Been going here for 3 years and it has been consistently good. Recently I feel the quality of the food has dipped a bit, in particular the noodles they are using in the chow mein seem softer and cheaper and generally not as good.

It amazes me how many positive reviews regarding the food, it’s absolutely rank. There’s something not right with all the meat options they all seem old and poor quality. Including the prawns, they haven’t had the intestine track cleaned out. None of the food is like any other Chinese takeaways, the flavour is lacking and watery. It’s just really really poor quality! Huan ying is much better or alternatively Ocean city is also good. Can’t knock the service all staff are very polite, but the food is shocking. Actually thinking about is making me feel a little sick. I have given this place so many goes because it’s so close and because of the reviews but every time I chuck it in the bin because it’s gross. I’m not a fussy eater in the slightest but something is off with the food, even the chips are shocking. Plus after one night I had crispy duck pancakes and woke in the middle of the night violently being sick that much I struggled to catch my breath. But went back to sleep and was okay in the morning…. So not sure what that was about. In my opinion swerve at all costs, much much better Chinese food in the area for the same price. Disappointing because it’s so conveniently close to me, plus has the tell tale signs of a good Chinese; no card payment, no delivery etc.

By far the best Chinese I’ve had! We actually had food from here many times now and it never disappoints! Staff always really nice, they always double check the order and food always fresh and very tasty. 10/10 for me!

Best Chinese in the area. No question. We've tried them all!! Years ago used to like Honda's best in clay cross but now it's not the same since changed to fat panda. Va kei is the best

Never tried before and I'm funny with curry sauces. Gave them a go tonight. Never again. £6.40 for a bag of burnt bits (chips) fried rice and a curry sauce that had a strange film on it and a taste I can only describe as beefy oxo flavour. All gone in bin. Never again. If I could give 0 star I would as that's all it deserves

we were staying in the area and wanted a takeaway so we looked for a chinese in the area and found this one. Food was amazing one of the best i have had in a long time and such good value for money. The young man who served us was very polite and friendly. If we are ever in the area again will definitely be calling here.

This place is amazing - fantastic food which is always the same great quality. No greasy Chinese feel, just good quality, tasty Chinese dishes. The beef in black bean sauce in particular is lovely. Friendly staff, prompt service. Our go to Chinese takeaway (even though we moved out of the area we still travel to collect!!)

I tried this Chinese in 2005 and I had to give it 1 star and that was 1 too many. Today it's 4* I would have given it 5 but we live 2 minutes away and the food was cold so had to microwave it up for 2 minutes to get heat in it, The taste of the food was excellent and we just had 10 random menu items and each one was as good as the next now it will be our go to Chinese "get the food hot i will change the rating" A well worth visit to this place.

Reasonably priced, high quality British/Cantonese food. Free prawn crackers with our order as well which is a nice touch. Too much food for two people to finish came to less than £20

Really enjoyed my pancake rolls they were delicious as was the Merry Paradise shared with nephew, he gave the dish high praise indeed!

Polite and prompt service, delicious food that was still piping hot when we got home and only took 15/20 minutes from ordering for the food to be ready. I had my first Chinese takeaway from Va Kei many years ago and continue to go back.

Iv just moved to North Wingfield from Sheffield and my sister wanted a Chinese! This place is really nice! The food is soooo delicious! Good portions! Great prices! Ist Time here called on recommendation To try there food Already Very busy when arrived at 6.30pm to place order situated in a corner of the village green which is now o a dead alley due to new road blocking of one end .parking is on road or on a small car park Food very tasty and rich flavoured And the cost was very good compared Chinnese takeaways around Swanwick/Ripley/Alfreton area Only down side is they only take cash which is why it’s 4 star not 5

AVOID THIS DISGUSTING TAKEAWAY!!!!! If I could rate a 0 I would ... Absolutely vile. Obviously microwaved with how fast it came out and with the plastic pots for curry sauce melting and splitting so it went everywhere !! Something weird tasting with the chicken it was black in our chicken fried rice 🤢 literally made me sick and we couldn't eat it! Absolutely vile place. DO NOT GO HERE!!!

Have eaten Chinese food all over the UK and the USA, this is the FINEST Chinese food I have ever experienced, ........ staff are a delight and the food even better.

Va kei is such a great Chinese takeaway they don't need to deliver because people will come fetch it. I wish they did delivery though Just because I am lazy. I drive from hasland to North Wingfield to fetch it as it is our favourite. The meat seems good quality unlike in some takeaway places. They also do the best prawn crackers.

Never had a bad meal from Va Kei and worth the hassle of driving there to collect it. Sweet and sour chicken balls, lemon chicken, beef chow mein and egg fried rice all beautifully cooked and fab service.

Still by far the best quality take-away food you’ll get around here. You may have to wait but the food is always cooked nicely and so tasty!

Delicious as always, the only reason this isn’t a five is that the batter on some of the chicken balls was much thicker than usual and the chicken portions were smaller than usual. However, we will still order from here again, as it’s the best we’ve found in the area.

Tasty and fresh food, and the prices are also good. There's a good choice of dishes too, there's a couple I've never seen anywhe else.

Very fresh and tasty, not like a usual Chinese. Very well presented and not bulked up with cheap ingredients like Onion. With not having a delivery service you are sure to know that it's made to how it's supposed to taste and not got to you luke warm 1hr and half later. Menu is a little sparse, would like to see sea weed and Salt and Pepper Chips. But I think at least they do what is realistically possible.

It's a clean nice place with some nice food with reasonable prices and most of the time orders are correct however, not fond of the fries and the chicken balls are extremely fatty

Great food and friendly service, they offer food that I don't see in many other oriental takeaways and feels a little more authentic than a lot of places. You'd hardly know it was there though as it's in a corner almost hidden away. If it was in a more prominent position I'm sure it would have even more customers.
