We had the chicken wings, charred belly pork, fries, slaw. The waiters are nice and pleasant. Unfortunately there isn’t a sign which I could find outside. Inside is very dark, if you get a seat in the unlit part of restaurant then impossible to read menu. Bring a torch.

Fuí con mi hijo a probar comida barbacoa tipo americano. El sitio bonito, mucha gente, camareras amables, pero la comida me pareció decepcionante. Es verdad que habiamos visto videos de youtubers y teniamos las expectativas altas. Probamos la salchicha, 8 libras, aceptable nada mas. Alitas con exceso salsa y sin sabor a barbacoa. Costillas ternera, no las había probado, descubrí sabor muy fuerte no me encantan ( si me encanta la carne madurada) Costillas cerdo, estas buenas. Les pondría un 8 pero de nuevo exceso salsa y las del Lidl en mi barbacoa les doy una nota sorprendentemente similar. Brisket esto si, muy muy bueno. Pero el resultado fué algo decepcionante de media.

If I could I would rate this 'restaurant' zero! Me and my girlfriend went to this place for lunch on Friday night, we were seated in this table that was the most tiny one that i've ever seen, I felt very anxious but overall we are in London, so not complaining too much about this. Behind us there was a group of 10 people roughly, they were completely drunk, screaming and singing for like more then an hour, we asked them to calm down because I think that's not the behaviour to carry in a restaurant, they started to swear at us f many times, we complained to the waitress and she smiled at them and said that she was not able to help us, the food was ok but overprice, the place seemed a pub, noisy, smelly and chaotic. I'm writing this review now just because Friday night I was still shaking because of the situation. The general manager came to us and apologised but was too late, our dinner was a disaster, and it couldn't go worst than that! She left her e-mail to keep in touch in case we wanted to go back to eat there but is not going to happen, anyway they asked us if we wanted to move upstairs when we had our food on the table already, no management skills also the waitress was incompetent, i'm very disappointed abd i don't suggest this 'restaurant' to nobody.

This is the sort of place you could walk straight past. It’s on an unassuming and slightly tatty side street and the name of the place is not obvious. Inside on a Sunday afternoon it was buzzing, noisy, hot and smoky. Great! All the food was fabulous, the brisket and pork being absolutely melt in the mouth. But for me the sides were the standout. Incredible fennel and mint salad and the charred kale was also fantastic. Nice service, short selection of decent local beers. They do walk ins, but if it were a special occasion I’d definitely try and book. We paid about £100 for 3 drinks, 3 sides, 3 mains which is good value for London, IMO.

Visited with a friend. Brisket was fatty but had a good flavour, 2 thin slices for £17. Due to the fat, was very rich and didn't seem to have been rendered correctly. Pork belly was served as a rib, and although the sauce was nice, the pork was dry. Lemonade was nice and the chips with aoili was tasty. Overall, not the best BBQ I've eaten and I won't be returning.

My sister and I visited for a midweek lunch and turned up soon after opening because we hadn’t booked. It did get really busy so would recommend booking. We shared chicken wings to start which were absolutely delicious! Then beef brisket, aubergine, chips and charred greens for mains and sides. Everything was very tasty, portion size was good for us, we couldn’t have eaten any more! My sister did have trouble finding the toilet, it was downstairs but you were then faced with a big black curtain and you had to squeeze alongside it to the toilet at the end, all very dark too!

Service was great from the beginning to the end, this deserves 5 stars. However, we were very disappointed with the size of the portions, 2 thin slices of brisket as a main?? Also, please tell the chef in the kitchen to stop adding flake salt to every dish before serving... every dish served was far too salty sorry. Overall very dissappointing, especially because we had high expectations based on the number of positive reviews for this place.

