Venga in North Somerset

Wonderful mother's day lunch , free glass of wine for the mothers was a lovely unexpected treat. The food was fabulous, they were very accommodating with my allergies. Staff were all lovely.

Held daughters 18th, was fantastic setting, despite extreme cold outdoors it was surprisingly warm in the garden. Decor was perfect, staff friendly & very helpful. Everyone had an amazing time.

We had an outstanding experience at the New Year’s Eve party. Venga couldn’t have done more to make it a thoroughly fabulous evening

Fabulous tapas bar in portishead. Food as good as mainland Spain. Excellent variety and all well cooked and presented. Special mention to Isabel our order taker. Nothing too much trouble for her. Even helped my partner to a different seat for her bad back. A real asset to this tapas bar. Highly recommend this tapas bar

Been going to Venga for 7 years and food and service is consistently first class. At the moment, Venga are opening Mondays and Tuesdays and using a pop up restaurant provider as an alternative to the always excellent Spanish cuisine. Tonight it was Saucy Griller and we had a sumptuous burger, fries and onion rings. Not really appropriate to call it a burger. It was a first class steak in a bun. Lovely!!

I go here regularly with friends and we always have a great time! The food is good and the drinks are plentiful too. The staff are always friendly and it’s always busy with a nice atmosphere. I’m glad somewhere like this exists in Portishead!

We hired out the private room for Sunday lunch, there was 16 of us, what a lovely room, excellent service, very friendly staff, food was amazing will highly recommend and will definately return

I hired the upstairs, outside part of Venga for the annual tennis party. The event was very well organised and the staff were all excellent and nothing was too much. The paella and risotto were delicious and our vegan and gluten free requirements all met. The DJ was great too. I would recommend hiring Venga for an event.

Booked following Tripadvisor reviews, excellent find. Best tapas I’ve had in a long long time, very fresh, great service and good value. The gambas pil pil is a must. Looking forward to next time.

Zero service we were ignored for over 5 mins by the manager and the barmen who had his back to us. Not even a hello. We left!!! They weren’t even that busy.

I reserved the garden area for a birthday celebration with friends. Gill at Venga was great with managing the booking and the venue is beautiful. We ordered paella for guests which everyone enjoyed and the bar staff were brilliant. Once the garden had closed we were able to join the main bar until 2 am. We all had a great night and would recommend Venga for a private booking.

Fantastic new menu guys! The new fish pie was to die for and the fish tacos were absolutely excellent!!

We stayed in the Loft for a few nights. Really comfortable stay. Gorgeous beds, lovely decor, fab facilities. Great location. Really helpful and accommodating, thank you for a fabulous stay, we will definitely be back.

Came for an evening meal with family coming over from the US.Easy to book and a lovely welcome. Very good service from waiters and nice ambience.We ordered 2 tapas each plus chips and 2 bottles of white wine between 4 of us. The quality of the food was excellent, so we ordered a dessert dish, which took a long time coming, so we weren’t charged for it.Total cost came to £30 each for the meal which is not cheap, but it is very good quality!

Food was alright, not the best tapas I've had. We were missing a dish from our order that took a long time to come out once we told staff and they then bumbled about trying to sort it.The "secret garden" in the back is really lovely and has heat lamps. We were quite unceremoniously turfed out when our hour was up (I understand having times for the table but seriously it was "get up and go"). It was all very rushed and not the relaxing, good time we were looking for.Then on the way out, we did not see any signs showing to use the side exit and instead went to go back through the main front door which is where we came through at the start of the night. Two male staff members, rather than ask us to use the side exit, shared comments between each other saying "It would be nice if people read the signs" and other passive aggressive remarks on their way into the staff/kitchen area. Safe to say we felt that was not appropriate after spending a decent amount on food and drinks for 4 people.We will not be coming back.

