Excellent place to taste authentic American BBQ. - The food was excellent, we tried many options and couldn't decide which one was best. - Service was fast and the staff was friendly. - We visited in the evening and we liked the low light atmosphere. I would say it's on the pricey side but I guess that's the case for this type of food. Definitely worth a visit.

The customer service was excellent a solid 10/10. However, the food was a 7/10, and here's why. For a restaurant that specialises in smoked meats, I was disappointed to find that the starter wings weren’t smoked, which felt like a missed opportunity and letdown. The brisket pricing also raised concerns. At £18 for just two slices or 200g, it feels overpriced, especially when compared to alternatives like Bodeans. A whole brisket is listed at £195, yet there’s no option for a half portion, which seems like a gap in the menu offering. We ordered for a group of four, and rather than having our meals served individually, everything arrived on a single shared platter. While some may enjoy this style, we would have preferred our dishes served on separate plates for a more personalised experience. Overall, the restaurant has potential, but in terms of value for money, it falls short. We spent nearly £200 (2 adults 2 children and still left feeling hungry. At this stage, I’d say Bodeans offers better value as you get much more for your £££ and perhaps even edges out in taste, though both establishments deliver enjoyable smoked flavours.

I truly can't recommend this place enough! The food was delectable and truly an experience like no other! We had the 30 dry aged beef and the pork main dish ( sorry for forgetting the exact name) We also had the taco and ox cheek accompanied by a jalapeño cocktail .. A really heavy and hearty meal which left us both satisfied and full . We had this raw brocoli starter which was bizarre but delicious The meat was out of this world and we sat by the bar where we could see it all being prepared .. what an evening! It worked out to be about 45 pp but well worthit and would love to come back! The staff were very accommodating and friendly .. would highly recommend you check this smoke House out!

The waitress was the best thing about the restaurant, she was helpful and friendly. This place is not a family friendly restraunt AT ALL for a number of reasons. The starters were ok I ate them, my family didn’t. The chard greens are LITERALLY burnt kale I couldn’t believe that they have people paying for vegetables that turn to ash in your mouth. The meet was cooked really well very tender the taste was ok the beef rib and brisket tasted reasonably well seasoned. The pork belly had a Sticky barbecue saucy which I was disappointed by, it wasn’t clear on the menu. The chips were too salty we left half of them. In short it was ok my partner ate almost nothing except meat and coleslaw. I ate most everything and it was ok. tThere wasn’t anything that I really enjoyed. Also we were seated right by the kitchen and half suffocated by barbecue smoke we left absolutely reeking of barbecued meat, I don’t know if that’s supposed to be part of the atmosphere but it just made us rush to pay the bill so we could leave. Overall I wouldn’t go back here. The atmosphere reminds me of a really noisy and busy version of the tavern in the movie ‘The book of Eli’. 2.5 stars.

Went with a 15 person party for the tasting menu. The food quality was great, everything was cooked well and tasted well. The amount of food that was brought to us felt lacking, the sauces for the sides were overflowing but the sauces for the meat were minuet. The toilets only had cold water tap. So overall I paid about £85 for 2 slices of beef, a small plate of chips, a small salad and 3 beers.

Smokestak is a cozy, modern restaurant with an informal atmosphere. It's the perfect place to enjoy great food and beers with friends. Whenever I'm in London, I try to visit—the smoked meats are absolutely amazing! Pay attention for the closing hour. By the time I am writting this review, it closes at 10 pm.

There is a real lack of decent BBQ spots in London, and this is a decent attempt. The crispy ox cheek croquettes were really good, the pastrami on point, the charred greens salad with tahini unexpectedly delicious , but the brisket was unfortunately quite fatty and not great. The service was attentive, and although the decor is quite modern and unique, it feels a little too dark.

Italian bloke who served us became a petulant child as soon as we asked to split the bill. 12.5% mandatory service charge for him to mutter some Italian swear words under his breath and then aggressively walk off without even a thank you as soon as our payment went through. Oh and also we ate in a tent on the side of the pavement.

