VEG DARBAR in Birmingham

Very nice food but some huge red flags the last couple of times we came here, it's certainly gone downhill! Tonight was a disaster - adding extra items into the bill, stale poppadoms, huge waiting times as they prioritise delivery orders and a hidden 10% tip service charge for 2 people. Given it's already the most expensive Indian restaurant in the area, it's hard to justify the price. Having been a regular for a while I won't be back anytime soon which is a shame as I like supporting places like this but at the end of the day there are many better value options in Kings Heath

Best food in town, I was really really impressed with the quality of food, delicious

Had an amazing meal, 6 of us all had different meals, they were all wonderful, fresh & super tasty, definitively recommend this gem of a place. We bought our own wine, could park outside (after 6.45pm) worth a visit.

Family of meat eaters went to veg Indian restaurant. Lovely food. I had the veg coconut curry. Super tasty, not too much coco, loads of flavour. I tasted 4 other curries, all delicious. Definitely worth visiting. So much flavour in the dishes, superb! Don’t be put off by it being a veg restaurant, really great food and friendly welcome.

Malai kofta curry was very sweet and Naan is small and taste like chapathi.very disappointing and very expensive .

What an amazing find! The best curry house in Birmingham by a long shot and hands down the best curry I've ever had. I'm not even vegetarian and loved the food, the flavours and freshness of the food is incredible. My new favourite restaurant, can't wait to go back! The service from Abu was also superb.

Kings Heath's little gem, went there with four brothers, what a meal. We had a sahre platter, Rajma, lasoni Paneer, dal makhani, nans and rice, we all thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service was excellent. Abu and the other waiter were polite, friendly, prompt and very respectfull. Bumped into the chef/manager outside, great to talk too. We also took a takeaway and again the food was excellent. The only downside on the takeaway was that the soya tikka portion was a little on the small side. Will defo go back to the Veg Darbar.

A delicious meal, lots of variety on the menu so spoilt for choice. All freshly cooked and available in the chilli heat of our choice. We started with the sharing platter which gave you lots of tastes of different things. Very pleasant attentive staff I think after 7 you can park outside.

Great restaurant so nice to have so many options as a group with vegetarians and vegans but everyone enjoyed their food. Particularly enjoyed the started platter and the cocktails were a really lovely touch! Abu was a great host!!

A beautiful evening last night at Veg Darbar, Abu was attentive and kind and did everything to make sure we had a lovely evening. The food was beautifully presented and tasty.. thank you so much, we will be coming back soon!

What a hidden gem of a restaurant. My boyfriend and I decided to come here after randomly walking past it one afternoon. The food was absolutely beautiful, some of the best curry I have ever had. I had the achari bhindi and my boyfriend had the lasooni paneer. I’m vegetarian but my boyfriend isn’t and both of us found our meals incredibly delicious. And the chilli naan was the best naan bread I’ve ever had. Our waiter Abu was incredibly friendly too and made us feel very welcome. I’ll definitely be coming back and bringing our friends next time!

What a great little gem in Kings Heath, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal here on Monday evening, my wife’s a vegetarian but I’m not, however there was plenty on the menu for me too to have an enjoyable meal. We both enjoyed our respective meals and were very happy with the quality and taste of the food and the service provided by Abu was also excellent. Hope to visit again soon.

This was honestly a 10/10 meal. One of, if not the, tastiest and most filling curry I've ever had. A true 'must-visit'!

A Literal dream to have dinner here. Every single thing we had was scrumptious platter, Lasooni paneer, achari okra, Chief’s special daal it was just amazing. I personally recommended to visit once if you looking to have vegetarian food you will definitely love it .

We had a great time for our Mother’s Day celebration at Veg Darbar. The food was delicious and the service was incredible, especially Abu - he was friendly, hospitable and made our evening extra special!

I am not a vegetarian or vegan but very much enjoyed a wonderful meal here. It was full of flavours! We had a very welcoming service by Abu, who was great at recommending chef specials. If I had to critique anything, the yoghurt starter dip is not vegan, so the vegan in our party could only have the chuckney and onions with papadoms. They give a little treat at the end, which is not vegan chocolate.

Abu was a knowledgeable and friendly waiter with excellent recommendations. The food was absolutely delicious, whether it was the starter, main or dessert. If you like meat don't let this deter you from going to this lovely gem in Kings Heath. 5 stars ⭐ We had a great evening, thank you very much. We will be back! From the 5 teachers 👌🏽

Veg Darber has become my go-to curry house in Kings Heath. I'm yet to find anything on the menu that isn't delicious. I can't recommend it enough, whether you're vegan, veggie or omnivore.

I had a really lovely dinner here tonight with bandmates. We chose Veg Darbar as they could accommodate larger than average groups and the menu is entirely vegan/vegetarian. We weren't disappointed with curries and sides packed with perfectly-cooked and seasoned vegetables. I especially recommend the aloo gobi, starter platters (off menu) and mushroom rice. Thanks to Lokesh (sp?) , Abu and colleagues for giving us such a warm welcome. We hope to be back again soon!

Our first visit on the 29th September. Was so good we returned yesterday 10th Dec. Extremely tasty vegetarian and vegan dishes. Lots of variety and choice. The service and value for money was very good. We will definitely be returning.

What a find! Absolutely amazing food, cooked fresh with passion that was evident in every bite. Everything from the poppadom condiments to the best naan I have had was filled with flavour and goodness. The staff are attentive and fun. We called ahead to ask if they had some wine and they actually went out and purchased it for us before we arrived. Now that's service! Veg Darbar is my new favourite restaurant!

Amazing staff. even nipped out to get us a bottle of wine. The food was amazing. taste was fresh and clean. You can tell the freshness, and nothing was too much. I would highly reccomend.

We had a fantastic curry here, best we’ve had in a long while. We both commented on how great it was to have flavourful food rather than the rather bland alternatives from other curry houses.

Amazing find! Was in the area for a gig Sunday night, me and the husband popped in & had the most amazing curry. I'm vegetarian so was so nice having the whole menu to choose from! Also appreciated that they ask how spicy you would like the dish. Service was amazing too, so friendly. 100% will return when we are next in the area

Great menu of interesting vegetarian & vegan dishes. The soy tikka bhuna was perfectly fiery & hot. Top naans & the Kashmiri rice was great. Staff were attentive and kind. Unfussy, easy atmosphere. Very reasonable prices. Excellent choice for big flavours and a meat free meal.

Wife and I came here for a fantastic meal. Wonderful service, food is high quality and reasonable in price. BYOB too. What's not to like? Just FYI bring cash for a tip as they do not support it on card machine. You can still pay by card however. We'll be back!

Wow, we celebrated my son's 35 birthday last night at Veg Darbar. The food was amazing, so fresh, tasty, and not swimming in oil. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. And best of all the food was all vegetarian or vegan. Would I go again? Well that's a no brainer... Yes❤️

First time there, lovely place, very friendly and helpful waiter. Samosas and aloo palak were delicious, very reasonable prices too.

Have been a couple of times now with groups of friends and I will be back - I'm working my way through their menu and everything me & my friends have tried so far has been delicious. I'm not a vegetarian but I really don't miss the lack of meat in their dishes as they are so flavourful. They also have very friendly & helpful waiting staff, reassuring if someone in your party has particular dietary requirements. This has now become my go-to curry house!

What a lovely place to eat. A great selection of dishes, I had paneer sashlik for starters and aloo bengan for my main and both were delicious. All five of us had different dishes and cleared our plates. Atmosphere was lovely and staff were excellent. Take your own alcohol as no licence which was no problem. First visit but would certainly go back.
