V Gormans Fish and Chips in Northumberland

Simply the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Cod was unreal and the chips were fresh and perfect. Batter was gorgeous. The quality of the food was exceptional 10/10 guys

Our first Gormans " chippie tea" Small cod & chips, steak pie, chips and curry sauce. All for £15.60. absolute bargain and absolutely tasty. Piping hot... fantastic. The serving staff deserve a special mention...polite respectful and all with a smile..a credit to Gormans. If you like amazing food and top notch service with prices that won't break the bank...this is the place to come.

Best fish and chips ive ever had!! It was so delicious i devoured it and have no pictures of it until i finished it! I had cod and chips and scampi! The batter is crispy but not greasy and paired with the best chips! The tartare sauce is top tier. The service is great too. Best-est of the best.

After reading reviews decided to give Gormans a try. We were very disappointed. Fish didn’t taste like cod and the chips were soggy as they were covered by the fish. On the plus side the batter was lovely. Service was very slow, took an hour to get served. Think we will be going back to The Harbour fish shop at Amble.

Chips arn't cooked in oil, they bathe in oil once your finished the chips you can scrape the lard like substance off the roof of your mouth, basic food nothing extraordinary standard fish and chip shop.

We are visiting the close by Sandy Bay Holiday Park and the on-site chippy was closed, and we are happy it was! We visited V Gormans and first impressions - its a busy takeaway so it must be popular with the locals. We ordered regular haddock and chips, sausages, curry sauce, gravy, and their homemade tartare sauce. The fish was basically a whale, absolutely delicious - I dread to think how big the XL would be if this was a regular! Chips were double cooked and really tasty, perfect sized portion. Curry sauce and gravy were nice, but the real star of the show is the home made tartare sauce. If you go here you HAVE to try it, its fantastic. The staff are very friendly, as would be expected of people from the North East. Prices are similar to most chippies nowadays due to inflation but the food is worth it!!

This is hands down the best chippy in the North East!! The food is unreal and consistent, never had a bad meal yet. I go here quite often for my dinner and always get the same thing, fish bites chips and gravy/curry off the lunchtime special menu. Batter is crispy, chips fresh out the fryer and the sauces nice and thick, portions are big too. The place is also very clean and the staff are lovely. This is a must visit place 😍

Lovely fish and chips from here, and loads of things on the menu all cooked as you wait, so it's all nice and hot for you when you get home.

Probably the best chippy in the area. Fish is always perfect and the chips are always cooked nice. But another price increase? £17.10 for cod bites and chips with a tub of curry and peas is a bit steep. The staff who work on the front taking orders are always spot on, very happy and polite. Just a shame the woman on the fryer couldn't be the same. Proper miserable, I don't think I've ever seen her smile.

This is now my go-to chip shop for a good quality hake & Chips, this is the second time i have ordered it and it is cooked to perfection and is a good size portion. if you haven't tried hake before, give it a go

Always busy but quick service. Chips are elite. Fish always crispy. Home made tartare sauce is the best in the region imo.

Many times on our way home we have phoned in an order to collect on the way past. Friendly staff, good food, decent portion sizes and food is ready for the time you wanted it. The 5 piece cod and chips easily feeds 2 if not 3 people, the tartare sauce is lovely and so are the beanies.

Ordered fish and chips for delivery, arrived quicker than I expected. lovely and hot tasted lovely but couldn’t eat it all big portion. Delivery guy was lovely and friendly and very professional, would definitely recommend 1st time I’ve had anything from here but won’t be the last

They use beef dripping (tallow) instead of vegetable oil, which is great as beef dripping makes the food healthier. I wish more restaurants and takeaways would be like this. FYI other restaurants use vegetable oil or sunflower oil. Vegetable oil is an inflammatory seed oil, it is high in omega 6 and linoleic acid, which damages cell membranes in the body when consumed.

Honestly became a little guilty pleasure! Found this little gem just through a friend and haven’t looked back, the place is so clean! The food is all cooked fresh when you go in and the patties are all homemade which just makes a massive difference to any chipshop! Service is amazing, the man on the front counter is so friendly, thank you for your service!

The fish ( haddock) was excellent however the chips less so. Delivered 15mns late which may account for it being not piping hot. Chips were disappointing.

Always hit and delicious fish n chips

The food came to £46 and was lukewarm warm. The battered cod and hake was bland bad the only thing making it tasty was the tartar sauce. Very disappointing. The deliver was between 5:30 and 5:50 and did not arrive until 6:30. This was meant to be a real treat for the family what a shame

Not great tonight unfortunately, chips were soggy & must of been stacked under a heavy order as box was holed so chips were seasoned with a nice sprinkle of wet cardboard & pizza was lukewarm 👎🏼 late too

They lie online and spread misinformation. Anyone that uneducated shouldn't be in the food industry. I'd question if anyone here actually has a hygiene or food safety qualification.

the fish was dry from sitting in the hot cupboard , bottom batter on fish was to hard to eat and fish welded to it , very disappointed 😔

said it was delivered yet when I rang it was still at the shop..said it was on its way and still sat here 30 minutes later..still not here

Ordered food to be delivered at 5:30 with an estimated time of 45 mins. At 7pm the food is not there. Called them and was told “we have been busy” “we are short on drivers” poor service and will not be using again!

The fish is always big (we order 'regular' size) and fresh tasting. The chips are generous in size and the order is always hot.

Just had what was meant to be haddock and chips from here. We are here on holiday and saw the good reviews so thought give it a try. In all honesty it was a bit of a disappointment, the best thing about it was the gravy. The fish while cooked fresh didn't taste like haddock and was extremely greasy, chips cold, so much so that our daughters cheese chips she had the cheese didn't even melt on them.. Chips were soggy and mushy peas tasted like they were full of sugar. I always like to leave an honest review so what I will say is that, the fish was cooked fresh, the service was great and the lady who served us was extremely polite. Just a shame our meal wasn't the best it could of been. 2 haddock and chips 1 cheesy chips 1 child Nuggets and chips Pot of peas Pot of gravy £38 So not the best value for money 😕. Found a few bad bits in the chips too.

Great little find, a fantastic Chippy. Friendly staff and clientele. Great food, Haddock & Chips, Cod & Chips, smothered in scraps. Plus 2 Cheese patties, Which were so nice, I wept after consumption.. A brilliant Chippy.