We had our booking yesterday at 3pm for our Valentines meal. Firstly… the food was absolutely fantastic and at the start of the meal, our waiter was brilliant. Unfortunately while we were still eating and only 50 mins into our time slot, the staff decided to have an entire table reshuffle (very distracting and noisy!)… leaving us feeling extremely uncomfortable at a small table in the corner of the room… still eating! We had ordered something else last minute which made our eating time longer… but when we asked if this was possible, the waitress appeared to be fine with it! Had we known we were such an inconvenience and if she’d told us the kitchen was now closed and we’d have happily left after our beers…. Another waitress did apologise but told us that they close from 3-5pm….? I didn’t understand this as our booking was at 3pm and we should really have had at least a 1.5 hours to enjoy the experience before the chaos started around us. I queried this when we paid the bill and the waitress that took the payment was clearly offended by my question and came across hostile and rude. We left feeling a bit disappointed by this experience but I must reiterate that the food was wonderful.

the seating was small and very uncomfortable as it was uneven and low. if you have had good brisket smokestak’s is nothing special some might even say it was very mid for being dry. some would be me. the 30 day dry aged beef rib however was juicy and melted in your mouth upon contact. would recommend eating everything there with the fennel salad to keep the flavour profile clean.

Overall, we really enjoyed our evening. Our Italian waitress was amazing. She was so lovely, the food was so tasty. We started with various starters from beef tartare to ox cheeks, sausage. Main course most of us had beef brisket, but we also had the Rib of beef and pork belly finished off with a really good sticky toffee pudding. Atmosphere is very dark and smoky, which adds to the atmosphere of what you’re getting, and a very busy venue. However a couple of things could’ve been better. One of the waiters was quite pushy, and I think he said it was his last shift, so he won’t be lost of the venue. The menus are really difficult to read really small text, strange font on a small piece of paper. Most of us had to take a picture of the menu to then be able to zoom in to read it. Added to this because it’s very dark in there, it was so hard to actually try to order. We were expecting bigger portion sizes and it would’ve been nice to have a selection platter available The restaurant has lots of tables and chairs pushed together and it felt quite cramped, but that wouldn’t have stopped us. Personally, I really enjoyed the beer on offer 40 brewery. However, a lot of my friends felt it wasn’t to their taste or any of the other beers/lagers available, however I could drink it all day !!! Very hefty 12.5% service charge Which we didn’t end up paying because the waiter was too pushy, and the waitress had gone home. We did leave a tip, just not that level.

Overall okay experience but the prices do not match the food and service you get. The food in taste was enjoyable but we have not been informed by the waitress that they didn’t have buns anymore (I arrived especially for them), thus it was off-putting as we ordered drinks first. And your charity policy is well off-putting by having only a tiny grey disclaimer at the bottom of the menu, I would feel better where the restaurant would donate the money rather than rip off your customers

Terrible experience ! They did Not welcome us , we reserved a table for a very special occasion travelled almost 2 hours to get there , and we find out that the place we were located was a heated space on the pavement (which they called terrace) , which by the way we were super cold and I did ask the waitress for a table inside as I was feeling cold and she said : no one ever complained about it! Anyways if you are passing by do give a try but if you are thinking of a romantic dinner DON’T you will leave the place smelling like a barbecue lol Just to say : at the end we asked to cancel our reservation and went to eat at brew dog !

Beef brisket - apparent signature dish - very underwhelming. For two people we got four slices of brisket, two pieces were a bit tough and the food was lukewarm. £35 for four slices of brisket, almost £9 a slice, a rip-off frankly. The starters were much better: pulled pork bun and crispy ox cheek both very good. Should have stopped there.

Probably my new favorite meat place in London; it’s just insanely good. The food is nothing short of perfection. The great taste of smoked meat is complemented with spot-on sides that bring a balanced acidity to the place. The meat is nicely glazed and of superior quality. The tartare is a must-try, as well as the pork belly. The service is excellent, quick, and incredibly friendly. I waited at the door for less than a minute, during which they apologized a few times for making me wait. The ambience is nice but the place is very crowded and the tables are not spaced out so it’s hard to talk, but that’s probably the only downside. The price quality ratio is great, it seems that the guys forgot about inflation and keep prices steady.

