Excellent food, excellent service, nothing was too much trouble, home made food at its best, Lamb souvla to die for as well as fresh fish dishes

The only Greek taverna that’ll I’ll go to in order to eat actually quality Cypriot food in North London. A bit pricey, but they don’t compromise on the quality, so worth it.

Awesome food, love from the Savva’s! Tony and his team walked us through the specials menu, and not only were we better advised on their food origin and method of cooking, it was the scrumptious taste which is why we will be booking our next visit closer to Easter, soon! A fantastic meal experience.

Best Greek street food in Finchley. Fantastic vibes, live music. We had a great evening. Definitely will be back with friends. Highly recommend on Saturday evening with live music. The energy and atmosphere were second to none!

Uncle Tony's Greek restaurant is in the heart of Finchley and walking distance from the tube station. The food is like home made, freshly served, but the service could have been better and the atmosphere is like traditional Greek village style, with Greek music, possibly from London Greek Radio, spacious space but basic decor, tables and chairs, however overall it's certainly recommended.

Met Tony himself on a quiet evening, and had an amazing experience. His passion for what he does is obvious in every dish he served us, and we ate so much we had to be rolled out. He gave us many recommendations and stories about his restaurant, and came away just as impressed with him as his food. Travel across London to come here.

I have been coming a lot during the last 4 years unfortunately since 2021 they've started replacing their products with cheaper quality, making their portions smaller and not caring about the service the provide especially when you dine in. I am giving an over all one star for many reasons but the cherry on top was when they tricked us and brought stuff we didn't order and over charged us £120+. Definitely not going back!

I don't know the area and just happened to park outside. I was hungry and wanted something quick. I got the chicken gyros. Oh my god!!! Amazing! I think that I would make the trip again just for the chips! The staff were lovely and friendly. Food was tasty and fresh.

10/10 experience at Uncle Tony’s! Jack was an absolutely amazing host and was extremely friendly, made conversation with us and checked on us throughout our meal. Other staff are equally as friendly and even met Uncle Tony himself! The food was amazing it felt very authentic! I got so full so it’s definitely worth it! I can say this is an amazing place with an amazing environment and amazing people working there!

Food is very tasty, big menu and lovely specials. I took one star just because it seemed a little high priced and the front of the restaurant is next to the kitchen/takeaway section so some privacy and ambiance is lost.

Had dinner here last night. Great atmosphere, food very good too! Had wonderful Halibut and chicken kebabs. We also ordered calamari starter but never arrived. Also ordered no chips but both had them! Also, 2 large glasses of wine, both small! 3rd glass was large!! All terribly disorganised sadly. Sat there for ages before we received any olives and pita bread. Order wasn’t written down, so that’s why there were so many mistakes, a shame really, cos apart from earning more money from us, we would have enjoyed a starter. So please write down orders, just a bit more attention would do the trick. Lovely lady Chef who asked if the food was ok it was!!

Disgraceful service and an overall unpleasant experience. I’d give zero stars if it were possible. Firstly, when we arrived we were taken to the back area. This place is devoid of any atmosphere and sadly when we were there, it also seemingly doubled as a crèche. It took 25 minutes for our order to be taken. 40 minutes for our drinks to arrive. We had to ask multiple times for drinks / menus etc. it was as if we vanished and they couldn’t see us. We asked for water for the table. This took AN HOUR to arrive. When it did, we had 3 guests but only 1 glass. I asked for 2 more and these took another 10 minutes to appear. When the guy came with the glasses, he stood there without a word and held out the glasses with his fingers INSIDE the glass. He made me put my food down and actually take them from him without saying a word. We felt like we spent more time drowning out kids and chasing waiters to an we did enjoying our time. Everything at this restaurant was severely lacking. The food was alright. Small portion for the price. Unfortunately, dining out isn’t just about the food and everything else was terrible. Go somewhere else.

Greek restaurant in Finchley, London. It is just in front of the tube station and easy to get in. Plenty of space inside and if you walk through it is a terrace with so many tables for clients in a chill out atmosphere. We had live music during our stay. Good service, good portions of the main dishes and a bit small starters. Everything was amazing, home made, very tasty and full of flavour. As we were a big group we had the chance to taste lots of different dishes and we weren't disappointed. It is a very recommendable greek restaurant. They also have take away options and I could see how busy they were.

Excellent Greek food, the pork souvla is a must - melt in the the mouth pork on the bone with cinnamon bulgur wheat. Service is very friendly and Tony is a legend. Chaotic at times but all part of the vibe.

