Village Farm Cafe in Bridgend

The service was so prompt, staff are great, food was absolutely delicious. Hard to find a good cafe, it’s the only place for us now. Food was perfect and the prices are so fare compared to other local cafes. Mansel has done a great job and his hard work is giving us a great service. Thank you 👍 Neil T

Don't know why trip adviser main comments a 5 years old ???? it's changes hands twice since then and is now the best it's ever been it's the only place I get my breakfast.

Ordered 2 breakfast rolls to take away which stood on the counter a good five minutes before I was told they were ready, black pudding was solid on one side where it had been overdone, tiny rasher of bacon and was very dry, overpriced for what it is, will not visit again.

Excellent service. Food is always outstanding. Owner is a great character. If you don't know her you may get offended but it's not intended. Iv'e worked on the estate for many years and she has never ever let down myself or my colleagues. I will continue to eat from there. Big shout out to her and the staff. Keep up the good works.

Jesus where do I start , how this woman is in business is beyond me , a disgrace to the food industry and hospitality industry . The attitude and down right front of the woman on how she speaks and treats the customers is nothing short of shocking . All the staff that work there seemed scared of her . Avoid and save you’re money from this shambles of a business

The cafe was mostly empty so we decided to sit in the conservatory area where we could see our bikes ( We had cycled) On finding a table we began to sit.... when suddenly a booming voice came from a woman who was sat at another table eating. She walked towards us telling us very loudly "Not to sit, as the table needed cleaning" .... Covid etc It was embarrassing, being yelled at infront of other cafe customers..Oh! She actually works/owns the cafe. Yes. in fairness we had moved a cup or two to use a table. But her customer service/communication skills need a lot of improvement! She went on to complain that her breakfast was now cold and would need throwing away. NOT a welcoming visit. The cups that our coffees arrived in where awful.....stained and the glaze scuffed off...... The only plus to this visit was that our meal was cheap and the coffee was hot.

Called in today after not being in since last year. The breakfast was amazing, all freshly cooked. Sheila is still as entertaining as ever.

My mother in law wanted to go somewhere for a family meal for her 80th and wanted to go to village farm cafe. Sheila and her staff were brilliant. She made everyone welcome and went above and beyond to make it a special day for my mother in law. everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and all had a good laugh. I can't thank sheila and her staff enough. X

I've been eating here with my children (and as they've all grown up now, they all eat here too with their friends) for over 17 yrs. The food is wonderfull,you will not find a better breakfast anywhere & believe me i've tried. Shelia is a delightful lady, kind,considerate and always with a smile on her face. The front of house chefs treat every plate they serve like Michelin Staff ! .... The curry - Wow ! .... The Sunday Lunch - a feast! ... Its a working mans/ladies cafe .... BUT .... Bloody lovely !

Owner is a vile woman. Went for lunch with my sister, my and 2 year old niece. Whilst there my niece started crying and screaming so the owner original told her to be quiet. Later when she continued to cry she came over and shouted at her to shut up. Absolutely disgusting behaviour!

Saves yourself time and money and do not go there with family especially small children. The owner told my 19 month old nephew to shut up, disgusting woman. Will never come back again.

This woman is an absolute disgrace. First time visiting with a friend and I brought my 1 year old child with me who was well behaved throughout the meal but towards the end when he was getting fed up he screamed. Instead of ignoring it like a normal person working in customer service should do, she shouted out in front of the whole cafe - “Jesus Christ stick a dummy in it will you, I hate screaming kids.” As if that wasn’t embarrassing enough for me, she then continued to slag us off to her coworkers loud enough so that I could still hear for the next 5 minutes or so. We decided it was time to leave because it was a horrendous atmosphere with everyone looking etc, my child unfortunately screamed again to which she started shouting and came over to us. Took his dummy out and stuck a piece of toast into his mouth. Then she said “There you go now for gods sake shut up”. Absolutely disgusting and downright abhorrent behaviour, will never be visiting again as it’s really upset me and my anxiety is through the roof about taking him anywhere again after this incident. Don’t understand how she’s still in business after seeing lots of similar comments to mine. Horrendous experience and will be advising everyone I know not to go there.

