Fabulous restaurant, well situated and wonderfully hospitable staff- so professionally friendly and they go the extra mile. A busy Saturday evening but we were well looked after. The restaurant is cosy but not cramped. Nice wine selection and half carafe options too. An extensive traditional menu - spoilt for choice. Bruschetta, seafood and salmon pastas all highly recommended. Can’t wait to return !

From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with smiles and the delicious aroma of homemade dishes. Their pizzas are amazing – crispy crust and generous toppings. And don't even get me started on their pasta dishes! Valentino's is a total gem!

The food in the restaurant is really tasty and every one of the three courses was excellent! The staff are very friendly and attentive - made sure we were looked after! The young man at breakfast is a real credit to the establishment and made sure we had everything we needed!

Squid rings were the smallest I’ve seen. Pizzas couldn’t be thinner. Bolognaise - two of had it in the group, one portion was small and one was a third of the size of the small one.

Travelled from Leeds with friends as we had heard it was worth it , pleasant place but dress warm its cold in the restaurant, but welcoming , menu was good choice however quite expensive, garlic bread was very thin and not much topping and my lasagne was very small and my husbands filled pasta was too , the banoffee pie was terrible just thrown together with thin sauce and little cream , overall we left hungry and were very dissappointed, not worth the journey,

Stayed overnight. Had dinner, bed and breakfast. Dinner was delicious. The overnight stay was excellent. The room was very luxurious. They had thought of everything! Even had a pod coffee machine in the room. Italian breakfast of croissants filled with pesto and feta and palma ham followed by poached eggs with smoked salmon / Parma ham on focaccia . Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Will return!

All round excellent, food, service, atmosphere and price. This is a really professional yet friendly place. Not surprisingly, it was full. Pity we don’t live in Ripon

A gem in the heart of Ripon. We stayed here for two nights. The room was immaculate and so clean. Breakfast was very Italian. No bacon or sausage in sight! Had dinner on Saturday evening which was fab. All of the staff were so friendly and we just loved the place. Thank you. We’ll be back

This is the best restaurant in Ripon.The food is fresh,beautifully presented and reasonably priced.This was my third visit and have eaten a range of dishes on their menu.All were “exceptional”and the staff and owners are all so accommodating and perfectly lovely.In Ripon quite regularly through work,and whilst try to visit every time where here don’t always manage.Spotlessly clean toilets always gives me a measure to the condition of the kitchen.A must visit venue.So to recap Great food,Great Staff and you could eat your dinner in the toilet.”Bellissimo”

We visited when staying with family nearby, so we were a large table of 8 plus high chair. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially with the demands/grumps of over-tired children! Everyone enjoyed their meals and all plates were cleared, the toddler enjoying sampling from everyone's plate! The menu was varied and quite large. I particularly enjoyed my olive and bread starter and the orange sorbet dessert, served in a frozen orange! This is our second visit within 6 months, and no doubt we will be back again soon!

Hubby and myself had a two course meal each the food was excellent As was the service, there was a lovely ambience in the restaurant And the staff were very nice all in all a great experience

Stayed for 1 night end of November and didn’t want to leave. The room was gorgeous, staff very friendly and helpful and dinner was very good. Then we had the delight of breakfast. Definitely one of the best we’ve had, great ingredients, well cooked and beautifully presented. We were planning our next visit before we left! Can’t wait to return.

Stayed here for one night b&b. Also evening meal in the restaurant. Could not fault anything about our stay or meals. The staff are very friendly and welcoming as well as being professional. We will definitely stay here again.

Smashing place for a quick lunch. Good food, good beer, friendly staff, interesting decor. Tripped across this place and we’re very pleasantly surprised.

Visited here for an over night stay and was not disappointed. On arrival we checked in & had an issue with the heating in the room but this was sorted with ease & we were moved to another room. It was so nice to have something so simple resolved simple. The new room was fabulous and the staff were so helpful with everything. The breakfast was fabulous & attention to detail was outstanding. Next time we go we will be eating in the evening here along with breakfast in the morning. If you want a nice get away with no stress then visit here.