Terrible went there with a group of 10 as a last resort for my sons birthday due to others closed but was told by others it was ok. What a mistake !!First Meze I’ve ever had that only comes with meat. No sides salads chips and usual bits. etc ordered 3 chicken souvla for the girls and 6 fish meze as we were told came with dips and a few sides but still no salads or chips ,the fish consisted of a couple of plates of prawns and calamari The chicken souvla was 9 pieces ( 7 legs and 2 thighs). Yes 7 legs. And no one likes legs!!!Apart from that they definitely warnt cooked on barbecue. Almost looked and tasted like roast and I know what chicken souvla taste like and was also red in the middle. We hardly had any alcohol just water and a small zivania. The place is a rip off in my opinion and looks like they are out to make money and rip people off. The owner was even stood up cleaning the barbecue area whilst we were still there. Cost over £40 a head and the girls hardly had anything to eat or drink You could have had a fantastic meal for that amount elsewhere and it doesn’t compare 1 bit.for a restaurant in a side street it is totally overpriced and I’m convinced the menu is done deliberately to deceive people making the meze seem cheap but you have to get all the extras to make up a proper meze and the cost mounts up. To top everything went to pay the bill which was over £400 with £36 service charge added I was told to my amazement that the card machine was not working and can only take cash. Oh dear! How emabarassing it was for me as I never carry that sort of cash They couldn’t tell me that when I rang to book or even when we got there Now feeling embarrassed I had to wonder the streets at night to find a cash machine I wish now I took the £36 service charge iff but was in such shock that I didn’t think. Never again and believe me I’ve been to more Greek places then you can think off many times. Avoid at all cost Rip off end off!!!!! Don’t normally do reviews but this place deserved one

Had a take out from here the Lamb was awful more fat than meat the chips were nice the chilli sauce was from a bottle and had a terrible taste

5 things on the menu weren’t available on a Saturday when I visited 2 weeks ago and second visit again tonight, several dishes weren’t available. Also for the second time more than £20 of dishes were on the bill that were not received. Make sure to check your bills! Shame as the lady chef is good but management are unprofessional and sadly aren’t capable of running a restaurant on a quiet night never mind on a busy one. Won’t be returning.

The portions are very small and several dishes we asked for were not available . The service extremely slow, they don’t have enough staff to cope with the takeaway and with the customers dining in. Will not be going back! Overpriced.

Decided on a whim to treat myself to Greek food rather than walk past Uncle Tony's Taverna as I often do on the evening commute. I asked for the seabass and had the pleasure of receiving Tony's knowledge on seabass and the difference between wild and farmed seabass. He lovingly presented the whole fish to me, grilled it and his lovely wife prepared it for me, pulling apart the tender white meat and dressing it generously with lemon juice, parsley, olive oil, and salt while talking me through the process. They were busy as always but it was a delight to see the love and pride with which they prepare their food. This was served with Greek salad and warm pitta bread. I went home and enjoyed what was the most delicious, most succulent seabass I have eaten in my life. I don't visit enough and I will certainly return soon. Thank you for this enchanting experience!

I love Greek food! And it didn't disappoint. Tony is epic, love him! With two staff down he was efficient and wonderful. Made me and my mum feel welcome. Will be coming back.

A truly wonderful meze! One of the best I've had anywhere, including in Cyprus and Greece. We had booked, at short notice, for 27 friends and family, to celebrate the life of my father. From the moment we arrived Tony and his staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful, ensuring the event went off without a hitch. I have no hesitation in recommending Uncle Tony's to anyone looking for authentic Greek food, beautifully cooked, in a genuine, family-run restaurant.

Don't mistake this place for any ordinary Greek restaurant or takeaway, because it's definitely not that... it is EXTRAORDINARY. The food is easily the best Greek food I've eaten outside of Cyprus or Greece, and as good as anything I've eaten there. This is really tasty, top notch cooking by a chef who knows what he's doing. I was there in a large party of 27 people for a very important family occasion (a memorial dinner or our beloved dad), and we wanted the afternoon to be perfect for our guests. We ordered the meze, and all I can say is, every single dish was outstandingly good. Perfect subtle blends of flavours, and textures, all cooked to perfection. All the meat was succulent and obviously really fresh. Besides the superb food, they also did everything to ensure our event went without a hitch, and could not have been more helpful. On what was obviously an emotional occasion for all our guests, it was great how friendly and personable the service was. Oh and the extra waiter they laid on at the last minute worked his socks off !

Came here for dinner one night with a friend and was ripped off. Two people, two meze and a drink each came (Coke Zero) to £120!!! For a restraunt on a back road in Finchley is a joke frankly. Food was good but there are plenty of better and cheaper places around to go got a meze and not get ripped off. Won’t be going back and will be letting people know that they are rip off merchants. Don’t bother.

The last time I walked up Station Road from Finchley Central station to the High Road I think there was a Japanese sushi cafe on this site. But that was pre-Covid and many other pubs and restaurants I had frequented had changed hands. In Uncle Tony’s Taverna at once a take away and restaurant one pair of hands was literally doing all the work of both preparing the food serving behind the counter and waiting at table. She kindly offered me a lunch menu from which I chose a pork kebab with chips and salad which also came with a complimentary drink, in my case, some bottled water. Quite a steal at £13.95. I was impressed how the multi-tasker was able to serve me and prepare my lunch as well as make kebabs for two rather demanding gents demanding their food was ready to take away in a mere ten minutes.

We got there randomly and the stay was absolutely pleasant. The host is a chatty and lovely guy. If we are around again we definitely come back.

