Delicious food on lovely piping hot plates ~what a delight! We had chips, mushy peas, with the most delicious tasty cheese and onion pie, gravy, with a pot of tea all for 17.50 for two people. It was our 46th wedding anniversary and to be honest the best meal out we have had in ages. Generous portion and hot !

Great value! Cheerful and warm with the real fires dotted about. Without any pretention whatsoever. Basic brunch/lunch cafe. It gets very busy at weekends, but tables can be reserved. It is dog friendly and very popular with dog walkers - if you don't like dogs, this probably isn't the best place for you! If you want fancier, Great House Barn down the road will suit you, but personally, I prefer it here and not spending a fortune. Neither have fantastic toilet facilities, but they do the job.

Called in for breakfast with a friend. Was fortunate to get a free table, as a number were reserved. They have this bizarre system where, fir instance, if a table is reserved from say 12.00 midday, no one can use it before then. This restricts the ability to get a table but also doesn't make good business sense.

So where to start we booked in for a 11am afternoon tea. Was confirmed by them. So we arrive around 10.45am let them know we are here by name they tell us we have a table. We sit down thinking they will come over. 15 mins nothing so we go to counter ask for our drinks with the afternoon tea. They have no idea what we talking about said they only do it from 12pm. So they say OK Won't be long. They came out with the food on our tiny table. We had 1 quarters of 3 sandwiches each. (Where did the last quarter go) 3 little triangles each. 2 scones 3 slices of cake. 2 small pasties cut into 3. Not enough for the price we paid. Looking around the place is dirty. The numbers on the table was covered in food. Table covers sticky and crockery seen better days. We paid 35.90 for 2 adults and a child. For not even a full sandwich each. Did call and pointed out we had been over charged was told a refund would be done in the evening never arrived. Won't use again better afternoon teas around for price..

A busy tea room in a converted church in Rivington. I've been coming here for years and it's one of the best places for value for money. We had a delicious vegetarian breakfast of; 2 veggie sausages, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, fried bread, 2 fried eggs, 2 slices of toast & butter and a cup of tea or coffee all for £6.50. Lots of seating inside and some outside for nice sunny day's. A favourite stop for cyclists and walkers. Also allows dog's inside. Local artists work on display inside. Oh I must also mention the wonderful homemade cakes, delicious with a cup of tea or coffee.

A little gem of a place in Rivington. A converted church into tea room with plenty of seating inside and outside. A great stop off place for cyclists who can leave your bike round the side whilst you enjoy sitting in the sun. Lots of homemade cakes and simple cafe type food ie. Toast, tea cakes, beans, eggs and even a full vegetarian breakfast for just £6.50.

Have visited a few times and can honestly see why this has been voted the best tearooms in the north west. The location is beautiful with plenty of walking trails to do on the doorstep. The tea rooms itself has plenty of seating both indoors and out and is decorated beautifully giving a very warm, homely feel to it. The staff are just lovely, can tell this is a family run business. The food is amazing! Whether its a bacon butty or a big slice of cake you fancy. The sticky toffee with custard is to die for. Everything homemade and cooked to order. Tea and coffee are good quality. The tearooms are also dog friendly and well behaved dogs are allowed inside the tearooms, perfect if you've had a nice walk with your pooch and fancy a hot drink for you and a bowl of water for them. Cannot recommend this place highly enough, just wonderful and long may they continue to serve the people of Bolton ❤️🌟❤️

Called in today to find the place teaming with dogs. I know it is dog friendly, but I don't think it is fair to expect people to eat their food/drink in what is basically a large kennel. Wet smelly dogs should be kept outside. Today the people on the opposite table placed café crockery on the floor to let their dogs lick the plates clean! This isn't unusual. Why can't it be more people friendly than dog friendly?

05/08/23 Visited with family. 6 Adults. When we arrived we found a table straight away. It was busy to be fair, when we ordered food we ordered and then after we paid said oh it’s a 30 minute wait for food. Maybe if we were told before we paid we may of changed our mind. So anyway we were now committed to wait. We actually saw other tables that ordered after us receive their food before us (before 30 minutes) We waited almost 50 minutes for our food. (Bacon / Sausage barms only) When the elderly gentleman waiter brought our food his manner was appalling. He proceeded to moan and complain that he was on his 11th day working in a row. (I’m not sure why we needed to know this information!) Quite frankly we wanted to eat and go at this point. 50 minutes waiting, rude staff, average sandwich. Disappointed first visit, won’t rush back. More staff clearly needed on the weekends!

Had my first visit here this morning and was very happy with the whole experience. We had a full English and the veggie version and both thoroughly enjoyed the food. The full plate arrived quicker than expected and had been properly warmed through which meant the eggs didn't go cold quickly, like they can. There was fried bread, which I wasn't sure I would eat, but it was great. Perfectly done and not too greasy. I had a mug of orange juice instead of the tea/coffee which was a generous amount. And all that for £13 for us both! Looking forward to going again. Thank you.

On a wet Bank Holiday Monday feeling bored we remembered an advert abut this little café. Venturing into the damp wet Lancashire countryside we found the venue and parked tentatively outside, ensuring the restricted width of the lane was sufficient. It was. We entered the room to be confronted by a mini Crufts, but all good natured. Finding a seat further inside we were impressed by the menu and the busy service from the staff. Not a frown or sulk at all and all were pleasant and polite. We ordered a pot of tea for two, before I chose the minced beef and onion pie with chips (when in Lancashire etc...) while my wife has a quiche and salad. Both meals arrived within 10/15 minutes which considering the activity of being a busy café, was fantastic. The hall is a throw back to its former religious purpose but there is loads of potential to tastefully and in context revamp certain aspects, the main one being the outside loo which on a rainy April day, was rather cold. Still, needs must!. I have no quibbles about recommended this café to others. It is fantastic.
