Fountain House in Manchester

Came in with a friend for a birthday celebration last Saturday, great atmosphere. Alex C was lovely and the panzella was spot on

Great food with fantastic flavours. Panzanella had a rainbow medley of tomatoes with a really tasty burella. It was missing a bit more texture/bread, however very filling. Kimchi tempura was inventive and unusual. Again, really good flavours with coconut yoghurt a good compliment. Steaks were cooked to perfection (minor but would've preferred steak knives). Berry crumble was perfect with a crunchy flaked almond topping.

The food was delicious! As a hungry tourist with big taste, this place hit the spot. Alex and Shaw were also amazing, they were very hospitable and provided great service.

Visiting Manchester, found the website for your pub. We haven't been before but will definitely visit again. Staff were friendly and helpful, the food was delicious. Alicia was lovely and look after us.

Had a great 3 course Sunday roast. Every course was amazing. I’d never been here or even heard of this place before but will deffo be recommending to mates. A particular highlight was our server Alex C, he took great care of us and was great.

Decent food good service great location bit pricey but was for 3 courses on Mother’s Day would go again and check out the a la carte or a norysunday dinner

Last minute change of plans meant we booked at short-notice but the staff were welcoming, attentive and service was delivered with a smile. Alex C ran through any limitations to the menu and advised us of alternatives where necessary. The Sunday roast options were delicious and came with generous helpings of gravy. We opted for the Lamb and the meat fell apart beautifully. I was indecisive about dessert but Alex helped choose between the options and it all paired lovely together.

I ordered fish and chips and a scotch egg. The fish and chips were huge and the Scotch eggs were the best I had on my trip to England. The store staff was very responsive and I was very satisfied.

The pub was closing a short while after I turned up, so it's hard to gauge what it's like on a normal busy evening. That said, the staff were very friendly and efficient and it does look like a very nice place. There was one family playing games, and they seemed to be having a great time.. As usual, I haven't rated the food as I didn't eat here.

Everything is very rich. It is a family friendly pub. But the kitchen closes early +/- 10 pm. They have board games for children at the entrance. We tried to return on Saturday night but the kitchen was already closed.

Took my friends to Fountain House by Manchester Town Hall for Sunday roast. 10/10. They were reluctant, but ultimately won over. Food is excellent, with lots of choice, and good price for city centre. Service is spot on and the restaurant is beautiful, although the bottom floor is closed Jan/Feb.

Food and Service were faultless. I was a bit worried because it was so quiet but really good fish n chips

Had our Christmas party here. Food and service were absolutely fantastic. Will definitely be back for a date night in the future!

Nice little cosy pub/bar. It was busy and a friendly atmosphere they had a quiz night on and a lovely looking restaurant downstairs.

I really wanted to enjoy our friends Christmas meal at the Fountain House but we were all quite disappointed. We all had roast dinners including 2 vegan roasts and all of us found the food either really flavourless or over salty particularly the gravy. The menu states that the Yorkshire pudding is omitted for the vegan roast which is fair enough so I asked could I have a few extra roast potatoes instead as it was a smaller meal for the same price. I was told no as they're all allocated! We were left waiting for nearly 30 minutes for desert menus and when pots of tea and deserts arrived the teas came with hot frothy milk. Finally the bill came with 12.5% service charge too. We omitted that and added what we thought was due. A real shame because the location and building is stunning but a real disappointment all round.

The food surpassed my expectations. The wait staff has been very good too.

Late afternoon meal was really good, steaks were cooked to perfection, staff were friendly, I did complain about a bad pint, but the staff were pleasant about it & gave me a fresh one, Not much atmosphere as it was very early, expect the bar to be great in the evening,, Cheers

Only stopped here for a drink and never been before. Loved it the moment you step in this pub, which gives you a hug. Really nice atmosphere, and the drinks are great quality. Service was fab. Definitely going back next week to try the food.

Fantastic venue. Great central location in the middle of Manchester. Professional and friendly staff. Delicious food. Attended a wedding reception which ran beautifully and made for a fantastic night. They even support lots of live music too!

Amazing service! Requested we sit downstairs rather than upstairs to which our server, Ella, let us know that nobody was seated downstairs but we could either way. While downstairs, Ella waited the whole time to serve us food and ask if we would like any drinks with a friendly smile. Our food was amazing and came in massive portions. We had the sea bass, duck egg, chicken Kiev, fish and chips and chicken wings which were equally delicious. Couldn’t recommend more and will definitely be a regular spot for us 🙂

Came here for a quick dine and omg! This place is a hidden gem. The food was absolutely incredible and the service was amazing. I had a seabass which was perfectly cooked and tasty My girlfriend had a flat iron steak and she loved it The server Imogen, was very friendly and the manager was polite and even recommended us the sticky toffee pudding. Which I gotta say is the best I’ve had to this day! Will definitely visit again. Only thing was the live band upstairs, which during the day is nice and atmospheric but not when I’m trying to eat a meal and have a conversation. Neverless 5 stars !!

One of the best Sunday lunches in a long time! Roast Porchetta was perfectly cooked & would recommend the cauliflower cheese side! Nice pub atmosphere in the centre of town, will come again!

Stag and his team were welcoming and helpful. We had a delicious dinner with live music in a classy pub. The atmosphere was just what we were looking for on a Friday night and we highly recommend The Fountain House to our Aussie friends visiting Manchester!

Decent place to get a drink after work. Nice building, bit stuffy inside on a summer day, but that can't be helped.

