Really good value for money great food fast and friendly staff

The place was fantastic about 15/20 years ago, never been the same since, bitterly disappointed every time I visit. Winter be back , shame

Amazing food, ordered the full works, fish & chips, naan mixed kebabs, pies, salad and scallops. One of the best chip shops I have been too in a long time.

The fish was cooked so tasty . And the chips melted in your mouth . We also had a chicken nan it was tasty . Our family enjoyed all the food . Would recommend to everyone . Definitely five stars .

Enjoyed the Haddock, chips, curry sauce and salad from this chippy this afternoon. Gets my vote for 'best chippy in town'. Get yourself down there you won't regret it!

Been going here last 30 years always been the best in Cov but I have noticed that the Donner meat isn't as good as it used to be tastes almost like plastic and very rubbery.

Went in paid for a bag of chips there machine said not authorised so check my bank and it said clearly paid I showed and the guy said its not I showed him and said it clewr says paid so he wants me to pay again and if it takes twice he will refund me poor customer service

Nice place, I had the fish and chips the fish was beautiful, hot and fresh. The chips were also hot and fresh. I had this meal bought for me so don't know exactly the price so can't comment on that, however I would recommend this place. 👍

Purchased a mixed kebab with salad on a tray with chips ,the meat was undercooked and lukewarm at most also very fatty ,Chips were pale and ended up throwing it all in the bin !! Used to be a very good shop but the last twice wished I had not bothered , Will not use this again .

Being going to this chippy since was a child. It's changed hands many times but the owners don't open late and isn't open on a Sunday anymore which is a shame. Other than that can't fault it.

been going here for ages great food but theres a new guy here cooking the food and its not good he who served me a pie and chips special last night , (obviously been reheated many times ) as i had bad stomach pain within 30 minutes of eating it and been throwing up all night and on the toilet 🤑🤑🤑 definatley will avoid in the future now

Partner just went to get food from the Venus they are Too happy with salt spent nearly £20 will defo avoid like the plague what a waste of food 2 fish n chips mushy peas kebab meat n chips I am not happy, what a waste of good money and food so disgusting feel sick only tried a lil bit of fish and 2 chips mouth is burning

Been here last week I got chicken doner in batch it was so delicious and well cooked , Also tried their fish it always on top fresh and crispy . The place is so clean spotless which impressed me a lot .

Great Fish/Chips bar. Tasty, freshly cooked with variety of different foods, large portions. Friendly and attentive staff.

Not massively impressed by the quality of this Fish shop or its prices, A kebab at £8!!! I ordered mixed meat and chips in a tray but received only donor, I asked them to change it and the server refused - luckily I had not yet paid, If I had I would of no doubt not received my mixed meat and chips! He then proceeded (out of view of myself may I add) put the tiniest bit of chicken on the top, which I discovered when I got home - I only gave this a try as the usual shop I use in this area (a stones throw up the road FYI) had just closed for the evening. Not happy with the underhand way this was done so won't be going back again!

The Indian guy with bold head with out the glasses always gives people old cooked Fish not a fresh fish!!! The batter is Hard so a the Fish meat I had food poisoning!! Disappointed!!

Was on the way to the cbs arena midweek thought ile get my tea local hadn't been to the Venus for many a year.main points I was very happy chips plenty delicious steak and kidney pie lovely .average prices. Clean and well served with a smile .I eat the lot well recommended for the food the service. In general a whole excellent experience .highly recommended.

Awesome chippy. Fresh fish and Amazing chips. Very little if any grease on the chips. Always fresh and boiling hot and the perfect combination of soft inside and slightly crisp outside. The staff and the owners couldn’t be more helpful to customers.

I travel the uk, have done for over 12 years, being a northern boy I love a good kebab and this is the best by far I have had for price and portion size I can’t see me finding a better one ever. 👌

I always go to the Venus Fish and Chips Shop, there no other chip shop that can beat this place. The staff are helpful happy and professional, really good customer service. The fish and chips are lovely crispy and fresh the Kebabs are lovely and you get your moneys worth. You can tell the staff in the shop are on the ball when it comes to keeping the shop clean and tidy and working in the catering industry, l can tell that the oil is changed regularly. If you want to eat the absolute best Fish and Chips 🍟 in Coventry go to the Venus.

Just moved into the area and looking for a decent chippy after using Binley Mega chippy for many years. Disappointed after reading the good reviews. On the plus side the portions were a good size and a fair price. Unfortunately the chips were dry and what I would call reheated. Haddock was cooked to order and the batter was undercooked. Hopefully just a one off. Will give it one more go and then vote with my feet.

Inconsistent fish first time was very nice second visit fish was thin dry and all batter little fish at nearly a fiver a time expect much better. I won't be playing pot luck again.

If you want a great selection of food at a reasonable price, this is the place to go. From happy meals to full meals plus extras, you can't go wrong

Been going here for years. Used to be a fantastic friendly place. It has recently changed hands. The new management here are the beginning of the end. The service is extremely poor. They are all over the place. There's no friendly environment anymore you are being rushed out the door. The portion sizes are significantly smaller for the same price as the previous management. One of the managers is extremely sheepish and mutters you cannot hear him. Tonight was my last visit to the venus. I wonder if it will be another hairdressers soon Addition to my original review. I wouldn't pay a lot of attention to the opening times on here. It says open for evening service at half past 4. I went to the post office a week or so ago not on a bank holiday or trade effected day. It was shut. That was at half 5.

Hits and miss chip shop! Had one the other week and it was delicious. Had one tonight 5/11/18 and it was absolutely disgusting!! Fish was chewy, saveloy was like mush and the chips were hard! Will not be using it again! Had one nice one out of about 4 and this is since it has been taken over.

Me and my family have been going to this chippy for years and years, it use to be the nicest chippy around now it’s awful since it’s been under new management. Chips taste awful, they’ve changed the recipe for the fish batter, wouldn’t recommend this one anymore.

Yesterday was the first time I've been in since being under new management, wish I hadn't bothered. Chips tasted awful, smaller portions to. Think its the first time I've ever been in and served straight away, place was dead. Disappointing.

Overpriced since there's a chip shop that's just as nice 2 min walk away 9.60 for 1 large chips and pasty and 1 reg chips and sausage either I got overcharged or they are stupidly overpriced either way shows staffs ignorant

Unhygienic they dont wear gloves whilst handling food so everything is cross contaminated .kebab i ordered was very salty and slimey.

I love this chippy! Lovely fresh hot big chips and good mini fish portions( £2.50 ) could eat this again as they were that scrummy
