V-Namese Restaurant in Great Yarmouth

was very disappointed after all the recent good reviews. the thing that stood out the most was the terrible customer service and the lack of clear communications. one of the servers couldn’t understand very well, even basic things such as asking for water was too difficult to understand in which she had to get a colleague in order to be able to understand. the service was slow and unprofessional. whilst taking orders the other server kept pausing to have to look for numbers on the menu, which slowed the transaction a lot. even after all of that there were still so many mistakes, like they didn’t even know their own menu. the children’s chicken noodles was full of vegetable and onions, if we wanted that we would have just ordered the noodles with veg. and the second time we ordered it with specifically no veg it came with veg. the children’s fried rice was mushy, wet and bland. we had to get it done again but it seemed like they just tossed it back in the pan. they were serving dishes one by one with 10-15 minute wait times in between one dish which is absolutely ridiculous. the ribs and chicken wings lacked flavour. the vegetable dishes were very bland as well. the sweet and sour soup was good in terms of flavour but it came out the first time without any prawns, which is what we ordered. when we told the lady she said it doesn’t come with prawns but they could do it for us, news flash it was on the menu. the bun bo hue was okay, decent amount of beef, soup had some flavour but could’ve had more, and came with the right aromatics. overall it was just not very authentic, the service was flat out terrible, and the atmosphere was very uncomfortable.

Stumbled upon this by accident so we had very neutral expectations. Well, the vegans options are great. Lots of choice, very tasty and the portions are generous. Service is rated 4 stars only because it can take a while to get your food, but then again that is reassuring because it's freshly cooked. The staff are very nice and helpful though. We have gone back since discovering this little gem. Same tasty experience. And we will be back again

This is the exact "Phở bò chín" that I want to have. Best Vietnamese beef brisket noodle soup in Norfolk in my opinion. The "Bún thịt nướng" - Vermicelli noodles with grilled pork is absolutely perfect too.

Food was great and reasonable price. But beware of long wait if you’re rushed. We had to wait for more than 40 mins to see our starters and mains.

Popped in while between house viewings, nice clean restaurant, friendly waitress, lots of the meals can be veganised with tofu. Everything was absolutely delicious, best we've tasted. We had to opt for takeaway as we run out of time, will be going back with the family when we are not rushed.

It was great! The food was super tasty, authentic and reasonably priced. Good variety of food, summer rolls were amazing and service was great. Really recommend, you won’t be disappointed.

The grilled pork with boiled rice at this restaurant is highly recommended. The pork is perfectly marinated and tender. The pho, spring rolls, and summer rolls were tasty but not outstanding. The waiting time for the food was around 20 minutes despite few customers. The prices are reasonable, costing £46 for 2 adults and 2 children. Vietnamese snacks were sold here but limited, mostly from other Asian countries. It would be great if they offered coconut candies or other coconut sweet treats. I would consider returning to this restaurant.

Amazing food. We went at lunch time on a weekday and it was quiet, so the atmosphere wasn't quite there, but the food was the best we had on our whole trip.

what an absolute legend. our server ran down the street to bring us our leftovers which we accidentally left on the table. our meal was amazing too with a mix of crowd pleasing takeaway style dishes and authentic Vietnamese cuisine. fantastic options for vegans as well as meat eaters. very reasonably priced. great friendly service.

I was skeptical about the authenticity of their food, but the Spicy Hu Tiue and salty chill prawns were delicious. The server was also courteous and friendly.

We had grilled pork with rice, salt and chilli prawns,spicy beef soup with beansprouts,Hu Tieu spicy soup with tofu, great dervice and very reasonable price.£10-£15 per person with drinks.We went lunchtime so was nice and peacful.I reccomend to anyone who likes a bit of spicy food.

Absolutely delicious proper Vietnamese cuisine

Delicious meal, really good value and nice to try and independent restaurant. Felt really authentic and the Summer rolls were the best we've had! The Xi xia pork was delicious, and to be honest, we enjoyed it all! Would really recommend.