Brilliant staff, excellent food, great atmosphere and very comfortable. This was a really enjoyable dining experience (having stayed overnight our Italian breakfast lived up to the super quality of the previous nights meal). The menu covered the usual range of Italian dishes but also offered some more adventurous choices. We also received some excellent advice on the choice of wine. Certainly, everything we had was fantastic and given that it was a wet and stormy Wednesday evening we were glad we booked because the place was full. The feel of the restaurant was really relaxed and fun to be in and we certainly hope to return when next in the area.

We stayed here one night during our visit to North Yorkshire and were blown away by the superb quality of the food, 5 star accommodation ( we stayed on Lorenzo) . Staff are the friendliest ever kseni from Ukraine booked us in and couldn’t have been more helpful , an absolute Angel! Honestly we could not praise this restaurant with rooms enough We booked dinner weeks ahead (it is so popular it fills up quickly ). Breakfast was out of this world. Never had a breakfast like it - wow wow wow! We will be back one night wasn’t enough!

Really enjoyed this place, our first visit. A nice welcome and good atmosphere. Quick (and unprompted) delivery of water to the table. Other drinks took a bit longer due to a mix up but easily forgiven after an apology and explanation. Food was lovely - plentiful, well prepared, and piping hot. And service charge was NOT automatically added to the bill, so happily did so ourselves. Would be delighted to visit again.

We stayed over for one night B&B we attended a wedding locally. The accommodation was beautiful, clean, modern with excellent accessories. Variety of choices for breakfast delicious. All staff lovely and friendly. Will definitely stay again

We visited twice in the past week, once with our grandsons and once with friends. A firm favourite with us which didn’t disappoint on either occasion. Friendly and attentive service alongside excellent food. What’s not to like? Now that they are also open for coffee and lunch we won’t have to wait so long for our next visit. Beautiful room and the best hotel breakfast we’ve ever had! Lots of choice and beautifully presented. My husband had the steak and eggs and I had Fruit, Yoghurt and granola and Eggs Royale. All beautifully presented and tasted as good as it looked. Staff lovely and very helpful.

I stayed two nights in this wonderful B&B located above a great Italian Restaurant that is popular with the locals and situated at town square. Enjoy a wonderful meal then walk two minutes to hear the town hornblower announce 9PM. A traditional ceremony dating back to the 1300s. Rooms are uniquely decorated in simple clean European designs. Beds are so comfortable with quality linens. In room Lavazza coffee maker, kettle for tea and in the little refrigerator there is fresh milk, a bottle each of Italian spring and sparkling water. Breakfast was delicious and well presented with lots of choices and plentiful. Not the typical full English. Instead Italian influenced dishes. I had the poached eggs with Parma ham and with it a freshly baked ricotta and basil croissant. Vegetarian options on the menu as well. Highly recommended!

My wife and I were stayed at Valentino's for one night and we absolutely loved the room we had as well as the restaurant. We were upgraded to the best room because it was our honeymoon and there were fresh flowers in the room for us to enjoy along with a lovely note! The suite was very spacious, two floors with a sitting area, two bathrooms and a large bedroom with a very comfortable king sized bed. The food at Valentino's was excellent! We had dinner and breakfast. We went to Italy shortly after being here and the dinner we had at Valentino's was better than all the meals we had in Italy. The staff were excellent and we loved the little town of Ripon, even though we didn't get much time to see it. Rick the owner and cook was a great host, thank you!

After so long in lock down it was great to be able to visit again. Warm welcome received and the food was as good as ever. Although it was busy still received great service and food without a long wait.

Whilst on a romantic weekend away during covid restrictions we wanted to have a romantic meal out.. It certainly was OUT!! Following initial recommendation and simple email booking with great communication from owners we arrived at our alloted time and where greated ans seated. The rear area of the restaurant is Mediterranean styles with the local Ripon Backdrop just a stones throw away. Umberella up.. Gazebos built and outdoor heaters fired up everything was catered for. A great selection of drinks. The large peroni and grapefruit gin was well recieved and priced. Service was attentive and excellent. Bruschetta arrived promptly and tasted fresh and vibrant. Beatifully prsesented the deep fried mozerrela starter the same.. Main courses followed and I wouldn't hesitate to order anything from the menu. I couldnt manage a desert, however I was able to take away the house special tiramisu... 10/10 for food 10/10 service and thankyou british weather for holding out during service..

