Lovely place , nice and relaxed, beer spot on but a bit pricey, but worth a visit

I have visited twice and each occasion I felt very welcome and at ease. I enjoy my whiskey and rum and was impressed to learn more (especially when I think myself as a connoisseur). That being said the owner is humble, welcoming and well.. French, which means I may be slightly biased but cannot downplay my personal experience. On my return visit I went with my partner just before midday and enjoyed some more of my favourite spirits with the guidance of another well travelled and knowledgeable staff member. I would recommend the whisky tasting which I personally haven't done yet but will do on another trip. I know there are cheeses and charcuterie which I am sure are nice but I cannot personally verify.

Love this place, one of the best range of imported beers in the county! And I really don't know how they manage to sell their tap beer so cheaply.

Had some nibbles from a cheese buffet which was lovely but can't really say much about the food as we didn't have a meal. Not cheap but great range of beers and plenty of lovely wine

Visited with friends for a retro pudding evening presented by the Pudding hole, great fun and relaxed atmosphere with a large selection of beers on tap and lovely wines.

French bar with no champagne in the fridge... Weird.

I love starting off a nice summer's evening at V&B enjoying some great continental or craft beers, and sitting outside looking out on the Guildhall. It's not cheap but it's quality beer.

V&B is such a gem of a bar in Northampton. It also pairs as a shop as well and all the staff are super knowledgeable about the wine and beers they sell. They also have some great events throughout the weeks and showcase local independent food sellers. The monthly quiz is a favourite.

A little on the expensive side for me, but then I don't go out often to know if it's the norm or not. However, it's a nice place with plenty of drinking options, beer, wine etc.

Blimey - what a place THIS is! Service to die for, fantastic craft beers and wines, and a cheese board that would satisfy the most discerning of massive mice! Just go here or, frankly, you're rather daft.

V quirky bar right in the center of Northampton. They have a huge beer selection with a lot of really tasty, artisanal beers - would definitely recommend!

By far the best and only place to visit in Northampton

I love this place. Great little spot in the town center, and especially good ahead of going to venues such as the Derngate. 2 complaints though, measurements are not always on point, sometimes favouring a massive head (beer), in a way that sometimes makes it seem like I'm getting less bang for my buck. I opt for quieter evenings where poss, as the bar is vulnerable to bar hogs when busy, which is a problem on account the bar area being quite small, which unfortunately doesn't extend into the bar space upstairs, as far as I've seen. Other than that it seems to lure in a good crowd, and if that's all I've got to moan about that's a good thing. Mentioning it in the interests of being honest. Staff attitude is second to none. Great location too. Can be expensive, close to London prices for beer at times, not in all cases, but then again the beer is quite special, and it's something I'm able to accept in light of a wealth of additional positives. I hope it remains! I've eaten here too, and found it nice for light bites. The cheese is great! Try the shop as well.

Fantastic beer and wine tap selection, or buy a bottle / can and drink it there or take to go. The kid who helped us had impressive knowledge of beer and wine, as he was in university for wine and really knew the beer scene. Highly recommended!

Fantastic choice of beers and wines. Friendly staff and small waiting times. Didn't have food as we visited at 10pm, but I believe they serve nibbles during the day. There was a very strange smell in there, couldn't work out whether it was the cheese they sell, it was sweaty in there or it was a bit of both! We sat outside though and the view was lovely.

If you go to one place in Northampton, it has to be V&B. An amazing range of wines and a superb range of frequently-changing beers (including delicious stouts). Delicious olives, cheese and charcuterie to accompany the beverages perfectly.Beautiful surroundings, excellently laid-back ambience and extremely helpful staff. For locals, it's actually one of the few places worth going into town for.

We popped here for the first time today and had a couple of really good craft beers. It’s a lovely place with friendly knowledgeable staff. The building was decorated beautifully for Christmas. We will be back another time to buy some wine and try a cheese board.

The food was so yummy, the service was very pleasant and it has a cosy friendly atmosphere about it. Would definitely recommend!

Amazing range of wines, beers (including continental on tap) and French- style bar snacks, we had great French cheese toasties, but they do cheese boards, charcuterie and so on. Definitely an oenophile place. We had fresh Delerium Tremens Christmas beer from Belgium. It was well-kept.

Love this place! Outside you get a great atmosphere of the town. Inside you get a great atmosphere of chill and jazz. Love the Friday night tasting evenings and the service is always excellent. Try the mozed board for nibbles!