Yeah, this is excellent. The brisket and beef rib were top notch. One small complaint was that the lean brisket was just ever so slightly dry but everything else made up for it. The fatty brisket had perfect flavour, burnt end tacos were excellent (really nice flavour on the tortilla!) and the beef rib was rich and delicious. The pork belly rib was tasty but I would have preferred a baby back or spare rib cut instead. Will absolutely go again

All in all it was alright. Meats were cold (which should not be the case with fresh bbq dishes). Meat itself was really tasty, fresh and tender. Unfortunately not to much of a flavour on the brisket and pulled pork. Beef rib was outstanding! Our table was really shaky, which did not bother anyone from the staff. Upon serving we unfortunately did not get asked, if the food was good or not. I mentioned in the end but did not get any question regarding the cold meats back. Music was to loud (and no, I am not 70 years old). You couldn‘t understand the waitress. All in all alright - bur we hoped for more, since their IG and web pictures were quite nice. 🥲

Great bbq meats. Definitely the beef brisket and pork belly (as usual) are the standouts. It is obviously the kind of place where your clothes are going to smell afterwards so bear that in mind. I forget the name of them but the sticky crackling type things were nice but probably wouldnt order again (between 3 we weren’t bothered about finishing the bowl) and also probably wouldnt bother with the peanut cucumber thing… you come for the bbq meat…

We ordered goat cheese beetroot salad, pork belly, beef brisket and confit burnt end taco, skin-on chips. All flavors were better than average. The place is quite crowded and there is excessive circulation. Since we sat on the terrace, we were not very impressed by the place. It was much nicer inside. You should definitely make a reservation and try it.

The brisket is amazing. It’s serveres as sharing plates. The food portions are small so 2 sides each. Really loved the food it’s quite special. The price is so much 91 for 2 people to eat and have 2 drinks each. I felt it was worth 50-60 but it was good and the service was good and the food came quickly so what the heck am I complaining about the price. !’ This place has it all.

Great establishment. Delicious BBQ cuisine, with its own twist and history. The service was super pleasant, the young guy gave advice and personal recommendations, was polite and not annoying. Good beer on tap, browse through the food. Bull cheek croquettes - top. Great textures and the sauce that goes with them. Wings in a stunning gochujang glaze, with sourness and spice, a perfectly balanced balance of taste. Smoking is beyond praise. I recommend visiting The toffee pudding is the perfect cherry on top. 10/10

First time visiting Smokestak and what a treat it was. The atmosphere of the restaurant compliments the food nicely, even down to the dark attire of the staff and the cool black cutlery. Our waiter was so friendly and attentive (i did ask his name but it’s completely left my memory sorry). He recommend us dishes for our budget and it didn’t fail. The meats were Smokey, soft and succulent. Very well cooked - you can tell that the chefs are excellent at what they do. The small accompaniments of veg (I believe it was chilli and pickles or gherkins) were just the right sourness needed to balance the heavy meats. The chips. My gosh! Best chips that I’ve had in a while. Fresh. Hot. Well-salted. Delicious! I can’t wait to come back with my husband when we are in London again. Highly recommend.

Truly exceptional meat Having the desire to eat a lot of meat, I do some research and discover this little place, not far from the center, which requires reservations. I go on an adventure and manage to find a table for 2. Let's take: a couple of starters, crispy beef fat with onions on a small cooked piadina, nothing special, then some fried ox cheek meatballs, not bad. As main dishes we take a mix of which: Pork belly rib, beef brisket and 30 day dry-aged beef short rib. So all 3 meats were truly exceptional, juicy, soft, they could be cut with a fork, but apart from that both the beef rib and the pork belly were very glazed and honestly I didn't appreciate them as much as I would have liked. Very friendly and nice staff but I can't wait to go back to try the pulled pork

I’ve been wanting to visit Smokestak for ages and finally it was my birthday so what a perfect time to go. We were 1/2 hour early for our table but luckily got seated right away plus our host gave us a better table as it was my birthday. Every table looks great though. The atmosphere in this place is brilliant. The open kitchen is with the Smokey meats being cooked is great. Our waitress was welcoming and helpful. My friend had recently gone and recommended a few dishes but we double checked with the waitress what we’d ordered enough. For two people she recommended two starters, two main and two sides. Our drinks arrived promptly. I highly recommended the Smokestak Red which is served cold. The food was delicious. The meat was so tender it just fell apart. Definitely didn’t need a knife. Everything was tasty but my absolute favourite had to be the Ox Cheek. I had stated in my booking that it was my birthday and so they brought me out a scoop of sorbet with a candle in it for free. So lovely.