Excellent food, best vegetarian roast in Manchester. Alex was an attentive host, the asking of additional cream for the mushroom soup was no problem (no charge also). Small cauliflower cheese. Needs more cauliflower and more cheese, though wonderful taste. Bread always needs butter. Maybe an oversight. Go, great service and lovely building

The best Sunday roast, Yorkies were lovely and crispy, lovely rich gravy , the beef and veg were really tasty. The service was fantastic from both the bar and table servers. Jasper was our server and he was 5 ⭐

The food was really nice, well put together and nicely presented. Definitely better than your average pub food. Ingredients tasted fresh and portions were really good. A nice selection of drinks, cocktails and mocktails. The staff were attentive and very polite. The only downside was the music selection, which wasnt particularly good and a little too loud for a Saturday afternoon and a small number of people dining at the time. Overall it was a good visit, thank you.

We have recently just come across the fountain house. What can we say! The Sunday dinners are amazing! The fish and chips was perfect too! Our server ella is an absolute credit to the fountain house. Very welcoming, very helpful, always has a smile on her face. nothing has been to much for her on our visits! See you again next week! X

i tried The Fish and chips meal , it was really outstanding. the local beer ( Ladger ) was having very amazing rich of taste. And many thanks to ALEX S, he was cheerful, keen on customer satisfaction and I enjoyed talking to him.

Wedding reception,followed by very upmarket international performer's, went on till late

Sat outside as it was a warm night watching all the young ones going off in every direction to get to where they wanna be nice evening

Thinking back to the experience I want to change the review: the two dishes ordered were excellent, the waiter was very courteous and kind, we trusted him with the choice of a local beer and we were really satisfied!

Lovely old place with lots of history and very welcoming staff.

The menu advised us to ask the server for information on the pie of the day, when we asked the straight answer was “Beef”, had there been a little more time and effort made in explaining that this came with a Marrow Bone filled with fat sat in the middle of the pie this would not have been ordered, , also the pie had very little gravy and was very dry(possibly a small jug of gravy to accompany the dish). We also ordered the Burger which was very tasty and succulent, very much enjoyed this.

Had a lovely meal at Fountain House yesterday, we were served by Alex S who did a fabulous job of looking after us; very friendly service. The food was lovely, massive portion and good quality food. I had a club sandwich and fries. Everything was well executed, I would go back again on the strength of that visit.

Our first visit to the fountain House, on the 30/6/24 chose due to the reviews and was not disappointed.when we arrived and was looking at the menu AlexC come over to us and introduced himself to us and explained that if we didn't want to sit upstairs we could go downstairs to the restaurant.He took us down and explained the menu and took our drink order.we decided to have the Sunday roast me beef my partner chicken asked if chicken was on the bone he said yes partner prefers off the bone breast if possible alex said he would ask the chief, told us the chief could do. So thanks to the chief for accommodating,After the meal had a desert overall a lovely meal and excellent service from Alex a credit to him self for a young lad of 18. Me and my colleagues came here for lunch and drinks on a Friday. It was fairly quiet but the food and service were fantastic. Jaspher who was our server was friendly and attentive!

Had a really enjoyable first meal there, would recommend the pate profiteroles with morello cherries fantastic starter, Sea bass was excellent and the fish and chips ,finished off with a sticky toffee pudding and Eton mess,the whole meal was excellent couldn't fault any course. Very friendly person serving us,hope I have the right name Christakis, knowledgeable about each course and made the meal more enjoyable.Will definately go back for sure, a great find in Manchester. Went with two friends we all came away praising the place fully.

Really happy with the service. I have type 1 diabetes and need to know exactly when food will be out and ready due to Insulin to eating times. The waitress made the chefs aware and everybody was in contact to make the whole experience easy and. Enjoyable

Canceled a meal to attended a pub quiz, quick was canceled as we were the only people that showed (shows how like they are) told quiz was cancel brought 2 pints each , no conciliation drink, no sorry. Nothing would not attended any quiz and definitely wouldn’t go again, bad attitude no atmosphere. Awful

Attended for a pub quiz was told we will wait a bit longer for people to attend, we ended up being the only guests didn’t have the decency to tell us the quiz was cancelled, we bought two rounds while waiting and left us just sitting there waiting

Went last night for a booked meal at 8pm but had to wait till 8.20 to be seated. The steak meal was great but the noise from the pub floor above was incredible. I struggled to hear what my partner or the lovely waitress was saying. I don't think I'll be visiting again.

Had cocktails here with friends and they were gorgeous. Quick service as well!

Myself and my 2 children went here for a later tea. The service was welcoming, and the place was lovely. Quiet, maybe 3 tables were full, but the food was amazing. I had fish and I must say one of the best I've had in a very long time was soft, melted in your mouth and very tasty. Kids were also happy with the burgers for the kids' menu. Highly recommended 👌🏼

Food was really lovely. I had hot smoked salmon and it was delicious. Wine was lovely too (red) I've marked atmosphere down slightly as it was a weekday at about 4pm during the Easter school holiday and in the main we were the only people in there. Having said that it was peaceful and relaxing and the ambience was lovely.

Starters were great but the mains were average. Waitress was lovely but she forgot that we asked for the bill and we were sat waiting.

Awful experience… our reservation was for 18:30, we ordered our food 10 minutes after that.However they had only 1 waiter and 1 bartender and we have waited for our food for more than an hour. Not recommended!

It was a really nice place to have a drink, and although we didn't eat here it looked like it would be a good place to eat. Quieter atmosphere from a number of other places, easier to talk and socialise.

Took shelter out of the rain. A nice bar for a drink. We didn't eat here, but the food that we saw coming out looked good. Only for we had dinner reservations, we would have stayed.

I had the Sunday Roast Chicken and Manchester Tart, both where delicious and well presented. Coffee is not bad also. Downstairs is much nicer than the bar area upstairs.

Absolutely perfect evening at the Fountain House. Stunning food and incredible service - shout out to Shannon who was wonderful! Will be coming back.