The food was delicious, brisket is not too fatty and well seasoned. However, the portions are extremely small. Plus, we were seated outside were there was an extension of the restaurant covered in plastic and a flimsy door. It was so cold and drafty we had to sit with our coats on and it meant food was getting cold quickly. Staff were rushed and abrubt. We were handed a tray of the mains before any of the starters arrived and had to wait a while. Moreover, no introduction of what our orders were was given— its a customary thing for staff to let you know what the dishes are when they put them on the table, so people know which is which.. especially that they were in one tray. Anyway I don’t blame them I wouldn’t be in the best mood if i had to go in and out in the cold either…

Had a very high expectation of this place after work colleagues recommended it, so I took my food critic to dinner there (my daughter!). Liked the dark and highly energetic environment, however what followed was a culinary delight. Molly (our server) was outstanding - recommending items for us to share. We started with the braised ox cheek and also had chicken wings which were washed down with a coke (for her) and an ice cold beer for me. Amazing! We then had braised steak (buttery to the cut and really deep flavours, we also selected pork belly, fries with a lovely garlic garnish, raw broccoli with bacon bits and sultanas (how they got that to work was pure alchemy!) For dessert we had gelato (a raspberry sorbet). Smokestak didn't miss!! Great food, superb environment, decent value and Molly, you rock!!

Smokesak is perhaps too popular! Thankfully we booked as walkins looked like they'd have to wait for ages. Service was good and the restaurant has a busy and vibrant atmosphere. I guess I expected the food to be amazing and while it was nice.... it just wasn't amazing. The meat was cooked well just lacked a bit of flavour for my tastes. So while I had a nice meal it wasn't the memorable meal I expected.

Loved this place! Love the fact it was mainly small plates as meant we could try more from the menu. The Pastrami with pickles and mustard had to be my favourite from everything we tried 😍 The skin on chips with aioli were delicious and the cocktails were great. It is a very busy restaurant and quite dark in there which made it hard for me to hear/lipread my friend. If you’re deaf or have hearing loss, definitely still visit but try come at a quieter time 😃

My favourite bbq joint in London. The food is always incredible, the meat is delicious, well cooked and full of flavour. I really enjoyed the crispy ox cheek, anchovy mayo | £9.0 brisket bun, pickled red chilli | £11.5 salted baked beetroot, goat cheese, hazlenut (I order without) | £9.5 I’m yet to try the sticky toffee pudding so a reason to go back but hearty food if you’re into meat!

Food is great, tasty, juicy, balanced flavors and the whole restaurant atmosphere gives a whole experience that I found very unique. 👎🏽 I felt the portions were very small, which is probably the only observation from my end, even the drink is tiny (I ordered a soda). But that could be only for me, besides that observation everything else was great, the service, the flavor of the food and the presentation of the plates. Having eyes on how your food is being prepared is something that I really liked, suddenly you see the flames 🔥 coming out of there and lights up all the space. I will recommend the Pork Belly, you can’t go wrong with it 🐷

Initially, locating the entrance proved challenging, and the strong smell of smoke outside raised concerns about the air quality inside. However, once inside, my experience transformed positively. The service was commendable – attentive and efficient. I was offered water immediately, which was a thoughtful gesture. The food overall was exceptional, particularly noteworthy for its flavour. My only reservation pertains to the pricing of the brisket; at £17 for two slices, it felt slightly overpriced given the portion size. Despite this, the overall dining experience was very enjoyable.

we visited smokestak without a booking on the off chance they might have a table available. Luckily they did, out on the “terrace” which is basically the front of the restaurant on the street covered in a kind of mini gazebo. I have to admit if I had made a booking and was sat out there I’d be disappointed as there was ZERO atmosphere out there! No music and the tables are really close together so we could hear EVERYthing the couple next to us were talking about. They informed us they would need the table back at 7pm which gave us 1hr 10mins, we had been so desperate to try the food that we agreed. Our orders were taken and brought out to us very quickly meaning we were in and out within 40minutes! My husband ordered the Ox cheek and beef rib which were both really good, lots of flavour, unlike my Flat bread and pulled pork. The flat bread was just ok but the pulled pork was stone cold, very fatty (skin) and very watery, not enjoyable at all. The girl serving us was either miserable or inconvenienced by our walk in booking… or maybe both! But the whole time we were sat there we weren’t asked for drinks once, all we had was the table water which was brought over when we first sat down. We felt very rushed and not looked after at all, so when the bill came we asked for the service charge to be removed because the service quite simply was poor. It’s such a shame because we were really looking forward ti eating here but it definitely didn’t live up to the hype.

