towels available and the hand dryer was broken

Took my wife out for afternoon tea. Really enjoyed it, we were greeted and seated right away, in the conservatory overlooking George Square. The square was busy being such a lovely day, but you couldn't hear the hustle and bustle of the city from inside which was nice. Afternoon Tea, fresh sandwiches, scones and cakes were quickly served and with free refills on the tea and coffee we left stuffed. Highly recommended.

I've been living in Glasgow for 20 years and have never eaten here but my Mum had a voucher so we decided to give it a go. I was really glad we did as we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and we were made to feel really welcome. I had the haggis Bon Bons to start which were really nice and I had the roasted chicken for main course which was beautifully cooked and thoroughly enjoyable. My Mum and Sister really enjoyed theirs too. We will come back here. Great food and great service. Thanks very much.

A big thank you to the manager of the Brasserie and his team for providing a wonderful evening for my daughter's 21st birthday last night. The meal was lovely and the staff were very friendly and attentive, helping us with preparations and providing a lovely relaxed atmosphere. I cannot thank them enough for the service provided. My only concern was the menu stated pork loin when the dish received was pork belly, this caused a slight disappointment but did not bring a dark cloud over the evening. Overall I was very pleased with the service and hope to return in future.

My friend an I went here for an afternoon tea and were very well looked after. We were very warmly greeted and shown to our table in the brasserie. We were facing into George Square which is amazing for people watching. We were promptly served our refreshments and then, the delights appeared. Cucumber sandwiches, salmon sandwiches and wonderful variety of cakes and macaroons. Refills of tea were offered also. Cannot compliment the service highly enough. The food was beautiful too. Would definitely return.

We ordered a main course and dessert and a bottle of wine, first thing to arrive was soup, didn't order any. Now that's fine we can all make mistakes but it meant we had a very long wait for our main course. My husband had fish and he said it was good, I had spinach and ricotta tortellini which was lovely and piping hot. We followed this with sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake for me. Cheesecake was amazing. We were sitting in the conservatory area which I think is a bit cramped but nice to look out onto George square.

Lovely afternoon tea accompanied by a very nice glass (or 2) of prosecco. Usual choice of sandwiches - ham, salmon & cream cheese, cucumber - and plenty of them. Finished off by scones and a nice selection of mini cakes - too much for us to manage! Individual pots of tea refilled at no additional cost. Lovely to sit back, relax and watch the world go by in George Square.

I recently took my Gran here for Afternoon Tea for her birthday, and the service was incredible straight away. We requested a table in the conservatory, which gives you a lovely view over George Square whilst making it bright and airy. Food was nice, and we were given teas and coffees along with our prosecco- which is lovely as many of the places I have been before have only offered tea OR coffee included in your afternoon tea. At the end of our visit, we were given a voucher for buy one get one free for our next visit- and we'll definitely be back.

I Was a guest in a large party (32) for afternoon tea. The party was pre-booked and to be fair we arrived a little early, about 15-20 mins. Our tea and coffee was served after about 15 mins and then we had to wait almost 30 minutes for the cake stands to be served with the sandwiches etc. By which time the tea and coffee was cold. Three stands between 8 were placed on the table, I asked our waitress if this was correct and she said our other stand was at the bar, and she would bring it when it was needed, as there was no room on the table, which was nonsense. I went to the bar and brought the other stand to our table. I have to add she served all of us on her own, while two of her colleagues faffed about in a corner and watched her. I was only concerned with our table therefore I can't say whether the other tables got their quota of goodies. If they didn't one has to wonder if the "extra" stand is then resold!!The door was constantly left opened, and as it was a bitterly cold day we were frozen. All in all what should have been a lovely experience was anything but. I despair of a lot of places in our fair city. Is good service a thing of the past? Are patrons nowadays expected to put up and shut up? And be expected to pay city prices for this abysmal service? Tourism is a huge industry that brings revenue to the city. However reputation is also very important and I hope tourists to my lovely city have a better experience than me. I was ashamed.

