Great professional and friendly staff...

Had a very disappointing experience eating here. The food used to be of a far higher standard than it is now. The cost was very high for what it was and the food was very overcooked. The food also took a long time to make, which would be understandable if the place was busy but there were only a few customers in at the time. Although they had a kids menu, they didn't really have much suitable for kids drinks wise only water and J20.

Came for Mother's Day and came away disappointed. Seated in the dining area but had to order everything at the bar. We waited 45 from ordering to receiving food . I had grilled chicken wrap with sweet potato fries , the chicken was very plain with no seasoning, fries were good. My wife had fish goujons and chips , fish over cooked and tasted like they were cheap frozen ones from shop. My mother in law had turkey roast , the roast and gravey were good but potatoes and veg were verging on cold . Had a good discount for being members and free glass of fizz for Mother's Day. The young lad on the bar was great but at times the only one on . Hard to say I would recommend as all of us were disappointed and none of the staff came and asked if everything was ok .

Food here is horrid. Ordered the fish and chips along with the king of protein (shrimp noodle bowl). There isn't a hint of salt or flavor in the food. At least the fries were okay. Don't get the loaded fries, just a sad slop. They also charge for foundation drinks refill. Wild. Don't eat here unless you're really desperate.

The food was pretty good 👍. Had sundy lunch. We may have been nursing mild hangovers, so we were in need of hearty sustenance! We were not disappointed. The atmosphere is pretty stale but not unpleasant. It's very causal, but even so, please put the staff in better uniforms! These polo shirts are not only unflattering, but they make the poor people working there look like the average punter. But we'll be back for sure!

I feel like some of these negative reviews are either just completely incorrect or the restaurant has since changed things, as we did not experience the mentioned problems at all. Food was good, pretty much what I expected from a grill. Large selection of classics, burgers, steaks, etc. Restaurant area was order at the bar and sit wherever you like, service was very fast, we had our food within 10 minutes.

This is also the hotel review as well. Elevator doesn’t work in this place, had to carry luggage up a bunch of stairs. For the restaurant I guess the hours say they close at 11 but when you walk up the host said they closed already and it’s 9:36 on a Saturday mind you. They’re also very strict with the pool, you have to get out of the jacuzzi every 5 minutes when the bubbles stop. Google had this hotel listed as a 4 star and so far it’s been a 1 or 2 star hotel, nothing even around the area. Stay away from Village Hotel in Edinburgh

Used to be a good place. Half was bar space, half was a restuaraunt space. Arrived on Sunday for a Sunday Roast, was shown to a table and left. Fast Forward, 15 mins and i have gotten my own menu's and then ordered from the bar- while this doesnt bother me, its a pain in the arse when your not told and have to work it out for yourself Food came, and while its ok for 17 quid we paid, it is pretty unforgettable and is an extenstion of the lame service we suffered. Wont be in a rush to go back, place is pretty sterile of atmosphere, and servics is pretty rubbish. Shame to see this, as its well placed to get folk through the door

The worst service ever, I waited for them more than 30 minutes to take my order, and more than 40 minutes to bring it.

A grill... without food... We arrived and were told that although this is a grill, there are no steaks at all and I was insulted by the question: "Would you like a salad instead?" If I wanted a salad I would not have travelled 40 min from the other end of Edinburgh to a "grill". Then we saw burgers on the menu, but I was told they are not gluten-free because "they arrive with the bread". Is this a joke? Finally, we were informed there is no gluten-free meat on the whole menu! At that moment we had to leave and realized this is not a grill but a joke. But - as long as you don't eat - it has a cool atmosphere

Ich war heute mit meiner Familie hier zum Essen. Das Personal war super nett und sehr zuvorkommend. Ich hatte auch das Gefühl, dass sie sich gut mit glutenfrei auskennen und das Beste für unseren Sohn wollten. Das Essen war wirklich sehr sehr gut. Und alles wurde zu unserer vollsten Zufriedenheit erfüllt. Dankeschön.

absolutely amazing and very filling. Very friendly staff very engaging and made sure everything was perfect. The cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding was out of this world

This company needs to just stop, served off chicken and the "cheese" could have been presented in a homeless mans hat and would have tasted better!

surly staff, dirty tables, many menu options in the nutritious SEction unavailable,overpriced, Loud, inappropriate "dance music" playing when the only others in the restaurant were middle aged like myself, freezing cold, dirty toilet and overall completely disappointing . The lack of customer service is sadly appalling. And the failure to respond to my numerous attempts to contact and bring the experience to the sattention of management adds insult to injury. I suggest you vote with your feet and dine elsewhere even if you are staying overnight at the hotel,

Possibly the worst “roast dinner with all the trimmings” no gravy. A whole leg of chicken dried out, tasted awful. Some sort of flat “yorkie pudding” Luke warm pigs n blankets. Never seen something look so disgusting and taste horrible.

Although the food was nice, the service was seriously lacking. The waitress was going to get us menus, which never came. Fetched them myself after 10 minutes. Supposed to be an app you can order from. Good luck if you can find it. I stood in a queue for about 40 minutes to get a beer and a coke. As for deserts, I have no idea as there was no way I was standing in that queue again. Serious staff issues that need addressing!

Awful food at expensive prices. Meat in the burger was like a shoe. Chicken tikka masala was the worst curry I've ever had. No taste to it whatsoever and very watery, papadums weren't fresh. This will definitely put me off from eating at Village Hotel ever again.

It’s great there nice staff very good food

Picked a starter which didn't arrive for ages, when it did it was served same time as my main course which I didn't ask for meaning while I'm eating one,the other is going cold. Gave me the wrong sides with our meals.dont get me wrong very polite and happy to change this for me,waited ages,rest of food cold,we just left, complete waste of money and left hungry.

Superb place to go outwith the city centre

Could have been a whole lot better with table service, food was ok (Mexican stack) burger and fries was filling. Dining area was lovely and warm, both a bar style area and a dining room style area. Both clean and tidy. Staff were pleasant and helpfull Ample parking in the vacinity for hotel users, gym visitors and people looking to eat. Nice area to lounge in out with the dining hall for after a meal. All in all a nice location and a much needed revamp of the local area. Would return. As indicated would work for myself much better if there was table service. Would return though.

Just had the most fantastic, healthy fillet steak! Served in an Asian broth with bok choi, mushrooms, chillies, sesame seeds and spring onions, I asked for my steak to be as rare as chef was willing to cook it. It was a perfectly cooked blue steak, a real taste sensation!

Very tasty food and good service. We took the fish and chips and it was just perfect. A big crispy cod fish. soft on the inside and crispy on the outside fries. and mashed peas. Good quantity of a meal.

Juice glasses were just out the dishwasher and was roasting hot. Had to use a cup for fruit juice. No poached or fried eggs.

Banged head off metal light shade which was curiously lower than every other one. Brought tears to eyes. Don't get the pizza, dry, flavourless. Pricey for such a restricted menu. Allergens not listed on menu. Veggie options not clear either. Veggie burgers not great.

Took 20mins just to bring over drinks during a time when there was only 6 other customers. Didn’t bring sides with main dish but brought them right at the end. Really really bad service.

Good selection of drinks, good food and friendly staff. Big screen tv's for sports. Large car park and plenty nearby bus stops taking you into town or Leith.

Food very average at high prices and staff very unprofessional blaming each other for mistakes in front of customers, wont be going back.