Dropped in for an early evening dinner. I was happy to go with a lite dinner suggestion from the waiter. Blown away by the food . The chicken and pork was so tender and obviously fresh. The salad too and the hummus was clearly home made , beautiful. The restaurant was clean, warm and had a fantastic The whole team made me feel so welcome and were chatty , funny and made me feel like a regular. To top it off the local Cypriot priest popped in to say hello ! Brilliant. If I lived closer I’d happily bring friends and family in regularly but actually I still might. This place is worth the effort. Thanks Tony and the team.

Went here today with a party of 12. The service and food were excellent. I ordered mix chicken sheftalia and it was so good. Honestly one of the best I've had, including in Cyprus. The sheftalia were seasoned so nicely and had a nice sweet taste (lots of onions?).. we went for my brother's memorial and Tony remembered him as a client, which was very sweet. I hope this place stays here for a long time. All the best to Tony and the staff.

An awful experience ! Meze, dips 30 mins late and another 45 mins passed told that they forgot about the rest of the order.

Food expensive for the quality. The owner is extremely rude, he was talking while eating in the kitchen and had food stuck across us face (very unhygienic). Food took ages to coke when the restaurant was basically empty. The kitchen priorities are with delivery not the people in the restaurant. The only positives were the waitress who apologised for the service multiple time although it was not their fault.

Me and my friend went to have a good gyro. First we ordered a bottle of wine. The waitress came back, the chosen wine is out of stock. Okay we picked an other one. When we placed an order they didn’t have some of the cold mezze. She said everything else available. Took our order then a minute later she came back they don’t have the Maine dish too. So obviously nothing was available from our order. 1. She has the worst customer service I’ve ever seen. 2. Before she starts her shift, she must get informed what’s available from the menu. We wouldn’t even sat down if we knew they don’t have chicken gyro. A good advice, hire professional waitresses

First of all, Tony is one top bloke and hospitality is his middle name. It is so evident that this guy was born for this cause I've never seen anyone laughing and chatting to each person walking in whilst cooking!!! And then without reservation, probably the best Greek tavern we've visited in London so far without exaggeration! And it's no question why people are queuing up for some souvla cause every dish we've had was simply faultless! Everything was finger licking good and hats off to Tony. We will be back over and over for sure. Keep up the good work Tony

I have been here several times and they have never disappointed me. There is friendly staff and a great menu with tasty food. I held my son's 30th surprise birthday here and all the 30 guests loved it. They catered for all our varied tastes...

Delicious food and amazing service! We had the ribs with caramelised potatoes and I have to admit I’ve never had better potatoes in my whole life! We finished the amazing evening with deserts (Portokalopita and Baklava). We got to talk to Uncle Tony and he is incredibly passionate and genuine person that cares about his guests, food, business and employees. It will definitely be my go to place whenever I come back to London! ❤️

I changed my 5 stars review to one star. I have left Uncle Tony's very disappointed last evening. Although we go there regularly and spend (and tip) generously, we have been offered a very poor service and even worse food quality. I have to say Uncle Tony's Taverna has been downhill for some time now and they need to rethink their service and food.

Uncle Tony's Restaurant just does that. feels like a family run restaurant with very nice Greek inspired interiors. Food is absolutely delicious and the portions are enormous. Staff are persistently aware and super on their service. I highly would recommend visiting this restaurant for their Greek food

Average greek food and very overpriced

Worst establishment out there! Good friends of ours invited us to their Little girls christening hosted here and this place really let them down with no remorse. All of us waited over 30 minutes for a drink, dips which are pre prepared took an hour...

Bad service and overpriced for what we where served. I expected better from the taverna. By the time we where served the food was cold👎Go eat there if you have a lot of time to spare but overall I don’t recommend.

Avoid if you have any expectations of a Greek restaurant, a meze, have children, or do not mind the price being made up! The venue was hired for a christening. Upon booking, everything sounded promising, the food the drinks the price was all agreed before hand. The food agreed was Meze, this was NOT a meze! We had a few starters and a small main! This wouldn’t be classed as a meze in a proper Greek restaurant! The service was terrible - not the waiters fault as the owner only had 2 waiters for 50 people! And they was not bringing out the food in order or on time! The owner complained to the mother of the child getting christened about the children being ‘too loud’ - we was in the private room of the restaurant and no other guests were there. Now the FINAL straw! The owner had added an extra £500 onto the agreed price because he had a tax bill to pay! And then he had the audacity to tell our family that they are ‘bad people’ and shouting infront of small children.

Genuinely good tasty food for mains For starters the calamari was sort of average and the prawns were not good value - you only get two. Everything else I’ve had there has been great

Waste of time & money. Came for Valentines day, ordered tzatziki & halloummi for starters and was left waiting over an hour for our main course while the halloummi STARTER came at the end after we finished our mains - bearing in mind it takes 2 minutes to fry 3 thin pieces of halloummi. They also had ran out of quite a few menu items we wanted to try which was a let down.