Booked after buying the itison voucher for two mains with a drink for £14.We were seated in the conservatory and the unseasonally nice weather was great and allowed us to people watch. The paper menus were a bit grubby and the main menu looked like it had been laminated then cut apart with really small scissors, not the best first impression.I had the club sandwich which was tasty but the fries were frozen skinny style for all dishes. Side salad was nice too but the salad on the sandwich was wilted.Other dishes were chicken and fish goujons - tasted nice but small portions and served on wood in small baskets which doesn't make it easy to eat from.We ate all our food but it wasn't good enough to encourage me to go back any time soon. Glad we had a voucher as I'd be unhappy to pay the full (city centre) price for any of the dishes. The conservatory is a nice place to sit however it needs a good clean and spruce up and the carpets I could see in the lounge could do with replacing. It's a shame to see city centre hotels with very few customers eating but there's so much competition they really need to up their game. The staff were nice and friendly but I can imagine they'll have to deal with similar comments.A bit of effort by management and some better choices by the kitchen and this place could be raking it in.We felt we could have had the same meal in a pub nearby.

Starters were cod fish cakes for me. It was tasty but three could have been better than two. Main meal I went for Coley creole. Mmmmm fish with a creole sauce and boiled rice. Sauce had a nice kick to it.It was a good meal and location is a bonus.

I booked this as a surprise for my sisters 50th birthday. I will start by saying that the food was lovely, and the sandwiches were freshly made. Unfortunately we had to wait over half an hour for the food to be brought to us (you only get the table for 90 mins). The waitress was a bit abrupt when we asked about it, it would have been nice to be told when we arrived that there would be a delay. There were 11 of us and we got a plate of finger sandwiches which equated to 2 or 3 each, not enough for one of each filling per person. A big part of afternoon tea is scone, jam and cream but we only got 10 scones for 11 of us. We got 2 very small pots of cream and jam between 11 of us. When we asked for more we got some large pots of jam and cream. We very nicely explained to the waitress our disappointment at the portions and were given another plate of scones and cakes, the cakes were delicious. There was plenty tea and this was very nice. We were by no means trying to be greedy but felt that a bit of thought should have been put into the portions for a large number of people. Although we were disappointed, especially as it was a special occasion, I would still recommend the afternoon tea here.

Both came with large fries and fresh salad. The meal was well presented. Staff were welcoming and efficient. I had a 175 ml glass of red wine and my sister had orange juice. The deal was for £14. Me and my fiancé were given a gift voucher for a meal at this hotel/restaurant. We decided to go on a Thursday evening. As we had imagined it was a set menu, not a great selection to choose from about 4 starters and 4 mains to choose from and I think about 5 or 6 desert options. We opted for the chicken dish. We were seated in the conservatory area looking on to George Square, the view was nice. It had been a very hot day so the air con and a fan were on, but at 7.30pm the sun was no longer shining in and it was just cold, we turned the fan off ourselves as a waiter had told us to do so if we wished, but the air con remained on throughout the meal, there was no music in this part of the restaurant and just lacked atmosphere. After being seated for 20 mins the waitress took our drink and meal order. We waited about 15 mins for the drinks and close to 25 mins for the meal. When the meal came we were disappointed by the small portions of bland food in front of us. 1 chicken thigh with some tomato sauce, a couple of very small sliced potatoes, a bit of courgette and 2 slice of chorizo. We had ordered a side of garlic bread with the meal and didn’t come, we asked the waitress and she brought the bread out just as we were finishing our meal. No one came to ask if our meal was okay. We then sat with the empty plates on the table for 25 min before they were taken away, when the waitress came to clear the table were asked if we would like to order desert which we had already ordered. We then waited a further 40min for our dessert, after about 25 mins we asked the waitress about the food and she very rudely snapped at my fiancé that they were on their way. 10 mins later she came back and said "we know you have been waiting a long time, do you want a complimentary drink", we refused because by this time we were cold, hungry, tired and very disappointed and just wanted to eat our desert and get of there, we paid for the drinks we had bought, ate our deserts and left. The deserts were a simple slice of cheese cake and a bit of chocolate sponge with watery chocolate sauce advertised as chocolate pudding, hardly worth a 40 min wait. As we left the waitress/hostess looked at us but failed to say anything, no good night, which I find extremely rude. For a 2 course set menu we were in there far too long, and the restaurant was not busy at all, there were a few people in the conservatory but no one in the main part. Awful service, rude staff, I will not be back.