Great BBQ food with great service. Pork belly was the best of the bunch with it's charred edges and was soft and tender. Brisket was juicy. Chickens were good, a bit too much sauce. Ox cheek was tasty too. Food isn't kid friendly but the chickens were a hit with my 3 year old daughter. We just took off he sauce. Would've liked to see a kids chicken wings with no sauce would be ideal.

Truly delicious food, some of the best BBQ I've ever eaten, would definitely recommend to meat lovers! The pork belly is an absolute must have, with some of the pickled red cabbage - as well as the beef rib. Goes excellently with a bottle of Merlot if you like a full bodied red wine. And you can't beat some sticky toffee pudding with ice cream to finish as well. Only criticism is we didn't get any sauces and the restaurant isn't the most friendly for wheelchair users. However, in the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, I'll be back!

Éviter absolument de manger dans la terrasse couverte par temps maussade. Même si lors de la réservation nous avons été informés que nous serions en terrasse couverte, nous avons passé une soirée vraiment inconfortable, humide et froide dans les courants d'air incessant. Impossible aussi de profiter de l'ambiance pourtant stylée du restaurant. Le personnel nous a fait pitié tellement les conditions d'accès à la terrasse sont difficiles. Mais les serveurs et serveuses ont réussi à garder le sourire. Un restaurant sérieux ne devrait pas prendre de réservation dans ces conditions. C'est vraiment dommage de recevoir un avis négatif pour ces quelques tables supplémentaires. Nous avons discuté avec le manager qui est resté de marbre. Nous aurions apprécié un simple geste commercial. Mais rien, business is business.

Food tasty, cooked really well and very enjoyable. But, we were seated at a table for two right near the stairs and it was so uncomfortable! Table tiny, next to the stairs, a walkway, and the exit, people constantly coming past, door opening every five mins with the cold coming in, no where to put your bag as the table was tiny and there was no space under it. Waiters coming up and down the stairs with huge trays, we had to duck a few times to not get knocked out by the tray. Because the restaurant is popular, it was way too many heads for the space. We were also asked three times if we wanted anything else after we finished eating, they wanted us out asap which was very clear and made us really uncomfortable. For those reasons it’s a 3/5 and I won’t be back.

Levels on levels on levels, we are just upset we never added the brisket but we had the beef rib and pork belly and oh my gosh! We will be back soon, the staff were great and very helpful, the decor was very cool and dark, even this charred green salad which was ordered by my gf was absolutely spot on and I’m not really a big salad eater so kudos for that, the chips and aioli was great. Sadly we are not drinking for Jan but we will test out the drinks next time. I’ve been seeing you on YouTube etc for a while now and other places we have tried that are on all the reviews have been a slight let down! You was well worth the visit!! The meat was so succulent and melted! Smoke Stak, is bang on, this place will not let you down! We cannot wait to come back to get that brisket in the mix too. Wish you was in South London lol

Possibly the worst service I have ever received. Booked in at 2:30, arrived 10 minutes before this. Still waiting on two of our party at 2:31 and it was at this point we were forced to order before they had even arrived, allegedly on the request of the manager. Waitress was rude, unhelpful and seemed as if she was making it up on the spot. I’ve managed in hospitality for years and there is no chance in hell you’d instruct your staff force a table to order at their exact booking time with an incomplete party. As a result food came out at different times. Some got their mains before their starters. Place with food still on we’re cleared despite clearly saying we were still eating. Waitress kept leaning over us whilst we were eating and clearing plates just as and when she saw them empty. Back to waitress school I think, undoubtedly the worst dining experience I’ve ever had - rushed in and out in 40 minutes. Real shame, food was nice but overpriced. Wouldn’t return. Wouldn’t recommend.

Great food, lovely service. But seemed to be out of so many items - from beers (both cabs and on tap), to items on the food menu. We had a range of starters and shared a brisket - bone marrow starter was delicious but needed more bread to soak up all the fat / oil from it. Ox cheek starter was fab. Brisket lovely too.

