St Andrews Brew House in Norwich

Good atmosphere for a Friday afternoon. Had a couple of decent beers. Only wish that bar stools have backs to them - better for more (shall we say) aged customers 🙂 when no chairs available.

Quiet Monday lunch so can't really comment on atmosphere. Sat outside in the sun people watching. Working days lunch

I used to love this place but what the hell happened. Bored staff, dull atmosphere and the beer considering it was made on-site was piss poor except one I had. Really disappointing

Absolutely Lovely little brewery, the staff were kind and quick to serve everyone, the food was really filling and tasted authentic. the ale was super refreshing and an easy drink for sure, would 100% recommend!

Our second visit to Norwich and to the Brew House which on the first occasion was very good but this time we had a long wait at lunchtime for some very overpriced underwhelming food. At no point did the staff check on us or apologise for the wait. As the place was quiet I’ve no idea why it took so long. One to scratch off the list.

Fantastic place with a brilliant atmosphere. Large windows make it feel like an indoor/outdoor hybrid, giving a beer garden feeling in the summertime, even from inside! I was here for a gig a while ago and think fondly of it often, and hope to return in the near future.

Went here on a Tuesday evening for some dinner. Beers are perfectly kept, lots of choice. Something for everyone. Ordered fish and chips that arrived in good time. The portion size was generous, cooked well and tasty. Pop in it's worth it.

We really enjoyed our meal and the service was relaxed yet the staff were professional and accommodated without much fuss, which we appreciated. Some of the best chips in town and the nachos were really tasty too. We've been before and returned again after a hiatus to be reminded of why we need to go more often. With a couple of veggie options for each sitting - the dishes felt considered and don't feel like an afterthought, which is always a bonus as a vegetarian! Look forward to returning again.

Food was overpriced and average.

The food was lovely and service was quick. The staff were friendly. I was also really happy to find out that they have gendered and gender-neutral bathrooms.

Fantastic food and great atmosphere!

One of the nicest pubs I've ever had the pleasure of drinking in, the staff were very welcoming to both me and my friend visiting from Germany, and were lovely to talk to. The Beers on offer were lovely, especially the Jubel Peach Lager, which impressed my German friend very much, and if that isn't indicative of a great pint then I don't know what is, plus the koffmann chips were amazing. Definitely visiting St Andrews Brew House again!

Booked a table for 6pm, whilst we arrived early, it was just as well it took 45 minutes to get our main course, we ordered dessert but ended up cancelling it. 30 minutes later still no dessert! The food we actually had was lovely but the kitchen needs a rocket up their arse! So in total it took 1.5 hours and only managed to get a main course! Would not recommend and WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!!!!

Lovely pub, superb beer. The place was packed with Christmas event customers when we visited but the staff were very quick and we barely had to wait.

The Brew House is a great city pub. They always have guest IPAs, it’s more expensive than the Rumsey but it’s good to have another pub with decent craft beer.

A busy warm buzzing beer house with fantastic beers, wines and food. We went for a couple of pints and then the meat / fish sharing platter with a cold bottle of wine. Initially thought that the platter was a bit small but it filled us both and there was no waste. Very tasty. Don’t be put off if you’re in a wheelchair. There is an accessible toilet at the back of the eating area and the staff are quick to help with a ramp to negotiate the small step between the bar and restaurant area. We always stop here when visiting Norwich. It’s actually my favourite part of the day out!

My kind of place. This place looked great from the outside and so we popped in for a beer. It's a fascinating place with emphasis on shabby chic. Great selection of beers many of which are brewed on the premises. We stayed and had some great nachos to keep us going. The porter was fantastic. Plus someone mentioned the Blue light card which we used for a handy discount.

Good food, good beer, good service. What's not to like?

Twenty eight gathered for a pre-wedding St-hen night. The pub had set an area aside for us. We were looked after very well. Some stayed til closing. Thanks to all staff at St Andrews Brewhouse.

Went in on a quiet Sunday for the roast - they took 45 minutes even to take our order so it seemed a bit of a cheek when we discovered they'd automatically added a 10% service charge onto the bill at the end. The food was pretty expensive but the plate was very beige in both colour and taste - the only thing that had any taste was the mustard on the side. It was also dry and lukewarm so I didn't feel it was worth the money. Still, the host was friendly and the atmosphere was nice.

Food OK. Beer very good. Service painfully slow. 25 mins to bring main and 30 mins to bring desert. Not good when you have tickets to be somewhere.

Of the two Barsham beers we tried, we much preferred the Golden Close over the Norfolk Topper.