Dined here on an Itison voucher which gave a two course meal for two , staff were very good , seat was excellent with a wonderful view of George Square , thats where the positives end.Starters were okay but the main courses were appalling , i had Loin of Pork - it was a grey/white in colour - my wife who works in catering informed me that it had been kept on a hotplate then blasted in the microwave hence the lack of colour , taste was dreadful as well.My wife had a chicken pasta dish , it was boiled chicken which they tried to disguise by use of a dreaful sauce.Whilst the cost of the meal wasn't expensive this is supposed to be a 4 star hotel and i can say without doubt it is the worst voucher deal we have ever encountered , The Millenium Hotel seriously needs to look at the food situation and how to improve it , given the wealth and qaulity of restaurants around the Square these days they are light years behind - has also put us off booking this hotel for a weekend in Glasgow to celebrate our 25th Anniversary in June - immediate action required by the Hotel Management

I have been to this establishment a few times in the past, with my family when they come to visit the city, as they tend to stay in the hotel next door. Today was a really unpleasant and disappointing experience for everyone involved. The waitress seemed completely disinterested and didn't seem to appreciate it when we asked for extra drinks etc...We stated we wanted the children's meals to be brought out at the same time as ours, they were brought to us about 15-20 minutes before the adult meals were served. I ordered a club sandwich which I have had before and was really happy with, this one was awful. It was cold and half of the sandwich hadn't even been toasted. My partner's meal was also poorly cooked and quite bland, considering the price. To top it all off we had to deal with a terrible woman who was dining at the next table, that clearly felt she didn't deserve to be seated next near a family with two, perfectly well behaved children. Her attitude, through no fault of the staff or the hotel, contributed to this disastrous meal. It's a shame but I definitely will not be going back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone, unless you're dining alone or with a partner / friend.

My friend booked a "deal" which I have to say is not a deal when it's not something you would rave about or recommend. Must say the staff were very nice, service was friendly and attentative, now for the food...both of us ordered the burgers, don't you think when it's a nice meaty pattie cooked well there is nothing better ? not here I'm afraid, over-cooked and dry, yuk but decent enough bun & salad which was nicely dressed, chips were string fries and possibly frozen. So we had to order a bottle of wine to wash down the food. £17.95 for a bottle of Spanish plonk, yes we washed down the dry burger with pretty awful/over-priced wine. Whilst the view is nice I certainly would not go back, we rushed across the road to The Counting House, I thought to myself probably would have been better in here. Not impressed.

My friends and I bought five vouchers off of itison (should be renamed something more appropriate like itisnotwhatyoupaidfor) that entitled ten people to afternoon tea in the restaurant. Firstly, the service was appalling. Upon arrival, we were shown to our seat. No one offered to take our coats so I had to get up and do this myself. I then had to wait 30 minutes for a bottle of Prosecco I had ordered. The rest of the party were not offered refreshments like tea or coffee. We had paid for 10 people but one of the party members could no longer make it. We were not given the extra glass of Prosecco which we have paid for either. After an hour of waiting around, we had to ask if our afternoon tea would be served. We were told to hand over our vouchers. They should do this in the first instance rather than the customer having to pull it out at the table. The next bit actually stunned me!!We were brought our afternoon tea out on trays for the whole table! It resembled a child’s birthday party spread at a church hall. Having experienced afternoon tea at the sister Millennium Hotel in Mayfair (both are classed as 4 stars) I was expecting a similar experience but I was truly stunned and speechless at this presentation. I asked for this to be returned and to be brought out on tiers as afternoon tea should be served. We were told by the server he thought we would prefer to have it on trays. No I do not want to be shouting down the table for someone to pass down the one sandwich tray, funnily enough! It was then brought out on 3 separate tiers for a table of ten people. We should really have received five separate tiers but I was totally fed up with the lack of service by this point that I didn’t bother commenting. The food itself was abysmal. The three tiers consisted of hard scones. Costco and Mr Kipling cakes and tasteless sandwiches - literally just 3 pieces of cucumber and nothing else! The advert states for the voucher I bought ‘freshly baked cakes, freshly baked scones’. This is false advertising. Our cutlery was chipped and dirty and the teapot resembled something you would get in a dirty fry up cafe.I made the staff aware that I was extremely annoyed with my experience. I do not think it is value for money at all. I would not recommend anyone in future to buy this deal and I would advise that they reconsider buying a so called deal from itison.

