Had a great time at Varanasi in Birmingham, and the service was top notch, especially from Wahid, super friendly, attentive, and really knew his stuff. He made the whole experience even better, so I’d definitely recommend this place!

Great calming ambiance, food was great (lamb shank was amazing - highly recommend) liked the service I received by the Varansi team especially Wahid.

The food was DELICIOUS and plentiful. Our server was Sophie, and she was fantastic. The ambiance and decor was incredible. All in all a perfect experience for our last night in the UK.

I was disappointed with the food. The butter chicken and paneer were way too sweet, like sugar syrup. The samosas had no real flavor. They used dry ice to make the dishes look fancy, but it didn’t help the taste. For the price, it wasn’t worth it. I wouldn’t go again.

They gave us the best time we could possibly ever have at a restaurant, not to mention how accommodating they really was towards us. Genuinely can’t say one flaw about this place. i go all the time and love the food more and more everytime i go. I absolutely adored the staff and their customer service. we had an amazing experience thank you sophie and everyone else for making it amazing!! we will be back most definitely. thank you to tareq aswell he was ever so lovely. And might i add this is probably the best place to be and also eat at in birmingham!! 1000/10.

Here's the thing, Birmingham is an amazing city, with lots of great eateries. Varanasi is very much up there. The surroundings are spectacular, Sophie, with some assistance from Tariq looked after us so well. Sophie was a diamond and a credit to the establishment. The food, wowza, it blew me and my 5 friends away Thank me later...its that good

All food drinks and atmosphere are undiscribable, picture do not do it justice you have to go to truly appreciate and vale such experiences I'm not spoiling anything here. Go there no regrets. Paying the price we did for mains 2 sides to poppadoms plenty full sauce with it 2 alachlocic drinks and 2 desserts and sharing minus desert due to my allergies they say no but everything else no issues at all. Water served napkins broken on to laps. What you'd expect from a beautiful environment such as this actually felt I was in India itself,food drink environment hospitality has nothing on anywhere else I've ever been before and probably ever go again. Gonna take alot go beat this for sure. From couple you took photos of and previously lady myself here trained in hospitality as supervisor and I said then I have no complaints about it and I say it now. Can't wait to see you again soon. Tareq & Whaied serves our table, very professional and helpful. Music suits the vibe well. A few tables were a bit loud near us. Food tasted great! Very nice setting and layout. The walk from the desk to the dining area makes you feel as though you are in another world.

The best place ever, the food is exceptional, the service is just as good (Tarik was fantastic) The building is beyond belief and we can’t wait to come back next month! Thank you for making dads special day ever more special, everything was perfect as always.

We were visiting from London and looking for somewhere close to our hotel to eat. We were pleasantly surprised by Varanasi. We dined in and the food was exceptional. Our waiter Wahid was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, he recommended the lamb shank and the butter chicken both of which were delicious (give this man a raise or a Bonus). Special mention to Tarque who made sure we were topped up with drinks and checked in on us. The entire staff (including Shah), created a pleasant and welcoming environment. Would highly recommend (and for a 5 star experience ask for Wahid). I will definitely be coming back on my next visit to Birmingham.

I visited Varanasi specially from London to celebrate a special occasion while the ambience was undeniably impressive, the overall dining experience left much to be desired. The restaurant’s decor and atmosphere create a great first impression, but unfortunately, the food did not live up to the expectations. The taste was quite mediocre for the price charged, and the portion sizes were disappointing. What put me off further was the unexpected additional charges—chutneys served with the popadums were added to the bill, and when I requested a Garlic Chilli Naan, I was told there would be an extra charge just to add chilli. Given the already steep prices, these small yet unnecessary add-ons made the experience feel even less worth it. Overall, while Varanasi excels in ambience, it falls short in value for money and taste. If you’re looking for a place with a great setting, this might work, but if food quality and fair pricing matter to you, it may not be the best choice.

I brought my whole management team to Varanasi restaurant and hired a VIP room. The service at Varanasi is unmatched. Faz was attentive, ensuring everything was perfect without being overbearing. His attention to detail made me us feel like really VIP, He went above and beyond, accommodating every request with a smile. He ensured we had everything we needed and made the evening special. This was more than just a meal.I felt like I was on holiday and it was a very delightful experience! From appetizers to desserts, this restaurant exceeded all our expectations! My team especially enjoyed the lLycky Budha was recommended by Faz and chicken Curry. Highly recommended to work colleagues, friends, and families. I LL BE BACK!

Disappointing. To name a restaurant varanasi would think authentic indian cuisine. For a start indian cuisine does not serve halal meat. To all those who do not eat halal keep away from this place.