We went to Valentino’s twice this week, the food was amazing . The service was brilliant, bringing us hot water bottles if we were cold. Would Definately recommend this restaurant .

Fabulous food, and great service. Outside dining in a cold may, made more comfortable by patio heaters, blankets and hot water bottles!! The food was incredible and service impeccable!

We have been to Valentino’s many times and every single time the food and service is absolutely second to none. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, they make you feel very welcome. We have been before, during and after lockdown and will always return again and again. At the moment we can only sit outside to eat but Rick has thought of everything, gazebos, outside heaters, blankets, hot water bottles and Italian music.....the perfect evening! We would recommend coming to Valentino’s to everyone and we will always return.

Lovely al fresco meal at Valentino’s. So nice to be back. Nothing is too much trouble - with heaters and hot water bottles provided for cool evenings. And, of course, the food was great. Not having to remember to order separate vegetables now was an added bonus!

Our first meal out since last August, and where else to celebrate, it had to be Valentino’s! The welcome was warm, the sun was shining and it it felt positively Mediterranean sitting outside enjoying the wonderful food and being looked after by “the team” . Booked to come back in a fortnight’s time. Thanks Rick, Danny, Pablo and Linda, we had a wonderful evening.

First time back at Valentino’s since Xmas and it was fantastic, very well organised fabulous service and delicious food. We were sat under one of the gazebos which looked very pretty later on in the evening , we were warmed by heaters and hot water bottles that were topped up whenever needed. We recently ordered a takeaway meal for our anniversary. The food was absolutely fantastic and very reasonably priced. We were meant to be going to Rome for our a anniversary, so with everything going on and not being able to go we thought we would bring a little bit of Italy to us. If you looking for great food for a romantic meal I could highly recommend Valentino’s. We look forward to coming for a meal on the other side of this.

Noticed Valaninos was now doing gluten free pizza so we thought we would have a takeaway. We had 2 pizzas and they were really disappointing, the base was good but not much flavour and not as good as other gluten free pizzas from Italian restraints in Ripon.

Ordered a takeaway during the Covid lockdown. Excellent meal, freshly prepared and piping hot. Generous portion too; didn't need a dessert!

We go regularly to Valentinos - it's a great restaurant. Always a great welcome by the friendly staff who then serve us delicious food. Terrific ambience. The Covid precautions made us feel very safe. It is obvious they are working very hard to protect all their customers. Will still be enjoying tasty meals from the lockdown delivery service. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Been a regular at Valentino’s for over 30 years and despite all the challenges of Covid they deliver as always.Tonight we have visited for the first time in a few weeks and the welcome, service and quality of the food were exceptional.Bresaola, saltimboca and pizza de mare were so good.Enjoy your New Year break and we look forward to more years of wonderful food and wine at Valentino’s.

I’ve been to almost every restaurant in Ripon and I don’t see any other coming close to Valentino’s - the food is superb (best chicken wings I’ve ever had), the atmosphere is brilliant and the staff led by Daniel are the best in the business. Can’t recommend enough.

This is our favourite family restaurant and has been since we moved to Ripon in 1989. They have kept their traditional favourite Italian recipes but are always adding something new to the menu. Over the years we have discovered that their wines and many ingredients are sourced from Italy! A truly authentic Italian restaurant!

We have continued to visit this restaurant since moving to Ripon in the 1990's. There is always such a warm welcome. This year the decor was updated and it now has a more modern look,but it has still kept its cosy atmosphere.Since Covid hit and the restaurant was forced into temporary closure staff have worked extremely hard to continue to produce high quality dishes from the restaurant menu, which they have delivered to our home. We were so pleased when they were allowed to reopen. We have felt extremely safe in the restaurant and the food is amazing, as always. We particularly enjoy trying new dishes which feature on the specials menu. We're definitely looking forward to our next visit.

