Village Hotel Newcastle in North Tyneside

No hassle. Quick stop over with work. Service received overall was excellent. Arrived fairly late. Was greeted from a lovely young lady on reception who checked me in. Explained to me what was included fitness centre and times etc. Unfortunately didn’t have the time on this occasion. Also told me the bar was just about to close if I’d like a drink. Barman very nice also. Rooms not too bad. Some furniture a bit battered and bruised around the edges. More importantly the room was clean and the bed very comfortable. Had an issue with trying to pay the parking when leaving. The machine in at the entrance wouldn’t take the payment and the nexus app you need to download was also useless. However called customer service when I arrived at work. The problem was handled very professionally and quickly with the agent. Well done village hotel. Would definitely recommend.

Carpark was well kept. Up the steps to the main door/reception (never noticed if there was wheelchair access, sure there must be) the lovely lady on reception was a real hard worker, polite & couldn't do enough. (15/3/25) Rooms were lovely, clean & bed was just right. Popped down to the well stocked sports bar to wait for friends. Bar men were very friendly.Left my bag on the chair as I rushed off to my event... popped back, not expecting it to be there but the barman had noticed & put behind the bar.. all was there & intact ..yay! Jo was his name.. Stellar fella..thankyou Jo! (X) Breakfast was your usual spread.. all lovely ..fresh fruits, yoghurt, toast & cereal. Great staff, once again. Lastly, there's a full Gym & swimming pool which were immaculate & towels supplied. Swim clothes and equipment were all on sale.. Lastly.. what I did like..was if you fancy a bit of a razzle .. say Hen night or Birthday..they offer a reasonably priced 2 course meal, admittance into the disco/club.. all as long as you book a room. What a great place! No complaints from us -Thankyou so much!

Booked a club room , better to save your money and book a normal room. I was given two single beds zipped together by a double mattress topper which had a dip in the middle where the two beds were joined making it extremely uncomfortable . The noise from deliveries at the service yard during the night and staff out speaking extremely loud made it impossible to sleep as constantly being woken up (invest in sound proofing) , cooked breakfast in the morning was well inedible , got a shock off of one of the sockets in the room , heat sensor in the room kept bleeping any time the heating was put on so it was freeze or again be woken up by the noise , no one available at reception during the night , left as quick as possible in the morning . Will never be back here

Had such a good time! Great, funny, friendly and very helpful staff. The room was absolutely lovely and well worth the money. Food was quality but it is abit on the expensive side if you’re planning on staying a while. The drinks and cocktails are well worth the money for the quality. Cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going again!

I can only comment on the gym and pool at the hotel. It's free for guests, but there is a subscription for regular members. Gym is adequate, gets busy and difficult during busy hours. The pool and sauna are what make this facility worth while. Jacuzzi is always busy. 🫠

Awful place. Staff at reception are rude, opinionated and blunt. Be aware of their booking policy as they won’t budge once you part with money. As a result, I’ll never stay in a village hotel again. My main issue is that unless you consent to giving them your data (which they don’t really understand) by tapping your card they’ll refuse to give you the room. Even if you’ve already paid for it. They claim it’s because you might smash the room up and then they can apparently just charge what they like to your card? Really?? I’ll think you’ll find that’s not only immoral but it’s also illegal. Regardless, it’s a condition of entry and use which I suspect they have so I won’t be using them again. Gym, over subscribed and full of locals meaning you have to queue to access free weights and other equipment. Diverted to the pool only to find even more locals jammed in the steam room and sauna. Pool was just about usable. If you’re travelling for work or with children avoid because I can assure you won’t be getting any downtime in the spa facilities. The room walls are thin and I had someone snoring all night next door. Not the hotels fault but be advised of the build quality of the room walls thickness which is clearly very thin in parts. No hotel phone so don’t even think about phoning reception - that’s if they’re not hiding in the staff room behind the desk. Conversely, the food was actually reasonable and the bar staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. The restaurant was actually quite good. Did what it was meant to do. Clean and food was as expected. No issues at all. I believe her name was Freya but don’t quote me but she was very pleasant, smiled and very professional. These hotels give the impression of ‘cool modernism’ but in reality they’re a notch above a Travelodge double to house the homeless, vulnerable and needy of society. If you have time find somewhere else. Edit. Although the image below is of a filthy chair I have to admit the rooms generally were cleanish - I wouldn’t say amazing but just about clean.

3 star, because switch were not working. The bathroom have lot of dust. Bathroom fan was not working.

A buzzing hotel that serves the local population as a fitness centre. Lovely friendly people working there but, overall, I couldn't recommend the stay. The room walls must be made of paper. You'll hear the exercise classes coming from below and your neighbours below/beside/above walking around, snoring, having a shower, etc. There's no plug socket next to the bed. Dinner in the Bar & Grill restaurant was very average. Insanely quick service, which had us wondering if things were premade. Breakfast buffet again average. Soggy potatoes, processed scrambled eggs, plus some other warm items, boxed cereal, toast, croissant, bit of fruit. Fine If having to stay here, I'd recommend trying to get a room on the top floor. Bring ear plugs.

Our stay was nice but all I can say is if your using this hotel as a quiet getaway rethink it! We where on the first floor above the pool, we where woken up by the sound of what I think would be the music for the water Aerobics. Cleaners hovering at 8:30 at night (at least that’s what it sounded like) or could have been mistaken for someone’s hairdryer - could hear absolutely everything going on from upstairs and the corridor. Food was nice but please reconsider if you’re wanting a quiet stay. It won’t be this, and actually became so stressed because of the noise.

