Went to the restaurant for a impromptu lunch, a proper Italian restaurant and pleasantly surprised by the amazing quality of food and service. Vesuvio will definitely become a regular on our restaurant rotation schedule.

We came for the first time on Valentines day and we were apprehensive as the restaurant was pretty quiet... but boy were we wrong! The food was fantastic, the service friendly and genuine and the desserts amazing. The pizzas were perfectly thin and with high quality ingredients, and the tiramisu perfectly light and sweet. I can only imagine it wasn't full because it's a little further away from all the other restaurants, so if you don't know it's there you'd miss it. One of my favourite places in London, we will be returning again and again!

Amazing service and delicious food!!Don't let the location deter you. It's a little hard to find down a side street, but it is worth the trek. Authentic and delicious Italian food with a great list of choices from pasta to pizza. We had both and nothing we ate disappointed. Great pizza crust and tender pasta! The folks running this place were so kind and generous to us; very friendly and welcoming. It felt more like coming to a family member's house for dinner. Loved it so much!! First visit, after works pizza. Between the familial treatment, the excellent service, quality food and reasonable prices, we all fell in love with place. We had a blend of German, Irish, French, Greek and British Asian in our group and we all left with full bellies and full hearts. A beautiful restaurant experience, dont forget to check out the art work on the walls...stunning stuff.

I really love the food there. I go there all the time, the ingredients are fresh and tasty. The staff are very friendly and there is a great Italian atmosphere especially when the Italian chef sings while making pizza. I would recommend it for sure.

We had dinner at Vesuvio and it was the worst experience ever in terms of service.The waitresses were totally drunk and at the end of the dinner they had a fight between them and ended up with the chef on the floor.The food was ok but it was far too expensive for the value. We paid £50 each. Not recommended experience

The friendly italian staff make you feel at home as soon as you arrive, and set the perfect atmosphere to go with friends and family, colleagues or clients. The pizza's (and succulent calzone's) conjured up by larger than life head chef Marzio offer the perfect balance of hearty sourdough crust and quality toppings. But it's not just pizza the kitchen excels in, with a range of delicious pasta dishes, seafood and meat, demanding visit after visit.

We randomly stumbled upon this restaurant after deciding we weren't in the mood for Indian food. The staff were more than happy to create a vegan dish for my friend (the chef made a vegan pizza that was delightful), they had a ton of vegetarian options for another friend, and regular menu items for the rest of the group. All of the food was spectacular, good wine, great staff, and the atmosphere was fun. We laughed the entire time and would highly recommend a stop here if you're in the area and aren't sure what to eat! You won't be disappointed.

We went to Vesuvio for dinner on a recent short visit to London, and all I can say is it was faultless. We were on a Groupon deal - £25 for two of the best sirloin steaks we have tasted, plus prosecco – which in some restaurants can mean that the level of service is sometimes not the best. But the welcome and service from everyone at Vesuvio was excellent. The place itself has a modern but cosy décor and the walls are adorned with contemporary paintings by local artists, including some really good works by our waitress, Tomhasina. The manager stopped by our table for a chat, and renowned pizza chef Marzio, who also trains local chefs in his craft, was just as friendly and chatty as we left. Obviously most diners go to Brick Lane for a curry fix, but this little gem is well worth exploring as an alternative to the myriad of Indian and Bangladeshi fayre. In an age when everywhere is being swallowed up by the big chains, it’s good to support a local, authentic restaurant with proper, fresh food cooked and served by friendly people with a genuine passion for quality service. Popped in for a quick dinner with my daughter and her friend. Looking for something that wasn't curry and found this great little restaurant just off Brick Lane. The food was great, service quick, prices very reasonable and brilliant waiter who had us laughing in no time. Thanks for a really fun time!