Not a bad place for BBQ, the ox cheek croquettes are magic, the short rib was nice and the charred pork belly rib and pickled cucumber had great flavours, unforgivably the beef brisket with mustard was dry but the sauce saved it. The sides were a bit mean but I would recommend the pickled red cabbage and mint slaw. I wouldn’t order the gochujang wings, crispy shallot, coriander, they didn’t stand out as a unique dish.

if you’re traveling to or live in London, put this smokehouse at the top of your foodie list now! SMOKESTAK is located a stone’s throw off of London’s iconic Brick Lane, and is nothing short of an explosion of flavors! we stopped by for a quick lunch, and let me tell you—this was the best meal of my trip. the wood-roasted bone marrow was fatty and salty, with a delicious sweetness throughout, perfect with the chewy sourdough bread. we also had an ox cheek starter, shredded meat fried in a batter for a contrast of crisp and soft, and paired with a umami-forward anchovy mayo. for the mains, we shared a juicy beef brisket and smoky, charred pork belly rib. but honestly, would you be surprised if we told you the star of the meal wasn’t a meat dish, but rather the smacked cucumber salad?! drowned in a spicy chili vinegar with roasted peanuts, the salad was so good we had to ask for a spoon to slurp up every last bit of the dressing. do yourself a favor and make sure you order this! overall, i really have no points of improvement—the service was absolutely stellar and the hostess and server were both on top of their game. an absolute delight, and we will be back! Great smoked meats, we really enjoyed the brisket (succulent and falling off the fork, side sauce was spectacular) and charred pork belly (very crispy). We sat inside and the atmosphere was all encompassing, low light and intimate with a matching tone of music (little rustic and edgy); they paid attention to the details from the black table tissue to the cutlery. The staff were very friendly and helpful with any of our questions, the interactions felt light-hearted.

Top marks for this restaurant & staff. The Mrs and I sat outside in the wee terrace area and they had the heat lamps running so it was nice and cozy due to tonight being so cold. We shared everything. The brisket was so soft and full of flavour. The ribs, omg to die for. The pickled red cabbage was nice and fresh, but the raw broccoli side was just gorgeous. The Sticky toffee pudding by the way was just out this world. Their house lager was a great accompaniment with all the food. Lovely atmosphere inside and outside. Alex was brilliant, such a happy & friendly wee guy, his service was fantastic, well done, our experience was phenomenal. We do have ONE complaint though… That’s there’s not one up in Glasgow so next time we come to London it may just be to come dine here again it was that good. Well done all. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Service was just ok, an item on our bill that I didn’t order and two items never appeared, when girl came to collect plates we said we were still waiting for two items, charred greens and ox cheek. She seemed surprised and questioned us twice… was very nice about it but still. She gave us new plates and cutlery and we started again with the missing plates. Everything was delicious, just surprised no amendments on the bill… actually a cider added.

Smokestak is hands down one of the best BBQ spots I’ve ever been to! From start to finish, the experience was fantastic. The selection of meats was cooked to absolute perfection, with every bite packed full of deep, smoky flavor. The 30-day aged beef ribs were the real star of the show—so tender they fell right off the bone, with just the right balance of char and juiciness. If you visit, you absolutely have to try them! The ox cheek starter was another standout dish—a solid 10/10, rich, flavorful, and melt-in-the-mouth delicious. The menu has plenty to offer, but our server gave us some excellent recommendations, including the pork belly rib, which was beautifully caramelized, and the brisket bun, which was soft, smoky, and incredibly satisfying. The sides were just as impressive—we particularly loved the crispy beef dripping chips and the fresh, tangy house pickles that cut through the richness of the meat perfectly. Service was warm, friendly, and attentive throughout. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and helped guide us toward the best choices without being pushy. For the quality of food and experience, the prices were very reasonable—you’re getting top-tier BBQ without the over-the-top price tag. All in all, Smokestak exceeded all expectations. We’ll definitely be returning and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for outstanding smoked meats, a great atmosphere, and excellent service. Don’t leave without trying the beef ribs—you won’t regret it!

"Reservé para nuestro aniversario. A la llegada nos ofrecieron la peor mesa en un restaurante bastante vacío, una mesa de pasillo justo al lado de la entrada / salida del bar. Pedí otra mesa y me ofrecieron la segunda - peor mesa en el restaurante en la otra entrada / salida del bar. No se ofrece una mesa mejor nos fuimos y fuimos a Hawksmoor. No volveremos a Smokestak. No complaints bar the brisket. Bone marrow amazing (AMAZING). Ox cheek great. Padron peppers yes please. Pork belly lovely. Brisket was just worse than most average places I’ve gone to. All the other stuff is 5*. Maybe just a bad night for the brisket!

