We really like Wheelton tearooms. Friendly service simple favourites on the menu. The food is always fresh and lovely.

Absolutely love the mushroom soup at this place, it’s amazing, goes nicely with a sandwich. Would love some plain crisps with my sandwich.

I had the most amazing afternoon tea! Served in a beautiful basket! I have food intolerances (dairy and wheat), my children just looked at my basket and said they were jealous! This never happens. Thank you so much for giving me a basket that matches the same level as my partner. No food envy here !

This is a lovely tearoom and the food is fresh home cooked. It's well worth a visit. The staff are so accommodating and friendly.

We were told that our dog (spaniel) was too big, and we'd have to sit outside or order takeaway. It was too cold to sit outside and expensive for takeaway toasties, so a little disappointed, to say the least, especially as there were plenty of available tables. There was already a French bulldog inside, so I'd suggest making it clear that you're a Tearoom that's only friendly towards very small dogs!...fair enough that you have a notice on your window but isn't much help for those visiting for the first time on foot and with limited other options. Just include the information on your Google description so others don't have a wasted trip.

Hidden gem in Wheelton. Staff were brilliant and food was excellent. Great to see a good specials board. Seating was excellent and nice to see plenty of customers. Some great gifts for sale in the shop

We love coming here. Child friendly and great selection of cakes :) it makes a great stop off when doing the circular canal walk.

my self and my wife and our two really well behaved small clean dogs visited this cafe on sunday afternoon, we both felt like were tiptoeing on eggshells as we were approached immediately by the owner and told not, asked to keep the dogs under the table is this place dog friendly or not? so unless you are unfortunate not to have any legs this order makes the whole experience a bit ridiculous, with regards to the food i think if the cafe has more than five in they tend to rush and forget attention to detail resulting in poor quality food and presentation , the cappucino was tasteless and almost warm milk , I asked for a replacement and was given exactly the same and a rude look for complaining ,I think the owner doesn't actually want customers but just wants their well earned money, the experience was awful , I sympathise with the young staff whom I cant fault but needless to say I dont see myself giving this place another visit.

My first visit after walking near the canal. This is a lovely local tearoom with good menu choice and pleasant staff. I had three potato cakes with melted cheese and ham with a small salad which was excellent and very good value. But this was surpassed by the best slice of Victoria sponge I have had in years, so moist,light and very tasty. Well worth a visit

I booked here for my wife's birthday. She's an afternoon tea fanatic but never actually been here so it was a nice surprise for her. Service was excellent, made room for our big booking and did such a great job for us. Would absolutely recommend, and come back for sure!!!!

Excellent little tea room. Booking ahead is advised. Had a sweet chili chicken wrap, and Bakewell tart. The sandwiches are pretty big and it's very reasonably priced!

Dropped in for a late lunch last Saturday, met with a friendly welcome, great choice of lite-bites, sandwiches and cakes. We had ro add t beef and chicken sandwiches served on bread of your choice with side salad and crisps along with nice a cuppa. Look forward to popping back .

I visited today with my partner who lives in Whittle Le Woods. The food was excellent and the surroundings make it a brilliant relaxed dining experience. This will be a regular place we be eating from now on. Made my day.

Nice little tearoom that sells great coffee and usually tasty cakes. On this recent visit however the carrot cake was under done, but this is not usually the case.

The food, the service, the location - all impeccable. My husband and I had afternoon tea for our anniversary and it was fantastic. The brownies were our favourite. Scones spot on, carrot cake delicious, shot of tomato soup, mini sandwiches and quiche were the perfect savoury treats. The price was superb for how much we ate and the excellent quality of all the food. Service is outstanding - everyone is completely on it and friendly. We highly recommend the cafetière of the Brasilia coffee - rich and strong. We really can't recommend this place enough and might avoid doing that just so we can always grab a table. P.S the ham and cheese potato cakes are beyond delicious.

We visit here a lot, as a couple, as a family, with friends or sometimes on our own - we’ve never been let down. Prices are spot on, food is of a high quality and everything is served fresh and hot. Personal favourite of ours are the poached eggs with beans, on white bloomer and the potato cakes with ham and cheese melt, or sometimes the homemade porridge - delicious! Tea & Coffee are also great, and served in various different ways depending on your taste. Confused by some of the negative reviews on here, for instance, calling out the lack of condiments on the tables and there being individual sachets of salt, and rude staff (owner & servers) - having individual salt sachets available is not an issue as they’re always accessible and you don’t have to ask for them, or ask for more if you need it, and as for the owner, of the staff being rude; i’ve yet to come across any behaviour like that at the tea room… Martyn, Jackie and the whole team, thank you for your hard work and efforts in making the village tearoom a great, value for money and local spot for breakfast and lunch!

First time visiting the Village Tearoom and we enjoyed our visit. We parked up the road and it looked busy inside but there was plenty of room upstairs when we entered. The staff were really helpful and the service was quick. It's a good menu and I opted for the potato cakes with cheese and ham melt and my wife had the golden vegetable soup. We tried their carrot cake afterwards and had cappuccinos - all of which were really good. Worth the trip from Preston👍.

