Villa Dino in Newport

Fantastic! Used to come here a lot but not been for years…. Well I’ve wasted my time elsewhere! Great family place , friendly atmosphere and food looked amazing and tasted better. Family run for over 40years but being sold due to retirement, however they won’t close until it’s sold so fill your boots and get the best while you can. Fantastic 👏🏻👏🏻

Went to villa dino for my wife's 50th birthday with our daughter.first time I've been there and I've lived here all my life 48 years.well what can I say first class lovely meal definitely go back again before it closes or changes owner.wish id been there before now. Chris bate.

Took my wife and family back there for a birthday meal for my wife, I chose villa Dino as it has great memories for us, we went there a lot when we were courting 30plus years ago. We found it a bit disappointing, no atmosphere and the food was ok but not fantastic as I remember, pity!

Very friendly staff from the moment I arrived. Lovely food, very tasty and great value.

The food was lovely but choice on menu limited as was wine choice.

Having booked a table for New Years Eve, what a disappointment. One starter was Garlic Mushrooms, this was what you would expect on a greasy spoons breakfast, boiled with a hint of nothing. One main was a medium rare steak that was so well cooked, it was cremated. Two excuses, one being the chef got two tickets mixed up and we got the wrong one and the second being, it was pink when left the kitchen, and the waitress even referred to it being so as she gave some to her dog !!! Really ruined our evening, and this this climate, surely such a restaurant with the prices it charges should try harder. Would never ever go back or recommend

Great food and staff the problem is the damp musty smell as returned.

Came here for a surprise birthday dinner last night and the food was good

Would highly recommend, delicious food, lovely surroundings and very friendly attentive staff.

Visited last night as a party of 4 and had such a great time. Lovely to sit on comfy sofas while enjoying a drink and perusing the menu. Then shown to our table when the starters were ready, so we could enjoy some fantastic food. 3 of our party had mussels to begin and all thoroughly enjoyed. 2 of our party then had fillet steaks and the others had chicken - all in different sauces - and everything was cooked to perfection. We also all loved the veg accompaniments and the sautéed potatoes. The dessert options sounded lovely too but we were too full to try them - hopefully next time! Just couldn’t fault the food, drinks or service - it was all brilliant. Haven’t visited Villa Dino for a long time but we’ll be back as soon as possible. Thank you staff and Chef for a great evening and look forward to seeing you again soon!

We ordered white bate which were deep fried and over done and garlic mushrooms which looked like tinned mushrooms with very little garlic The main course we both had steak which was nice but nothing special I think they should put some new items on menu as it has not changed in 20 years

Nice relaxed atmosphere. Customer service good, but not wow. Told to sit near the bar whilst we ordered drinks and our food, before being taken to our table. Not sure why as it was pretty quiet. Garlic mushrooms to start was lovely. Would have been better if it was served with toasted bruschetta. Ordered garlic bread with mozzarella as a side which was divine. Main course was pretty bland. Desert ok. Would I go back again? Probably not.

Lovely family restaurant, great food and service.

We visited tonight with our two children, it was really well organised snd all social distance measures etc in place. There was a really lovely atmosphere in the restaurant that was only outdone by the beautiful food. The tiramisu was the nicest I’ve ever had. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.

First evening out since the first lockdown. We chose the right place to eat. Over the years we have eaten at villa Dino many times. Food and atmosphere has always been excellent. However, Dino and Tracy have made the covid restrictions brilliant. The food and atmosphere is still as fantastic as pre-covid!! All covid plans in place. Definitely 2 metres apart, sanitizer as soon as you go in and masks worn. All staff wore masks throughout the evening. We were on a settee pre- meal on our own and then shown to our table. Following our meal we had time to sit, relax and chat to Tracy and Dino. As always they both had time for their guests. Thank you both so much. Booked the place for a birthday dinner for 7.30. Since it was a two hour slo, we had to be out by 9.30. Unfortunately, we had to wait for 20 minutes to be seated, despite arriving on time. They were missing: - my first choice of wine; - my first choice of main; - my first choice of dessert. I reckon that if you don’t have something, you need to tell customers right away, and not five minutes after they’ve ordered, which is what happened to us. I’m quite happy with the food itself, and the atmosphere was nice, perfectly compliant with regulations. But there are places with better service.