On Thursday evening my daughter who lives in Canada asked us to go and collect a Valentino's gift voucher for her aunt and uncle so we decided we would have a meal that evening as well despite Covid etc. We had not been out for a meal for months we had missed our wedding anniversary so we went to dine quite early. The restaurant has recently been refurnished and they have very strict Covid regulations. The staff very caring and friendly. Food delicious with a wide menu of both Italian and English food. It was a cold evening but the atmosphere and experience was 1st class we really enjoyed ourselves. The sweet was delicious that my husband and I shared we certainly will be visiting again.

Having lived in Ripon for over 15 years we had never been to Valentino's and used to frequent various other Italian restaurants. We noticed walking by one evening that it had been refurbished and thought we'd give it a try.It really is the perfect local Italian ! The service is friendly and brilliant. The food tasty although it would be nice to have a few other types of pasta. We have been back half a dozen times since and would recommend as an easy, friendly and local Ripon restaurant.

So Danni and Rick have worked their magic. Ambiance was always great, however the tired setting is completely renewed ( perhaps a little bright) More importantly Ricks Kitchen skills have leapt forward. The previous decidedly average food, is now something to be desired. Great to see the excellent customer service remains. An asset to the city and the place locals go. True Italian as opposed to the normal pizza joint one finds. Let’s hope it continues!

I cannot rate Valentino’s highly enough. I found myself without accommodation in Ripon at the last minute and was wonderfully looked after by both the owner and very friendly staff. The meal and breakfast were both delicious and the room very tasteful and absolutely spotless.I loved the atmosphere which was relaxed but with a keen attention to detail.I shall be back!

The food and service was first class, we enjoyed the new decor but we felt the lighting was too bright for it to be an intimate experience. Would benefit from dimmer switches and candles when Covid allows!

Yum, yum, yum! A bit retro but everything was delicious, it may feel like a 1990s Italian restaurant but I’m more than happy to go back there! The Zabaglione was one of the best I’ve ever had, we will definitely be coming back.

Disappointed, after having tried the other 3 Italian restaurants in Ripon we thought we would visit the newly refurbished Valentino's. Unfortunately although the food was nice it was nothing special for the price we paid. Staff were not as friendly as I have experienced elsewhere. Covid :19 guidelines were not properly met. Staff’s distancing made me feel a little uncomfortable. No visors worn I understand it’s not compulsory but feelSomeone more concerned about cross infection should think twice before visiting.

Went for dinner for 2, just as they opened at 5pm on a Saturday. They might just have opened, but they were busy within 5 minutes. Good Covid procedures and tables well spaced.Had Bruschetta for starters (fine), then frito misto for me (lovely) and my Mrs had the ham and pineapple (yes, I know it's not Italian) pizza, which had a very light and crispy base.Both had tiramisu for dessert, which was extremely light and tasty. A lovely meal

This restaurant was really great. I ate my favourite food, cheesy pasta. It was very hot at first but then it cooled down, and there was a really long bit. The people who worked there led me to my table, and you can even ask for the best table. And they had amazing pictures. It was a really small portion, but that's good for your tummy, so you can eat a lot of supper. It was the best restaurant I've ever ate at. Jake

Valentino's has been a family favourite for years, always welcoming with amazing food served with a friendly face and warm welcome upon arrival, since the recently new refurbish the restaurant has only got better, its gone from being a little dated to totally stylish, whilst maintaining the fantastic atmosphere, the food is just as good as ever the best pizza's you could ever eat, thin crispy bases topped high with only the freshest ingredients, I had a seafood pizza, it had huge king prawns, fresh clams and squid all served with a smile, the portions are just right, when ordering parma ham this was a generous portion and clearly freshly sliced, yummy is all I can say. The restaurant has strictly adhered to all the covid-19 regulations so you can dine in comfort and enjoy. Definitely worth a visit, you will want to go back again and again and again. Five star by far.