I had booked a Groupon for one person, for a lunch. The restaurant had to close suddenly and by way of recovery, offered to extend the booking to my other half as well, in the evening.We both had the most delicious steaks, prosecco, and the entire place was serenaded by singing from the pizza chef.The pizzas smelt and looked divine, I am going to have to come back for one, or two....

I had a spaghetti alle vongole which was better than the one I had in Italy ! My husband had pizza and it was also great!Wonderful food, people and environment. We will definitely come back soon !

Wonderful friendly welcome when we arrived with divine smells drifting from the kitchen and fresh dough being made at the front of the restaurant. Marinated Olives were brought out along with a nice fruity pinot grigio. The better half opted for the Spaghetti alla Carbonara which had freshly made pasta and a the most wonderful cream source. I had the Risotto alle capesante which was perfectly cooked with a deep safron sauce and scallop plus shrimp. It was pure heaven, we enjoyed so much we had a bottle of wine and chilled out talking to the lovely waitress. An authentic and perfect lunch, we will be returning.

Here you will find a really good place to enjoy the evening and a really well made pizzas. The owner is really a "Maestro". The pizza doug is incredible light. The pasta is also really good. If you want to eat really Italian food you should try this one.

Me and my partner came here for dinner on our weekend break to London and we had a fantastic time. Upon entering the owner gave us an incredibly friendly welcome and was really kind and chatty to us throughout the entirely of our meal, as were the waiters aswell. For the portion sizes the food is incredibly good value and of an excellent quality. The Pizza I had aswell was massive and reminded so much of when I was in Rome a few years back and I felt a little bad not being able to finish it. The Heineken on tap was of a good quality and my partner absolutely loved her Wine. In conclusion if we were on a weekend away in London again and in the nearby area we would happily pop back no question.

The food was perfect! The cheesy garlic bread in particular was so good! The restaurant is situated in a really nice are and as soon as you get there, you're greeted by the nicest staff you could ever wish for. The young chef even came to our table after he cooked our food to see how we were getting on which was a nice touch, you don't really get that anywhere. Perfect food, perfect service!

Came here due to trip advisor ratings and the reviews. Short version is that I'm wondering how their prices can be so competitive. Not that I ordered it this time, but £18 for a whole lobster seems a disturbingly good bargain. There's no specials board, but the chef/manager (hard to tell) was a very pleasent and friendly man who told us of the crabs he had available- we showed him the picture and he confirmed that that was what was on offer. Every seafood item on the menu had the word "fresh"- and having eaten the crab, I can state that this does appear to be the case so far. The linguine was perfectly al-dente and the tomato sauce fragment with crab and succulent with pieces of tomato. Total winner. There's no dessert menu either- the desserts are on a rotating cabinet display, and vary on the day I imagine. That said, we plumped for a tiramisu to share- a pretty good one, it turned out. They made a small error of billing us twice for the tiramisu, but quickly rectified this for us. Finally, they don't charge service...Will be returning.

Called in on Sat night with my mum and nephew. There wasn't a children's menu although we'd seen one online so my nephew had a pizza which he definitely couldn't finish but they happily bagged this up for us to take away.we both chose pasta which came a little al dente for my personal taste but it was tasty anyway. I'd definitely call in again to try a pizza if i'm in the neighbourhood in future

Came on Saturday evening with my partner. An extremely warm welcome from the owner who joined us for a drink and chat and was extremely friendly- something which is rare nowadays- makes such a huge difference when the owners are interested in their customers. The chef was very funny and outgoing- a great character. Food was excellent- partner had the pork belly which was delicious- highly recommend, and I had the monkfish- 1st time and would certainly have it again- The place in general was very clean and modern and showed off artists pieces which you could buy- all were very good and the murals were great. A very relaxed atmosphere, which as i said was helped by the owner and chef, and not forgetting the waiting staff. Will highly recommend this place, but first you have to find it- as it is a bit hidden. Thank you all so much for a great evening.

High speed service when we ordered pizzas on a warm spring day. Great chef who produced great food for us which we really enjoyed.

