Unbelievable experience! Been fortunate to have been to some fine dining restaurants and I can honestly say this has been the best by far , beautiful decor, great ambiance, the attention to detail was all unreal! Wahid, Russ & Tariq all were the most attentive waiters I’ve ever experienced, from pouring water constantly, replenishing our glasses with wine , checking in on us , even with the hot towels followed by hand balm , the place is a must visit , absolutely blown away by the service

Food is so good but service is a bit weird. Took 15 mins to get my bill and there were only 2 other tables apart from us so I don’t understand what took so long, like the guys were just walking aimlessly and cleaning glasses and I asked 3 different people for the bill. Also too dark inside. But the food is nice. I also had a special request on my booking and they never acknowledged it or even asked what occasion it was that we were there for.

Varanasi offers one of the best authentic Indian cuisine experience you can find in Birmingham. Prawns are just out of the world. The ambience welcomes you to a mix of Indian Royalty and Buddhist serenity. Special shout out to Faz - he wowed my 25 business client guests with top-notch customer service. Definitely in my top 5 list for Indian food experience in the UK, not just Birmingham.

I dined at this restaurant with my two friends for our annual Christmas dinner. We were served my Ramisa and Tariq throughout our meal. Both offered amazing customer service. However, a special shout out has to be given to Ramisa, who was only in her first week working at the restaurant. She was very attentative. She was friendly and offered recommendations for meals. Her sparkling personality was one of the highlights of the night. The restaurant was amazing. Not much to look at from the road but what an opulent venue. The ambience was perfect. Loved everything about it. I had tarka deal, steamed rice and a tandoori roti...10/10! 😙🤌🏾 We will definitely be back. Thank you for a brilliant night ❤️

Very disappointed in the service here. Booked a table for 8.30pm this evening and changed it to 8pm a couple of days before. We confirmed this on the day but turned up at 8pm to be told the table isn't ready yet. We chased at 8.20pm and was then told our original 8.30pm booking was being honoured. At 8.50pm we were still waiting after being told that they 'don't lose keeping VIP's waiting'. We were celebrating my mum's 60th so wasn't very impressed by this. By 9pm we still didn't have a table and was still waiting by the bar with no apologies. We decided to leave but still had to wait for the cake we brought my mum which took another 10 mins to be brought to us. The manager Ray was very unsympathetic and told us he'd given the table who had been seated since 5pm the bill but it was out of his control now. The other waiters were apologetic and even offered us 50% off the food and we'd be seated by 9.15 but the manager suggested it was best we left.

The bed Indian food we ever had and ambience is so intense and unbelievable. Special mention to Tareq, for Amazing service. Highly recommend for a perfect dining.

We went on quite a quiet evening though so there wasn’t quite as much atmosphere as there probably usually is. Overall a wonderful dining experience and we will be coming back again soon!

Solo business trip in Birmingham. I was looking to have a nice dinner after traveling all day & going hungry as flight issues prevented me from getting anything at the airport. I googled nearby restaurant to my hotel & found this absolute GEM. First of all the entrance is absolutely breathtaking & I almost thought I was in a luxurious spa. When I got seated, I was blown away by the large dining room where you have so much space in-between tables so no one is gonna bump into you or eavesdrop (though I was alone so did not apply for me). But the best was yet to come with the food: I enjoyed the Kaddouri Chicken Tikka which was so tender & flavorful then went for the Chili Chicken with a side of Palak (got to eat your greens!!!). The meal was exquisite & I received fabulous service from Faz who was very attentive throughout the dinner giving me recommendations & reassuring that if anything was not to my taste, it would be changed. Truly a fantastic dining experience & I know where I’ll eat in my next visit to Birmingham!!!

We have been coming here to Varanasi for four years and each year is better than the year before. Top class each time, what an atmosphere and amazing food and what a lovely Gentleman Faz this time was our host.we had the Shahi menu for £49.00 menu, which was per head. The food was plentiful and really excellent.loved Tarkadal and chicken curry. Faz and his team Adete was very nice and attentive. Faz himself constantly made sure our drink constantly gets top-up .Special thanks from our side to management Ray and Faz for going beyond to make sure we all have a great time.the staff were pleasant. Would highly recommend.

Above average experience in a classy setting on busy Broad Street in Birmingham,where the wood paneled interiors could have done with a tad brighter ighting to enhance the surroundings The restaurant was buzzing on a Friday and as vegetarians we found the menu surprisingly limited. Poppadoms were a little stale and the chutneys need an uplift. We had tandoori paneer ( 4/5) and pani puri (3/5) for starters. For mains the bindi bhaji was delightful, lightly spicy on the palate, almost like a salad ( 5/5) contrasting with the malai kofta ( 2.5/5) which was definitely on the heavier, sweeter side, almost like a dessert. The lacha paratha was perfect, the naan a touch too greasy. Mocktails were imaginative and refreshing, very much steeped in the flavours of an Indian summer. Plenty of noisy waiters, in evidence but attention to service could be significantly improved to reflect the otherwise reasonable pricing. Overall, worth a visit for special occasions.

I came from Bedford on the recommendation of a friend. I’ve had Indian food one other time and I have to say this was the best. Tareq and Alam were fantastic hosts. I came at the perfect and everything was magnificent. I could have asked for a better experience. I genuinely think this was the best restaurant experience I’ve ever had. I will be bringing all my friends and family here in the future.

Absolutely loved everything about this dining experience, from beginning to end , the hosts were lovely when seating us and pulling out our chairs for us , we had received amazing customer service from Tareq and Rasel, they made sure we were taken care of the entire night, and they were very patient with us when it came to explaining the menu and answering all of our queries, the decor was absolutely stunning, warm and inviting , which allowed me to take my aesthetic pictures, on top of that the food was 10/10 , extremely tasty and fresh , the flavour did not disappoint honestly, and again big thank you to our waiters Rasel and Tareq for providing such a kind and helpful service, I will definitely come back in the near future and be recommending this restaurant!!

The decoration of the place was good but the service was absolutely horrible.They were slow,the lamb chops where too seasoned,it took them ages to give us our food and gave us our food one by one but for other people they gave it straight away i have never seen such poor service in my life fix your services and hire new people

Birmingham is suppossed to be the best place for Indian food in England, I've heard. And I have to say this restaurant proves it to be true! Saf, the waiter who served us, the wine, meals, 5meter waterfall, the best naan I ever had, everything was perfect. And the place is huge (3 storeys), even though it looks so ordinary from the street. 👌👌👌👍👍👍

This is one of the most overrated restaurant in Birmingham!! I stumbled upon this restaurant when I searched for high end Indian restaurants in Birmingham. The ambience was great and the people were very receiving. The food was abnormally expensive even for a high end restaurant (eg. biryani was £25). I am someone who doesn’t mind paying high prices provided the food is good. As soon as I crunched into one of the starters (prawn something) we ordered, I knew it was only going downhill from there. The Varanasi curry was so normal that I could have cooked better. The naan was so ordinary that frozen ones could have been preferred. All I thought to myself was ‘Thank God I did not get tempted into ordering the £25 biryani’. Also they charged £6 (I think but it was around that range) for a bottle of water. Make sure you ask specifically for tap water. The ambience is great for a romantic date but the food is double below average. Unless you are someone who believes in ‘high end restaurants must taste good because it is expensive’. Will never be coming back for food. Budget for two: £60-80 on the lower end.