What a wonderful time we had at the Venga garden to celebrate a big birthday. The festive decor created such a beautiful backdrop & atmosphere for our gathering. Gill and the team could not have been more accomodating, thank you Venga x

We popped in because it looked so inviting. A lovely warm welcome in this lovely warm well appointed Bar/Restaurant. The staff were excellent and the normal Tapas Menu was replaced by Vietnamese Street Food. We went for the Satay Pork and had cooked greens on the side - it was fantastic. Cooked outside brought ot us inside and just really lovely food, service and atmosphere. Great choice of drinks too

We would like to thank Venga for a fantastic evening in the secret garden. Tapas party menu was excellent and so much food! Would recommend the venue to anyone looking for a safe environment during Covid. Happy Christmas to all the Venga staff 🎄

Easily the best Sunday roast in Portishead. Every individual food item on the plate is cooked to perfection, and the portions are soo generous, we left stuffed!The team at Venga are very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. You won’t be disappointed I promise.

Great dinner here last week and have visited many times. We sat in the beautiful garden and were treated to a great selection of tapas dishes. The service was very friendly and the staff engaging. We were lucky enough to see a copy of the new menu which looks amazing. Can’t wait to try it!

The service staff in this place are exceptional. They are polite, well mannered and went out of their way to accommodate their customers needs.However the management this evening were atrocious, he belittled his staff in front of paying customers to an extent that I would not accept. This compelled me to apologise to them directly for his unprofessional conduct.

Thank you Venga for the most amazing afternoon - from the moment we arrived Ryan welcomed us and showed us to our seats the Prosecco and Sangria flowed continuously and Ryan and Rocco made sure our glasses never emptied during which time Campbell cooked and served the most amazing selection of Tapas both hot and chilled served with fresh bread, gorgeous paella the dishes just kept coming and selection fabulous. I was very lucky to have done 3 bottomless brunches over the Bank Holiday weekend. Venga did not dissapointVenga was absolutely fabulous... staff Daniel and Blake were great and the food phenomenal. I feel terrible not mentioning all the staff, who were all really on point. The team really are a true asset. I should also mention Ryan who is bang on, on every visit. An amazing Sunday afternoon. Great venue, excellent vibe and the DJ was an extra special touch. Having dined here 3 times over the previous couple of months I didn't think it could be topped!!! IT WAS. I cannot wait for the next occasion! Thanks again for a super day!!

I had such high hopes for this place. Booked for my partners 40th birthday ( which wasn’t acknowledged) we order calamari, bread with dips, prawn crochets, braised fillet steak and patas bravas to begin with. The beef really needs to be eaten as soon as it arrives because when it goes colder it drys out. The bread and dips were lovely as was the calamari but the prawn crochets turned out to be cheese and ham with no prawn available to correct ( although we were still charged) and the patas bravas had way too much smoked paprika in the sauce. The beer was lovely though as was the waiter. Possibly a bad night?!?

A BIG thank you to Campbell, Scott and his team, for being such amazing hosts organising everything, the food was fantastic, we were made to feel special guests, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this venue to anyone thinking of having a party. Mark Purnell

We had drinks and tapas in the rear courtyard, service and food were both great. Music was chilled, and the cocktails were great.

Visited on Saturday night and we managed to get a lovely table in the garden for 2. They were introducing new menu items so we gave the grilled mackerel ago!! OMG it was amazing. We are regulars at Venga and have watched the place take on all challenges Covid has thrown at them. We hope to be regulars for many years to come. Keep up the good work Ryan and the garden team.

A lovely little spot in portishead that is dog friendly on the terrace outside. The food was delicious and plentiful for tapas. The portions were huge! The staff were friendly and attentive. We appreciate that most of the staff are new and are still learning, but did a great job overall. One little tip… don’t clear all glasses when one person is still drinking. Would return.

Having experienced our own company’s Xmas outing cancelled due to Covid. We were delighted by Venga’s novelty idea to still celebrate it in June, and not just that it was amazing to see how all the staff had really gotten behind the idea for the day and were so spirited - one was even dressed as Santa! Also notable was the lovely Xmas roast, the turkey was not dry at all; the fantastic decor, no expense was truly spared and they even had a snow machine running outside; and the delightful service always with a smile.We will definitely be returning to this winter wonderland come Christmas!