It was an amazing atmosphere where you feel wanted and part of a community just like a large family. The food was sensational with every meal we ordered full of flavour. The staff were fabulous and would help my family and I whenever it was needed checking in with us without imposing. My family have been a handful of times now proving the service and food to be consistently high. I would 100% recommend - this is my family’s first choice of restaurant in Ripon! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Absolutely top venue. We were well looked after and they have really adhered to the social distancing rules. Because we were from 3 families, we sat on separate tables. One couple in our group were out for the first time since Lockdown and we all felt very safe; everything was cleaned regularly. All of us were very impressed. The food was delicious and I'd recommend the Italian cider. My son thoroughly enjoyed his steak. Thank you to all the staff.

Four of us dined here last night and all enjoyed our meals. The restaurant has transformed decoratively since our last visit with a very modern refurbishment, but hasn’t lost any of its charm or friendly service. The Covid-19 measures in places (detailed on their website) made dining feel very safe and I would highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you to all the staff for a lovely evening.

Ate at Valentino’s this evening and cannot recommend it enough. The food was absolutely gorgeous, excellent service and hospitality, not to mention the amazing COVID precautions they have put in place for their customers. Allocated entry times and entrances, hand sanitisers, social distanced tables not to mention the exemplary cleaning of menus and tables between customers.The restaurant looks amazing with its new makeover and can’t wait for the rooms to open we’ll definitely be booking.We had a wonderful time, thank you Rick, Danny and team, we’ll be back soon.

Opening night at Valentino’s Ripon and it was fantastic, food was amazing service excellent and Dan ever the professional always makes you feel welcome and special. Well done all of you.

Four of us booked a table for a Saturday evening and arrived early. The staff were very accommodating, and we soon had a nice corner table.The menu was comprehensive enough with more than enough choice especially if you want a pizza. I had a starter and main course from the specials menu, and I enjoyed both. The service throughout was very friendly, timely and efficient. Impressively our order was taken by the waitress without taking notes (and she got it right!).The food was tasty, and everyone enjoyed all the courses. Some of the dishes were very hot. Plenty of food on the plate and we came away feeling pleasantly full but not stuffed!The restaurant has a small car park outside. The bill for the evening was very reasonable. Well worth a second visit.

Looked online and code according to reviews. The least Italian menu I’ve ever seen. We had veal & supposedly free range chicken dishes. Both at over £16.00 each, accompanied by soggy rice or greasy chips. The place is old and tired and cold. These prices and food is horrible. Thank goodness we don’t live in ripon

Arrived at Ripon late on a Thursday night and this restaurant looked inviting so gave it a try. What a find, so impressed we returned again two nights later and again had a lovely meal. This restaurant is obviously very popular with locals and many of the customers appeared regulars which is always a good sign. The food is well cooked and presented and the house wine is excellent value and very drinkable. Overall we would thoroughly recommend.

It is extremely remiss of us to have been to ‘Vals’ so many times without actually writing a review.Whether as a couple, as a family or with friends, this is our ‘go to Italian’ in Ripon. The ambience is warm and friendly, always seeing people we know in there. Far removed from people quietly huddled over their food with the clatter of cutlery the only noise to break the silence. There is always a vibrant buzz.The staff are more like friends and know our preferences, even where we prefer to sit.We love the hearty Italian home cooked feel of the food. We are well travelled around Italy and its islands; Rick has got the balance of traditional and more adventurous bang on across the standard and specials menus.If you want pretentious and swanky go elsewhere.For us Valentinos is all about well cooked tasty traditional Italian food in the sort of environment we’d expect in a proper local Italian, in Italy, off the tourist trail.

First vist abd will be the last!!!!! Absoulutly horribly... ive eaten nicer food at the Green King restruarants... pate starter looked like someone had just thrown it on the plate and bought the pate from aldi..... my.husband had calamari it was frozen and horrid. Main meals lobster and king prawns risotto and wild bull pasta. There would of been.more flavour in my flip flops!!!! Un £21.50 for a bottle of pinot and ive had nicer from asda under a fiver!!!!! I most defiantly mot recommend. Run down place needs updating, chairs was wobbling and that wasnt the wine!!!!! What a waste of money would of been cheaper and nicer going to the takeaway pizza shop... one word.... YUK!!!!!

