What a gem of a pub. Food was superb and traditional. The experience was made all the better because the Dog was allowed to come as well.

The food was great we would definitely be going back again.. They have a good range of dishes on the menu and specials boards too. The desserts are lovely as well.

The establishment offers affordable and comforting pub meals. The ambience is typically serene, and the service is prompt. I had a delightful dinner experience. For just £20, I enjoyed two meals consisting of fish and chips with mushy peas, as well as a beef roast dinner. Regrettably, the latte was excessively sweet for my taste. Nevertheless, the food was excellent and served swiftly.

We had the Shepherds Pie, it was delicious.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The young lady who served us was very welcoming, friendly, helpful and attentive. The meals that we had are not among the options below. Mince and dumplings with vegetables and mashed potato was delicious, as was the peppered chicken with chips. We will definitely be going again.

I have given 5 stars mostly for the service we received..the 2 young waitresses were very very good and we will be going back. The food was tasty and plentiful.

Went for the granddaughter 16th birthday meal.. It was lovely, I had the chicken, beef and prawn sizzler, could if done with some more prawns only had 2 on my plate. Staff was very friendly, helpful and attentive . Defo be back.

We found this place by chance and what a find it was, one of the best parmos I've ever had! All of our meals were spot on and the service was top notch too. We will definitely be back.

Another family night out at the village inn. Fantastic home cooked food with huge portions. Great selection of drinks. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Large carpark so plenty of room. Definitely recommend a meal here. Lasagne was amazing. Special curry was chock full of meat and fish and chips so fresh.

Hasn't really changed here in donkeys years but it's still a nice place to be, was a Monday night so very quiet, staff were attentive and friendly food was very good and came in a timely manner from ordering and was well priced. We had Gammon steak with all the trimmings and Cajun chicken sizzler with salad and wraps. Would definitely recommend a visit here to anyone.

Superb food today ! Place was packed we got a table at 3.30pm (1st available) staff were excellent as usual and the food considering how busy they were was fabulous luckily they had lamb still so I had that my dad of course went off menu but they did him the fish & chips he wanted. My partner had lasagna (weird for a Sunday but he enjoyed it) always a great atmosphere and food always good luckily they have gone back to their longer hours I don’t like eating before 3. Thank you all for a lovely meal.

Food qauilty and taste not the best, kids mashed potato loaded with pepper, rock hard roast potatoes, fatty meats.Definitely room for improvement. Would not recommend. Fish and chips no mushy peas.

Excellent booking again everything fresh staff very friendly

This was the second visit for lunch, we returned as our first visit food was lovely. This visit was a disappointment, maybe it was what we ordered but out of 5 meals only one was really enjoyed rest was ok. I would avoid the dinner as it was like left over veg heated up with smash for mashed potatoes. The meat was lovely veg not so good. Previously had lasagne it was lovely came with home made chips.

We stayed for 4 nights, and the room was 1st class. The staff were friendly and very efficient and the food was excellent. We will definitely stay again when in the area.

Been for Sunday lunch today which was fine , until they were clearing our plates etc away, when they took the bowl which had the mint sauce in it they didn’t put it with the dirty table ware they placed it back into the table where all the fresh mint sauces were , I thought this might of been a mistake but no every other bowl was placed on that place🤢. I asked one of the girls if this was correct and were the sauces going to be reused on other people she just blushed and said nooo , so I headed to the bar to pay my bill for another girl to ask if everything was ok which I replied yes until the end of my meal then going on to tell her what I had seen , she then told me my mint sauce was made fresh that morning , yes it might of been and yes I was the first to have it as you only start serving at 12pm and I was in for that sitting but what about the others after me , I told her that it was disgusting for her to say it’s not my pub , so basically if they can do that with mint sauce what else are they doing with food …..disgusting !!!

Had Roast Sunday Dinner and Fish and chips with mushy peas best food out there.Lovely young man on the phone called Micheal very helpful and when the young delivery man came with the food he was charming and polite called JP.Even wished my husband a happy Father’s Day .Totally recommend.Rog and Jan

Well food was good tasty gravy tender beef (all that was left at 3-30) Now it's all about service for me so on welcome a late booking I add but still not justifing the tone of the young lady who said 'oh just sit there' order given straight away although 3-30 adverts say serve till 4 hey ho does not excuse having a rude welcome and having to ask for cutlery and sauces, never asked if everything was ok or would I like anything else that would have been an imposition too many I think 🤔 won't be going back but not sure if they would be bothered anyway 😉

Food is pretty average for a pub, nothing special but simple filling meals for the market average price.

Went for Sunday Lunch and was a bit disappointed. The roast potatoes were hard, mash was ok, mashed swede was lovely then carrots and cabbage, I hate carrots. I was still hungry when I left. I have had meals here before and they are normally beautiful so from now on I will stick to weekday meals.