This was our first visit to Venga since lockdown ended and what a real treat. The Sunday lunch was spectacular, perfectly cooked lamb and pork with crispy crackling. The roast potatoes were so crunchy with a no paprika twist and the sides were fresh and vibrant, perfect with whichever protein you choose.The wine list is extensive with something for everyone, we chose NZ Sauvignon (Duke) which was perfectly chilled. The team were friendly and attentive, catering for your every need. Hats off to the chef and kitchen team for producing such an interesting and delicious Sunday lunch. Highly recommend the Chiros with chocolate sauce to round off your lunch. Excellent job Venga team. See you soon

Second time I have visited for Sunday lunch and I have to ay the best one I have ever had, Loved the Spanish twist and the size of the portions were impressive. A large selection of veg and spicy roast potatoes which are amazing.As always the service and hospitality at Venga was great, even with training of new staff with Covid re opening. Get booked in I cannot recommend enoughLastly good wine list The Italian True Zin is a winner and a bargain at £23 a bottle

My partner and I popped in for an early Friday night date. We had a lovely evening. Drinks were flowing, wait staff were lovely and attentive but not overbearing, food was delicious! As someone who has worked in hospitality during the COVID pandemic, it was lovely to see how on top of things the staff were, with sanitising of tables, social distancing, masks being worn, and check ins being asked for by each guest. Well done Venga, we will be back to sample a bit more of your menu!

Glad to be back, Sunday lunch is still amazing and the warm sunshine’s called for some cocktails. Lots of new faces at the weekend though, we will miss the old characters. Keep up the great work Venga, you made it through!

New to Portishead and heard good things about Venga. Unfortunately I was very disappointed staff not very attentive at all. Didn’t clear the table after food for a good 30 minutes and was hard to get a hold of during service. Was then told we had 20 minutes to have our drinks and was wanting dessert when asked how long this would take they said 15 minutes which obviously left us no time to even order it. They seemed to be very sad and just moping around which was a vibe killer. The food was ‘ok’ not very authentic at all. The calamari is frozen and was much like you get at the chinese cheap and rubbery. When I told the waiter of this his response was ‘right’ then just walked off to the kitchen. The only good thing was the Sangria and olives which we could not fault that at all.

So lovely tonight to once more visit the wonderful venga , my wife and I enjoyed some tapas, cocktails, and a couple of lovely Spanish beers! Cam and Scott as always made us feel very welcome , We will return for a meal and more drinks the very first chance we get with our daughter who as a typical fussy 15 year old , adores the food here. many thanks again .

Fabulous food, kids meals great, delicious cocktails, easy to order online and arrived on time. Would 100% recommend.

Had spotted Venga on Tripadvisor as we were looking for a place to break our journey. Reviews looked great and were absolutely justified. Because of Covid restrictions, they messaged us to arrive 30 minutes earlier - wasn't a problem. We stayed at the Premier Inn and had a pleasant stroll via the Marina to get there - took the more direct route back. Staff were very pleasant - we had a booth for the two of us. Service was excellent. Lovely bottle of red wine and great tapas, finished with Churros and chocolate - food was piping hot, very fresh and absolutely delicious. Asked wife what she thought the bill would be - it came in about £10 cheaper - so definitely value for money. Thoroughly recommended and if we head for Cornwall again we will definitely do the same.