Brilliant family run cafe, have been visiting it for the great breakfasts for the last 25 years, always good and friendly service, around 30 tables of 4 and it can get pretty busy at 10am on weekdays but you never have to wait long to get served as the owner runs the place very efficiantly and takes a no-nonsense approach to taking your order and getting your food served. Having read some other comments about the place I suggest if you are an easily offended snowflake then this might not be the best breakfast experience for you but for the other 95% of folk it is fab and great value and better quality than anywhere else anywhere near JCN37 M4

Been coming here weekly for over 10 years. I go to a lot of cafes etc due to my job. This is by far the finest and has been consistently so since it opened. I see so many cafes come and go due to bad management, cost cutting etc. But not this place. The fact that some people can have a problem with Sheila (the owner) baffles me. She's a gem, anyone who doesn't get that needs to take a good look in the mirror.

when i get time i travel a 30 mile round trip for the dinners. the gravy, roasties,cabbage and stuffing are as mam used to make. on top of that you get free entertainment with the lady serving you. ive read the bad reviews and suggest they go to a beefeater and pay double for portion controled plastic food with no banter.

It's a works cafe food plenty but a little fatty no slimming options some are the staff are a little rude

No greasy spoon here! the cooked breakfasts and Sunday lunches are excellent, so much so we go there regularly.

Wow, never been here before but on a visit home the old man took me out for Sunday breakfast. Three options, small, medium and large. Decided on the large as it was not expensive and only a pound more than the medium.I didn't manage to finish all of it. Neither did I need to eat anything for Lunch or Dinner!Ingredients are also good quality.The owner is a character which adds fun to the place. It was also very clean.Will be taking the misses next time we are down.

Would recommend the cafe to anyone, the owner and staff are very hard working people who do their best to please, food is great too with generous portions, the cafe is clean and roomy too. If we're in the area we make a point of going there either before or after visiting Porthcawl nearby, it makes the trip complete, and if you fancy a proper cooked Sunday dinner you would be hard pressed to find better for the price ! this place has everything a good cafe should have, and more !

An amazing breakfast,the poached eggs were exceptional. Manageress is a character and always happy to help. Service is quick,prices very reasonable and portions are generous. Will definitely return

Ok so this is my second review this time it’s for Sunday lunch.

They do an all day breakfast consisting of three sizes.

Booked here for their Special Xmas Dinner last Sunday. These events have to booked in advance which is advertised in the Restaurant a few weeks prior. If you are looking for value for money, you won't beat this. Started with a nice home made soup which was delicious followed by a freshly cooked turkey with stuffing and fresh carrots, cabbage, new potatoes, peas as much as you could eat. This was followed by choice of afters, I had Xmas pudding which was excellent followed by a choice of coffee or tea with buscuits. I know it is advertised as The Village Farm Cafe but the establishment was decorated beautifully for the Xmas party with special attention to the kids with Father Xmas visiting and also a live Karaoke entertainment.

Visited again Monday as we were hungry. Had the corned beef pastie and chips with gravy. Must say very tasty as usual as we would expect here. Nice and hot and a lovely clean cafe . Good choice of food and the usual cooked breakfast seemed to be selling well with the local workmen. Efficiently run by Sheila who is an asset. See you again.

First visit here I was a little taken back when ordering and certainly an experience I’m not use to I felt slightly intimidated when placing my order due to the barrage of questions and the loud voice.

Arrived here for breakfast. Parking was great, loads of room, big and spacious. Staff were very friendly and the service was very quick. We came here as a family of 5 and we all enjoyed our breakfast. Everything cooked perfectly. Very reasonable prices, breakfast comes with free tea/coffee until 11am. Great!

the cafe food and prices are brilliant, people on here slagging the customer service and the owner, get a life, they are straight to the point clearly if you are offended by them, you have issues yourself as the saying goes " if the cap fits !!!"

I have been to this place many of times over the years and only had one bad experience . Funnily enough it was when the owner was away , the place was like a sinking ship and the staff seamed like they had a real sense of panic . This sabotaged the whole experience with bad quality and service . However today’s visit with my brother was quite possibly one of the best breakfasts I’ve had . There was good banter with the team and the owner , food was piping hot and fresh . To be fair it wasn’t as busy as what I’ve normally witnessed , this establishment ticks all the boxes for me especially after today’s visit .

