Vegan Vice in Cambridge

We went here recently and ordered the burgers and milkshakes. They were amazing. Great vegan food and good atmosphere

Yummy vegan loaded burgers, absolutely delicious, lots of options, Smokey peanut butter sauce, cheesy option and tasty chips!

We had spent money on drinks and food (which never arrived without prompting), when one of the barmen approached our table stating that they apparently had an event on that night and we should therefor pay our bill and go!!! Soooooo rude!! Needless to say we are still here and won’t be going anywhere soon!!!!

To start the food was good and did impress ! Atmosphere was ok for a quieter night. Was a little disappointed after finding out no cocktails after a change of ownership. Seen as they use to be really good. The second let down was there seemed to be a lot of staff just walking around and sitting around doing nothing even though there were clear jobs to be done eg. Wiping the sticky tables. Third massive let down was the toilets, mens being out of order meaning I had to use the disabled toilets. Which had flooded floors and slippery door handles. My girlfriend informed me she didn’t even want to use the toilets seen as there was looked like vomit round the rim and sh!t left in it. A lot of the outside furniture was broken and made it look a little run down. Over all the chef still has incredible skills and can still be an incredible hot spot. However it just needs the staff to get in gear and clean up sort it out and look busy!

We had burgers and chips. Burgers arrived cold, chips arrived long long after the burgers. Burger itself tasted ok but the bread was soggy and the salad wilted. Service was poor (forgot one of the drinks, had to ask for a napkin, generally gave the impression they weren't bothered. Also not in the least concerned when informed that the burgers were cold). It's a pity because i could see a place like this doing ok, it's in a good location near the University. And the food could be ok with a bit more care, if they can get the basics right. But you can't charge these prices for burger and chips and serve up this cold soggy mess. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but in a place like Cambridge there are too many better options to warrant a second chance.

The place is a bit of a style mix, with some punk elements, some 80s retro and some American diner thrown in. The burgers were really interesting vegan options, not the usual "replacements" and since everything on the menu is good for vegs I would totally recommend checking it out if you are looking for the "vice" option of food.

Took about 45 minutes to get our food (Saturday lunchtime) because there was only one chef in the kitchen. The staff did let us know in advance though. I wish I could say the food was worth the wait, but it really wasn't. The plain burger was... plain. If the bun had been a bit flatter, you could've given me this burger and told me it was the vegan Mcdonald's burger and I would've believed you. Same anaemic iceberg lettuce, same fluorescent yellow American mustard, token slice of tomato and pickle. The patty was non memorable so at least it can't have been that bad I guess. The "chicken" strips were just ok. Too spongy, not enough texture/flake. The batter was nice and crisp but it had some strange seasoning in it. The chips were the best part, although they were also spiced a bit strangely. Tasted almost as if they sprinkle them with cinnamon and sugar. I struggled to finish my burger tbh and neither me nor my boyfriend wanted the last chicken strip. I also don't love that everything is served in disposable takeaway containers, made it feel even cheaper. Worst of all, the music in this place absolutely did my head in. It's not just obnoxiously loud, but that specific style of beach/club music with thumping bass and annoying beeping (?) sounds (at least at the time we were there). My boyfriend later called it food for people with "child palate" and that's 100% correct. That friend everyone has who will only eat white bread and spaghetti O's, they'll probably love the food here. My conclusion is, why would you ever go here if you could go to Doppelganger across town?

Popped in after walking past a few times and being intrigued by the outside decor. Only came in for a quick pint after uni as it’s perfectly situated by ARU. I have worked in pubs for 6+ years now and manage a bar myself and can say with confidence I won’t be returning. Charging London prices for a beer that tasted like sparkling water is not okay, whether it’s because there was water left in the lines after cleaning or something else but I have never had a more tasteless lager in my life. Either way, it shouldn’t have happened. Didn’t bother staying for food and found another venue to enjoy an actual beer at. As the other reviews say and I endorse this, the toilets are poorly kept, urinals were leaking and the tap was hanging on to the sink by a thread. It’s a shame because there is clearly a lot of potential here but something has gone very wrong by along the line. The look of the rock and metal themed nights looks fun.

Serving staff forgot our drinks and didn’t bring cutlery. Chips were over salted, chicken strips - coating was good but overall they weren’t that hot. Average vegan food which is overpriced given its quality and overall service experience. I don’t blame the staff, I blame the management for failing to equip them properly. Just go to Doppleganger.

