What a diamond of a cafe serving excellent range of breakfast choices in a warm and friendly environment. Tables inside and out, food cooked to order. Absolutely loved it! Everything from traditional to pancakes to smashed avocado and poached eggs on toast. Big selection very tasty all locally sourced and very reasonably priced. A definite winner.

We love to eat breakfast out as a treat and honestly this is the best breakfast we’ve had for years. Beautifully cooked and nothing was too much trouble. Everything arrived in good time and the cost was extremely reasonable; we’ve paid a lot more for far less quality. If you’re in Norwich do make an effort to go, you won’t be disappointed.

Just like home. When you enter the restaurant there is this feeling of being somewhere you belong. Super kind staff. Very, I repeat, very fair prices, and amazing food overall. Freshly sourced and cooked on the spot. It is a great spot to have brunch. 100% recommended and congrats to the owner for the great place they run.

This second rate greasy spoon puports to be more than it is. The owner is uncouth and has little regard for customers well being holding loud and animated conversations with builders, when asked to give us a little space we were told to F**k Off. On top off that the poached eggs were watery and the mushrooms leathery and unedible! We left our food and refused to pay!

Came across cafe by chance, looking for somewhere for breakfast with my wife and drove past and decided to give it a go. Glad I did. Cosy no nonsense cafe with good decor, and great music, and friendly staff (especially the manager/chef). I ordered a Spanish breakfast and my wife american pancakes. My wife, who's a pancake connoisseur said hers were great, and mine was fantastic - full of flavour and vibrant colours. Don't normally do reviews, but felt this place really deserved to be given a thumbs up review.

Absolutely amazing. I had the large Gluten Free breakfast and the sausages and bacon were really nice, locally sourced too. Highly recommend this place. They serve strangers coffee too. The owner is hilarious, very honest but a real nice chap and the kitchen been in his family since 2015. He has a lot of passion for the place since taking over from his mum 4 years ago and whilst it looks a bit like a greasy spoon (it serves breakfasts, not sure how else it should look!) you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how good the food is

Enjoyed a family brunch whilst in Norwich in this cute little cafe after a recommendation. It is by no means refined (think tea served with teabag and milk in at the same time for you to fish the bag out!) however the food was really good and staff friendly. It was busy which is a great sign. Lots of different things on the menu alongside your standard fry and pancakes including bubble and squeak and the Spanish breakfast which I had which was delicious

The food is not refined but is always amazing - with really big portions for the price. The Full English is particularly good and great before a day in the city (or after a hangover). Staff are always really friendly and the outdoor seating is great in the warm weather/during Covid. The inside is quite small so indoor seating can sometimes be difficult to get during peak times.

Our family of four had breakfast here on the last day of our short break in Norwich, staying across the road in an apartment. We ordered two standard breakfasts, a kids breakfast and Eggs benedict between the four of us. The standard breakfast is bigger than the description lets on, so the more hungry of punters might be satisfied without needing to go for the larger option. The bread for toast is extra thick too. And my favourite, the eggs benedict, was superb. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Went to have a breakfast on a Sunday morning, but the small cafe was full so we went back to the pavement to decide what to do instead, as we were waiting one of the staff came out of the cafe and told us she would get someone to move up if we didn't mind sharing a table. When we got inside we found the food very reasonable and very tasty. I had the Spanish breakfast which i found to be a full and hearty breakfast and my girlfriend had a full English, the local sausages and bacon was of a very high quality. Definitely recommend this place for great food at a decent price.

Came here for brunch for my friends birthday with just a small group of us and had the best experience - could not complain about one element. They cooked and brought out all the breakfasts at the same time and when they forgot one meal they were so apologetic and got it out to our table straight away with barely any delay. Lovely staff and they gave my friends a sweet treat for her birthday without even having to ask. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be coming back. All around great experience!

If there was an option to give this cafe six stars I would have done.......we turned up on a busy Sunday morning a group of ten of us and the owner could not have been hospitable. He made space for us out the back as the cafe was full and made the occasion so special. On top of that all the food came out together, piping hot, exactly what we had asked for, (and a number of people had asked for specific things/changes etc). We all thought the food was delicious, good quality and cooked excellently. None of us could believe the effort that this little cafe had gone to to make us feel so welcome. It was 20 years ago as students since many of the group had been and therefore we had worried it would have been nothing like we had remembered. But it did not let us down! All of us said we would not be leaving it another 20 years to return!!

Heard great things about this place from a variety of friends. Visited saturday 13th april. Went inside and we weren't greeted by staff cleaning. Not very big inside by the way. Had a large full English and very average. Big portion but got 3 pieces of buttered bread (probably best part as was actually really nice) and 1 over done fried toast. Was so hard i had to nearly snap it. And why two types of bread? one or the other. Bacon was hard and over done, i like crispy bacon but theres a limit. Sausages didn't taste great. Beans were too dry and thick as if been reheated. Mushrooms were bland. Hashbrowns over done, eggs not runny enough and this is beginning to sound disastrous.. it wasn't but considering the hype i had high expectations of this place. It wasn't worth what i paid for it. The latte was very nice though. Has a large and accommodating menu. Students and hipsters will love this place. Take cash

We visited today and this has to be the worst customer service I have ever had, firstly the guy behind the counter (owner I believe) was very moody and everything we asked for seemed like such an effort for him,Food seemed to take forever and we it came out it seemed ok until my wife found a hair in her food. She went to the counter and told the chap, who then said it's not mine not even followed with a sorry... He then gave my wife her money back and continued to make her feel bad for bringing it too his attention and to top it all off he waited until we walked away and then opened the door and shouted at us. Disgusting behaviour and a complete disgrace, avoid like the plague if you want good food and good customer service.

