Contrary to the overview that clearly states that dogs are allowed. They are not, unless you stand on the pavement out front. Not overly impressed.

Cheap drinks and tasty food Always busy staff friendly

Me and 8 friends arrived and found this pub. We were overwhelmed with the service and hospitality shown by staff and customers. Spent 3 days in Great Yarmouth and highly recommend this lovely pub. We will be back soon. All the best from the Hastings Motley Crew.

My group meets here once a month, also come here with family and friends food is always good, staff are friendly great places to eat and prices are very reasonable

I have been to market tavern a few times, every time the staff have been lovely, always happy to help. The only thing slightly negative that I can say is that sometimes the food needs cooking a little bit more, it can look a bit pale depending on what you have, it's always cooked through, so it's not undercooked it can sometimes just look that way. I would go back again as I have done many times. Good for kids and adults, they have outside seating when it's nice weather as well and there's plenty of seats inside.

Excellent breakfast, and the staff ate so polite and helpful, very reasonable prices. 6 of us were eating, breakfast was hot and very filling.

Lovely pub, beautiful meals,vanessa & the girls very friendly. A must to visit especially if you are hungry, meals are huge & the prices are great.

We had parked at the Market Place so it was convenient, and we had lovely mixed grills with the biggest baked potatoes We've ever seen! Good old fashioned table service, and very well priced. We would definitely go back.

Good in the morning for Bacon and Sausage Rolls tea or Coffee. Have not had the breakfast but my friend has znc he was pleaded with it. Fish znd chips also look good and portions goof size.

Nice place old pub. Good friendly atmosphere. Staff welcoming and friendly. Food simple but tasty. Burger was good nice meat. Middle of Yarmouth so can pop in while shopping. Easy parking opposite. Prices very reasonable. Would definitely go again. Also children's menu.

Great pub with lovely food, steak pie was great, ( I would prefer a proper pastry lid) great flavour, chips were lovely, as were the peas, all lovely and fresh, most definitely good value for money.

Walked in pub is completely dead bar two three people max. Poor decor and cobwebs visible. No dogs allowed however no signs saying so. It's a backstreet boozer

What a lovely find, we arrived about 10.30am and people were already dining both inside and out, I ordered a bacon & egg butty & a coffee was only £4.20 lovely serving lady asked where I was sitting and it arrived quickly to the table outside. It was cooked to perfection and was very filling. The whole place was so clean tidy and the other food being served looked really good. The prices here are very reasonable and outside area was filled with both locals & tourists. It was a great place to stop and watch the world go by heading into and out of the market place.

Just been charged £4.20 for a house vodka and coke, no way, totally ridiculous, not coming here again!!!!!!!

A great pub to visit good staff and good value for money

At first glance outside looked a bit iffy and we nearly didn't go in , but, I'm really glad we did as this is a really nice pub. The staff were very friendly providing excellent service and a great breakfast, which would have earned five stars had the sausages been a bit meatier, even so it was still excellent value. I would recommend it. A lesson learned " don't judge a book by its cover"😁.

Quiet when we went in but the beer was fine and the pub was surprisingly nice inside. I was expecting it to be more untidy inside as the outside of the pub doesn't do the inside justice.

We went for a breakfast which was not to bad tbh I liked it ate it all good value for money and it is a nice stop of when you get off the train station on your holidays for a quick drink and food before you hit the main strip and the beach

Stopped off for snack during shopping trip to market. Good selection of breakfasts and lunch. Good value with friendly staff. Lovely seating outside to watch world go by.

Great traditional town centre pub - off the holiday makers' main trail. A warm friendly welcome. My wife and I had a great meal from a big selection - almost more than we could manage ! And a very interesting discussion with the landlady about the pub, the town and past present and future. Just what a pub should be. Warmly recommended.

To say dated will be understatement. Place requires urgent overhaul. On other side bar tenders are friendly and pints are cheap.

Walked by this pub for years on the way to Troll Cart for lunch, but today Troll Cart was packed with kids and pushchairs, so we doubled back to Market Tavern. We will never go to Troll Cart again. The food here was fantastic, great quality, enormous portions and so cheap. Staff are brilliant, atmosphere is relaxed, good selection of beers and food. What's not to like 5*******

Had always been put off by the outside, it looks a bit dark inside but we were very pleasantly surprised. Warm, clean and comfortable inside, the beer was good and the food was excellent. We will return.

Visiting from Norwich, my usual cafe was closed over xmas. Looked at the menu which seemed reasonable. Lovely friendly and happy staff. family friendly atmosphere and lots of seating near the back. Meals were very hearty portions. I had steak and ale pie. I was home made with nice succulent chunks of steak. We were told meals are cooked from scratch on site. The quality of foods confirms that. Worth a stop by for anyone visiting GY for the day.

Came to Great Yarmouth for a rock festival. Whilst up we tried several of the local pubs and bars. The Market Tavern was recommended for food by another pub we were in, so off we went. A traditional pub located on the market square. Great for food and very reasonably priced, ham egg n chips was great, as was the burgers my friends had. Well worth a visit if you are in Great Yarmouth and feeling hungry.

Was refused to sit outside weatherspoons on a bench with our old and frail dog , so decided to try this place instead …. And omg the service and the food was amazing ! The landlady was so welcoming to my children and our dog , even brought some water out to our table for him , not exspencive what so ever and the boneless ribs and steak combo was amazing , this is now my place to go when in Yarmouth , 10/10 lovvvvely family pub

It's almost a year since my last review and this pub is still a good place to eat - good sized portions at a great price with friendly staff. We visit quite regularly and are gradually working our way through the menu. We've always had a lovely meal In the town, very near the market car park so easy to get to.

The food is lovely and plentiful. Decent prices as well.

Wonderful staff and friendly atmosphere. The food is generous and also incredible. The home made nachos and portions of meat are especially worth note. A special shout out to Vanessa who makes you feel like you're coming home to tea. Highly recommended.

A small and cosy establishment. I ordered both a drink and food; £7:50, for s good size portion of chicken curry, with rice and naan, which arrived promptly and was very tasty.

Reasonable prices and good portions. Had the Ham, Egg & Chips and liked it a lot! Nice thick ham!

Me and family came here when we were on holiday the 1st time the food was ok missed a meal off so had to wait again, general pub food spent £50 between 7 people. Came a few days later for food spent about the same amount on food and drinks again. Food was 40mins late I didn't want to eat from the pub so grabbed some chips and gravy from the stalls, I sat outside the pub with my drink I bought from the pub with my family while they ate their food I was asked to move from the seats I had to stand at the side on my own to eat my chips. Really i should of asked for my money back and if the rest of the family had not already paid for their food they were going to get up and leave. Staff are very miserable no customer service. While the cost of living is so harsh on people maybe they need to think how lucky they are to be in a job. A smile using less muscles than frowning 😁

Found this place 2 days ago & had an exceptional ham & cheese toastie.Returned to indulge in the steak & barbecue boneless ribs meal.Excellent.Beer really well priced.Cannot fault this place.

Friendly staff, nothing is too much trouble. Great menu and food is all fresh

I visited with 2 friends. The menu was cheaper than other places nearby and sometimes that means quality may be lacking however the food (only served until 2.45pm) was great quality, tasty and well presented. One friend had the brunch, one the mixed grill with thick juicy steak and gammon, I opted for the superstack 11.90 for a burger with 2 x 8oz beef patties, a southern fried chicken burger, plenty of tasty bacon, melted cheese and onion rings served with chunky chips. Very tasty, very big and filling.