The food was as good as any I have eaten, fabulous home made soup to start followed by escallop of veal Milanese, with new pots great bottle of wine does not get better, not the cheapest but certainly right up there as one of the best.

My review may seem a bit harsh but I thought it was an Italian restaurant but it isn't apart from the name and some of the pictures around the room. Don't get me wrong, iits edible if you're hungry but there is nothing authentic about the menu once it gets to your table. I'm not sure that any of the kitchen staff have ever been to Italy or an authentic Italian restaurant in the UK for that matter because every meal was lacking. The waitresses appear to be students and credit to them, they were attentive and really hard working.

After having had a large lunch we were looking for something nice and light to eat in the evening. Valentino's had been recommended to us and we were not disappointed!Debating whether to order one or two pizzas we decided on two, the Valentino's special and a Margharita. Delicious and incredibly light and not too heavy on the stomach!We left feeling we had eaten a lovely, satiating meal.Thanks Rick!

Valentino’s is always our go to restaurant due to the friendly staff, great food and fab atmosphere but last night meal was extra special due to there delicious lobster festival event. We really enjoyed our night. Thanks Rick and team for a wonderful evening, see you again soon!

My partner and I were fortunate enough to come across this gem on our recent trip to Ripon. The food is authentic Italian, tasty and good portions and with plenty of vegan choices for my partner, which is hugely appreciated. We look forward to returning.

It you are old enough to remember what Italian restaurants were like in the 1980's then Valentino's encapsulates it pretty well in terms of food, menu choice and decor - except we didn't find any Italians working there!! So I thing the terms family restaurant probably doesn't fit. I found my choice of crab filled ravioli to be bland and smothered in a suffocating sauce - never a good sign. Much better to stick with the pizza options, that you know are cooked fresh when ordered. Overall, if you after a bit of restaurant nostalgia, prepared to accept average food at average prices with a pleasant ambiance , then Valentino's delivers that.

Visited this restaurant recently with the family. The food was gorgeous, hot and tasty too, and the staff sweet without being too OTT. Will definitely visit again shortly

I have been to many Italians over the years, but I can honestly say this is without doubt the worst I have been to! Why, you may ask, first kids food at 6.95 no kids menus, they can have anything off the menu but kids sizes and you didn’t know the prices (until bill came) £2 cheaper than adults so the spaghetti bolognese for my eldest came with probably a table spoon of bolognese on a heap of dry spaghetti, which we obviously thought would reflect the price at the end, it didn’t! My youngest wanted pizza so ham and mushroom it was not the best pizza but not the worst either my wife ordered lasagne which in fact she didn’t mind. Onto mine, the calzone came out and looked like a big hot air ballon and in fact that is what it was, a bread full of hot air, not much filling at all, I think my daughters pizza had double the filling on it so I complained! The waiters response to this was ‘this is our recipe this is how we do our calzones ‘! Onto round two, I ordered a flat pizza instead with all the fillings that I got in my calzone so it came out 20 mins later only to find the base and the chicken were burned to a crust, obs wasn’t a happy customer so another complaint (which I can honestly say I don’t like doing), they did take my food and drink off the bill much to the dismay of the waitress! I wouldn’t ordinarily write a complaint but I though after a £45 food bill and the fact I was unable to eat with my family there was very little compensation or customer service hence the review!

A typical Italian family restaurant- good food and wine and a very friendly welcome. Obviously lots of regulars and we’d go back if in the area again.

Spacious quaint Italian restaurant in central Ripon. Can accommodate groups and couples alike. Extensive menu with all the typical options you would expect to find and lots of specials. Service excellent. Would recommend and will return.

What a wonderful restaurant. We went as a family of 5 and every single person said it was the best Italian food they had ever eaten. The service was excellent, it was busy but relaxed. We had a really enjoyable evening and will certainly be back!

We booked an early evening meal (6:30.) On arrival the restaurant was busy with mainly family groups of varying sizes and children ranging from toddlers to teenagers. Lovely to see.