Upon entry, we were greeted (in Italian, no less) by a bounding, cheerful chef, whom I assume is the owner. We were given excellent service, and the food is good too, although it's fairly standard Italian fare. The decor is fairly minimalist and modern, but it works. My only complaint is that it got quite warm inside!

Really good pizzas here. Went with a group of friends (including a few Italians) and everyone left happy and full. Definitely one of the best pizzas I've had in London. I am told the other food was also very good, but did not try it personally. It's simple, reasonably priced and has enough variety.Be careful of the vesuvio pizza though, it's a bit spicy!!! Service was quick and friendly. And the pizza chef is a real character. Had a quick chat with on the way out and he had all sorts of stories...

We have been to this restaurant twice now. The food was consistently good on both occasions. The wine was nice. This is a small independent Italian restaurant which is frequented by locals and Italians "in the know". It is nice to go to a restaurant which is not a chain and which serves good, inexpensive Italian food.

Really warm friendly staff, delicious Chardonnay, and beautifully seasoned seafood pasta. I can't recommend this place enough, bit of a hidden gem as it's tucked away on a quiet side street.

Excellent pizza/calzone etc in generous portions in this lovely authentic restaurant. Friendly staff. Not many other diners, so it had a relaxed and quiet feel which I quite liked, though it definitely deserves to be busier because of the quality. A bread basket while waiting for the food to arrive would make it perfect.

So we decided to go out for a meal whilst on a trip to London. After a thorough read through a number of reviews for Italian and Pizzeria restaurants we came across this place and it certainly didn't disappoint. From the moment we stepped foot in the door until we left, the whole team made us feel so welcome. Incredible people, great food, lovely art on the walls and a fun pizza chef who even let me practice my pizza making skills. Thanks for a great night, thanks for great food and thanks for another set of memories from our annual London Christmas trip.

We went in without reading any reviews, not knowing what to expect. The place was empty. I ordered the four cheese pizza and my wife the crab pasta.Both were really tasty and possibly the best we have had yet in London.We are going back, hungry for more.

Chef's special crab pasta (not on menu) is the best seafood pasta we've found it LN! Same quality as the best pasta we had in Italy. Pizza was very tasty too. House red wine was so-so, but the staff (all Italian?) are wonderful; air is a bit stuffy but the deco is nice. Overall, a great experience at very reasonable price!Strongly recommend.

Four of us ate dinner here during the week recently and had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. We can certainly recommend Vesuvio and it's worth walking that little bit further from the usual Brick Lane haunts to find this friendly Italian restaurant. Pizzas are a speciality, but there is also a good choice of other dishes, all of which are very good quality and value. The staff are also very friendly. Vesuvio deserves to be better known and don't be put off by the slightly quirky exterior. First of all I live in Brick Lane which makes it really hard for us to find Italian restaurant close by (since it is surrounded by huge amount of Indian restaurants). When we arrived, the restaurant was surprisingly empty, we started having second thoughts. Still after the food arrived, the taste was unexpectedly flavorful. The spaghetti we had had the perfect texture, an aldente with a bit crisp in the middle which I specifically like. The sauce of the bolognese and the carbonara did not disappoint us either. Plus, the waitress offered grated parmesan for us right after; this is a huge plus for us which it was the first thing that came in mind after we tasted. This pizza we had was thin and crisp, definitely one of the best around. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience i had in this restaurant. I hope they would keep it up and gain more customers in the near future.

I went on a Wednesday evening with two business guests. It was surprisingly empty. After looking through the menu and originally going for one of their recommended pizzas I asked the lady serving us for any other recommendation. She suggested the linguine with crab because they had fresh crab in. It was absolutely delicious. Check out the picture. Both my guests enjoyed their dishes (one pizza and one spaghetti vongole) although my dish was the standout. I found the service very friendly and attentive (especially the owner in his brilliant hat) and will definitely be going back.