Disgusting customer treatment. Chef was massively racist completely unwarranted. This place is a disgrace to allow such behaviour to go on completely unchecked. They have caused so much offence. Cant believe this sort of treatment can still go on!

I treated my son to a cooked breakfast and he enjoyed it that much he even had half of mine. The service is straight to the point, no mess no hassle. It’s always packed and a little noisy. But what do you expect being in an industrial estate. Love Shirley! Some say she is rude. But meh, she’s just a character that you get used to after a few visits. Food was warm and tasty.

The food was not the best and it was cooked previously sat in heat containers. The customer service was poor and I’m sure he was looking for a hair in one of the breakfast.

Lovely breakfast as usual. Doesn't taste or look greasy and is always served hot. Price is good too you cannot go wrong with a breakfast here

The owner needs to get some manners the she speaks to people is appalling won’t be going there again

Came here for Sunday Lunch today as its been quite a while since we last visited, wow, it was even better, wonderful beef, tender and thinly sliced, lovely yorkie pud, home made stuffing, crispy roasties, lovely soft boiled potatoes, peas, beautiful boiled cabbage, boiled carrots and horseradish sauce, followed by a fantastic coconut and jam sponge with custard, simply fabulous, and accompanied by the wonderful tones of Sheila, a wonderful host, yes she may be loud, but she is a fabulous caring host who runs a great cafe along with her brilliant staff. Don't take notice of the people on here dissing her, take her as she is and enjoy the wonderful food she produces

I called here with my son for a Sunday dinner about 2 months ago. I had a turkey dinner with roast, peas, carrots and the cabbage simply lush, with gravy and all. Was absolutely delicious, like home cooking. Have called here several times after for Sunday dinner and everytime a WINNER. Staff nice and friendly and no 'maldod' from the boss !!

I visited the village farm cafe for a breakfast with my work colleagues and I can honestly say that the breakfast was excellent,I ordered a big breakfast and it consisted of 2 bacon,2 sausages,2 eggs,hash brown,black pudding,mushrooms,beans and tomatoes,fried bread and toast and it cost £5.45.......I can recommend this cafe for a nice breakfast and I will definitely be returning

We always have a lovely meal at the Village Farm Cafe and it is great value for money. The owner ,Sheila , is always good entertainment. Make sure you mind your language and put your chair back under the table lol!

I often use this cafe when I'm working in the area, the food is has generous portions and is usually fresh and hot - BUT the main issue I have when i visit is a woman that continues

I have used this Cafe frequently in the past but haven't managed to get here for a while.

It does what it says on the tin , there's no frills but it fills you up. Could do with cooking the bacon in less oil.

Been going here for breakfast while working for a long time. food is always cooked the same and presented the same. Very good quality at a reasonable price. The owner is a bit of a character who works hard to ensure customer satisfaction. Sunday dinners are also very good too!

We come here for Sunday Lunch quite often, the cafe has recently been extended and now offers a nice conservatory to eat in. Lunch is normally a choice of three meats (beef, turkey or pork) and is served with all the trimmings and a generous gravy jug. There is also a choice of home made desserts including raspberry pavlova, trifle and the most delicious creme brûlée. You never leave hungry, Sheila is amazing, even though the is very busy during service, she always finds the time to come to the table to ask if everything is OK and whether you want any more veg or gravy. Looking forward to visiting again very soon.

Cracking breakfast served here! Quick service and it was really busy. Great prices. The lads & myself popped in to have breakfast rolls to line our stomachs for journey ahead of us on my mates stag weekend away. And would definitely come back & highly recommend it!!

I have been here a few times, I would give it a 3* at its best, the woman who works there is very very rude and cocky to put it fair all she does is shouts, I have stopped going there for her cocky remarks, the food is okay nothing great though but it's okay for breakfasts I suppose better off going else where after suffering listening to the lady behind the counter shouting at her staff what to do.... Enough of me moaning now :)

Well no matter if it's an All day breakfast or a Sunday Dinner this is a great place n the lady front of house is a Diamond. Lovely lovely lady. The food is great and well priced so thumbs up

With no doubt this is the best genuine Great British cafe i have been in my life - the breakfasts are consistently amazingly good and the prices are fantastic - easily the best breakfast in south wales - prehaps all of Britain.