We decided to attend Vegan Vice after trying and being pleased with a takeaway we had received from this restaurant on Deliveroo. We arrived and were pleased to be met with a vibrant, leafy decor and upbeat music. We were seated and given menus to read, however when we enquired as to the range of low alcoholic drinks the server was unsure and had to check… with the result being that they only had ONE bottle of 0% Heineken. As we proceeded to order our food, it became rapidly clear that the waitress wasn’t familiar with the menu itself. We ordered a burger each, some loaded fries and a portion of chicken strips to share. The food came in good time and was well presented, however we had to request cutlery and napkins… we only received one napkin between us. The slaw on the spicy fries was delicious, however the fries themselves were lacklustre and were overpoweringly salty as opposed to being spicy. The chicken strips were delicious and easily the star of the show. The burgers… were bland. Whilst they were presented beautifully, there was a significant lack of flavour and for the price, we expected more. The meal came to £40 in total, (0% beer £4, pepsi £3.50, fries £5.50, chicken strips £7.50, burgers both £9 and an assumed service charge). This felt really rather expensive for what it was that we actually had. On top of this, the toilets were in a terrible state. Dirty floors, seat and sink,

Dad review: We had eyes bigger than our bellies but we smashed out as much of it as possible, as a X-heavy meat eater these burgers, sides and chips hit the spot!! Massive recommendation for anyone who’s got an open minded meat eating friend to get them hook on the plant stuff! (It is a little pricy but I personally think worth it) Daughter review: This place was ingenious start to our surprise from dad. The food was super delicious, the burger was my favourite and it’s normally the chips!!! Son review: Nice fries (he’s lazy)

We had a lovely evening served some very tasty food and loved the pilsner lager too. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful . We will certainly be going back very soon.

I’ll start off by saying that the food was very nice, particularly the fries. However, when you go to the toilet and none of the seats are actually the right size for the toilet so they’re all off to one side, they look like they’ve never been cleaned and there’s actually period blood on one of the seats, it’s a bit off putting. Also what restaurant is charging £1 for ketchup and £2 for mayonnaise?! Wouldn’t go back.

Overpriced. Dirty surroundings and floors, Food nothing like photos. Order dumped on the table in a torn apart takeaway container, with disposable wooden cutlery. Plain chips were heavily coated with I don’t know what, making them almost inedible. Chicken ‘style’ burger was unidentifiable. At least it was hot. Can’t say the same about the toasted brioche roll, which wasn’t brioche, nor toasted. It was also cold. This is barely food, let alone vegan food. I can do better myself with the ingredients in the bottom of my fridge drawer. Shocking!

This is the best burger I have ever had. I never get to eat food like this, but knowing it was all vegan, we tucked right in. The spice mix on the fries, the cheese that melts, the burger sauce, and the flavour of the ‘meat’, it was absolutely outstanding

Staff are very friendly. Been going here for a while now, and every time they never fail to disappoint! Food is tasty and original... made by their own Vice recipes... Great recipes perfected by themselves through time and effort... can definitely taste the change in recipe over time, and it always gets better! Never tasted anything like this before!10/10

The truffle shuffle delight is the absolute best chicken burger I've had in my entire vegan (and non vegan) life. I can't recommend this place enough if you love burgers, amazing food and amazing staff; they feel like friends.

one of the best vegan restaurants out there. friendly service, great food & sorted out the munchies perfectly! ordered a take out meal with my parent's after they had a intense day working, Vegan Vice had our backs fantastic grub good vibes!

Went last year had the best burger ever eaten recently and it's just aweful don't taste the same badly seasoned I don't know what's happened but definitely never eating again here I don't know if had change ownership or changed recipe but don't eat here again if you value money and good food

How these guys do it I don't know or whatever they put in their burgers and sauces but these are literally the best burgers and best food of the vegan world. They definitely live up the the hype- my friend who recommended me to try them at Glastonbury is even going to book them for her wedding . I had the peanut butter bbq burger and also the vegan strips with cherry BBQ sauce SO GOOD (didn't get a picture of the vegan chick'n but it looked like crispy friend chicken) Gutted they don't seem to have a permanent spot but definitely worth keeping an eye out for at festivals...

Hired these guys out after tasting their burgers at glasto, was so excited for them to come and they delivered.... and then some! They really go the extra mile and their set up is on point. Would love to work with tommy again

The sandwiches are very tasty and fresh. The staff is super friendly:) It’s a shame we don’t have them in Sheffield!

