V Gormans Fish and Chips in Northumberland

Was staying nearby and looking for a fish and chip shop that actually had a good food hygiene rating and saw this place.Ordered 2 regular cod and chips. Had to wait a while for the fish to be cooked, but never mind waiting if you know you're getting fresh food!10 minute drive back to where we were staying and the food was still boiling hot.The box was massive and had a very large piece of freshly battered fish which was really nice, and an amazing amount of chips which were really nicely cooked.If you're not insanely hungry then I'd recommend the small fish and chips as what we got for the 'regular' was in reality 'extra large'!Great amount of food for the price and I'd highly recommend the food here.

Had a house move recently with 9 people for lunch - a social bubble and removal men! The family team at Gormans had our order ready for collection, gave us lots of extra condiments and even helped me to the car! They were really amazing, especially for a Thursday afternoon xx

Bought 4 potions of cod and chips. Fish were high quality and well cooked the chips were however very sub standard. |Mainly small scraps and very dry, this may have been as it was just after lunchtime opening they were very disappointing.

Up visiting family from Truro and bought the best fish & chips and the best tartar sauce I have ever tasted from the most friendly northern staff. Thank you my family thought the food was delicious

Cod bites as flat as a pancake with hardly any fish in them. A mountain of chips but probably 10 edible if that as the rest were scraps of ends of potatoes that had to be thrown away. Won't be ordering again sadly 👎

Fish was outstanding. I will drive the 3 hours next week to have it again. I honestly don't think I've eaten a better fish supper and I have them regularly as in twice a week.

Ordered my food with all notes specifically saying lots of salt and vinegar. ..nothing on any of our meals. Who can eat fish and chips with no salt n vinegar. Delivery was late. Called and manager called back..well what can I say...not managenment material at all. Her answer mistakes are made. No offer if refund. And told shop not delivering now. I post this at 8:4pm. The shop shuts at 9pm. And I'm 5 mins in the car. StarvING family and my sister who has cancer is here with me...worst chippy ever!

Food was late, cold, greasy and the manager has no customer service skills no refund or replacement offered! Told us it was a slight error and they weren’t doing anything! Absolutely disgusted

firstly i would like to point out that Vgormans record you when you ring the store which is illigal unless intent is stated, that is if what the "manager" says is true. stated could i have a order to deliver for 5 oclock, the order arrived 40 minutes early i wasnt ready for it my kids wernt even home. the delivery driver said she would take it away and redeliver it later. i fully expected them to take it back and hold it in the heater till it was to be redelivered, i dont like wasting food.i received a phone call after this, it was the manager stating she had recorded our phone call and that i did not say 5 oclock. i told her i said 5 oclock at the beginning when i asked for a delivery.we ended up in a pissing contest he said she said.i got very angry clearly has no customer skills,she told me she had binned the food which pissed me off so i got louder.i work in a restaurant myself, we dont record people on the phone, we dont get arsy with you about mistakes we make. we just fix it and move on. utterly cant beleive this. makes livid.and to top it off they dont even do the jumbo fish anymore. thats the only reason i even went there in the first place i just didnt wanna be that guy that says nevermind because they dont have exactly what i wanted..defo wont be back here. manager can stick it where it dosnt shine

One of the best portions of fish and chips I have ever eaten. The homemade tartar sauce and much peas are delicious. We'll worth a visit. Good price, great portion size and helpful friendly staff.

Excellent offering for an acceptable price. Good size portions of haddock and chips (they also serve cod). Gravy, curry and garlic sauces are all very tasty. Chicken nuggets are like McDonald's but much nicer and much crisper. All in all a really delicious meal 2x fish and chips, 12 nuggets, 4 sauces all for £23.

I found Gormans on just eat during lockdown. We've now used them several times. The food is always delivered timely. Fish is fantastic and always fresh. Cannot fault this place.

I have never been here before, but I can say I will be back! Amazing customer service, and amazing fish and chips. The gravy and curry were delicious! It’s not often you can find a decent fish and chip shop, but the selection on what they have is brilliant, you are spoilt for choice. If you haven’t been, get down and try the fabulous food they have to offer. 10/10

I think that the cheese and Corned beef patties have too much potatos in them they should have more meat and cheese as they are £2.40 each.