We go here often as a family and receive fantastic service and excellent food.

This is the fawlty towers of cafes, the owner is possibly the rudest woman in Wales, very very loud monotone voice she didn't shut up for the 3/4 hour we were there. I felt sorry for the staff they all looked so frightened of her. The food was basic and bland nothing special. Still its worth a visit just to see her its so funny my girlfriend couldn't stop laughing.

Last time we went was about 2 weeks ago was not has good has it use to be food was alright but a little to budget one of the staff a little rude and not helpful sorry it use to be A1

Always a warm and friendly welcome from Sheila and all the staff. Have been going back and fore here for years, fab value for money, large portions, perfect service. Great prices. What more can you ask for. Everything from breakfasts to burgers to pies to Sunday lunches and desserts. Eat in or take out!!! Love this place.

Been here many times for their fantastic full English all day breakfast. They do all sizes to suit all appetites. Their cooked lunches are lovely also. Today we had two cooked dinners, a tea and a coffee for £11.40! Fantastic value and extremely tasty.

Spotless. Quick. Relaxed. Entertaining. If you want silver service don't go but if you want a well cooked breakfast with no frills don't drive past.

Beautiful lunch today. Steak, chips , peas, egg, onion rings, Bread and butter plus tea. This was one of more than ten choices of meals, all home cooked and delicious. Well done staff. So many regulars so much to chat about

village farm café is a great place for dining. it serves a lovely cooked breakfast. it also serves a very nice chip butty, no butter. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area. RIP G

Its good grub well presented at a very good price. The surroundings are - well a trading estate. but the food is clean - no greasy spoon this, - well cooked, not pre cooked, but freshly cooked to your specification. We have used this place for years and we keep going back.

Called in for breakfast yesterday morning on way to Cardiff. My son had raved about this place for a number of years and loved the owner who has always made him feel welcome. The food was outstanding and having stayed in many top restaurants would forgo breakfasts in these places to go here again. The food was excellent as was the price and amount of food presented. We were 5 in total 3 men and 2 women the men had large appetites and my great nephew had difficulty in getting through the size of the meal. The owner was fab - if you want posh and quiet then don't go there. If you want cleanliness, good home cooked food served hot and without fuss then its the place you have to go to. The only bit of sadness was that I wanted more customers to come into the cafe as each time a customer came in the owner was a star and passed comment (positive) - we just wanted more and more customers to come in for the entertainment value - saying that for a Sunday morning it was overflowing and as one set of customers were leaving more were arriving. I'd hate to think how busy they are in the week. Apparently last week between 12-2 pm they served over 150 two course Sunday lunches, they do evening meals as well. surely all these people recognise good food when they taste it. Brad sorry or Bret the son was equally entertaining (thanks for the lovely food).

We popped in here for a bite to eat having been advised by friends, well I can say I will definitely be back. A good welcome from the owner who clearly gets how to keep people happy. Large and well cooked breakfast which was good value indeed. To top it off had a mouth watering ice cream with strawberries and baileys. Clean premises and efficient

Wow! Lovely food, plenty of it, great price and great staff. The lady who runs it was friendly, funny and couldn't have been more helpful. What a great character. The place runs like clockwork, service was fast and efficient. Breakfast was huge and tasty, followed by a "Shiela Surprise" ice cream! Fresh strawberries, ice cream, cream and Baileys!! Gorgeous! Will definitely be returning soon.

Been calling in for breakfast's for a while but more recently called in for Sunday lunch, found it consistently good, value for money and well prepared. Service is quick , staff polite and eager to make sure you have everything you need.

Popped in for lunch today had a medium breakfast and really enjoyed. Place was full but we were served quickly. Lady that takes your order I very welcoming and bit I a character. I was in a group of six men and had no complaints at all. Will be going there each lunchtime for the next week.

This is set in an industrial estate. They do breakfasts and roast dinners and sometimes curries. Although a limited menu the portions are excellent. The lady that serves you is really welcoming although a little loud. We have been here several times for breakfast and Sunday lunch and have always been made very welcome.