I visited Vegan Vice when visiting Cambridge. Great to see the city outlets embracing veganism. I chose the zingy chicken type burger. It was pretty spicy and not unlike the old KFC zinger burger I used to have as a non vegan. It was VERY expensive at £8 for a burger which was served in a cardboard tray. Fries were an additional £3 so not really comparable with omni fast food places. It was quite busy at lunchtime which was good to see and hopefully it does well. I think I'd try a few other vegan places before returning though. It would also be good to see on the menu what the burger was made of as 'meat free' didn't really tell me a lot. I do like to know a little more about what's in my food - was it seitan?

The waiter was very nice and the service was really quick! The "Milk" shake was fanstic, with peanut butter and chocolate, yummy! The french fries and the sauce are home made. The hamburger was juicy and really well seasonned. The price was really fair.

I was really excited to try vegan vice club, but it fell a little short for me. We’ve tried a lot of vegan junk food outlets and although this wasn’t the worst it could have been better. The “chicken” seitan was pretty hard and tough and ours was burnt in places. The regular mayo we ordered to come with it had a weird coconut and lime flavour to it, which didn’t work in my opinion and wasn’t expected as we didn’t order the coconut mayo. We had the original vice burger, the patty was quite tough and the soy was sort of gristly in texture. The burgers were very sauce heavy and the mustard was over powering. We had milk shakes which were nice and the bar was done out nicely, it was a warm day and all the doors were open giving a nice atmosphere. Service was friendly and quick. I would give them another try but I just felt the food didn’t live up to expectations or to other similar places that we have visited.

Took my parents and siblings for a early evening dinner, they’re all full meat eaters and rarely indulge in going vegan places with me. They loved it !! a great portions, the tender crop strips were sooo good.

I’ve been to Vegan Vice a few times, and it’s always great to go back! The burgers are so tasty, the homemade sauces are legendary and you need to try the vice cream shakes! Sides are delicious too and the staff is super friendly!

Visited for lunch on Saturday, could not decide what to go for from the menu but after advice from the very nice waitress went for the truffle shuffle deluxe and original vice. Safe to say these were some of the best meat-free burgers I’ve ever had! Will definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu. Staff were really attentive and service was quick.

Really nice vegan restaurant- the burgers are delicious and some members of our party (non-vegan) said they were better than non-vegan burgers. The sauces are amazing- would reccomend the truffle mayo! The staff are lovely and service is really fast. Great for a relaxed meal with friends.

Not just the best vegan food I’ve ever had, but some of the best burgers full stop! They’ve got the classics nailed but it’s definitely worth trying their signature flavour burgers. The sauces are delicious and the sweet potato fries were perfect - will be returning regularly!

I was shocked at how nice these burgers were. They tasted as good as they look in the pictures which is some accomplishment! My girlfriend and I chose different burgers (Truffle Shuffle & Peanut Butter BBQ) and we honestly couldn't decide which we liked better so we shared them.

Not only is the food yummy, but also there's a nice variety to choose from, be it for mains, sides or desserts. The milkshake was surprisingly delicious, didn't taste like grass at all.

I have frequented a few vegan restaurants in recent years and have generally experienced mixed results. That is not the case here; Vegan Vice stands alone as the single BEST VEGAN FOOD EXPERIENCE I have ever had the pleasure to undertake. The friendly staff and positive vibes of the space are only bested by the stunning burgers. If you are ever in Cambridge go ahead and treat yourself to one of the best burgers you will have had in a looooonng time!

Went especially to the market to try one of their burgers, I’m vegetarian but predominantly eat a vegan diet. The burgers sounded amazing and I opted for the peanut butter BBQ whilst my friend chose the truffle burger for £9. I’ve never actually had a burger that I haven’t liked, I’ll eat anything but I ate half of this one and I left it as I found it awful. There was no BBQ, peanut butter or onions rings as advertised; just raw onion instead and it was just horrible, and was so messy to eat all the filling of was spilling out- lettuce, tomato, tomato sauce, tasteless patty and raw onions, for £8... My friend didn’t like her burger and for charging £17 for two awful tasting burgers with nothing interesting going on and no sides I think is appalling. The stall and their branding looks amazing but the food flops.

A must visit in the beautiful city of Cambridge. Totally opened my mind to vegan burgers the flavours and tastes were amazing. Will definitely be returning to try out more on the menu, that was the only problem, I couldn’t decide which one to go for! Atmosphere and vibe is really cool especially if you are just wanting a quick bite to eat and social. 5*!!!