Sunday lunch for seven. Ample car parking available. All staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the service exquisite. Sunday lunch menu was reasonably priced and great value for money. I am aware that the normal menu is equally impressive. Highly recommended.

Not as good as usual for Sunday lunch. Meat dry. Mash dry , not enough veg for 6 people . Had to ask for cutlery when food arrived . Would not hurry back. Very disappointed

We come here on a regular basis for tea with family and to be fair have never had room for complaint but this visit was a wow ..on entering (there was 6 plus baby) to an empty pub par 1 table off 4 we asked if there was any tables free ..we were quickly shown to one given menus etc to then be approached by (owner I think) we need that table back in 2 hours..why give us table then?) that pissed me off straight away but then went from bad to bad to be fair every meal we were served had a problem (fish greasy as hell,chips unbeatable,lasagne more tomato than anything else,dinner beef was inedible) list could go on to be fair !! It’s a shame as always been high in my places to eat

There was 26 family members at village inn last night our food was lovely not a complaint the 2 girls that were serving us were absolutely lovely well done to them we were let down by another place just booked day b4 not a problem to them well done village inn

Hearing staff swear behind bar and leaving a customer in charge wasn't very customer satisfactory.

We came as a last minute booking on Sunday gone. As a couple of us hadn't seen each other in ages. We never knew this pub was there! However we were seated and amdnhad three courses. Firstly the pub is lovely welcome feel and the staff can't do enough for you! They were lovely and had great customer service! The food was beautiful! Fresh and not shy on potions for what you pay for a Sunday lunch! Our friend is now in a wheelchair and has great access for those that need it. We will 100% be back!

Pizza's were good, the rest of the food was terrible. Vegetarian Sunday lunch consisted of roast potatoes and a slice of parsnip cooked in beef dripping, Yorkshire pudding, also cooked in beef dripping with a side plate of boiled carrots and boiled cabbage. I was given the choice of beef gravy or none. The Cajun Spiced Vegetable Wraps (with Tomato Salsa, Sour Cream Dressing, Salad Garnish and Chips) was actually a pot of leftover vegetables (peas, carrots, cabbage and peppers) in gravy with a hit of chili sauce, no tomato salsa, no sour cream dressing, no salad and a pile of chips cooked in beef dripping, there were three tortilla wraps too. The chairs in the pub were stained and sticky and the tables needed a good scrub. The restaurant looked nice though. The worst thing was watching one of the kitchen staff wipe his hands and face on a tea towel and then use the same cloth to wipe a plate before plating up. Avoid if possible.

We used the Pizza takeaway service a couple of times and the Pizza's were absolutely stunning. Stonebaked and plenty of your chosen toppings, which were all very fresh. This prompted us to try their resteraunt food. We decided on a Sunday lunch, we sat in the bar area as we had our dogs with us and we were politely informed that they were not allowwed in the main resteraunt area (fair enough). The table looked as though it had not been cleaned in a decade. My daughter cleaned it off with some baby wipes we had in the dog bag and three of them were almost black. We had already purchased drinks at the bar and taken them to our table with us. The young woman from behind the bar bought us over the Sunday lunch menu. We chose our starters; Creamy garlic mushrooms with a side salad (Garlic mushrooms were in fact in a tart, not many mushrooms and not really much in the way of garlic! Salad was limp and consisted of lettuce and a piece of tomato!). Prawn cocktail (a reasonable percentage of the prawns were still frozen! Salad...same story!). Pate and crusty bread with chutney (Pate was ok. Crusty bread was three slices of a demi-baguette toasted(very hard). Chutney was insipid and tasted of not much at all!. We had approximately a 15 min wait between starter and main. We asked for a vegetarian sunday lunch and was asked if we would like beef or chicken gravy??? Then we orded a chicken roast and a steak pie ( you didn't get an option with the veg, chips and microwaved, watery mashed swede!) Vegetarian meal was a total tragedy. Concrete mashed potato, sloppy microwaved swede. Roast potatoes cooked in either beef dripping or goose fat and one small piece of parsnip cooked in the same! And a training football sized, rock hard yorshire pudding, that had also been cooked in animal fat! Chicken roast. Rubber chicken, I am sure it would have bounced if we had tried! Concrete mash, microwaved sloppy swede. The obligatory animal fat roasted parsnip and roast potatoes. Not forgetting the rock hard Yorkshire pudding that was about the size of a training football. There were vegetables to be shared between these two meals....'A selection of fresh vegetables'. The cabbage was boiled to within an inch of its life and the carrots were dried out in the middle, that was the entire vegetable selection! The steak pie was served with chips and sloppy microwaved swede. The chips were ok, but well over cooked. Swede awful, no flavour. The steak pie...wasn't exactly a pie, it was a dish of (actually quite nice tender stewed steak with a rich beef gravy) with a puff pastry top. The puff pastry top was nearly 3 inches deep and hard as a bullet, you just needed to look at it and it exploded. Plusses:- - Staff are friendly and helpful - Prices would be reasonable if the food was any good!! - The location of the pub itself - Great Pizza! - The resteraunt area is bright and inviting Minuses:- - Had to teach the bar staff how to pull a Guiness properly! - Most of the food is awful - There are on average three different sports being shown at the same time in the bar area, making it very noisy. - The non-restaraunt (pub area) seating and area doesn't look as though it has had a decent deep clean since the banning of smoking in pubs! - The pub area is quite dark and dingy. - Last food orders are taken at 18:50 (ten to 7pm!)!!!!