Visited 18 October 2020 for Sunday dinner. Food was absolutely stunning. So tasty and absolutely good value for money. Would 100% recommend for a Sunday dinner with a bit of a twist.

stayed overnight in Portishead on way to Cornwall. never been before its a nice place. We just walked past here and were impressed by how it looked so booked a meal for later that night. The staff were great and totally covid 19 compliant. The tapas were lovely - very nice meal

All in all our visit was great! This was my first time at Venga and it did not disappoint. The cocktails were incredible!!We wanted to try a lot of the menu, one of all the meat platters and a variety of other dishes. Unfortunately they had sold out of all but 1 meat and also didn’t have a lot of the other main dishes like meatballs, paella, bacon croquettes & beef.The food that we did have however was great and really tasty - I recommend the prawns and the omelette! The manager did give us an extra dish on the house due to the limited options which was really nice. We will definitely be returning to try more of the menu and I cannot wait to have another Venga mojito!

The secret garden is so gorgeous, never been before and wow... stunning! The service was excellent, from beginning to end and the sangria was the best I've had since I was in Spain 2 years ago! We Felt really safe, the hygiene is brilliant. Everyone kept in their groups so it didn't get out of hand, like other places I've been.such an awesome night!

Telephoned to book a table which was confirmed, after driving 30 miles to get there and to be seated , we were then told they didn’t have enough veg as needed for a larger party later . Fortunately we walked to aqua which was quite busy but were able to accommodate us for a lovely two course Sunday lunch . Venga this is appalling customer service .

Spanish Sunday lunch - 30th August. What an awesome meal! We cannot speak more highly of, or recommend more, this fabulous roast. The meats were cooked beautifully and the flavour was great. Portions would feed even the hungriest of people. But the vegetables had a starring role too. Everything with a Spanish twist. Perfectly cooked and delicious. The truffled manchego cauliflower cheese was so scrummy. Staff, as always, were super friendly, even behind their masks, and they looked after us royally. Thank you Cam and Scott for the best Sunday lunch out ever.

We went for dinner at this lovely Spanish restaurant and enjoyed tapas, paella and sangria. All served by lovely, friendly, professional staff. The food was delicious and the covid measures they had in place made you feel safe and comfortable. Would definitely recommend it.

We are frequent dinners of many local establishments and booked into Venga for a sunday roast.We were so impressed with the presentation and quality of the meal,we had lamb which was amazing and plentiful with an interesting selection of vegetables. Excellent value for money, we would happily have paid more for this quality.

Visited venga at the weekend for the first time since reopening and enjoyed some amazing cocktails and tapas on their front terrace. We had later reservations which changed and the venga team were brilliant shuffling their bookings around to facilitate us staying for longer than we initially planned.Full table service these days as we cant walk around the venue but they have done their very best to keep everyone safe. The tapas was delicious but its the cocktails I love the most!

Let’s talk Sunday lunch... Absolutely outstanding in every way- the service was very attentive Without being intrusive, the food we simply cannot fault- at £17.50 per roast some may find that expensive- but you not only get quality but quantity too- the food was plentiful- large portion of quality meat, various different veg (cauliflower cheese included in the price) so much too choose from- it’s a Spanish twist on the British classic Sunday roast, so the food was brought out on various different boards and plates for sharing- this made things relaxed- and even with current covid restrictions we didn’t feel rushed At all- it was a really enjoyable experience- we’ve been out a few times since lockdown eased and this was by far our best experience. What Campbell, Scott & team have done to the garden is absolutely beautiful, and although my partner doesn’t like to eat outside- this isn’t a ‘pub garden’ it is a fully covered/heated area that feels properly like the inside of a restaurant. Of course you have the option to eat inside- but we’d both recommend the garden every time. We left feeling truly stuffed and can’t wait to return. Thanks team- a job well done!

Delicious food and fabulous surroundings. First night open after lockdown and these guys have it all sorted. Superb food and excellent service delivered to our table in the cosy covered garden made us all feel completely at ease and thoroughly enjoyed our first night out in some time.

Global pandemic lockdown and Venga have stepped up to the plate and nailed it! Delivery was on the button and the food so good we ordered 2 weeks running! One of us is a coeliac and we were very glad to see even more options available as gluten free - including great meatballs and melt in the mouth beef in Pedro Ximenez. The tortilla and the cauliflower, both with aioli were perfect - all in all a real treat. Well done and thank you to Campbell and Scott!

