The pub hosted a wake for a family member and the service we received couldn't have been any better. The bar itself was clean, cosy, and warm, with real fires that added to the homely feel. There was a huge selection of drinks to choose from, and all of the staff were super friendly and helpful. Could not fault the buffet food —the quality, quantity, or variety. Everyone left happy and several commented on what a great afternoon it had been despite the sad circumstances.

This place has been my local on and off since 1989.. Before the refurbishment it was cozy, warm and homely with a great atmosphere, no aggro and plenty of choice for drinks and the meal choices were always generous. Since the refurb the pub it is spacious, warm and welcoming with a great range of real ales.

Excellent pub, brilliant friendly staff. Went on Sunday and had a Pork Bap with stuffing and apple sauce, with a side of roast potatoes and a pot of gravy. Absolutely beautiful, a perfect light Sunday lunch, can’t recommend highly enough. Lovey atmosphere, a great traditional pub which welcomes dogs

A clean well presented pub with pleasant bar staff and a fantastic range of ales. It is also dog friendly, which is great after a walk round Chasewater.

Excellent selection of well kept Ales, 16 I think. Lager drinkers also catered for. Large , choice of spirits and wine too. Very friendly and efficient staff. Food consists of cheese and onion and ham and tomato cobs ,freshly made. Also Scotch eggs and pork pies for sale. Very good atmosphere and well worth a visit with drinks at a very reasonable price.

Extremely poor service poorly trained staff, better pubs within 2 min walk. I will not be going back.

Popped in for a pint to see the refit. First visit ever. Looks nice, however was confronted by two angry old ladies who didn’t appear interested in serving myself and colleague. Beer excellent but dreadful unwelcome atmosphere. Shame after spending all that money on a refurbishment. Won’t be going there again.

I live a short distance from this pub and used to frequent it occasionally pre-covid. It's been closed for quite some time due to the coronavirus and then afterwards it's had a complete refurb, opening again just a few days ago, so I thought I'd drop by for a look. As well as a paint-job facelift on the outside, the interior has been completely revamped and is unrecognisable from before. Staff are friendly and the place has a convivial atmosphere. Unfortunately it looks as if the customers will be paying for the refurb, because this pub is pricey. OK so it's had a refit. I get that, but there are several pubs within walking distance that have equally impressive decor, and every one is considerably cheaper. So I have to say, I had a nice drink with you guys but I won't be coming back, unless you sort out your prices.

This is an old fashioned pub with excellent quality home cooked food. No frills but excellent quality and a good selection of real ale/beer too. Tim's Guinness is as good as any you will find here or in Ireland. A wonderful find. All the home made food choices are excellent. Local sourced food/meat from an excellent butcher. Well done to all concerned. We WILL RETURN again and again.

A really good welcome from the staff at this traditional British pub. We were allowed to try the real ale on offer; it was well kept good quality ale but all quite fruity or hoppy and not to my taste. I was disappointed that there were no dark ales available. In the end I chose Guinness which was very good. The food was really tasty and good value. I had faggots which were most enjoyable. I will return to this boozer and hope to find the odd dark ale on offer.

1 of 5 pubs within a few minutes’ walk of each other. Car park left hand side of pub. This pub was lovely, quiet & relaxed on our visit. Food available to eat as well, but as I just had Sunday lunch that went out the window for a next visit. 5 nice different type’s real ales available, not just the normally run of the mill stuff you get at other establishments. A nice place to visit.

Astronomical prices! I called for a pint, only cider on was Somersby, it cost me £4.85 Dreadful place. No damn wonder it was empty, never again. Avoid, Wetherspoons is next door.

First time visit and so impressed. Lovely varied menu. Had chicken sandwich and veg sandwich followed by cream tea and Victoria sponge. All excellent and one of the best cream teas we have had for many months. (All served in proper cups and saucers too) Menu looks expensive but high quality and big portions make it good value. An excellent afternoon treat and we will return.
