Viet Shack - Arndale in Manchester

Been coming here for years! I recommend the quack fries, they're so good every time. Every time I'm in Manchester or in the arndale I come here for it.

I went to Viet Shack in Arndale today for lunch an had the Shack fries. Omg that was delicious. Chicken was perfect, steak spot on medium rare as asked, fries super tasty and all with right amount of spice. Perfect dish. It was a pleasure to eat. I really recommend

It gets very popular so there is often a queue and the gritty ambience of the Arndale market has a select charm but the food is amazing and must be experienced. Nobody should go for fast food chains with food available like this.

Great vibe great food excellent service

i love viet shack so much! one of THE best lunch spots in town, i have never been disappointed by anything on the menu!! any variation of their loaded fries (quack, shack, crack) are all incredible and i crave them constantly!!!! the banh mi, burgers, and salads are all top quality too, all with fresh ingredients.

Female staff wearing glasses are not friendly.

Bahn mi was lovely and so were the fries. Never normally try here because it's the only place in the market that doesn't take card payment. It's 2023 who uses cash anymore. Until you get a card machine I'll just carry on going to the competition.

This place is incredible! Tiny spot in the food market that produces the most fantastic, delicious, food. Great team of people too. Go now!

The staff here are very friendly and amazing cooks. I had the surf and turf noodles and enjoyed every bite. There were a lot of different flavours that I could taste separately. I don't remember the last time I ate something so delicious. 100% recommend.

Please try it , it’s amazing , I got the BBQ duck with rice and the service is great.

Rather disappointed with my visit here. Staff were good and attentive and decor was lovely, but the food was very average - I had spring rolls which were served with plain noodles and a rather sad side salad. Didn’t feel it was worth the money and not somewhere I’d recommend really.

Foods good but this place is defo used to launder money. Only able to pay by cash for months now because they can’t get access to internet whilst all the stalls around them can. Sus.

Very decent shack fries with steak. The bahn mi was just okay but not a patch on the fries, hence 4* instead of 5 *

I get lunch from Viet Shack regularly as it’s fresh and tasty. The lady that takes the orders is warm and welcoming. Recommended What we love: Tasty food that is reasonably priced in comparison to places around in Arndale Food recommendations: BBQ meats with rice. Both the quack and shack fries are very nice What could be improved: Prawn portions on meals that come with it When I order less popular dishes, they didn’t come with everything that was advertised. For example, the prawn and chicken slaw was missing mango, and fresh herbs (coriander & mint) which left me disappointed

My son and family took me here for a birthday meal and I absolutely loved it. How I should eat all the time . I had the Buddha bowl with several side dishes which were a meal in themselves. Staff conscience and kind , food arrived quickly - I'll be visiting very often.

Food is excellent. The pork crack bahn mi and (any of) the fries are incredible. Highly recommend. Staff are always friendly as well.

The busiest place in the Arndale for a good reason - whilst busy, the staff get people served fast. Wouldn't deviate from here when in MCR - shack fries or quack fries are the go to.. Don't sleep on this place!!

Food was cold, steak was chewy & had approx 1.5 prawns per box. Awful quality

Some chicken pieces looked undercooked, received a water bottle that had some food residue on the label. Wasn’t too happy overall.

Horrible. First and last time I order from here. See pictures for “expectation vs reality”. The so called “Viet fries with secret 7 spice seasoning” didn’t even have salt. Not sure what the other 6 were supposed to be; a very well kept secret. The beef was dry and tasteless.

Delicious, cheap and filling food. Saw the queue so I knew it was good. Some stuff sold out by 12.30 already but ordered lemongrass burger and beef bahn mi. Totally worth it for 2 of us and both was really tasty

SO GOOD. Vegan AND meaty foods, fresh veg and salads, superb flavours and even better pricing! Their duck and dirty fries are the bomb! Always a queue and served with a smile.

Forgot half our order. The meat in the items we did receive was overcooked and fatty. Definitely not as good as the Viet Shack restaurant in Ancoats.

It's good, but quite overpriced I think. I ordered the Shack fries, basically fries topped with some pieces of marinated chicken and steak, with some sauce and mayo squeezed on top and some sliced chilli as a garnish. It was a decent portion and tasted good, but not particularly memorable. The fries were £7 but I wasn't told the spicy sauce was extra, so with a small bottle of water I was a bit surprised at being charged £8.50! Not going to be a regular lunch at that cost! Compared to other better value options in the Arndale, I'll say it's good, nothing wrong with it, but I am not in a rush to go back.

Quack fries is the best. Regular portion for £6.50 is already looking huge.

I have been to Viet Shack in the Arndale Market many a times, I have tried many different things on their menu and they are all delicious especially the Viet Mack as I'm a massive burger fan. The prices are reasonable and there is seating nearby usually available in the market, the service is really quick and they use wonderful seasonings on their fries making them some of the best fries I've tried. The only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is because of after the lunch time rush they usually run out of certain items which can be slightly annoying but other than that it's a perfect place to eat.