TBH, i didn’t even wanted to give a star to this restaurant. Firstly service is too bad, as my drinks were sitting on bar for 35 mins and no one took it to our table unless i told server to do it. Secondly food is really bad there is no sense to tadoori prawn when it is not cooked in tandoor. Chicken was too dry, mild no flavour and mains were worst, that i can’t even explain. And forcefully they ask you to order 1 main per person. Even if you are not gonna eat full they will ask you to order, so the bill amount exceeds. Desserts were bad too. On top of that the staff is so slow that you’ll get bored there but they won’t serve you on time. For booking they charge you £30 for no reason, i have been to so many restaurants in Birmingham and London but no one does it. They have clearly spoiled my husband’s birthday. It was soo dead. The ambience is also dead as their food.

So today, I had the best service from this place and I was served by Najma. What an incredible young lady, respectful, with the most amazing smile. You can tell she knows her job. She sat us down where we feel most comfortable. Her incredible professionalism is outstanding! I have never come across someone so good at their job, at the same time, being respectful, always checking if you need help with anything else. I have never seen it since I lived in England. Every question we had, she answered it with a smile, amongst all, her professionalism is on the highest level. This is now my place for an amazing meal and lovely environment with amazing staffs like Najma. I don’t know her position but the way I see her being so good at her job, she must be a manager or something. I have to come back. I have been well served by Najma and I had an amazing dinner. Thank you so much.

I came here on my 23rd birthday (yesterday) and I have to say it’s one of the best places I’ve been to in a while. The interiors are gorgeous and very unique, I love the fact that the waitresses were dressed beautifully. I was speaking to a worker called Shah very kind and handsome!! Very nice service and food ❤️id 100% return !! Very unique and the food again was 10/10 the presentation and the temperature. Mocktails and dessert was beautiful. I would most certainly class this as a hidden gem 💎 but that adds to its beauty !! Lovely.

I recently visited Varanasi in Birmingham, expecting a premium dining experience, but I was deeply disappointed. The food quality was extremely poor, especially considering the excessive prices. Every curry tasted like it was made from the same base sauce, which is unacceptable in authentic Indian cuisine, where each dish should have its own distinct flavors. For a restaurant that markets itself as high-end, the lack of depth and authenticity in the food was truly disappointing. To make matters worse, the toilets were in a disgraceful state. The seats were hanging off, the dryers weren’t working, and the overall hygiene standards were appalling. It’s shocking that a restaurant branding itself as luxurious would neglect such basic cleanliness. The only positive about my visit was the staff, who were polite. However, that alone is not enough to justify the experience. I had high expectations for Varanasi, but unfortunately, the standards were far from what they claim to be. I wouldn’t recommend it and certainly won’t be returning.

We came from Manchester and had a really nice evening, the food was bought out in good time and of course with it being Valentine’s Day, the staff you’d think would be tired and groggy but NO! They were so enthusiastic and very friendly, offering recommendations and even having chats with us. Highly would recommend

Why oh why after investing so much time and money producing exceptional food and scenery that feels exclusive you have such poor service. We continuously chased drinks or had incorrect instructions followed ie hold poppadoms until the other guests arrived and had empty plates and drinks drown the table for over 40 mins. The staff are pleasant enough just lacking execution and service

We visited Varanasi to celebrate our anniversary with our kids, and while the ambience was splendid, the overall experience left much to be desired. Ambience: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The restaurant is housed in a stunning three-story building with elegant decor that sets a wonderful atmosphere for any special occasion. Food: 🌟🌟🌟 The food was decent, but it did not live up to the high price tag. We've had better meals at a fraction of the cost, making it feel a bit overpriced for the quality offered. The drinks were ok, nothing fancy. Service: 🌟🌟 This is where the experience fell short. We requested to order our starter and main course separately, which was denied, and we had to place both orders together. Despite our request for separate serving times, the main course was brought to our table just 10 minutes after the starters arrived. This left us juggling plates on a table too small to accommodate everything comfortably. When we asked for the main course to be brought back later, we were told it would get cold. As a result, we had to quickly finish our starters and clear the plates to make space for the main course, which dampened our dining experience. It was Monday evening so there weren't many guests, or staff under pressure. I also had a special request on my booking and they never acknowledged it or even asked what occasion it was that we were there for. Overall: 🌟🌟 While the decor and ambience are exceptional, the service and food quality do not justify the high prices. Unfortunately, the service did not match the fine dining standards we anticipated, leaving us somewhat disappointed on what was meant to be a special evening.

Had my first visit to Birmingham and chose this restaurant, what a great decision! The ambience was absolutely spectacular, with stunning decor and a well-thought-out theme that made the experience even more enjoyable. The staff were friendly and attentive, and our food arrived promptly. Speaking of the food—it was delicious. Generous portions, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. Definitely a great spot for a lovely dining experience. Also, there were plenty of picture perfect spots, which I really enjoyed. Would highly recommend this restaurant for date nights and birthday celebrations.
