Ordered two teas which came in disposable cups (my pet hate but no choice)... the price came to more than expected so I looked at the till and we were charged 15p each per disposable cup!! I said to the girl serving us that this was cheeky, and what i assume to be the manager interjected, saying that it was company policy... I replied that that was obvious but still cheeky. I think I'll be viewed as the problem customer. Never mind as I won't go in there again.

What a disappointment! We hoped to find a nice light lunch here. They had NO gluten free options at all so I had to make do with a bag of crisps and a flapjack. My daughter had very limited vegetarian options. My son had a very soggy tuna sandwich. Coffee was ok but really!! Come on, Kew Gardens!

We picked up three tuna sandwiches from here and I've never eaten anything so disgusting in a long while. it was basically two slices of brown bread with what I can only describe as a thin layer of fish paste squashed together and not even cut into two pieces. The food is horrendously overpriced especially for the ghastly fayre on offer. This place is a disgrace to the name Kew Gardens. There is a Tesco Express just outside the train station, so grab your refreshments from there.

The cakes and cookies are not wrapped and I saw a party of schoolchildren pick up cookies and cakes to buy only to be told at the till that it was card payment only. Naturally, they went and put the cookies back but how many times a day does that happen and who wants to buy a cake/cookie that has been handled in this way? I spoke to the manageress about it but she could not care less and just showed me a pair of tongs that people could use. What help is that if someone has been holding a cookie in their bare hands in a queue for five minutes? I would never buy food from there.

Party of three: chose bean wraps and falafel salad for lunch. The wraps were literally beans straight from the tin with no seasoning or embellishment. The most flavourless food we had ever had. When we raised our dissatisfaction with the staff, their response was "that's because it's vegan". I think that for the very high price of the food, they could make some effort to make it enjoyable. It's just a very cynical profit-focussed operation. Will avoid in future.

Kew Gardens is lovely. A national treasure. But this cafe is just a joke. After a long walk around the trees and plants and flowers it would be nice to have something hot to eat but the only option (apart from overpriced warmed up sandwiches) is a sausage roll for 6 pounds 50p. The rest is cold sandwiches, which don't have much flavour. Not even the Ploughman's. And if you think this cafe is expensive, check out the gift shop. 32 pounds for a mug!!! You can try to sell me a mug, but I'm not one myself!

Horrible and rude staff in the kiosk next to Victoria Plaza Cafe. I have ordered 2 lattes. The lady behind the counter pretends that your card have been declined and charges again. I have asked for receipt declination, she couldn’t provide it. I checked my mobile banking, transactions went through. I have pointed this to lady and asked for a refund started insulting me in front of my son, she said she is busy and I am being rude to her and if I need a refund I need to go and look for manager myself. Also spilt my coffee, nearly hit me in my face with PQD machine while she was showing that transaction is declined. I didn’t say that. She was lying. When I found a manager, he was not helpful either. He said I should be happy I have got my coffees (half spilt and for a double price!) The girl run away crying, the manager run after the girl. No one came back to me to issue a refund or apologise for this experience. Horrible service! Horrible staff!

A hugely over-priced cafe with outside tables that, despite the covid-19 pandemic, are not kept clean on a regular basis. It seemed under-staffed and the choice at lunchtime [they don't operate Eat-out to Help-out - why?] was limited and about 2-4 times the price of what a supermarket might charge and 50% more than other cafes. Two small coffees and 2 standard sandwiches [cheese and pickle etc] came to £17.

We asked as instructed at checkout for a list of ingredients in the rather pink looking mayonnaise in one of the sandwiches and was told rather brusquely the ingredients were what you would expect from normal mayo. No ingredients at all listed on the packaging no one would check and we were sniggered at when they thought we were out of earshot. This is totally unacceptable behaviour as severe food allergies were explained. The food we felt safe to buy was over priced, ill served and frankly disappointing. A point to be aware of there are signs saying ask about allergic ingredients be prepared to be brushed off and made to feel stupid!