Absolutely love V&B Wine Bar in Northampton! This place is a gem with its fantastic selection of French wines that you can enjoy right at the bar or take home. The owners and staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and always ready with spot-on recommendations. But it's not just about the wines – their beer shop and spirit room offer an impressive array of options, including French Rhum that's hard to resist. The variety of beers on tap or in bottles is a perfect; often spoilt for choice from IPAs, to stouts to sours. The wine and spirit tasting events here are top-notch. I had the pleasure of attending a whisky tasting with Lox, who expertly guided us through a journey of Scotch Whiskeys from different regions of Scotland. It was an educational and palate-pleasing experience and very good value for money. And let's not forget the food! From saucisson to cheese and other delectable nibbles, V&B knows how to complement their drinks with delicious bites. But that's not all – during the summer, the outdoor seating is a true delight. The atmosphere is electric, with DJs, open mic sessions, art gallery viewing, and even comedy nights providing excellent entertainment. Hands down, V&B Wine Bar is my favorite spot in Northampton. The combination of exceptional drinks, delectable food, friendly staff and clientele and lively events make it an unforgettable experience every time I visit. Cheers to the V&B team for creating such a fantastic place!

Excellent piece of France in Northampton

Amazing selection of ales and wines. Always a Great atmosphere and relaxing music.

Excellent beer, wine and music on Thursday. I would recommend this place if you like your cheese. The ground floor is small, with maybe 2 tables. The top floor is excellent, especially if they have live music playing. The cheese is sold by a french guy who really knows his stuff. Unfortunately, it was a little too smelly for me, not that the cheese was bad, it's just a personal choice. I'm sure a cheese lover would love this place. They have seating outside too, which I would recommend. The view you get outside is brilliant.

Excellent selection of beer on tap with varying strengths. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Ideally situated if you want a drink before or after the Theatre, (2 mins walk).

Decent enough place, nice to be able to sit out the front, my only gripe is the annoying music they insist on playing, the incessant beat that you never know when one song finishes from the next, crowd was kinda aged 35 upwards and you're playing stuff as though we're at Ocean beach!

Had been on my list to visit for quite a while. Good meats and cheeses, and beer options. I'd love to come back for wine. Unfortunately the bread was a bit sad. Need a bit more effort to add accompaniments to the boards as other than the high quality meat and cheese they are a bit basic. Unfortunately we had much better similarly-priced boards elsewhere (not local, Hampshire) the following week which lowered my opinion of this place slightly.

Famous place, if you want something original- welcome, really nice warm please mixed with shop, you can buy any drink and go around free check assortment and buy something to your home or friends, professional staff always ready to help if you lost in a really big assignment, see you soon guys!!!

Great place, cheeses, meats and the wines and spirits are brilliant. Just somewhere “good” to go in the centre without having to worry. Great idea and owner Florian and his wife are great “hosts”. The taster sessions also run there are great to attend (whisky tasting session done). Just 10:30pm comes round too soon!?!

Great venue in a good location opposite the Guildhall. Nice rance of world wines, spirits and beers at reasonable prices, with a good selection available for tasting on draught. Seating available inside with a patio area at the front. Bread and cheese boards are available to order. Good value for money, staffed by the wonderful Florian and Harriet. Would return again

I have frequented this place multiple times since it has opened this year (2022), the selection of wine and beers is unparalleled in Northampton. I have also purchased some of their wines available in the shop, all of which were well received. I am looking forward to going to one of the many events that they host in-house for some speciality tastings! Thanks V&B, look forward to my next visit!

Great craft ale selection and service

The V & B stands for Vin & Bière so it is unsurprisingly a quirky French place. They are trying to establish a "street bar" feel and have mostly succeeded with this mild Summer. A great place to people watch over some (expensive) ales and hors d'oeuvres while listening to Andy Skanks (or another cool DJ) spin their disks outside.

V&B went above and beyond helping us to choose our wedding wine and helped us choose a few delicious bottles at a good price. They couldn't have been more helpful. Thanks again Harriet! Sam

Really great shop and bar full of amazing beers and French cheeses

Have visited a few times since opening and cannot recommend V&B enough! Insanely good value on drinks, which are always served in lovely glassware and super cold. Staff are mega friendly and happy to help with recommendations even when it's busy too. As a plus size person I will say the seating isn't super comfortable or accessible for those with mobility issues as it's a lot of stools and metal chairs - but it hasn't put me off going back so far. The outdoor seating area is really lovely for a sunny day/evening too. Haven't tried the platters for food yet but will be back to try ASAP!

Just popped in for a quick drink but it was lovely and we will come back. So happy to see a selection of really nice alcohol free beers and wines and also gluten free beers!

New wine and beer bar. There is also a shop and a spirits room with wines, beers, ciders and spirits from all over the world. Inside and outside seating, wine tasting session and a French inspired deli section if you want a snack with your wine. Very friendly staff and owners. Relaxed and safe vibe. Give it a try :)
