Called here couple weeks ago for a breakfast & it was spot on. Was here again at weekend & my breakfast arrived a few minutes after i ordered. It was only about 9:45 yet the sausage looked & tasted as though it was yesterdays. Bacon was undercooked. There was beans sauce on side plate & gravy boat with a tinned tomato in had juice running down side. Mushrooms swimming in fat. Basically food had been chucked on a plate & clearly the food was not cooked fresh hence the quick service. Wont be returning again

As we were staying in a hotel with no breakfast included, we started our day at Cenno Café. It is located in the Market Hall in Durham Town Center and offers a large selection of food for breakfast and lunch. We had a light english breakfast ( a reduced version of the traditional one ) and a large pot of tea . Eggs were excellent and so was bacon. It's a really nice and clean place to eat in, with an overview of the market's stalls.

Brilliant service, great menu and decent prices. Staff are lovely and it's very clean. It's a great hidden gem in Durham that I didn't even know was there. Went with my disabled mam, we found the market by pure chance. In a search for food we decided to try Cafe Cenno and it's a choice I do not regret at all. We both had kids meals and they were delicious. The chips are huge and crispy and the chicken nuggets are succulent and tender. She enjoyed her cappuccino and I thoroughly enjoyed my fruit shoots which are free with the kids meals. We managed to get into the cafe ok, the lift was very helpful, and we managed to pull in with the wheelchair to sit at our table. The area was clean and it has a lovely view of the market place with a wee train set on top.

Was going for a sushi .but decided to come in here looked a bit worried outdated tables a bit sticky .cakes looked dry especially carrot cake more like it was shop bought on steroids . Got a quiche with salad and chips worrying if it's going to be ok since they had Bakewell tarts but looked like they were out of date cause they took them out the back . But quiche and chips with salad was beautiful with onion way I make mine at home nobody else does onion in quiche Lorraine so I was impressed . Little tip keep an eye on your cakes look a little dry

A safe bet for no-frills fare, in a central location above Durham's indoor market. Today, the steak, mushroom and onion sandwich got the thumbs up from my companion, though it was rather messy to eat. My cheese savoury sandwich (in brown bread) was generously filled, and the side order of chips excellent. I found a 'small' bowl of chips is still quite substantial, as the chips are the real deal. Chunky, and delicious. I feel the prices have inched up a bit since my last visit, but as costs have risen across the board this is perhaps to be expected.

I love it when indoor markets have a cafe because you can always guarantee delicious well-cooked food. This proved to be the case today when we visited the bustling Cafe Cenno in Durham Market Hall. The cafe is on a mezzanine floor so you look out across the top of the market stalls. It has a lot of seating but was very busy so we were lucky to get a table. We went in for lunch, my husband having steak pie, peas and gravy whilst I opted for the light option roast dinner with beef. The food was delicious: beef so tender with lovely gravy and the best mash you could imagine. We managed to share a Mars bar slice as all of the other cakes and desserts were enormous! Proper Yorkshire tea made the meal complete. If you are looking for good quality home cooking, well prepared and generous portions this is a must visit. It is very rare that we visit Durham but this will definitely be on our list of great places to eat.

If I could give 0 stars I would, especially for the service. Decided to try this place today, when ordering I asked for no Mushy peas with my corned beef pie and chips, my daughter asked for peas and our friend asked for a jacket potato with cheese. When our food arrived I had mushy peas on my plate, my daughter had no peas and our friend was brought a jacket potato with Tuna… they made a new jacket potato and brought out my daughter some peas, however when it came to mine they refused to do anything about it. Fair enough if it was normal peas but it wasn’t. All of the other parts of the meal were submerged in mushy peas 🤢 when I complained I was just told “there’s no corned beef pie left” didn’t offer something else for there mistake, didn’t even offer a refund, tbh she was so rude and I wish I knew her name. Will not be coming here in the future and I think you need to train your staff on hospitality and work on the communication within your workplace because the service was just shocking. I wouldn’t even treat someone like that when I’m off work, let alone when I’m at work and someone is paying for my service!!!

Great pot of tea that gave one person more than one cup, and a lovely just right strength Americano. Crockery immaculate, a big thing for me is dirty spouts! but everything spotless. Bacon cooked to perfection as were the eggs, looking around everyone else's meals looked delicious too. Great staff. Lift access also available. Great price points and value for money. Forget the rest outside come in here for a taste bud treat. Thanks Cafe Cenno see you soon x

Needed a spot to wait it out until my appointment at the passport office - found this place which is about 5 minutes walk away - seems to be lots of selection for food (I wasnt eating ) and the meals I did see folks getting were well worth the money being charged. I asked for a pot of tea for one - costing £2.50, well..... The pot was easily big enough for 4 people having 1 cup each......pleasantly surprised at the value. Service was 2nd to none, so if you find yourself in Durham for any reason, drop into the Market Vaults for a browse, lots of variety and while your there grab a bite to eat or a drink or both from Cafe Cenno

Been coming here for many years, but the standard of service has really dropped so won’t be coming again. Nearly 40 minutes to wait for beans on toast, bacon sandwich and chicken sandwich. And it wasn’t busy either. When you pay £25 for something you could make at home for under £5, you at least expect the service to be decent. The new staff seem more interested in showing each other photos on Facebook. It’s not like Durham doesn’t have a multitude of cafes to pick from, so you’d at least think they’d make an effort to retain customers.

Large que so thought it would be nice. Unfortunately we went through to the back way of getting up. Had some waitress look like I've just committed a crime! Partner had a breakfast and coke, I had a scone and coffee (flat white). Coffee was absolutely awful. I couldn't drink it. It was unbelievably disgusting. The fry up wasn't nice either. My partner left most of it. Scone was lovley but that was it. Waitress got rude as the card machine took awhile to process. Wouldn't go back. Delish coffee on one of the stalls near the entrance.

Dining room is incredibly dark - I know that's 'ambience' but when you're considering using your phone torch to see the menu, that's not great. Starter was nice (black truffle ravioli - wasn't ravioli, but did taste good) but the main meal was very disappointing. The risotto part was nice, but the cod was utterly tasteless and just a chuck of slightly cold fish. The 'sea greens' looked like enormous leaves pulled from the garden and were inedible. Lots of staff milling around not doing anything for most of the time we were there (it only got a bit busier around 8.30pm) and were incapable of splitting a bill correctly despite being told at least half a dozen times how we wanted it split. Wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return.