Not a very relaxing place to sit (unless you manage to get a seat at the edge of the cafe, perhaps), as there are lots of people milling around, including in the nearby open-plan gift shop. Also, they'd run out of soya milk (or other milk alternatives), so we couldn't order the drinks we really wanted and had to make do with different drinks. We picked up several packets of sandwiches from the shelves, which are awkward to get at because of the queues for the check out. Signs in Kew Gardens say that they recycled 250 tonnes of rubbish in a year. I'm not surprised as there wasn't a real plate, cup, glass or piece of cutlery to be found in the Victoria Plaza Cafe. At these prices it is reasonable to expect a real cup and spoon (or even better, a teapot rather than having a tea bag in a paper cup with milk dispensed from a huge flask at a central station). Food (sandwich and scone) was very good but the whole experience was poor. Could do much better!

Ridiculously expensive sandwiches & cakes, and basic sausage rolls served on tiny paper plates. Coffee in paper cups. Staff are trying hard but seem untrained. Definitely NOT an improvement on the previous caterers. Long queue for a hot drink as the whole operation is disorganised. Someone from head office needs to do a time and motion study on this place. The barista kept jumping off his role to take money and dish out sausage rolls which meant that the hot drink machines were standing idle while the whole queue was waiting for a coffee or tea! There were 4 people manning the station and could easily have kept it all running much more efficiently.

After several hours in the gardens, my friend and I chose to eat at this cafe before our very long journey home simply because it was nearest to the gate at which our coach was to collect us. This place seems to have had a constant stream of poor reviews which they have totally ignored. Food is reasonable but expensive. Service is appalling, with long queues shuffling around the central service counter (which is only staffed on one side). Seating is pretty limited (slightly off-putting when it's pouring with rain and freezing cold outside. There are only price/ menu lists for hot drinks so you have to queue up to see what's on offer (and even that is not labelled clearly). In all the time I was there (waiting for someone to queue and get the food, eat it, wait for someone to go around the shop and find the toilets (which are back outside and across an uncovered courtyard) I did not see a single staff member check or wipe-down tables, collect used plates, etc. And do you hate paper cups and plates, plastic cutlery and mini, single-ply serviettes as much as I do? One would have thought that a self-service cafeteria could be so much better than this, with its lack of clear customer signage, poor layout, inefficient till layout and downright unfriendly customer service. Lowlight for me was when trying to pay - two tills, one with a queue and the other without, but with seemingly dozens of staff milling around. Chose the till with no queue, only to be ignored by all the staff and indeed stared at but one younger staff member, who made eye contact then pointedly said nothing and walked off ( not even a "please use the other till"). Gave up in the end and used the passout ability to pop to the much nicer The Kew Conservatory Cafe (near the station) for a much more customer-focused and enjoyable experience.

Spilling onto the Plaza it had a counter facing the plaza with a display of delicious looking cakes (unfortunately pre cut and left out uncovered to dry and get breathed on by all and sundry and £4 per slice seemed outrageous to an out-of-towner. Some were bought and had, of course, started to dry out and the two we tried, coffee and chocolate, tasted much the same as one another. And paper cups! Kew Gardens is lovely and up market, to me paper cups are not, they speak of cheap and nasty. Very disappointing.

We visited this cafe on a rainy day. There were tables both inside and out. I selected a drink and a coronation chicken sandwich. Unfortunately the bread was stale and the sandwich was completely devoid of chicken. When I complained at the counter the sandwich was immediately replaced with a well filled sandwich on fresh bread. I suspect the lack of filling was an aberration but I suspect the sandwiches are kept for two or three days before being thrown away. Every sandwich has a "best before" date but beware. If the "best before" is todays date then the sandwich was probably made two or three days ago.

Visted yesterday and found the cafe very overpriced - £5.95 for a sausage roll that literally dripped fat all over the table - you can get half a dozen much nicer ones at Greggs for that 😂 Chocolate cake looked good but at £5.25 a slice we gave it a miss, likewise £11.50 for a baked potato with sausage and onions. My latte didn't appear to have much milk in it (clue should be in the name) and the service wasn't particularly friendly either. Dirty crockery was piling up and not being cleared - I'm guessing they were short of staff. Hampton Court Palace is one of my absolute favourite places but this little cafe really needs some TLC.