Fist time back here since lockdown. Restaurant was completely refurbished during lockdown. Looks superb - beautifully and tastefully done. Food and service excellent as usual. Lovely evening, all safety procedures following strictly and we felt completely safe and well looked after Great to be back.

Went here yesterday, it has been totally renovated and looked amazing. All the guidelines were met for everyone's safety. Haven't been for a while but it didn't disappoint. The food was amazing,I had a steak and it was cooked perfectly, melted in the mouth and the sauce was delicious. Couldn't fault anything, we didn't feel rushed, lovely atmosphere, friendly staff. Would highly recommend a visit

Had a gorgeous family meal here last night. The food was as beautiful as ever, the newly decorated restaurant looks great and Dino and family / staff are so friendly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and we already can’t wait to go again.

We visited twice in August 2020 and have booked for a 3rd visit as we were so blown away by the whole experience! I wish we had discovered this lovely restaurant sooner! The restaurant retains a fabulous ambiance despite all the Covid restrictions and the staff and owners are so attentive and friendly. It is so nice to see the owners, Dino and Tracy, mingling and welcoming each customer as well as getting stuck in with taking the orders. This hands on approach helps to maintain that personal touch and you know that you will be well looked after. The food is really authentic and absolutely delicious, cooked fresh with generous helpings of vegetables. The desserts are homemade and are out of this world! We cannot wait for our next visit! This will definitely be our “go-to” place for all future special occasions!

This is our first time back at this restaurant since lockdown has been eased..And what a wonderful return it was for us..We did book a table in advance. On arrival that sincere warm and friendly greeting is still there..You sit in a lovely and asked if you wish to have a drink..?Then as you read there, you are given the menu to read over...So many great choices..Once your oder is taken, you stay in the cosy area by the bar or in a snug room nearby until you starters are ready to eat..We had mussels, different types of steaks and deserts,and absolutely everything was not only well presented but tasted so good..This is fine dining and hospitality and another level..Very professional staff and they genuinely care about you as the customer..Would 100% dine here again and again...Our sincere thanks too this establishment for again making our evening out so relaxing and enjoyable...

Have passed this place many times and thought it looked worth visiting. Tonight was the night. We had a booking for 8pm and were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately it was not to be. Walking in, the first thing to hit you is the smell, and it isn't the food. The smell is dirty, musty and old. The decor is the second thing to hit you. This place looks like it has not changed its spots since the late 70’s early 80’s at least. There are old photographs on the wall, old sofas in the bar area, a twenty year old TV hanging in the corner, filthy carpets and the general ambience is that of a 1980’s Blackpool hotel. Next up, the menus. By the look of them, printed 30 years ago and probably haven't changed in that time. Then we were told to take a seat and wait for our table. We were bang on time for our booking at 8 pm, but we were made to wait for half an hour on one of the awful sofas. That was when we were handed the menus and the manager took our order before we had even been shown to a table. During this wait, we realised, based on what we had experienced so far, that this place was not going to be up to much. If you can’t at least make the effort to make your place even appear to be good or smell good, what hope is there that the food will be? Not much. Alarm bells were ringing so we decided that rather than play Russian roulette with our cash, we would pay for our drinks, politely cancel the booking and move on elsewhere. Then the real attitude came out when the obviously annoyed manager said to us ‘It’s not McDonalds you know.’ Well thank you sir, with that one snide remark, you completely justified our decision to leave, proving to us that we were absolutely right to do so and that you were not worthy of our custom. As for McDonalds, your place isn’t that good. Needless to say, we won’t be back. Gordon Ramsay would have a field day in this place!

