a poor Vietnamese cafe, menu was boring, food didn't look Vietnamese, service was slow and price was london standards, better off going to other options ie better Japanese cafes on the same street.

Had the beef pho set which came with a drink and a prawn spring roll. The soup was good! Thought it was seasoned well (not too salty) and the spring roll (which they forgot, but made up for it later) was nice. Will return.

Everytime I see a new Vietnamese resturant a little bit of excitement runs through me. I lived in Saigon for 3 years and I think the food was probably what kept me there for so long. This probably makes me a bit more picky when it comes to Vietnamese, and I have found it hard (but not impossible) to find truly authentic Vietnamese food.So passing through Camden I passed this place and couldn't help but walk in and order a dish. They seemed friendly and I ordered my favourite dish - Bun Thit Nuoung. When it was placed in front of me things looked good - nice fresh ingredients. I was happy until I poured the fish sauce onto which was awful, they had not got the balance right at all. This may be a minor point, but if you know about Vietnamese cooking you'll know this is the same as going to an Italian and they messing up the tomato sauce. I won't be returning.

It's kind of an insider tip if you're out for quick food that doesn't stretch your budget. The meals are served so fast, you barely ordered them and they're already in front of you. Good sized portions too, and they taste very good. Nothing outstanding, but decent, honest food. The staff was friendly and helpful. It's not really big, and kind of crammed at times, but don't let that put you off.

Crispt seaweed not up to normal standard. Bowl of soup was so tiny compared to Pho which give you a massive bowl. To many things against this place that i would not recommend it, compared to PhoIf you want vietnamese food Pho is the best

On a recent Saturday night the restaurant was packed and looked intriguing. Unfortunately this had an adverse effect on the atmosphere; bags and coats need to be stuffed under (wobbly) tables, other groups are so close and loud you can’t communicate with those across from you, and the whole place is uncomfortably warm. One table was even extended out so it literally completely blocked the entrance to the male lavatory!Service wasn’t disastrous but it would have been nice for someone to take a drink order while we looked at a menu. Likewise, while politely sitting there obviously waiting to be served, we were consistently ignored. Ditto while waiting for the bill. It’s only by awkwardly raising a hand; it took someone to notice that we existed. There’s no rapport with the customers, which is fine, but then there shouldn’t be an included service charge either. The food did arrive ridiculously quickly though once ordered. In regard to value, for Central London prices are reasonable, especially when one considers the huge main course portion sizes. That being said there is mountains of noodles, rice etc which really is almost completely flavourless; this kind of herby, fragrant cooking I just find wishy-washy. The focal point of the dishes, in this case duck and monkfish, had a nice delicate flavour, but nothing to savour. The menu is unnecessary complicated, but with so much choice and reasonable prices, you may consider if you’re looking for something different, but I won’t be returning.

Went to dinner here a few days ago. I rarely go to Vietnamese places (not sure why), but this place was very simple and it is a small restaurant. We were four people and everyone loved their food. The fresh hand rolled buns where very good, the starters we ordered were delicious. the main dishes, were a good amount and very tasty. I went for the Galangal Beef. Perfectly cooked, nice and tender and full of flavour. One of my friends had the lamb and that was great too. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area. And you will be very pleasantly surprised.

Been a couple of times and found the place reliable with a fairly wide selection. Place itself is a bit bland, given the name says cafe I cant really hold that against them. Staff are fine, been with a large group which normally causes some issues anyway. Food itself is really tasty and well priced. With the amount of places on offer in Camden this is a good value option.

being a fan of Vietnamese cooking i thought i'd try this place. i had asked the lady if they used MSG and she said yes, but for me they would cook without it. when the food came in 5 mins, i doubt they had actually prepared it for me. it was well presented but all i could taste were the MSG and chemicals. i suppose if you are drinking beer you don't notice it. paid for it and walked out disappointed with my mouth parched dry as it is when you have MSG. seems good value on the outside but i would avoid.