The pizzas are second to none in the area. But recently the service for long standing local patrons has gone massively downhill. Makes it difficult to recommend the restaurant for anyone new. You run the massive risk of being disappointed and turned away for little reason. Such a shame.

Went here with a dozen work colleagues one Friday evening (16/10/15) having seen the excellent reviews here on TripAdvisor. Well, they weren't wrong.I cannot fault the staff. Their service was impeccable, and there was a great Italian family atmosphere with the rather eccentric Papa of the house, sporting a chefs hat that made him look a bit like a human mushroom tending the front of the house.I had the Vesuvio pizza and it was spicy HOT! There wasn't a person who was unhappy with the food they had and we all left with full bellies and smiles on our faces.Will definitely go again!

Visited at lunchtime with a college. It wasn't busy....but I guess this area (just off Brick Lane) is more set up for evening dining.Anyway a very good meal with good service. Fairly priced too.Would happily go again and on that basis plessed to recommend.

This was our last night in London and we wanted to find an Italian / pizza restaurant that had good food, ambiance and good ratings in the Spitafields neighbourhood. Vesuvio ticked every box and compared to many restaurants on or near Brick Lane this place was very clean and authentic. The proprietor (we assumed that is what he was) was very colourful and quite a character.. He pushed the rating to excellent as the food was very good but not the best we have experienced

I was looking for italian food at Shoredidch and found this lovely place! I had a great linguine with prawns, I totally recommend. The service is also very good, very nice people!

I have been to this restaurant several times already, at least four, and we love it more and more.They have a nice selection of pizzas, that are really tasty, with homeade dough and a woodfire oven. Starters are also correct, and come fast!They also prepare pizzas that are not on the menu (such as 4 cheeses)!They serve pints of beer for dinner, which I loved!And is correctly priced. We normally pay around 18£.The service is great. Definately one of the highlights of the restaurant (after the pizzas, of course). The italian cook is nice and easygoing, and has great command of german, spanish, english and italian of course!The waitress is also really nice. She always remembers us and has a really nice smile. We love the way she treat us! Really kind and easygoing!One of our usual restaurants to go to with friends!

Booked for a table of 12 after Graduate Fashion Week and had a lovely time in this medium sized and very pleasant restaurant. We are near Stoke on Trent so found this online and took a chance as we don't know this area at all. Pleased to say that the evening was a great success because the staff were very helpful in dealing with all our requests and the quality of the food was excellent. Highly recommended.

Podría ser una pizza de diez y se queda en el aprobado.Para ser justos, el precio es bastante ajustado. El servicio es muy amable y de hecho pedimos extra de cebolla en una pizza y no nos lo cobraron. Si vas a brick lane y no eres fan de la comida india... éste es un restaurante a tener en cuenta.

We ordered pizza and it was ok. If this was your local you would come back, but I would not go out of my to come back here again when there are so many better Italian pizza restaurants in London. Service was good, price not bad and open quite late on a Sunday night.

Went for my birthday with about 10 friends. Had great appetizers - calamari, eggplant parmesan, cured meats, and arancini. Everything was delicious. I had the risotto di funghi which was awesome. The pizzas and calzones that my friends ordered looked great too! Good portions and good prices. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Nice decor and great environment overall. Will definitely go back!

Always a great experience to eat there, either pizza or pasta. I am not an expert in Italian food, but always been there with Italian people and they loved it. I highly recommend it. The location is ideal, off busy Brick Lane, the place is nice, welcoming, clean, good prices and the service is fast. The staff is very friendly, welcoming and contribute to create a great atmosphere. And finally, the food is amazing, never get tired of it. The pizza is fantastic, very good pasta and creamy risottos. Definitely my favourite place to eat in London.