This was my 1st visit. I met a friend for lunch. I chose homemade cheese/onion pie & baked beans. It was delicious! I also bought some blackcurrant jam and a bakewell pie to take home for my Mum. It is a lovely hidden tea shop with excellent food and staff. I will be returning and highly recommend a visit.

Had a lovely latte sat outside with our greyhound. Small dogs are welcome, but he does take a lot of room up. Coffee really nice.

Booked for a small family group. Our table was upstairs in a lovely light room with plenty of space. We all had afternoon teas which was amazing, being served in individual picnic baskets with a shot of soup. The price was reasonable and everything was clean.

Very disappointed with eggs Benedict ordered by three of our group. All eggs had hard yolks when the joy is cutting into a runny yolk. Also not hot, hard toast cold. No condiments on table and when requested, waitress gave us one sachet of salt. As kitchen is upstairs we could not see if food freshly prepared or in a Bain Marie. Coffee lukewarm. Quirky little Cafe.

Very limited space book to be safe. Only ordered apple crumble and custard and didn't like it. Wasn't any crumble and also had cinnamon in which I don't like. Coffee not hot and not very nice.

Even cream and jam didn't help nearly snapped the knife trying to cut it then it fell to bits like sand. Truly disgusting Then the biscuit I bought for my daughter was over baked and rock hard. Very disappointed and won't be back. Cost nearly £40 for 3 people.

What a fabulous little tea room, lovely food, lovely staff, great value and quick service. Quirky items for sale, paintings, jewellery, locally produced jams and chutneys. Definitely will come back. I did wonder about the 2 bad reviews - one from what appears to be a very entitled Macunian, who in 115 reviews gave noone above a 2, and a lady who had been refused entry with her big "well behaved dog".I totally agree with the owner, a smaller well behaved dog is fine, but big dogs are very obtrusive , particularly in a small cafe, and actually are more offputting to the dozen or so other customers it would affect than the one customer who feels she is being victimised. So on analysis, good reviews all fully justified, two bad reviews can be completely discounted.

Came here as a table of 10 for a baby shower and couldn’t fault it. We got afternoon tea which came out in great presentation, every element was delicious. The staff were all friendly and attentive and they even did us some lovely pink icing on the cakes for the baby girl! The venue is lovely with so many cute things for sale. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

Hi We had afternoon tea. All 5 stars as service was exceptional the food/drink was amazing. My family enjoyed it. The 1st time I had visited and I would go back. Highly recommended. The tearoom is really nice and with the view of the clock tower. Why don't you try it like me and I am sure you will enjoy. Oh a the staff are young they were very hospitable and pleasant.

Absolutely lovely! From start to finish, the staff were lovely and friendly. The food was fresh, well presented and delicious. Even better we went on a Sunday, after a brisk walk to The Singing Ringing Tree and were delighted the place was open. Super friendly, good value, we will 100% go back. A brilliant little find.

Visited today for a surprise birthday party for my sister. Greeted very nicely and directed to the upper floor where the 15 of us were served afternoon tea, certainly a quirky way to deliver it and very tasty. Everything was fresh and the cakes were amazing which I believe are all baked by the owner. Martin and Jackie were delightful and even came to sit with us to chat, they went above and beyond to make my sisters day special and I can’t thank them enough for there hospitality. Even though it’s a 25 mile drive we will certainly be returning!

Wanted to like it but was disappointed Tuna sandwich had tasteless mozzarella cheese and came on white bread when ordered brown. Egg on toast.. eggs were hard> Chicken sandwich better.

Met with two friends and we all had lunch... soup and sandwich. Cream of Mushroom soup was very salty and not as expected Tuna Sandwich - ordered brown bread, got white... cheese was tasteless mozzarella. (found it difficult to eat) Chicken sandwich was better Egg on toast- eggs were all hard and dry. Coffee was good. ...but we won't be eating there again

A lovely place to stop of on your summer or winter walks down the Liverpool & Leeds canel. The owner is a miserable chap but the coffee & cake is 👌.

Firstly, I hate leaving a negative review, especially about a local business that we have visited often. Secondly, one half of the partnership Jackie, is wonderfully friendly (I've been coming here since I was pregnant with my first son), her food is delicious and her customer service are excellent. In comparison, Martin was once again rude to me - I was meeting my husband and son for an after-school well-done treat. We were told our dog was too big to be allowed to be seated inside - I believe the policy is well-behaved dogs are allowed in. The absolute joke is that myself and the dog have been in many times. There was no allowance made, I said this and she was well-behaved (I'm not the sort of person who would take a dog anywhere) but was told firmly, we could not come in and sit with my family and were made to leave. I'm really sorry to say (as a fellow business owner) this is not customer service at any level - to make no allowances and to split a family event up. If dogs are not allowed please say that. Its not the first time we have received bad customer service here and I have always refrained from reviewing this but I'm afraid this was one time too many.