A Quaint family run business in an awful area of Newport. A pleasant enough reception. Old worn seats to sit & wait until the table was ready after being given the menu to peruse. Taken to be seated within approx 15mins. A nice atmosphere all around. Seats in dining area are very worn; even broken backs to snag clothing on & lighting cables to get caught up in with your feet/clutch bag! Waiting Staff are very pleasant & work very well together throughout the evening. The starter's were disappointing in portion sizes (deception of perception is really not good practice). Calamari in a creamy white wine sauce was very cheesy.. after eating the FEW squid rings (approx 5/6 rings) I was still chewing the cheese in the sauce! My partner had the whitebait (not even 1/2 a handful of fish in the dish; balancing on top of some chopped lettuce to make the dish look FULL! The fillet stuffed steak was tasty but very salty. At least this restaurant uses proper butter in its cooking. The vegetables were nicely cooked & the desserts we had were lovely. A shame that I/we didn't take photos but another customer took photos of their dish so ... A very expensive tasty experience. (Shame about the starter sizes/prices all round).

My boyfriend, his mother and I had a meal here on Friday and I must say it's the best meal I've ever had. I'd never been here before but heard good things so thought we would try it and it definitely didn't disappoint! Where can you go that you don't need a steak knife to eat a steak, it just teared away. The service was excellent with very friendly staff and we loved the family photos that you can see as soon as you walk in. This is now by far my new favorite restaurant

Great Italian restaurant that is easily passed by . Very good food consistently and reasonable prices . Easy to get to and with a large car park next door. Definitely worth a visit !!

I visited with my two daughters-in-law and we had a lovely evening. The restaurant was very comfortable and the food was excellent. Our main courses of steak diane took me right back to the 1970's and it was cooked to perfection. The choice on all three courses would suit all tastes. The service was very efficient and the staff friendly.

Possibly the best locally owned Italian restaurant in South Wales? Been there many times and the food has always been top notch. Pretty good value for money considering what the other Italian 'chains' are charging!

We held a celebration of life for my mother here. It had been her favorite restaurant in Newport. We were a party of 46 and the kitchen and staff performed flawlessly. If you want to host a large private luncheon, this is the place to choose. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the food was enjoyed by all.

I visited Villa Dinos for a family/friends hen meal, I have been a few times before and as previously cannot fault the service, staff and food. Excellent food and a great family vibe.

We have visited Villa Dino many times. Last night (21st June 2018) we visited as a couple for our 15th wedding anniversary.

Our first visit to this Restaurant for my husband and I and we can't wait to return. All of our food was cooked to perfection, and tasted delicious. Visited with 6 friends for a get-together. Another excellent meal! We all ordered different starters and mains and everyone commented how much they enjoyed their meals. Again, I had steak cooked exactly as requested, tasty and tender. Love the friendly welcome and ambience, and excellent service. Very good value for money too, and the early bird menu offers excellent value but still great food of equal quality to the main menu.

Outstanding meal once again steak cooked to perfection staff were really friendly and were made you feel welcome all night long . Just love going to this place and come highly recommend it all times .

Excellent as usual all the starters came for everyone at the same time as did the mains.All cooked as were asked for.Attentive staff & the owner took are orders even though one was off menu he sorted it out.We were early birds,was heaving when we left..always a good sign.Highly recommended.

Visited with 2 friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed the exquisite food and excellent service. My steak was cooked "well done" exactly as requested but remained juicy and tender. No steak knife required! Excellent value for money too as reasonably priced. I also love the relaxed ambience and comfortable surroundings. Plenty of space between tables so you don't feel cramped. Well worth a visit.

Called in by off chance and had not booked,was shown a table and given the menu.trawled the menu and was spoiled by choice all looked and sounded delicious a little pricey but you get what you pay for.The staff were all friendly and a nice...