I ordered a lamb roast dinner and unfortunately the lamb was not edible. In fact it was so poor I wouldn’t give it to my dogs. I rang the pub to complain and the manager wasn’t bothered whatsoever. Said it was the first complaint he had, as if I must be wrong. This isn’t surprising as his tone inside the restaurant is not friendly and welcoming.

Visited on Saturday afternoon, food was disgraceful.3 tables in, staff disinterested. Ordered the veg stir fry.... it had cooked carrots, peas and boiled potatoes in it as if the chef had dumped left over veg in it. The rice tasted stale, chips OK. Husband had pepper chicken, clearly frozen chicken strips. Shockingly bad. Used to be a nice place. Will be avoiding from now on.

having been to this pub last year for meals through the week, we decided 4 of us Booked in for Sunday lunch 1.30 Arrived at 1.20 Shown to our table front of pub. We got our drinks at bar then waited to order Waitress took our order / after taking orders from group who came in after us. The said group received their meals approx 5/10 minutes later. We waited until nearly 2pm then asked where our meals were Returning from kitchen and speaking to the Waitress who had originally taken our order , She returned to apologise & say there had been a mix_up with our order??? We finally got our lunch approx 2.15. The pork was terrible, fatty and chewy Even the couple who sat opposite us said same. We did mention this and were given 2 desserts. The Waitress who took our order never came to apologise for the mistake. Service was terrible

We booked for Sunday lunch and it did not disappoint. Succulent roast beef, generous portions served with mash, roasties, Yorkshire pud and a selection of vegetables, in our party we sampled the beef, pork and roast lamb (£1) extra but well worth it, melt in the mouth delicious! Excellent value for money, definitely be returning to try the various menus on offer. Highly recommend.

We go here regularly, midweek. The food is excellent quality and well priced, especially the 2 for £16 offer and the service is quick and courteous. Sadly, on our last visit we had to witness a staff member being verbally abused by the owner's father for some perceived misdemeanor. Thoroughly unprofessional and embarrassing for all who witnessed it.

Went to the Village Inn for a quiet meal with a couple of family members. Service was excellent, food was brilliant, however, a man I presume to be the owner came in and was shouting at the staff in front of customers. He was very rude, unprofessional and it really dampened them atmosphere in the place. Another customer had spoken to the member of staff in question and asked if they wanted anything said, to which they replied they didn’t. However I wouldnt feel right if I didn’t raise the issue as it is completely unacceptable for an owner to speak to his staff in that manner.

I was made to sit on the end of the table was booked for 5 but had to sit on the end of a 4 table when there was other big table available food was not that good and had to wait for an age and been told the family going there for new yard day really looking forward to that NOT

First experience here in around 5 years, just going to mention right off the bat that service was fantastic and staff were attentive, the meal itself was great and fairly priced. The venue itself just felt stuck in between different themes, different wallpaper on every wall, no lampshades , old toilets where the urinals go into the ground etc. Then on the other hand half the room is laminate and the bar area is more modern.

We had a Sunday roast and it was beautiful, piping hot and fresh veg.

Booked in here on the 26th, as a party of 20+ we were seated on 4 tables which was fine,due to social distancing rules. We had quite a few complaints about the food quality & quantity,one was so bad it was removed from the final bill. After food was served no-one came over to see if everything was OK or if any problems with food. Having eaten here on numerous occasions & never had any problems, we felt we were served & then forgotten about. Mains poor quality & desrterts poor quantity.

22 of my family went for a birthday meal, but unfortunately, I ended up with a pretty gristle laden burger, and my brothers "roast dinner" was atrocious. It looked like it'd been put on his plate from the other side of the room with a catapult. And it was cold. Apparently it's a great place any other time, but I personally won't be returning.

I visited here for a belated Christmas work meal, on a Monday, early evening. I really enjoyed it! The service was good and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was really tasty, with big portions and great value for the money. I will definitely be going again!

Phoned and booked a day in advance. Arrived and found a very clear one way entrance with sanitizer stations. Waited at door to be seated very quickly. Ordered our food and drinks and we were not disappointed. Food was delicious and service was great. It was our first visit but not our last. Felt very safe with all covid measures in place. P.s probably the best chicken parmo I have ever had.