2nd visit here, and it ticked all the boxes, very friendly staff - yummy breakfast and lovely atmosphere. Don't forget to take a couple of slices of cake home. 😋

We enjoyed the food and service. Toilets were not easily accessible, we felt stairway was suitable for those less able.

Food was lovely although the man who works there I think the manager had a right cob on him, must not have had his horlicks the night before. Could do with smiling.

The best afternoon tea I've ever had! Every bite was delicious from start to finish. The staff were fantastic and very accommodating with our last minute sandwich change request. I can't wait to go back and sample the rest of the menu 😋

Lovely tea room, managed to fit us in even though we hadn't booked. Had a brew and a scone which was lovely. For three drinks and three cakes the price was good as well. We will visit again to try lunch as the table next us was ordering their choices and it sounded very good.

Haven't been for a while, but have visited 3 or 4 times in the past, always been good. Met up with my brother and his wife today and the food and service is still excellent. Three of us had the soup and sandwich, my brother the meat and potato pie, with drinks then a cake each. Everything spot on, highly recommended.

We visited for my mum’s birthday and were happy to find that it was a lovely tearooms with a gorgeous afternoon tea with a large variety of homemade cakes. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the food was delicious, we will definitely be back.

Had a lovely lunch at Wheelton tea rooms. I would advise though if you are visiting it to book ahead. Two of us went at lunch on a Thursday afternoon and all the tables were booked. Sat at a small coffee table.

We regularly walk down to the Village Tea room for tea and cakes. The meals are also wonderful especially the soups. Our grandchildren really enjoyed tucking into beans on toast or egg on toast good wholesale food, served by really nice people in a welcoming...

Nice snacks etc, and a lovely cross section of special locally supplied foods. Parking can be difficult, better to park around the corner.

Lovely place to visit, the tea room has the most delicious choice of food all cooked by the chef/owner. They offer a very tasty menu to cater for all allergies, just let them know in advance and they should be able to accommodate your needs....

Super little find in the sleepy village of wheelton near Chorley.Called today on a typical grey November afternoon.Bright lights and welcoming staff somewhat lifted the spirits.Fresh homemade cakes and shortbreads beckoned to you from their protective covering. A pot of loose leaf tea with as many top ups as you needed was willingly offered.A simple order from an extensive menu, Quality all round.A gem.

We discussed with Jackie an afternoon tea party for my wife's 80th birthday and 12 relatives. She was very accommodating and very flexible with seating arrangements, food and drink. The presentation on the day was excellent and the quality of the food could not have been better. It is unusual to enjoy the taste of homemade food and the quality of food we received. The staff were brilliant. They were friendly and efficient even to the point of taking photographs to record our special occasion. The afternoon proved to be well above our expectations. The amount of food meant that most us were going home with carry bags. Our thanks for the home made Victoria sponge birthday cake with candles and large balloon which now adorns our kitchen. This was our first visit and certainly not the last. Mike

Popped in on our Satdy ride. Highly recommend this Cafe. Welcomed with swift friendly service. No problem serving 15 cyclists on a Saturday afternoon. Most of us opted for sandwiches and a brew, Excellent, clean, facilities. Not sure how they'd see things if we was wet and muddy. But not a problem today.

Visited on a Sunday a few weeks ago with a friend. We had booked to have afternoon tea, 1 of which was vegetarian. We were seated upstairs next to the window and were quickly offered any drink from the menu to accompany our afternoon tea (surcharge for alcohol). Drinks quickly arrived and so did our afternoon tea. Presented in a small picnic basket with a cup of soup on the side. Everything was delicious. My cream of mushroom soup was to die for and has definitely got to be the best soup I’ve ever had. Sandwiches and quiche were also great and the cakes and scone were fabulous. We were that full we had to take some cake home with us! Lovely afternoon and staff were very friendly, attentive and polite. Can’t wait to visit again!

Visited to use a gift voucher for Afternoon Tea and was delighted at the fare on offer. This was truly a small village tearoom very traditionallly kitted our with a warm wrap around feeling. A table had been reserved and a friendly staff member showed us to it and explained what was on offer. There was an extensive hot and cold drinks menu and a choice of soup between Broccoli and Stilton or Golden Veg. Chose the former and the small but more than adequate starter was delicious. The food was served in a cute little basket holding 3 different sandwiches, a slice of quiche and a collection of cakes including a scone with butter, jam and clotted cream as well as a shortbread biscuit. The presentation was excellent and as we were unable to finish the whole offering, bags were offered for us to take remaining cakes home. All this for £12.50pp. On the normal menu there was a good variety of dishes as well as a board showing the soup of the day, pie of the day and dessert. Everything was very reasonably priced and I envied a customer tucking into a full bowl of that beautiful Broccoli and Stilton soup. It was interesting to note that the food contents were locally sourced. Another visit is on the cards - and very soon!

We visited The Village tearoom today as a group of 5. We had booked for afternoon tea. Beautiful as always with great attention to detail.I have an allergy and they had sourced a substitute for me which was delicious. The staff are great, the tearoom is very well run and a great place to catch up with friends.