Really welcoming front of house, talked through the dishes and sauces and even asked if we wanted cutlery or chop sticks. The food was beautiful and plentiful, as was the vietnamese coffee. A serious gem and highly recommended.

Wanted something special for our anniversary meal so opted for this superb restaurant. The food was spot on, and healthy too. We can definitely recommend the Summer Rolls and the whole Seabass which just flakes off the bone. Beautiful flavours. Everything went perfectly with our Prosecco. Absolutely loved this little gem we found online before coming to Great Yarmouth. The food was outstanding and service fantastic. Very friendly and lovely to my boisterous son. We had a great and scrumptious lunch. Also lovely to see vegan options. They gave my son the cutest little meal deal for £4.95 he got noodles, vegan prawn crackers, bottle of water and some toys and tissues. We had a mixed vegan starter and vegan pho. Large portions and reasonably priced. We will be back when next visiting. We can't wait. Thank you 💚.

Delicious food for a fair price! Pork stew with bamboo shoots was my favourite, melt-in-your-mouth and good balance of flavour that reminds me of home

Little gem here is GY for authentic Vietnamese food. Grill pork and rice is my favorite.

Such a shame the service was slow and inconsistent. A small notice near the door apologised for not having staff but they should have explained. Food was delicious when it arrived.

Food was great, especially for vegans!! The service was a little slow since they were short staffed, but they had a sign on the door, explaining that so you are already prepared to wait a little bit longer… but well worth the wait if you love Vietnamese food !!

Basically 95% of options can be made vegan. Family business, quiet and humble place, good atmosphere, kind Employee and felt like I ate very healthy non processed food. Thank you!

Lovely food, ok it doesn't look great from the outside. Food was very good, pork spring rolls & sweet chilli dip. Sweet chilli chicken, rice & side salad. Deep fried ice cream. Couldn't fault the meal.

Very tasty home cooked in little cafe just of the promenade. Go find it and eat it😋 Situated just behind the flamingo arcade is this hidden little gem. Not just a cafe but also a place by asian ingredients within. You will by welcomed the host and service is second to none. We had some mixed starters to begin. The summer rolls where very fresh and were a welcome break from some of the other fried starters. The Pho soup was very light and refreshing. It complimented our fried power with chilli fish sauce. All In all, a very pleasant and tasty meal with plenty of sauces to try our dishes with.

Went with a couple of pals. It was very quiet but this was not a reflection of our experience. Service and food was excellent. I enquired about gluten free options and they catered without any fuss or bother. Great selection of dishes, good size portions, and very reasonably priced.

As a small independent Vietnamese restaurant, I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food we were served (all freshly prepared!) and the friendliness of the FOH staff. We visited on a quieter day and had all the attention of the staff (the real VIP treatment) and my Vietnamese friend who was with us was impressed with the authenticity. There aren't many Vietnamese restaurants around, but the quality of V-Namese will be something we'll remember for a long time.

Long time since we ate here. A quiet night but the service was helpful and friendly. We ordered spring rolls and satay chicken for starter. Both so tasty. Then we had beef with ginger, special fried rice and sea bass in chilli sauce. Again, beautifully prepared and presented. Clean plates ensued. There is also a number of food items and snacks for sale. Will definitely return.

Very good Vietnamese restaurant. We followed the recommendations and the suggested plates. We had to wait but we knew it wasn't a fast food restaurant so we just chilled and relax. Good atmosphere because the waitress was very nice with the clients and she offered a really good service.

Brilliant food, tasted fresh and authentic. They have a photo card sampling some of the food which was helpful. We had ordered Summer rolls and Tofu Vietnamese pancake to start, then beef pho, chicken stir fry with special fried rice, and Fried ice-cream to finish. They were all delicious. One star was taken out for the slow service. That place was busy. The tips was to go early if for dinner and ordered everything in one go. Service was great, everbody worked their heart out serving customers.

Great customer service and really tasty Tofu dishes - Pho, Chilli and Garlic, Ginger and Onion to name a few. Definitely recommended if you're in the Great Yarmouth area.