I can highly recommend this Fish and Chip shop to anyone, the food is cooked fresh to order and tastes beautiful too, the home made mushy peas are a must too. the staff are always very friendly and helpful and the portion sizes are excellent too

Fish always lovely and freshly cooked...nice ungreasy chips...friendly service...can get busy so be prepared to wait at certain times.

A couple of mates had been banging on to me to visit, and on a boring Wednesday I thought I'd take a drive over and treat myself. The freshly cooked cod that was out of this world, and came with some outstanding chips. I made a schoolboy error in not asking for batter, but I'll know for next time.

Love the Fish & Chips here absolutely delicious. All food is Take Away. They are open all day but close at 9pm.

I cannot believe how rude the staff are here. I am a very clear well spoken women and got told 'I'm not serving you I can't understand your accent' with a hand brush action to move and with that a young girl came and served me. Absolutely disgusting way to make a customer feel I will never ever go back. The bad attitude also spoke for the food.

Had the small cod and chips was very nice especially the chips and for a small you get a good portion. Will be going back next week to try the chicken burger as they looked nice when someone in front of me ordered one. Curry sauce was nice as well.

The second you walk in you know they take pride in what they turn out. Cracking fish and chips, highly recommend the homemade tartar sauce. Friendly service as well. Never been disappointed.

Visited here on recommendation of a local, and can see why! We've been disappointed by other chippies using frozen chips, but this place prepares the potatoes on site, which really makes the difference, as did leaving the skin on. Fantastic!We went for 2 jumbo cod & chips, which were massive, and - as it turned out - too much for the four of us (although two were only 7 & 9).Can't finish the review without mentioning the mushy peas. Yum! Would 100% recommend and would return.

Wow staying at sandy bay had fish and chips from Here the food is fantastic never tasted fish and chips like it they are the best of the best they deliver but we collected the shop is immaculate and done out to high standard

We were staying at Sandy Bay caravan site. We had a recomandation for this takeaway and we were not disappointed. After a mix up about our order we had the best cod and chips we have had for years. Staff were super friendly and very accommodating. Would recommend to anyone and everyone. Best fish and chips ever ,can't say I have had better in Scotland ever.

Most of the time my husband brings me jumbo sausage & chips,Yesterday I decided to go myself & guess what?? Couldn't get in the shop! No it wasn't closed, I couldn't get in the door with my wheelchair!!Instead of a flat thresh at the door there's a step, so if your in a wheelchair you cannot get into the shop, let alone order any food. In this day & age it's disgraceful!!Come on people, us with wheelchairs like to go in shops too!!!Shame on you's!

Got off to a bad start by ordering my food on just eat and asking for my delivery for 8pm and by 7pm my door bell going mad. Unfortunately I was on a very important call which I could not move to get to the door and in fact I thought it was the window cleaner I chose to ignore it. But will say the delivery driver worked hard to get my attention and I got off the call and took my now cold order in. Great service full of apologies as Times where wrong and a new order would be with me at 8pm. 8.20pm my order arrived which I will say I thought they had forgot. Different delivery driver this time again full of apologies order was hot and taste full will definitely be back. And I have to say the gravy is far the best. And your staff have great customer service.

The best fish and chips I have had in years. After a bout of labyrinthitis this meal seriosly put my appetite back on track.

All food served and cooked fresh to order, staff strive to be helpful & efficient but during rush hour there can often be a slight wait in shop mainly due to the high volume of orders

The best fish and chips we have had ordered through just eat and they were piping hot and everything we ordered was there friendly delivery mam also

Called in for a quick bag of chips . Shop was busy but just waited a few minutes. Staff were very professional but more importantly the chips were as they should be . Crisp , soft centred and hot. Can't comment on other products but will definitely be back shortly.

Having worked at an award winning and prime minister serving fish & chip shop previously, my standards are high when it comes to this type of meal! Moved to the NE 5 years ago and this has been the best so far!

really overated. prices are too high, portions are dry. wouldn't go back :o( customers pay for the packaging? what happened to the traditional fish & chips served in paper????

Grand chips, good fish and massive, sausage nice. Staff hitty missy, one in particular needs to learn to smile!