Hired the private bar upstairs back in August, brilliant service from all staff from moment of contact through to the evening itself. Slightly better beer selection downstairs but more than enough to appease everyone. Party/finger food provided is good, though the gluten free cake was rock solid and very dense. Difficult to eat after 3-4 pints!

Stopped for lunch. Food was OK- pork bap and chips were good but chicken caeser salad was disappointing with hard bacon bits, small capers and no anchovies. Friendly staff. Sat outside with dog, but we saw someone going in with theirs, so seems to be dog friendly.

Had an excellent Sunday roast chicken here with a pint of Jubel Grapefruit. Highly recommended and will visit again.

From what I can remember, it was great beer, great service and a great atmosphere.

Good food, good beer (but expect to pay £5.50 a pint - or more) and friendly service. This microbrewery has atmosphere too. I had no reservation, but got a table quickly. First beer was off, but the barmaid changed it without fuss, remaining cheerful. Ask what beers they have on tap - they're not all listed in the menu.

Order a drink but couldn't pay pounds sterling cash.... really? It seems a lame extended COVID excuse to say it's to reduce environmental impact, sorry Lou, this is an odd discriminating business decision needs to change for the sake of pub loving locals?

Excellent choice of beers and wines and an innovative menu. The staff members are all exceptionally friendly and polite. The location is great for people watching too!

We had a lovely family lunch here with lots of space for a pushchair and high chair. Lots of options to choose from on the menu, even without the specials board being available. The staff were so friendly, I don't think they could have done anything more for us. Well definitely come back another time, thank you

Lovely food and a great atmosphere at this pub/restaurant. The pub is also decorated really nice, with illustrations on doors, pipes being used as stair rails and gorgeous paintings. The food here is absolutely great, with a good selection on offer. I love how the water comes in bottles with newspaper prints on them, a lovely touch! Staff are very attentive and helpful. I will be returning! Thanks guys for a wonderful meal.

Absolutely disgusted with this place, went in for a quiet pint sat near a couple who I got talking to who were polite and conversed as humans do then sat next to two people who were playing a board game asked if I could watch which they happily agreed, the barman then came over and asked me to leave. I was sitting basically minding my own business. I was quiet and wanted to observe their game and got asked to leave. Discrimination at its finest. Will never go back.

Try the rack of beers for smaller taster that you can mix and match to taste more. Food is good and there's a bustling vibe at peak times. Seats outdoors if the sunsnout for pavement cultures

Went for lunch after being 'turned away' at Bills having been offered a table in about '1 hour' (complete b.s.). We really enjoyed The Brew House and will definitely go back again - we've been to a few Bill's locations now and like it, but won't use the Norwich one again. The Brew House Restaurant is part of the pub (an independent brewery I think) by St Andrew's Church - just a stone's throw outside Norwich's main market area, and well worth the short trip. Whether you want pub classics (e.g. beer battered fish and chips) or something more modern and healthy, the menu has plenty of choice and caters for different needs and preferences. We had the open chicken kebab, tofu pie and loaded fries, with a side order of regular chips. The portions were slightly on the generous side, and quality was good, overall prices very reasonable at about £20 per head including drinks - although there are also deals available, and you would spend more with extra courses. The food itself was great, the dishes were cooked really well, nicely presented and served in good time. The staff looked after us well, being polite and attentive, and there was no pressure to vacate the table at the end of the meal. The restaurant/pub itself has lovely decor throughout that relates to the brewery, with plenty of natural materials and old signage making it an interesting place to be in. There's a good feeling of space at the tables, and the restaurant's seating area is largely shielded away from the bar area, giving it its own feel. I'm sure this would be a popular hangout on a Saturday night, make for a good date location - or a family meal at weekends - especially with the choice of drinks available. While the Brew House crowd is quite diverse in age ranges, reflecting the city-center local and pub/restaurant stays, the place has a lovely ambience and speaks of quality - definitely a good place to spend time.

Good pub, food and excellent service. There is a good atmosphere here. Handy because it is close to St Andrew's Halls where there are different events regularly.

This is a great pub in a great location. Brewing their own beers adds to the attraction. Also, the music is generally of my taste, enhancing the atmosphere.

