A converted church hall, traditional English cafe food ie. bacon/ sausage barm cakes, full English breakfast, veggie breakfast, jacket potatoes, beans on toast etc etc. But they do fantastic homemade cakes. Dogs are allowed inside. Some seating outside for sunny days.

Visited 05/05/2025, visible from road at side facing the building, however if you approach from of parish building entrance you cannot see until you walk around to the back of the building (left path is best) luckily we saw some people and asked as the sign at the front says to go around side but your but sure as it looks like just a closed church type building with cemetery at front. Once around the side to the tea room there is plenty of outdoor seating was available, we went inside saw a lady at till and she said recommend grab a table first and then come to order and luckily table 9 near to the log fire was free (the majority of inside tables were taken as the tea room was very busy throughout our visit) and managed to squeeze out party of 7 by adding a free adjacent chair from another table (thank you to the lovely senior couple who said it was ok to do so as they didn’t need it). The toilets are outside to side of building and there is only one for women and men so when I visited there was three people waiting so I’d say if this is a consideration get this out of the way so not waiting too long. The ice cream was lovely and tasted more home made than commercial, would recommend. The majority of the order which was drinks came quickly, due to how busy the tea room the dessert pudding with custard ordered had to be chased as others who arrived after were getting their whole hit orders before, when one of the group enquired unfortunately the till member of staff was quite snappy /dismissive stating we told you would take time due to busy, however this considered the tone/delivery left the member of our group dissatisfied after all else was good, hence the one star drop. Still recommend visiting but be conscious of potential factors above when visiting ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

7 of us and a dog visited the tea rooms after our Easter walk up to the pike. We decided to sit outside as it was a nice day and were quickly handed menus and told that the children could search for Easter treats hidden around outside. The kids loved the Easter hunt and both won an Easter egg. We ordered a variety from the menu from full breakfasts, to pies and sandwiches and every meal was perfect and arrived quickly. The staff were very friendly and there was a tub of doggy treats available on the counter and some fresh water outside will definitely call again on our next adventure 😊

Just posted photos of the new menu and prices. Still the best quality at the best prices by miles. This tea room is fantastic. Great atmosphere in there and 2 woodburners make it warm and comfy after a cold wet walk. The food is excellent too with a good choice. They’ve spent a lot of money on the Bowling Green tea room a short distance away but not letting dogs inside rules that out for us, as well as many others I know. You can’t go wrong feasting here. Very dog friendly too.

Lovely friendly cafe with homemade food and fabulous cakes. Called for lunch on Sunday. Didn't book but managed to get a table. Suggest booking as others had and it does get busy around midday. Lovely homemade cheese and onion pie. Cakes looked amazing but too full to try... Will have to visit again. Toilets are outside across the yard. Not a problem but seemed to need a code to access. Tried to visit as we were leaving and couldn't be bothered to go back in to ask. Maybe include the code on the menu?? Overall relaxing visit.

Love this place! It can get really busy, so sometimes just have to get a coffee to go and a look at the little artisan stalls inside selling a lovely range of gifts. Not had food here, just the odd slice of cake which was delicious 🥰. Dogs are allowed. Toilets are outside and a little cold and primitive, but serve their purpose.

Superb find. Was looking for a nice place to take my wife for afternoon tea as it was our anniversary. With a well deserved top rated place we chose the village tea room. First a lovely setting. I found out at the counter that afternoon tea should be booked in advance. With quality people serving they quickly agreed that they could make up a slight variation with the items that were available. Beautifully presented The HAM hock and pea soup was delicious and yes I shouted HAM as there was so much in. The variation was a very tasty pasty Again, full of meat and with great tasting gravy. The sandwiches were your usual compliment cheese, ham and tuna. Our scones were lovely and the cakes so sweet and delicious. Top marks all round

The Village Green Tea Room in Rivington is such a lovely spot! With plenty of tables and chairs both inside and outside, it's the perfect place to relax, especially on a sunny day. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, greeting you with a smile, and the atmosphere has a warm, inviting feel. It's also dog-friendly, so there are always adorable pups around to pet. In the winter, you can cozy up by the real fire, adding to the charm. I love that they display beautiful artwork for sale by local artists, making every visit a bit of a gallery experience. The food is reasonably priced, and their homemade cheese and onion pie is absolutely delicious—one of my all-time favorites!

Very disappointing visit on Sunday. The "cooked" breakfast was awful, items either burnt or very undercooked. The tea room has been our go to place on our visits to the area for a couple of years now but recently there has been a decline in the quality of the food. We are really sad about this. It seems like they are more focused on quantity rather than quality. 😪

At my age I am not really a walker up Rivington Pike, I live 30 miles away, but after a recommendation from my cousin last week we went on a jollie and tried out the Tea Rooms today. We loved it, set in an old school house next to a very old chapel with graveyard. We both had the Full English, what great value and a pot of tea for two included. the staff on the till were so friendly to have a chat about the location and surrounding areas. Would we go again, why not, we loved it. My only slight opinion and I would not call it a negative, are the sausages just need a small upgrade, even if it means a slight price increase. If I could, I would give you 6 out of 5 stars.

Nice little place that does live music at the weekend and a huge selection of ciders, spirits etc. The seating / arrangement in this place does let it down. The stage takes up a large amount of space and the quirky, though lovely, back room set up again just maybe isn't the best arrangement to cater for more people. They let way too many people in the place last night to the point people were scrambling over each other to get to somewhere to stand but there just wasnt anywhere. A little concerning for fire safety.

The staff are kind, smile, friendly and social. The food in general good, burger was very crispy (a little too crunchy) but came with a good portion of chips with normal salt, salad and coleslaw. Only chicken is halal and obviously seafood.