Smokestak, surprised me because as an African-American I reserve the right to be skeptical of BBQ outside the region. I loved their menu curation. The Beef Ribs fell off the bone and the thickness of the sauce was good. The highlight of the experience was the Chicken Wings. The wings were crispy and saucy and they were whole! The sweet and tangy flavor was balanced and elevated with the squeeze of lime giving it a 3-D element taste-wise. The only thing missing is a good ol' ice tea or lemonade. Nonetheless, the experience was great and def recommend giving them a visit.

Servizio cortese e rapido, molto rapido…al punto che ciò che abbiamo ordinato è giunto al tavolo in meno di due minuti dalla ordinazione. Costine con un dry-aged di 30 giorni, buona la cottura ma mi aspettavo un gusto più deciso. Gusto che è stato del tutto assente nel brisket, insapore e anche dosato male di sale nella rubbatura. Nota di merito ai bocconcini di guancia fritti, la portata migliore della serata.

What a disappointment. We had made reservations for 8 people 2 months in advance and were really looking forward to this one. Our highlight In terms of dinner in London, I thought. But unfortunately we ended up in the basement. A small and dark space next to the storage room. There was another group there as well who were really terribly noisy. It was impossible to converse, we just couldn't understand each other anymore. The food, menu of snacks to share was so, so. The meat was on the dry side and had no smoked taste at all. Unfortunately, the eggplant had turned into a kind of mush. This was really a big disappointment for a lot of money. We spoke to the manager about this to no avail. So a warning to anyone who makes a reservation here: Make sure you don't sit in the basement! And order alla cart

It was a great experience. The staff were accommodating and found us a suitable table to keep the pram next too. The food was lush and I found the portions generous. Although the place may be meat oriented, I'd very much recommend a grilled kale side dish. Needless to say everything else was also delicious.

I’ve never eaten anything that tastes as good as what they serve at Smoke Stak. If you’re into your smoked meats look not further. You won’t find better in London and probably the whole of the UK. The beef rib is phenomenal and so is brisket, pulled pork and chicken wings and the service is friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to visit again and try some more dishes.

Came in last night at 5pm ( just opened for service) food was ok but not as good as past visits, was asked if wanted water on the table, we said yes, got our food empty wine glasses ignored by chatting staff at the bar, (11 staff upstairs). Asked for the bill, quite fairly priced apart from the fact that : You add a donation to the bill without informing the customer? You added the bottle of tap water to the bill. ( this is classed as illegal in an establishment selling alcohol) Then your service charge, of which I sometimes pay but always curious if I could pull my own pint and collect my own food from the pass.

Just walking towards the restaurant you can smell the aroma coming from their smoker. The food was absolutely wonderful and the lunch service was speedy. We will be back on our next visit.

On a friday evening ~20:00hr it was extremely loud inside. Bad acoustics and bad quality sound installation with a kind of up tempto techno music. People also very loud because you almost had to scream to have a conversation. If you’re somewhat sensitive for this then this place is not for you. Service wasn’t seamless but but thankfully the friendly and hard working staff were able to move us to a nice spot outside on the terrace. One waiter tried to be funny about me not being able to handle the noise and chaos inside because I look too young for it apparently but honestly it was offending the way he worded it. The brisket was good but the aubergine tasted like gasoline. The chicken was dry. Toilets were also one of the most disgusting I’ve seen at a restaurant, ever. Wouldnt go again :(

The food is incredible, the chef(s) paid real attention to detail, you could tell if something was plated up and it didn't look perfect it never saw the light of day, I had the Ox Cheek with Anchovy Mayo and it was astoundingly good - also a brisket bun with pickled red chili, also incredible - I want to come back with friends so we can order the entire menu between us and try it all, I also had a half-baked cookie with hazelnut sorbet to finish and really enjoyed it. The waiting staff were incredibly busy but I still felt well looked after, and it was really nice to see lots of other people here really enjoying their meals, a worthy recommendation from Ed Gamble and I will be back!