Overhyped. Apparently, they make their own soy sauce and bake baguette but we all know they buy all the ingredients in Aldi.

Fantastic food and cocktails, beautifully presented, in lovely casual setting.

I loved everything I ate and I would eat this food everyday if I could. The service was exceptional.

They don't take bookings but you can turn up and jot your name down to come back later. Recommend going to the general store round the corner to grab a drink for down by the canal while you wait. when you come back for your table you're in for a treat, it's some of the best Vietnamese food on this island. great portion sizes, good price and friendly staff. £60 between two will get you drinks and enough delicious food that you'll be asking for a box to take the leftovers home in. A must go if you're in the area.

If your vegan, just dont go. Its over hyped and tasteless. I would rather have had a random NQ take away. Service was fine. Although not asking why a customer has left 90% of there main says alot. Tasteless is the only way i can describe this place. For the cost i should have gone elsewhere!

It's very economic and sure does taste good

The mama tofu bowl was sticky, spicy, sweet, tasty, crispy, fresh etc. Made me laugh his question to me 'are you vegetarian?' 'yes' 'is chilli and lime sauce made with fish OK?' haha made me laugh. The fact he asked though was cool.

Wow! What an amazing little place this is in the Armadale. The food is next level and cooked fresh in front of you. Prices at ace for about £5 to £7.50 for a really good portion of food. I went for the Pork Crack and Noodles, this was delicious and I chose to have it spicy. This seems to be the most popular in the food market and I know why. Well worth a visit!!!

Really nice food and friendly service

Had this saved for a while on my Google maps account. Without realising I ended up grabbing a quick bite from there. I got the shack fries which were awesome: beef, chicken, BBQ, chilli, fries and spring onion. Great mix of flavours, just right, she to say these guys know what they're doing!

Really nice tasty food - with huge portions! We definitely over-ordered, but everything was delicious. Would be good to see a few more veggie options.

Tasty and different Vietnamese food, friendly staff. On the negative side, rather cramped seating on stools - no where to put your coat. Mid-priced.

This was one of the best meals I've ever had. The whole experience from start to finish was a delight. The place was packed but we didn't have to wait too long and we were shown to our table which was in front of the kitchen. You could see the chefs beavering away, creating the food. Our waitress was fabulous. Very friendly and service was prompt. I chose the Quack Burger from the extensive menu and my lad had Fo Chay with broccoli and spring roll side dishes. I didn't want the meal to end. The flavours and tastes were stunning. Decent portions too.

I'll be back it was delicious and value for money xx

"Quack burger". Spicy crispy duck burger - very tasty and good value. Will no doubt return for future lunches.

I would give the pho 3 stars - I felt the flavour was lacking in the depth and spiciness that I usually like in pho, it was a lightly fragrant flavour. The sides and the rolls I would give 5 stars! Very tasty.

Friendly staff, cooking area visible and looked clean. Always a good start! I ordered the quack burger which was Crispy duck with mango slaw and pickled veg on a brioche bun. Was asked if I wanted it spicy or not which was very much appreciated as I always feel silly asking for food to be made not spicy. I did expect a bigger burger, felt it was a bit stingy, but oh my god, it was the best burger I've ever eaten. The duck was beautiful and crispy, the sauce and salad was really flavourful, and the brioche was really fresh. Highly recommend. Will definitely come here again.

Although they have a vegan option, they don’t sell to vegans because they don’t have a separate place to prep/cook.

IN the heart of manch ester arndale indoor market. This tiny little shack does a lot of business. Which is a sign of good food. The fries are to die for. The Viet burger is filling and tasteful. If you try this place you will not be disappointed.

Amazing food, I recommend the pho & summer rolls

Looked good but lacked any flavour or sauce. Ordered surf and turf noodles (hot) but was just watery noodles topped with a few half prawns and beef and and a bit of veg. Did not taste of much. Very dissapointed.

I go there every week. Perfect market food. Very reasonably priced for what you get. I would recommend with no doubts.

We found this place online as we looked around for good places to eat in Manchester. I was particularly focused on finding good street food. We ordered two burgers and some fries (which I cannot remember the specific names for any of them) and we devoured them. There was so much food involved in that order that we must have barely finished it. We wanted to try a cooler as well, but they were all out! It sounded like it would've been the perfect drink to go with this food. The food was great and there's something really cool about ordering from a little stall in a giant place like the Arndale.

Great place for Vietnamese fast food at a reasonable price. All food is made fresh and can see it while you wait. Served in take out boxes, so convenient. The staff are friendly and engaging. Only downside is this gets very busy during the lunch hours, so can get crowds in such a small area.

The beef banh mi I had here was delicious which came with a nice, crisp baguette roll and flavourful well cooked beef.

Don't order chips, they are Aldi ones and fried on the same oil as the fish, so they taste fishy

Starving and trolling around to find this new place in arndale market nice food and nice staff will definitely recommend to others. Look like it's always busy there so will recommend off peak time

I found a screw at the bottom of my 'Surf N Turf' noodles. Horrified!! I hope this is the first time this has happened to a customer eating from here but who knows?