The food was okay (although expensive for the amount and quality, and the Pig Roll was cold). The rest of the experience was pretty bad. I asked about their key-worker discount and was told to use the app to link my blue light card, then to order and apply it. Reached the end of the ordering process to be told I had to send off my ID and wait 3 days for verification... Anyway, we decided to go ahead, paid full price, and waited. For about 30 minutes. The money had been debited from my account, so I went to the bar only to be told 'the order had failed'. When I checked on the app the order status had changed from 'processed' to 'failed', but I had not received a notification, from the staff or the app. I now ordered at the bar instead, flashing my blue light card and getting the key worker discount I'd asked about in the first place. We waited another 20 minutes before going back to the bar to ask where our drinks were. We were told that drinks weren't bought to the table, only food, and we should have waited for them to be poured. Our table was about 2 metres from the bar, and we'd ordered them with food... ANYWAY. The drinks and food eventually came. Mine was okay, but the aforementioned pig roll was cold. I finished, went to the toilet and found that the male cubicle lacked toilet rolls, a toilet seat, or a functioning door lock. Upon leaving I had to pay for the food and drink at the bar, despite already being charged through the app. I've been told to write to head office to claim back the original charge made through the app.

Really enjoyed our visit last night. Good food and fine beer - even better than my previous visits!

As a regular visitor to Norwich due to work, finding somewhere that serves good food at a reasonable price, somewhere with friendly staff and good beer, has been invaluable. The menu is good - fish and chips highly recommended - the service friendly, and the beer excellent. I'll be visiting regularly over the next year.

I had a delicious vegan and gluten free burger with chips and salad. My husband loved his burger and chips too. The member of staff who served us was really knowledgeable about the menu items and that was really helpful in relation to my allergies. We just wanted something quick and simple today, but there was loads more available. It was a lovely place!

Came here at the weekend with my boyfriend and a couple of friends. The place was busy which made it have a good atmosphere. I had the English garden cocktail which I enjoyed. Myself and 2 of my friends had the open chicken kebab. The meat and salad were really yummy, however we all ended up leaving around half the flat bread as it quite hard and difficult to cut. My boyfriend had the brew house pie and couldn’t fault it, he said the pastry was really good. I also had a side of frickles (fried pickles) which were amazing! The staff were attentive and friendly. This place also does student and NHS discount which I thought was quite good! Would recommend ☺️

Three small platters, couple of Morreti's £39 including, excellent, service. Korean style pork belly was the winner btw.

It's a nice place in a good location. The beer selection varies from occasionally excellent to really quite poor some of the time. The only real downside is that there tend to be some very inexperienced bar staff who can get your drinks orders wrong.

my husband and I were struggling to find somewhere for a drink. Popped into brew house and though it was busy, we had a great time! Sally in particular was greatly helpful in recommending beers for my picky husband, a great help indeed. Would certainly recommend!

The bar maid sally was excellent, super attentive to our needs. She was exceptional, whipping pints out like they were mister whippies at the park on a hot summers day. Hands like lightning, pints galor @sally 12/10 - superb.

Food was excellent, and the service was very good for the most part. Only gripe is that one of the staff members seemed slightly disinterested. Decor was nice too. Would definetely return.

We had a delightful roast dinner which was cooked to perfection, with very well balanced flavours. We could not fault it. To add, there was excellent table service from Francis. Making sure we were satisfied and had everything we needed. Definitely a must visit place when in the city! :)

The Wensum Bitter tasted of the Wensum.

Fish (gluten free) and chips plus a pint of house brew ale. Super food and service. The fish and chips were great and the non gluten avoiders amongst us had no idea it was gluten free.

Had tapas small plates. All good, albeit slightly expensive. I recommend 4 plates between 2. Nachos is best value

This place is not so nice when I was waiting for my food the person next to me fell off their chair and all of their food went everywhere and the waiters just stood there and laughed. This place have vote conservative flags all around it. The tacos are quite nice tho

Friendly staff but the pub experience is blighted by very expensive drinks in rough surroundings. My advice, you can do better.

Went there yesterday at 7pm and had such a cold welcome from the waiter at the dining area that we just turned back and went to BrewDog.

Central location for the city but staff numbers were very short on our recent visit often waiting 10 minutes or more to get served. The barman was keen to shut and we left early. Poor.

We came here yesterday as refugees from the Beer Festival across the square. There were six beers on the pumps and we really enjoyed the one we hadn't had previously. Beers have always been well kept when we have been here and the service is fine.

Way too busy and rammed considering current Covid with just filling to the roof with people. Shame as it's such a lovely pub

I'm so impressed with how friendly Norwich bar and cafe staff are. This pub is no exception. Plus a decent list of drinks, a good atmosphere, and less crowded than you might expect.

Slow service despite not being busy. Took over 20mins for drinks to arrive. Food average. Wouldn't go back. Real ales better in local pub.
