Nice pub with good views, toilets were what you would expect of a pub. Cider wasn’t fab but that’s not particularly the fault of the pub

Very quaint pub,felt at ease and staff friendly. Cleaned constantly and atmosphere was friendly. Small but little nooks of interest was interesting to look at some of the pictures and art work. There seems to be some history about this place certainly felt like it.Will visit again.

Considering the Garnet is slap bang in the middle of town overlooking the market it's actually a really nice pub. A gorgeous higgledy-piggledy old building, a few seats outside, a fairly standard selection of drinks, generally friendly bar staff, and they let you order in pizza from brick next door. Not a "destination pub" by any means (unless you are hiring the very cool, oldey-worldey, private room up on the top floor), but a perfect place for a quick city centre pint before dinner.

Scenic location next to the market and city hall. Quirky pub with lots of little nooks and crannies.

A few years ago, I used to love in the flats next to the Garnet and belive me when I say that this place has significantly IMPROVED since then. The management has brought in an absolute stack of upgrades and runs a tight and tidy ship. Families rub shoulders with trendy hipsters and people popping in for a pint. The madly sloped garden hosts a bunch of tables where whole gaggle of friends hang out and vape and enjoy the eclectic music selection flowing dreamily from the outside speakers. This is the oasis of Norwich city. Stop in and refresh yourself!

Good pub and can eat pizza from next door

Not really enough indoor seating for the food. The food is fantastic though, some pop up that serves vegan doner, really tasty.

Pub is a great place to go round for a drink. Does not sell food as such, but everyone is welcome to grab food nearby and bring it in. Occasionally does collaborations with other food businesss!

A good real ale pub in a splendid situation perched next to the market. I have sat outside, which is my preference, but when we came yesterday it was dull and a bit damp, so we took seats inside, overlooking the market square. The beers were good and I can recommend this pub to visitors.

Beautiful pub with bustling atmosphere. Asked for a large bottle of Prosecco and bar staff pointed to a shelf behind us in the bar which held a selection of bottles. Had no idea what they meant and could only see champagne. Chose a bottle of Vino Verde instead. This was just placed on the bar and we had to ask for a wine cooler and then for ice to go in it. However the wine was lovely and a great price. Atmosphere inside and out was great. A real mix of young and old customers.

Terrible attitude. We had been out for a post Christmas works meal and stopped by for a drink after. Standing in the bar area (it was very quiet) and a blonde lady (possibly a manager) was incredibly rude. It was as if they simply didn't want customers there. Terrible attitude.

Decent enough pub for a quiet pint with friends, though the selection of beers and ciders is pretty lacking in my opinion. What really lets The Garnet down is the state of the men's toilets, went downstairs and the one and only cubicle looked like a crime scene and was completely unusable. One of the most disgusting toilets I've been in

A great pub in a nice location, really good Pizza restaurant next door and they allow you to eat them in the pub, beer selection is awesome and they cater for non beer drinkers well. Once outside the bar area the pub has an older layout inside so has lots of nice books where 2 or 3 people can get together. The downstairs bar part is a bit more modern so you can pick and choose your ambience. Looks amazing from the outside on a cold night, almost has a Harry Potter vibe!

Used to be a rough location and has had a very good makeover but the staff are very pretentious and rude.

Beautiful old traditional pub! Very sticky and wobbly tables. Expensive pints. No veggie pies but the meat ones looked good. Not the best most logical seating plan..!

Great little pub, good range of local beers on tap as well as all the usual spirits. Great bar snacks too. Best thing is being able to order brick pizza that's best door to your table in/outside of the pub. An absolute gem in the middle of Norwich.

This pub is lovely, I meet with a political group weekly, and the atmosphere is warm, cosy and inviting. The pub is spread out over multiple levels, all with a unique feel. The drinks are well priced, and the staff are lovely, giving me tissue every week to dry the seat of my motorbike after the inevitable rain! I would recommend this pub to any tourist, or local in the Norwich area.

I joined the Garnet wine club and attended their blind tasting last week. An excellent evening. Very well planned and presented. Also outstanding value for money. The wines were very well chosen and the presenter really knew what he was talking about. I did not eat anything so cannot rate the food.

Well I have experienceed discrimination in that being person Asian on there own sitting listening music quietly is okay of white people drinking and smoking in groups I got Autism all want to to chill I believe that pick on black people on there own it been like that couple of times now

Only had drinks. Had a pint of stout and a can of lager for just over £12, which is eye-wateringly expensive, but a lot of places in Norwich seem to be like this. Nice location just off the market with outdoor seating.

Lovely pub, great location, friendly and efficient staff, ecxellent and well kept ale. We sat at an outside table, bought drinks from the bar and ate food from the market. Had a lovely time - friendly locals, great pub. Hopefully, we’ll be back.

The Garnet is the go-to "shopping pub". When in the centre of town it's always worth popping in for a quick pint. The George Plunkett room has great views over the market at night. They've increased the number of picnic tables so there is usually somewhere to sit. You can bring your own food or the Garnet is home to the Hatake Ramen Club pop-up.

Good old traditional pub. Tasty beer. Good location. Would like to see what it’s like in the daytime or for food perhaps.

Always a great little place. Young, friendly staff...a good selection of beers and wines....and you can bring your food from the market or gave it delivered from Brick pizza next door. In the summer, sit outside or in the garden and take in the atmosphere.. in the winter enjoy the nooks and crannies of the charming pub and watch the world go by.

Good bear selection. Probably one of my favourite pubs in Norwich for an after work pint. Think it's the unusual layout and location that make it different.

Surprising little find on the corner of Norwich market..well kept beer and the food, though not tried, smells and looks really good. Dogs welcome - a good pub all round in the "old" style but freshened up. Good recommend.

Lovely outdoor seating in an excellent location, on the day we came there was live music within earshot which made for an even nicer experience Lovely range of beers and ciders and a pleasant surprise of local foodstuff! The staff were very friendly, the place seems to have been recently redecorated and is very clean and modern Nice!

Terrific changes here. Kind of wine shop/pub. Pizza business by pub at the rear to order and eat sitting outside or upstairs. Excellent thin dough base and tasty fresh toppings. Good cheese and tomato base sauce. Slight feel of a Western cowboy bar but the last of the market pubs lives on with panache and style. Good selection of organic wines and beer. Top drawer.

Nice pub in the city centre with friendly people & good atmosphere

This a great city centre pub right next to the market...if you can get a table outside you can eat your food there while you have a drink too. It gets very busy on a Saturday lunchtime outside when the weather is nice, but that means its quieter inside if you just want to pop in for a drink.

I like this pub but the service is unbearably slow. If there's a queue of more than 2 people then consider walking to a different pub.

Always a great atmosphere the staff are mostly all every welcoming bar 1 or 2 recent visits but over all is my local when I go to Norwich always stop in for a drink.

Great location and fantastic service. Went for the Ramen but the bar staff service and drinks at the Garnet. Always great to sit outside by the market. Great selection of ales beers and lagers and weds and Thurs some of the best Ramen I've ever tasted. Well worth a visit.

I never usually post about an experience at a pub, but l have to say is that this pub should be an imperative part of your trip to Norfolk, the beer is great, the atmosphere is spot on and the customer service is exceptional, especially the strawberry blonde bloke with the glasses. If you come to Norwich and don’t visit this pub, you’re doing it wrong.