We were shown to our table by a very friendly waitress and offered water and a very good menu. The starters came quickly and were tasty. Never felt like the staff were trying to rush us onto the main course either. When we did make it onto the main course it was a large portion, tasted good and was exactly the sort of thing I wanted. From the time we entered, to the time we left, the service could not be faulted. After pre-meal drinks, we were led to our table and given sufficient time to study the menu and make our choices. When the meals arrived we were all delighted with what we had chosen. The main courses were substantial with none of these fancy wannabee Masterchef touches which mean basically less food and leave you still hungry at the end of the meal. Some reviews of Glasgow that I have read suggest that visitors leave their hotel in the evening to visit one of the many restaurants in Glasgow. Can I just suggest that any visitors staying at the Millenium do at least have one meal in The Brasserie.

Looked forward to using our Itison voucher of two courses for 2 people for £19 at a place I've wanted to try for ages. We coupled it up as a birthday celebration - money is a bit tight these days :( Arrived at 6.30pm to an empty restaurant. Had a bad feeling when the waitress confirmed with us that we were 'Itison' customers - we were handed a very limited menu of only 4 choices for each course, on headed paper specifically for this deal. I understand the need for a more restricted menu, but 4 seemed a bit mean. Worst of all - all portions were tiny. Starter of vegetable crumble - 2 small closed cup mushrooms with a 1/2 teaspoon of some sort of vegetable filling is not decent. It's not on to offer a 'deal' and then offer smaller portions. The noise from the dominoes tournament in the pub next door (belonging to the hotel) was incredible! It sounded fun, but a bit like a serious gambling den (not for the easily offended) and bizarre to be listening to it when dining with views over George Square. Pleasant enough waiting staff and wine was lovely. Pork belly was actually very tasty, but left hungry and with a distinct feeling of having been ripped off by the Millennium Hotel and Itison. Sorry to whine, but such pity!

I'm glad I hadn't looked at previous reviews of the Brasserie. I was looking for a restaurant for a family lunch to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. My 83yo mum-in-law is a very fussy eater so I was struggling to find somewhere that would accommodate her. I spoke with the restaurant manager who suggested that she could choose from the children's menu. Perfect! When we arrived we were shown to our table inside when I had requested a table in the conservatory. This was quickly rectified & we were seated in the sun......I'm embarrased to say that we found it too warm & asked to move inside. The staff were lovely as we apologised for being difficult. They were extremely attentive & our drinks & starters arrived quickly. Mum ordered melon then fish & chips followed by ice cream & it's the 1st time we've seen her eat more than 1 course! Our meals were also lovely & we couldn't fault the quality or service. All in all it was a successful family celebration!

Worst shawarma I’ve ever had. I grew up with the best Lebanese/Middle Eastern food outside of the old country in Dearborn, Michigan. I enjoy pushing the envelope a bit with the cooks up King Street and Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow, and while a bit greasy, that food is all right. Shawarma Boy? Man: you gotta grow up. It’s clear that the food is hanging on its laurels with jalapeños, chilli…and zero taste underneath. For £13 for a wrap and chips, I expect a lot more than a tiny wrap which was made wrong in the first place - not okay for someone to order food without stuff to then have half the junk on it...I mean, get it together. The worst chicken shawarma I’ve ever tasted in the entire world can be found at Shawarma Boy in the Barras - Calton, Glasgow at BAaD. It's awful. Avoid.