Nearly hidden in the asiatic restaurant area of Whitechapel, found thanks to TripAdvisor this very good italian for me being an italian, tasted shrimps as started and the naples calzone as main dish that was very good. Service is very nice, thanks to Tommasina and Maria Silvia. Owners/chef are very friendly. Restaurant is nice, price is ok.

Different people focus on different aspects of a dining experience - for me the service is KEY! You could have great food anywhere, but you don't find great service everywhere. This is why I highly recommend this place.

My wife and I chose this restaurant after reading all the good reviews but in our opinion it was over rated by far. The starters were not great and the garlic mushrooms were out of a tin. The pastry of the pizza was excellent but toppings were of poor quality mozzarella?? Well I would say it was a very cheap block mozzarella wanna be and tomato sauce tasteless. Take this review from a well traveled Italian.

I've been in the Vesuvio Restaurant with a friend for dinner. The waitress were very kind and the owner welcome us very good. We've start with calamari and mussels and they were very tasting and fresh. Later we have order some linguine with lobster in tomato sauce and we have shared one pizza. They were amazing with a true Italian taste. The restaurant is beautiful and serve traditional Italian cuisine. The atmosphere is very warm and the food is lovely. We will come back for sure and we recommend this restaurant to everyone. Really happy to have eat here

Un atmosfera speciale è un accoglienza degna di rispetto... il cibo perfetto....un esplosione di gusto che ricorda i veri sapori sardo/italiani... consiglio a tutti di provare almeno una volta questo locale... servizio impeccabile..... come antipasto ho preso calamari fritti, gamberi al vino e pepata di cozze... una vera esplosione di gusto...Come seconda portata abbiamo deciso di assaggiare le linguine all'aragosta.... sono state spettacolari.. buonissime... non potevo scegliere un pasto migliore...

Among the numerous Indian restaurants near Brick Lane, this is a gem of an Italian restaurant. Let's just be clear, the decor is not anything special, but what makes this place wonderful are the things that matter (i) food and (ii) service. The first time I came here, the place was empty and I was really concerned. But after tasting the wonderful cheese garlic bread and the Chicken cutlet, I was just sold. They are so warm and friendly here. The place is very affordable, and you never have to wait. A perfect neighborhood Italian eatery. I come here once every two weeks now. Another tell tale sign that this is a good place...after I sat down the first time, I noticed that every table that came to sit down after us were Italian or Italian speakers. A good sign for any restaurant.

The first time I came to this restaurant was in August with my parents. Since then I've been to this place over 10 times and I still love it. The pizzas are the best pizzas I've ever tasted, the atmosphere is great and the staff is very friendly. Shortly, my favorite restaurant in London and it feels like home.

La pizza era buona, ma nascondeva qualche segreto: dava come l'impressione di essere surgelata. Voglio fidarmi, e credere che non sia vero. Il locale è carino, senza molte pretese, arredato alla maniera delle pizzerie a buon mercato di tutta Italia, con riferimenti all'italianità appesi in ogni dove: Totò, Sordi, Brando, Colosseo...Non so se fosse a causa della stanchezza di tutta la settimana lavorativa, o se sia un'abitudine, ma il servizio ha lasciato a desiderare: ordinata una birra piccola, ripetutamente sottolineata, me ne hanno portata una grande. La pizza ha tardato a uscire dal forno. Ero con un mio amico francese, e ad una domanda nel suo inglese zoppicante la cameriera ha risposto con un assordante "EH?" (non che il suo inglese fosse meglio). A me ha chiesto se fossimo italiani: "Io sì, lui no" "BEATO TE!" (al francese). No no no. Non è una buona scelta di marketing. Peccato, avevo voglia di sentirmi a casa, e invece mi sono visto offrire proprio la faccia dell'Italia che non mi manca.

We have been to this place twice with group of my friends and we love the place. The pizzas are amazing, the atmosphere is very nice...Most importantly it is one of the rare places where you feel like home. The staff couldnt be friendlier... This place is our favourite place so far... Shortly, one of the best ever...