Bloke who worked in there was not friendly at all when we ordered and then half way through eating I found a hair in my breakfast! I showed him which he then became rude as I asked for my money back and told me it wasn’t his hair. Seeing as it was mixed with the beans I’m pretty sure it was. Anyway giving me attitude he gave me my money back with no apology. And then as we left he shouted out of the door to my husband and I. One hungry morning wanting a more reasonably priced brunch I visited the Unthank Kitchen. The cooked breakfast was good – as far as standard breakfasts go. White toasted bread, sausage, hash browns, fried egg, bacon and cheap beans. This was approx £5 and worth it. The coffee was £2.70 however, admittedly it was Strangers and locally roasted. However it did jar with cost of breakfast – a cappuccino at that price is cheaper at many of the main places in the city. Mine was mostly froth also. Staff ok and vibe fine, so standard affair but overpriced coffee.

I went here today with my friend for breakfast, I bought my 2 children with me (2.5 and 7 months) my 2 year old very excited as you can imagine and was a little bit of a handful, he was told to be quiet a few times by a member of staff and I as a young mother of 2 tried to calm him down and keep him quiet, which if anyone with children can understand it is a bit challenging at times. In the end we were made to feel very uncomfortable and asked again to tell my child to be quiet, after this comment I was bought to tears and we decided to leave, I was absolutely horrified that an establishment like this thinks it's ok to make a young mother feel awful because her child was making a bit of noise. We kept getting looks from the lady on the counter, and after about 20 minutes the lady came over and said "im going to have to ask you to be quiet as other customers are turning their noses up" we were absolutely mortified, that in this day and age a mother and her children can not go out and have breakfast without being told her children are too noisy! We are disgusted by this and left straight away. We feel this is awful treatment, let's face it whoever has had kids would know they can be a little noisy at times! But to be near enough asked to leave was disgusting!!!! My friend is very embarrassed and will struggle to pluck up the courage to meet friends out and about now due to having children!!!! After popping in for lunch at 2:30pm, we were greeted with uncomfortable glances and a general bad aura. After being told that the kitchen would stop serving at 3, we informed the lady at the desk that we were going to have a walk down the road and look at a couple more menus. After deciding that we in fact wanted an 'all day' breakfast from the Unthank Kitchen after all, we were told unceremoniously by the incredibly rude chef that he had 'closed the kitchen and there was nothing that he could do' 5 minutes after we had initially come in. After being left quote upset and dissapointed with our treatment, we decided to go to the Mulberry a couple of doors down, which was lovely. Visited 3 days in a row to indulge in their amazing vegan breakfast, amazing sausages and great service from all of the staff. Highly recommend, not just for vegans, my friends came along and enjoyed their full English just as much!

Ordered a sausage and egg sandwich , it was delivered all ripped apart like a dog had started to eat it. It was stone cold, dry and hard I def would not recommend'

…but when I told the chef he said he'd check it out and then did nothing. That's the worst part. I've only been there twice and both times it's been bad.

My daughter and I had an early breakfast. She chose the gluten free option and I had the vegetarian plate, but with 'bubble & squeak' instead of hash browns. It was superb. I could have eaten just the ' bubble & squeak' as it had lots of vegetables: carrots, cabbage, courgettes and delicious herbs. There was a 20% discount for early diners ( we ate at 830 am) and, together with the delicious mega cup of fresh coffee, both breakfasts with the drink was under a tenner. A brilliant, nutritious and tasty breakfast! Quality and great value.

Had the vegetarian breakfast - delicious - served fresh and hot from the friendly staff, good ingredients, portion size and very reasonably priced! Reccomend highly, a real neighbourhood gem!

Great varied breakfast menu (with gluten free option). It was very, very busy (which speaks volumes). We had to wait quite a while for our food, which was the only disappointment

Best place to go with a group of friends, friendly atmosphere great for a catch up with a good friend or somewhere to eat after a heavy night out, it's perfect for students like myself. Would still recommend to people of all ages though. Best fry up I've had in a cafe or restaurant and great prices too.

My partner and I met a friend at The Unthank Kitchen for the Bumper Breakfast and wasn't disappointed. I'm not a lover of bacon and so swapped with sausage, this wasn't a problem and after a short wait our plates came. The food was great, no greasy spoon here, roasted tomatoes, great tasting sausages, all washed down with a mug of tea. Speciality teas on offer too. The menu has options for gluten free, vegetarian and vegan. The girls were all great, friendly and polite and would have no problem going back and trying something else (sausage and caramelised onion toastie sounded good).

Shouldn't have been surprised really, as last visit was ruined by rude staff and mediocre food- but thought I'd give it one last try. Mistake.

Fantastic cheese and fruit scones! We cannot have enough of them. Friendly service. You can also get the scones at the market in Norwich or at a kiosk in the cathedral precinct.

Really nice and cosy pub with good outdoor seating. Nice choice of draught beer/ale. Everyone who works there is really nice. Only downside is it’s a bit more on the pricey side and I always struggle to get a place to sit - sometimes it’s a bit too popular for its own good. Not much they can do about that though

Love going to this BB's as you can usually get a seat and its tucked away in a quiet area in the castle quarter. The food is always tasty and the drinks are good too. The service is quick and they are always friendly with plenty of smiles. The staff seem to enjoy working there as well which I think makes for a nice atmosphere. They obviously have regulars who they have chats with and a catch up but are not pushy if you dont want to talk much. They seem very genuine. Keep up the good work.

Atmospheric pub in Norwich, well located with smiley, friendly car staff. My only gripe is they are cashless so I had to put £2.50 for a tonic water (driving!) on a card, they would have lost any profit in charges, cash should always be an option imo.