I went here with my friend, who had been here before and recommended it. As the name would suggest, this is very much a cafe as opposed to a restuarant environment. Its very small inside. The menu is quite extensive and I went went for the Vietnamese Lamb Curry with egg fried rice for £8. My friend went for the Sizzling Beef. Both meals arrived very quickly, presentation was good and the flavour of my food was amazing. I quite enjoyed my meal I have to say. What lets this place down is the customer service. Staff are polite enough but I really do think they could make a bit more of an effort. Excellent customer service is something that will always bring customers back. The drinks were extremely expensive too. I was also not impressed by the evening '10% Service Charge' because apart from bring me my food there really wasn't that much service to warrant it. Overall impression, food was good and I enjoyed it but it wouldn't be on my 'Must visit again list' unless I was with someone who really wanted to go there.

A simple cafe-type restaurant, but these often offer excellent value & this is no exception. We turned up on spec & it was reasonably busy (so buzzy atmosphere), but managed to get a table. An extensive menu, which is a little daunting, but we chose Prawn Crackers... Seaweed... Deep Fried Chilli Beef... Vietnamese Beef with Lemon Grass & rice... & asked them to make a King Prawn & Cashew Nuts (which they made no problem), with rice. With a Tiger beer & a reasonable glass of white wine - £38.94 - fantastic value!Service was polite, if laid back, but reasonable nonetheless. Food arrived very quickly - slightly thrown by the main courses arriving 2-3 minutes after the starters... but as we were sharing everything, this was not a real problem. Portion sizes were huge - from the crackers to the main meals - possibly the biggest I recall in any Asian restaurant. Also a nice touch to have sweet/hot Chilli sauce plus plum sauce plus soy sauce on the table throughout. The food was also excellent - the Chilli Beef as good as I have had (in London)... & I really liked the Vietnamese Beef & Lemon Grass. My wife also loved her Prawns & Cashew Nuts. All in all, a great find, if you want a quick, well priced, tasty meal in Camden...

There are plenty of better places to eat in Camden. My friends chose this place (I'm not sure why!) as they got to the area before me.It's more a "canteen" than a restaurant. It's brightly lit, the tables are fairly cramped together and there's no ambiance or decor to speak of. I suppose the prices reflect this, as they definitely aren't high and the menu appears to be extensive. The food was average. Portions were large, but it's sort of irrelevant as it wasn't nice enough to finish! And the service... well... there was one large guy who's service style I would call "Night Club Bouncer". Didn't say anything, didn't crack a smile and seemed totally and utterly miserable. Ditto the girl working there, who was on the phone most of the time and ignored us until it was time for her to bring over the machine for us to pay. There were a few Asian couples in the place on arrival, so maybe this is the "original Vietnamese" experience, but if so it's not to be repeated by this punter!Try almost anywhere else in Camden and it'll be better than this. We passed a Masala Zone on the way to the pub and I was disappointed we didn't go there!

I'm surprised at the reviewer who found the staff unhelpful, over many visits over last 15 years haven't found that to be the case. But then they do in fact have a drinks licence so maybe the review is for somewhere else. It's a simple place- formica tables- but there are some interesting things on the menu (the eel starter is excellent) and the big bowls of noodles are great value). Good takeaway too. It's not a place for a night out but it wouldn't pretend to be, but definitely good in the area and delivers what iit promises.

As someone who visits London on a semi-regular basis I am more than prepared for the hike in prices, particularly when eating out. I visited Viet-Anh Cafe with a friend who is a regular and was amazed by how great this place is, particularly in terms of value for money! Main courses are huge and average around £8 - bargain! Having lived in China for a year I know a thing or two about dumplings and both the fried and steamed dumplings on offer were delicious. We also tried the chicken satay, vegetable fried soft noodles and chicken and Chinese broccoli with egg fried rice, all was delicious, served quickly and piping hot. The staff were friendly and attentive and the restaurant was really lovely and cosy on a chilly evening. Really surprised by some of the negative reviews on here, I think this places is great!