Delicious food, friendly service, but portions a little on the small side. The food overall was very tasty. The bone marrow was delicious but very rich; we shared it between two which I think was a smart choice. The charred greens were good but I would have liked a little more greens. The other ingredients made it tasty, but I wanted more veg with this very meat-heavy meal. The skin-on chips were good but I would have much preferred the aioli on the side. It looks nice for instagram but I’ve never understood why restaurants force you to have a massive coating of sauce on some chips and none on others. The meat, which is obviously what you go for, was delicious. Tender and plenty of flavour. My only criticisms would be they were a touch on the greasy side (a minor criticism, much better than being too dry of course) and the portions were a bit small. The beef brisket, pork belly, and beef rib pictured came on one small tray and were three “mains” which we shared between two. The sticky toffee pudding was nice and not too sweet. I was pleasantly surprised as there was a lot of sauce which I thought would be too sickly, but it balanced out well with the ice cream. I often find restaurants don’t give enough ice cream with their hot desserts but this was a pretty good balance. The waiter we had was very friendly and helpful in recommending dishes. Though he made out like we were ordering a lot of food which he’d almost be surprised if we finished. We finished it with ease and were left wishing there was a little more. Overall, I’d definitely recommend trying this place if you like barbecue. It’s a bit on the expensive side if you’re a big eater though, don’t expect to fill on up sides like corn bread and slaw like you might at other barbecue joints. That’s not a bad thing, but if you’re coming to indulge in meat, order accordingly (more than you think) and be prepared to pay for it.

My first time ever at this place, was recommended by a friend from London and we came all the way from Liverpool to try it and it did not disappoint, best BBQ I’ve had since I’ve been to South Carolina, had the pleasure to meet Fabio I think he was the restaurant manager, he guide us throughout all the experience and made it all be extra special , the atmosphere, the quality and the eye for the detail from all the waiters was outstanding ! We definitely coming back !.

Great tasting American style barbecue food but spoilt by their desire to turn over the table. The beef brisket was outstanding, melt in your mouth. The rib was also very good as was the ox cheek. I also really enjoyed the charred vegetables. The waiting staff were very attentive and friendly but it was clear they were asked to push you out the door as soon as possible. It's been a while since I've seen a waiter actively suggest that we get the bill even though we had only been there for around 90mins. Prepare to eat delicious food but don't assume it will be a relaxed experience.

I am from Texas and we love good bbq so when I saw this was Michelin recommended and all of the 5 star reviews and difficulty getting a reservation, I was expecting to be blown away. I ordered the brisket. To be fair, it did “mention mustard”, but the last thing I expected was for the meat to taste straight up like a spoonful of Frenchy’s mustard! It literally made me sick to my stomach! They also provided a big puddle of extra mustard in the middle just in case mustard disguised to look like meat was not enough mustard! Perhaps some of the other dishes are good, but unless you are just craving mustard, do yourself a favor and skip the brisket! The meat was very tender, and I am sure it would have been delicious if I could have actually tasted any of the meat! Oh and skip the fries too because they were also awful. On the positive side, the food came quickly and the ambiance was incredible! The decor and lighting are really cool. I would come back for a drink, and maybe to try something else.

The food was excellent, non alcoholic drinks were excellent. We pretty much got everything on the menu. Tacos we're a bit rich for my taste, and the kale char thingy was not our favourite. The brisket, rib, cheeks, and cucumber smash were highlights. The only problem was we got sat down ahead of time, but the staff was incessantly pushy about leaving the place. Not in a rude way, but they kept asking us nicely to leave as soon as possible. I understand it is busy, and we were seated early, and they say it's a 2 hour slot, but we were pressured into ordering food constantly and being nicely told to leave starting at 2.10 even though we were seated at 12.30. We might have ordered dessert, but just looking at the staff's concerned faces, we decided against it. The stress of ordering was a bit overwhelming, so I knocked out one star. Edit: Hey Nina, we were a party of 4 just to clarify, not a party of 2.

Definitely go! The food is incredible and the atmosphere is dark and smokey in the best way, you know the food is going to be amazing as you can see the meat grilling as you pass the kitchen. The wings are the best I’ve ever had and everything else was delicious too. Order a little more than you think you want.

A beautiful place to eat great meat and more! One of our favourite dishes was the aubergine, cooked 24 hours and topped with feta, spring onion, red miso and cashew nuts. A flavour bomb!' Besides this, we tried the pork ribs (sublime and super tender), the brisket (indescribable softness) and the fries with garlic mayonnaise. In addition, the staff welcomed us and treated us professionally, always being friendly, nice and prepared to answer any questions about the menu. I would go back another 1000 times!!!

Had an excellent meal at The Plateau. It was a little difficult to find above Waitrose, but once there we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful. My wife is celiac so they made every effort to make sure her needs were taken care of. The quality of the food was very high, tasty and cooked to perfection. The ambience of the restaurant is very pleasant, particularly on the balcony overlooking the square. Finally they treated my daughter to a birthday surprise at the end, which was totally unexpected and a lovely touch. We will definitely be going back and I'd thoroughly recommend this little gem to anybody.