These burgers are honestly the best burgers I’ve ever eaten and that’s coming from a meat eater! I’ve tried both the tendercrop and coconut tendercrop and both were unbelievably good. You need to try these burgers!!

Had the PBQ burger which was delicious. Their homemade sauces are incredible with loads of flavour! Definitely worth checking out when in Cambridge town.

My El Volcano burger was out of this world!!! So so good. I cannot wait to go back to try more burgers. Loved the skin on fries too and opted for coconut mayo which was delicious! Suitable for both vegans and non vegans alike!

Honestly you can't tell that you're eating a meat substitute. I wouldn't say it is "like" meat but it's so damn good you wouldn't know the difference! 9/10 (I never give 10's) would eat again!

I find it hard to find places my non vegan friends will eat with me. But they all love it here too! The food is fab, and now you get it on deliveroo too. My tummy is full of bpb burgers ❤❤

Hardcore meat eater is forced to have his first vegan meal... and definitely liked it for more than I expected. Could go as far as saying it’s the best burger I’ve had in a while! Absolute gem of a find in Cambridge and hope they spread the vegan love all over the country before long!

I wouldn’t say this lightly, But this was easily the best burger I have ever had. Not even just for a vegan burger, best burger all together. And I have tried a lot! The vegan option is nearly always a burger but is yet to live up to the standard of an epic burger, until I had Vegan Vice! I have tried 3 off the menu and every one is exactly what you want and crave from a burger meal. Crispy, crunchy, full of flavour, fresh, and don’t get me started on their shakes!! 10/10

A bunch of us were back in Cambridge for a reunion and the herbivores in the herd managed to convince us meat eaters to give it a rest and try something new. Really never thought a vegan burger would cut it for me, but to my great surprise the truffle shuffle went above and beyond. As a vegan burger lover, I have tried many an option here and abroad. I can honestly say that this is the best vegan burger I have ever had. I have been 4 times in the last month and a half - which is not just a comment on my lifestyle but on how great these burgers are. Excellent staff, fab branding (super cool style) and burgers to die for!!!! You must go, vegan or not!

I’m not vegan went to have lunch with my girlfriend and I have to recognise the quality of the food, amazing texture of the food, really taste and really enjoy. Never enjoy a burger that much. Well done guys

Said food would be 40 minutes. Eventually gave up after over 70 minutes and no sign of food. Went to Honest Burger instead for vegan food.

Really good and tasty burger and milkshake coconut white chocolate was amazing. The service was kind and fast. We will go there again for sure.

Had a bite of the Volcano too, hot but very nice also. Others had shakes and fries and all happy, choice of sweet pot fries too which is always a winner. Orders at the bar, good vibes

We had a great night, at Vegan Vice. Fantastic food, great service, friendly staff and an inviting ambience. My family or I are not a vegans or strict vegetarians but the food was delicious. I’m really glad we gave it a try.

This place is well hidden but very well sign posted so getting there was no problem at all. As soon as you walk into this place you can tell it's going to be amazing with its funky fresh interior and it's brightly dressed, bubbly and enthusiastic staff. It's menu was bright and instantly told you what you wanted to have as they have a great range of different burgers, sides and drinks to have. As a meat eater I was sceptical to eat here but wanting to try something new and get into "veganary" I decided to come try this new place and I honestly wasn't disappointed as it was filling and jam packed full of flavour. 10/10 people; please keep up the good work. I'll be coming back very soon ❤️

Recently visited Vegan Vice and loved how it different to the ordinary burger restaurant. The food was great and the staff were laid back and friendly.

Really cool Location in Cambridge, nice looking venue with AMAZING vegan food, friendly staff too. Would recommend to all foodies vegan/non vegan. Appreciated the quick service as I was on lunch break. Will be coming back again with more of us as they also serve cocktails all day/night.

Stopped by to try a burger, not being vegan was sceptical at first but my oh MY! Best burger I have ever eaten! Made with heart, crispy and can easily tell it’s 100% fresh! GO GO GO, treat yourself! Very affordable to!

Super burgers in fun surroundings. A hidden gem in the heart of the city, well-worth finding. Beef- and chicken- styled burgers come in a variety of combos with a matching selection of fries and vegan mayos. This is an authentic burger bar experience but entirely from plant-based sources.