Always a great place to stay. The rooms are spacious with plenty of hanging space. drawers & if you need to work there is a desk with sockets & USB points. The walk in shower is lovely with complimentary toiletries. Donna in housekeeping is always helpful and ready to supply extra tea/coffee/milk if needed. Breakfast is plentiful and always hot and replenished regularly. Hannah Katy Kath and all the other girls are 100% on the ball clearing tables tidying up. Great selection of everything including all kinds of tea, yogurt, fruit, cereal, pastries, cooked items juices & water. I asked at the bar & they filled my water bottle to take away. Reception girls run an efficient and friendly front desk. Hayley was lovely as were the other girls who I didn’t get their names. Check in/check out very easy. Thank you

Great location. Central to both the coast and the city! Great rooms and service. Pool and leisure facilities are clean and well maintained. The pub and grill attached are brilliant. Food is always quick and very tasty! King of protein poke bowl is incredible!

don't really cater for women, makeup and mirror for hair dryer use, some room have limited seating. Food and wines are very expensive, Breakfast are very good great choice. Staff very friendly and supportive.

Perfectly acceptable. Room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was a bit average but to be honest, for the total price I wasn't expecting Michelin stars. Perfectly ok. Definitely stay again

Apart from the man knocking on our door at 11.30 at night and asking to use our toilet it was a very nice stay

The staff at this hotel are in the top tier of how hospitality staff should be, pleasant and very helpful. Breakfast was great as was the room. A decent overnight stay 👌

I stayed two nights with work. It has everything you need, including a food bar and football. You can use the gym and swimming pool. An old railway line next to the road is a good place to go jogging.

Food is nothing special. Ask for a change in the menu and you are ignored. Asked for gravy with my mixed grill and was refused. Drunken argument in bar was observed and not dealt with by staff. Disappointed in the attitude

Had a good 1 night stay, our room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was good with lots of choice, good location for visiting Whitley Bay and Newcastle.

If you like living in an actual night club, don't stay here. Music from the classes in the gym can be heard even from the second floor. Rooms are very dated. My heater doesn't work so I moved rooms, then two wall socket plugs don't work. Bathroom is very old and dated, and my toilet makes a horrible loud noise every 30 minutes. I can hear literally everything going on in the room next to me and if someone is in their room above me, I can hear the floor boards creaking loudly. The only good thing about this place is the convenience of a gym and a pool.

Each village hotel is very similar , helpful staff and plenty of amenities.

Rooms ok but dusty, dirty sock left from a past guest, 2 towels sets for 3 guest! very limited on plugs and not all of them could be used, beds uncomfortable and sofa bed was more than shocking, shower dripped constantly. Nice bath though. Drinks over priced and food is over priced wetherspoons food, the treadmill where you make toast is the perfect height if you are 8ft. Reception staff were ok and house keeping assisted with an issue we had within the hour. Bar staff were nice 1 girl was spot on working Friday night (didnt get her name but spoke about cider) need more like her. I done you a favour by not taking the rooms treasure box so please send the sofa to the skip it's the only place it needs to be.

Booked into here with daughter for shared mother's day treat. Loved it very clean very busy. First contact booking in . Managed to use machines for booking. Found it very busy due to abba night. We couldn't get a table until 7pm which since we arrived at 5pm we were starving. Very dissatisfied and disappointed with portions of food. We both ordered mixed grill for price expected more than what we got. Meats were minute very unfilling. Very expensive in bar/grill. Drinks we felt more ice and lemonade took taste away from actual drink. But I suppose if we visit again ice won't be added. Overall experience enjoyable but expensive for food. Not wheelchair friendly lots of steps upto main entrance. Parking free on weekend but during week parking charges apply. Ample parking. Situated on cobalt you really can't miss it. A sambuca restaurant 1/4mile up from hotel if needing a feast for less money .

A modern and thriving Hotel with Gym, pool, sauna, steam room, restaurant and American style bar with multiple large screen televisions and all the sport channels available. Rooms are comfy with a large bed, bath / shower, television and kettle. A huge positive are the staff who were friendly, professional and accommodating. They are a real asset. Restaurant offers hot and cold breakfast and a good bar menu with the food being plentiful and tasty.

Great stay, friendly staff. Double room was a good size with comfortable bed. Dinner at night was good, full English breakfast tasty. Bus stop opposite hotel, but we used Metro station which was 20min walk away, about £5.45 for adult ticket for 24hrs. Used metro to get to Newcastle, Whitley Bay etc

Very good venue for competitions

Arrived to a grand fronted Hotel. Very nice. We were allowed to drop our bags in early. Kind receptionist locked them away in secure room. Finally came to check in, retrieved our bags. Got to the room. Walked in, nice thick carpet. Room was well laid out, very tidy. I was glad to see an iron/ironing board as I had packed a small cabin suitcase. Anyway, bed was comfy, bathroom clean and TV worked. Result. Downstairs restaurant - sadly didn't use this for evening meal (went out with friends to a local restaurant) but I did come down for breakfast. Greeted by pleasant lady, checked I was okay to eat. Advised of drinks/food locations and left to it. Decent selection for hot food (scrambled eggs were suspect/wet), pastries, cereal, porridge, fruit, fruit juices. I had sausages, potato slices, egg, mushroom and beans. Very nice. Will stay here again