Wish I could give this place a better review but unfortunately there were some key issues. Went in at 12:40pm and had drinks, starters, mains. Mains took about 1 hour 45 minutes to land in front of us and we had to rush back to the car park as we had booked 2 hours. The food was okay and presented nicely but not that cheap considering how little meat was in the pho. It was my first time having this kind of food so maybe it's not going to be my favourite but I'm definitely not un a rush to try this kind of food again based on this experience.

Beautifully presented, fresh and flavoursome Vietnamese food. We dinned on a Friday lunchtime, it was quiet and we were well looked after. If you enjoy Vietnamese food, you will relish the food here. Our highlight was the Gỏi cuốn, on the menu as 'Summer Rolls' - don't leave without trying!

Went with family without pre-booking around afternoon time. Were warned they were short-staffed so will be a long wait (40min +) and two large groups already present but allowed us to come in despite that. The wait in the end wasn't long at all (maybe 20minutes) and our food was delicious, the service friendly courteous. We had the vegetarian roll platter, prawn summer rolls, prawn on sugar cane sticks, vegan fried rice, vegetable noodles, xar xiu pork and chilli beef. As dessert we had fried ice cream. Everything was fresh and flavoursome and affordable. All of that plus drinks was only £67. Good value for money.

This is such a lovely restaurant. The food is authentic and very tasty! We had squid and chicken to start. Mains chilli and lemongrass prawn and the chilli beef. V tasty and left full! The lady that took our order was very lovely, but I think she was quite new and told us that we would get 3 spring rolls. When the chef brought out 2 (after a very long wait), we mentioned that we were told we would get 3, of which the lady who took our order agreed she said. The chef didn't want to honour it and insisted that we should pay extra if we wanted another spring roll. Leaving 1 star for the principle of poor customer service.

Very bad customer services - they completely ignored us. We sat there for over 20 minutes and no one came to serve us. Even though we called for them to come, they still ignored us and we have no idea why they did that to their customers. I was very shocked! We left finally, our children tried to say goodbye to them, however they still ignored the children - very rude! We would never go there again and we wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone! I'm glad we left because after reading the reviews, it turned out their serving time is slow. We were able to find a better restaurant eventually.

So I was looking for somewhere new, quiet and discovered this little place a few years ago. Having been once, I wanted to take a friend there. Went last Monday The food, the service, was sensational. I cannot speak highly enough of it. The service, the food the cosyness of it all, really nice. Parking is on the local sideroads and the view may not be the best, however come for the food, come for the experience. Fully reccomend 100%

It’s a nice Vietnamese restaurant offering various cuisines from noodles (aka pho) to rice and curries. You should try Vietnamese coffee if you have a sweet tooth: aromatic and sweet coffee. The only thing to be aware is give them a ring before you go there as sometimes it is closed while google says it opens that day.

My husband & I travelled from Oxfordshire for a 2 day mini break to Great Yarmouth. It was short notice so we made no reservations for eating out. Having had an awful drive up spending 7 hours on the road, we Googled restaurants near our hotel & found V-Namese by chance. So glad we did. Food & service were outstanding. In fact so good, we didn't look for an alternative on our 2nd night. Don't expect salubrious - it's paper tablecloths, no frills décor & somewhat oddly, a unisex loo! But for foodies looking for a gem, we highly recommend it. And the pricing is so reasonable. Particular praise to the chef for the best chicken satay starter we have ever had & my husband is still talking about the batter on his prawns. Loved dining here & wish we had a restaurant like this in our home town. Thank you.

Service 1. Food 3 Whole experience below basic customer service, shocking visit , from half menu missing , starters taking over 1hr 20 mins. Drinks taking 30 mins. Really bad experience, never used to be like this, but today was absolutely poor a kebab shop provides a better customer service.

I took my parents (60s) and 3 year old here in June 2021. We all chose something different and everything was great. There was a bit of a wait for the food but it was worth it. The kids meal was a surprise- they gave us a little box with a drink, dessert, tissues and some small toys in it. My daughter absolutely loved it and it kept her busy while we waited for the food. The price was really good value and I would come here again next time I’m in the area.