We have been huge fans of Venga since giving it a go after we viewed our first house in Portishead. Nearly four years down the line we don't get to visit nearly as often as we'd like to anymore as we now have a toddler! However, thanks to you adapting impressively quickly to this strange world we currently find ourselves living in, we're now able to enjoy your food at home.Needless to say we love it! We've had delivery three times now and been very happy with the quality of the food. The service is also excellent and completely contactless, if anyone is concerned. I love that we are able to support a local business at the moment and enjoy great food. My particular favourites are the cauliflower (This coming from someone who won't touch the stuff usually!), the braised beef and the paella.Thank you Venga.

Venga has regularly been my go to bar for a weekend tipple. I think it is fantastic that they’ve been able to keep going with a great delivery service to keep us in the Venga family during the lockdown blues. Gorgeous food, generous portion sizes which were super delicious. All delivered with a nice chilled beer. Top marks guys *****

We miss venga at the moment so decided we would have a Sunday evening home delivery, the food was lovely , really well cooked and arrived right on time and piping hot .. well done venga for providing the community with this service during this difficult time.. we will look forward to the next delivery.

In these lockdown times we decided to have a family Saturday takeaway meal from Venga. We had 3 separate orders delivered to 3 separate addresses at 3 different times. All delivered at the requested times, all piping hot and all absolutely delicious. Every family member more than satisfied. Can definitely recommend. Well done guys at Venga , you came up trumps.

The atmosphere was good, the meal tasted nice however the portion sizes were pretty small. A beer & double gin and tonic was over £20 and 3 small tapas dishes came to around £15. Again the taste and atmosphere were good but for that price, I'd expect a lot more.

Wonderful venue for any occasion, Scott and Cambell are brilliant hosts. Scott who cooked all the food and made birthday cake done a fantastic job and left everyone full and very happy and Cambell who was front of house meeting greeting and making sure everyone was happy. The atmosphere was superb. Would rate it 5 star and will definitely be returning there

Been to venga when we lived in portishead and it was always amazing. We now travel from wales as we love this place so much and stay in the loft (apartment upstairs which is part of venga) We love the food and lovely wine choice that they offer. Cam and scott are always soo welcoming and cant do enough for you.You must try the paella, yummy yummy. Cant wait for are next vist. See you soon guys xx

Went to venga in the private function rooms for a friend's 40th. Their attention to detail was fabulous and communication pre, during and post event was second to none. We had to make some last minute changes and they were super accommodating. Drinks and food are amazing! Thanks Venga for helping us celebrate in style.

I celebrated my birthday with a group of 12 friends at Venga recently and we all had such a fantastic evening. Campbell suggested we use the private dining room upstairs and when we arrived we were blown away at the interior decor. The service was perfect and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate the most delicious tapas and drank the best cocktails in North Somerset - a perfect birthday with friends! I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Would totally recommend the chocolate orange martini made by Ollie Wilkins! Tastes amazing & quite festive! Venga has a lovely atmosphere- not too busy and Christmas music in the background. Staff were friendly which contributed to the lovely atmosphere!

These guys made us a brand new whisky cocktail which was Ollie’s homemade recipe it was a smooth yet delightful whiskey based cocktail and captured below is the chocolate orange martini which if you love a cheeky terry’s you will adore this drink.

Been here a few times when working away from home and really enjoy it. Its really chilled out, you normally are in there with a couple of friendly locals enjoying patter with the bar staff. The place is really well decorated, the menu is really well put together for orders and there are some really decent Tapas options. The bar is fully stocked, including for designated drivers with Spanish san Miguel 0. Really like this place and will be back in the future.

Campbell and Scott provided a fantastic Spanish themed food and drink for our party for 80+ people to celebrate my birthday at home. Freshly cooked Paella, Tapas and a bar. The food and service was excellent highly recommended.