I feel compelled to write this after reading the negative reviews for this place. I honestly don't recognise the cafe/restaurant I've been going to for about a decade now practically every time I'm in London. the environment is not plush but it's great for a quick, good value, good quality meal. They also let me nurse a green tea for an hour and a half when I was unwell and had to hang around before being able to catch a train. I've also always found the food to be healthy and light and the service to be prompt and efficient. It's maybe not the place to go to if you want to sit and chat in a quiet corner for a couple of hours but for good value, good quality food I can't speak highly enough of it.

I used to enjoy eating here when I lived in Camden so returned for a visit last week (it's been about 8 months since I last went) and I have to say i was quite disappointed. I had a tofu and chinese broccoli soup which was nice but not as many fresh and crunchy vegetables as I remember and the broth itself was a bit bland. This was a complaint shared by my husband who had a beef pho. Both dishes needed a lot of chilli sauce to add some flavour. The crispy seaweed tasted a bit soft - though I should have said something at the time, and to be honest I still ate a lot of it!I couldn't belive they still hadn't got round to fixing the door. If you sit near the door you invariably spend half your meal having to ask people to shut the door behind them when they come in as it doesn't close properly on its own. Saying all that though the service was friendly and efficient and it's still a good place for a quick, not too expensive, bite to eat. However next time I'm in Camden I'll be exploring other options.

This was my first experience with Vietnamese food; I went with a Vitenamese and Chinese friend who well-versed with the cuisine and the culture so I was in good hands. The food was quickly prepared and looked appetising; everything after that was downhill. The cutlery and table were dirty. For a soup and Kung Po tofu I paid nearly £12.00 - which was far too expensive for a cramped and less than hygienic cafe. I emphasise the hygiene as while I was eating the meal my stomach started to gurgle as if it was reacting to something. Within half-an-hour I was on the toilet with extreme diarrhoea and for the next three days I was a very frequent visitor to the loo. I have heard many good things from friends and work colleagues about this cafe so I am conflicted. I will not be returning but I would suggest you perhaps consider it, just be careful.

AVOID- Awful. It's not often I have experienced a meal so greasy it's inedible. I'm a massive fan of Vietnamese food, but this was a huge disappointment. We ate last night, 4 of us looking for a quick bite. It was full, good sign, so we waited to be seated. As we were waiting we asked the waiter if this was a bring your own booze, he said yes - so we popped to the shop opposite. Bought wine & beer only to then be told we can't drink it in the restaurant despite him saying otherwise literally 3 mins earlier. The woman in charge was even worse, refused to acknowledge there was an issue and said I had lied. Utterly ridiculous and ride to the point of me looking for Jeremy beadle to jump out ( doubtful I know )Eventually they said we could only drink the wine, so at least our entire purchase didn't get binned before we joined friends later.Food was ok, kings land road runs rings round them though.

Popped into Viet Anh for quick lunch of vietnamese noodles. Small family run cafe that was quite dirty (the cleaner was using the same cloth on the floor as she had used on the table). The food was ok but let down by a incredibly rude and abrupt manager. When he brought me the bill, he added an additional charge for using my debit card and when I questioned it, was incredibly obnoxious and rude. There are so many wonderful stalls and restaurants in Camden (and the nearby Stables Market) serving a diverse variety of foods that I don't think I will be visiting this cafe again

Any time i visit London this cafe close to Camden Underground is usually my first stop. The cafe looks basic and to be honest it is. The service is efficient but abrupt and the cafe is small and always at bursting point, BUT the food is unbeatable!Try the fried eel with lemongrass, which is probably the finest starter that you could find and their hot and sour soup is probably the best I've tasted. The mains on their sizzling plates, especially the duck are superb. Check the place out. It may not look like much or be the most romantic but it is a million times better than some of the Chinese places that pass as restaurants in London.

I had shopped in here for years years although the pipes are quite expensive. I was looking for Hemani essential oils when one of them slipped from my hand when paying. Unfortunately the bottle of £2,49 broke. I was charged for it! I'm so disappointed that the man was so mean! He showed that it was purely accidentally. Even worse, when I queried he displayed an arrogant attitude. I'm not feeling happy. This shows me how much they care for customer retention.👎
