Thought we would give this place a go as a change from our usual and it’s fair to say it is the worst Chinese we have ever had. Seems like everything has been microwaved in the tubs and a very strong horrible smell from the noodles which puts you off completely. Thick with greece and inedible. We threw the whole thing away. Do not order from here!! £30 wasted for nothing..

The food is always good. The service is fast. A nice pint of draft while you wait. Salt and pepper chicken and beef curry are my favourites.

We are local and have used this place for take away, because they deliver, for years. Never great but acceptable. Tonight we ordered two Singapore Chow Mien’s, a dish we had ordered many times before. Both were uneatable because of the amount of chilli added. Hotter than a Vindaloo curry. We phoned to let them know and their response was poor. They said that is how they cook it ( it is not, we have had same dish many times) and we should ask for mild if we do not like it. Last time we will use them.

In the area on Holiday Called in for a takeaway placed the order in the Bar and then had a great conversation with the locals while waiting for the food the locals and the Barman were so friendly. and the food was still hot when we got back to our cabin, the food was excellent and a good choice on the Menu, enjoyed so much we then had another takeawy a few days later and again banter at the bar and the food was excellent.

Have used Uncle Chen for nearly 5 years, it's never been 5 star food but used to be pretty good and reasonably priced. That seems to have all changed, our most recent order cost twice as much as a year or two ago and the food was really poor quality. "fried" rice was over boiled and flavourless. Spring rolls and prawn toast were limp and soggy, texture of chicken was really strange, sweet and sour was all sweet, no sour. We had to throw most of it away and won't be ordering from them again. A real shame as we've appreciated having a local takeaway. The fact their last two hygiene inspections have both been 2 stars is a bit of a worry too, once is understandable, but not to have corrected that in the 2 years between inspections is a bad sign.

WARNING BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY Two weeks ago I tried to place an order online. I sent the order and got a message to say there was an error and to try again so I did and the same happened again. I then looked at my online banking to find I had been charge twice. I rang Uncle Chen and the said they hadn’t received the order. Saying they would contact the company who takes the payment and ask them to refund me. That was 2 weeks ago and still no refund.

Had a takeaway and it was nice. BUT ever since (a couple of months) I have received text messages every other day from them. I have blocked dozens of numbers and emailed asking them to stop. But they keep on coming. It's really annoying

Bloody horrible. Noodles tasted like something out of a packet, but had a horrible taste to them. beef was chewy, chips ok but soggy. Never again.

I ordered from uncle chen tonight. I used to order from them alot as they delivered. The Curry was bland and not extra hot as I asked and the salt and pepper ribs were drier than gandi's flip flop. They were over £8 quid and I have jaw ache from trying to eat them. I've threw the lot in the bin. ....id rather collect myself from a Chinese that is decent. They only have 2 stars out of 5 on the hygiene score which also isn't great. Ta ra uncle chen.

13+ years iv used Uncle Chen, best value chinese takeaway in the Tewkesbury area. That being said delivery has slipped to much over the past couple months and food quality with it. Unfortunate to say the least. Disappointed at best. Knock when things get better but until then I will use a different source.

Weird food destined for the bin the moment it left the container. Is this a real food service or some strange creative watery-sauced idea funded by the arts council? I’m not sure but either way we won’t be ordering again.

The service was amazing.....it was my first time ordering and they looked after my order well. The food arrived well within the given time. I had Duck Curry, King Prawn Satay and Egg Fried Rice. The curry sauce was perfect. It wasn't too strong to take away the taste of the duck which made the dish delicious. The addition of pineapple to the Satay dish gave it an amazing sweetness and I loved that too. I will definitely be ordering from here again 10/10 from me 👏 👏 👏

I'm afraid the food quality here has dropped shockingly eaten here a few times, slowly getting worse untill last order would be my final order. Food was cleary re heated, I called and complained and explained this would be my last ever order

We have just moved to the area and wanted to find an awesome Chinese Takeaway and Uncle Chen's did not disappoint. Great food, really tasty and was piping hot when it arrived. We ordered on a Thursday and it was delivered super quick within 20 mins of the order.

We ordered our delivered meals as a special treat - my wife had a prawn dish and I duck. Both dishes were swimming in a very loose sauce, my wife's prawns she said were tasteless, my duck were just great gobbets, greasy and tough. Both of us gave up after just a few mouthfuls - very disappointing! I can do better myself A total waste of money

Waited over 90 mins for delivery to be very disappointed with the quality of the food.

Just ordered a takeaway for myself and my son and I ended up throwing most of it away. The chicken chow mein was greasy, no flavour and the chicken looked questionable. It was just pure slime, it looked disgusting and I've never seen anything look so unappetising. Egg friend rice was fine, but then how can anyone balls up that? The salt and pepper chicken was that hot and spicy I gave up after 2 pieces. Considering they also have the cheek to put a service charge and charge for delivery (a lot of other takeaways in the area are free delivery within a certain mile radius FYI) when the food is poor is almost hilarious. I used this Chinese a few years back and it was alright then so god knows what's happened since, I certainly won't order from here again - I might as well of just thrown the money in the bin.

I would love to give good feedback as this is our first order, but unfortunately we were so disappointed. The half duck was delicious, as was the Sweet and Sour Chicken Hong Kong Style, however the container was only half full of this dish, so not enough to share. The Beef Green Pepper Black Bean Sauce was nice, but far too many water chestnuts and bamboo shoots. The Chicken with Cashew Nuts had not a lot of chicken, a huge amount of cashew nuts and far too many water chestnuts and bamboo shoots. The Roast Pork Chop Suey, again was just full of water chestnuts and bamboo shoots with not a lot of pork. We ordered a variety of dishes so we could mix and match on our plates, but we just feel so disappointed as each dish was so overloaded with water chestnuts and bamboo shoots we felt that was all we ate. Sorry to say we it is unlikely that we will order again even though you have great reviews.

Qué montón de basura entregada. El repartidor del costo 27 no tuvo cambios, por lo que recibió 40. ¿Qué basura conseguí? A eso lo llaman buen servicio (en estos tiempos horribles). Yo diría que es sacarle la mierda al público en general que ahora depende de la entrega de comida decente. Soy cliente desde hace algunos años y solo una vez antes de diciembre de 2019 recibí tal carga de basura.

I know this is the only Chinese takeaway open in Tewkesbury at the moment, because of the lockdown due to the corona virus, but please avoid this place we just had a delivery, and it was terrible!! Dehydrated reheated rubbish probably leftover from yesterday. Avoid!!

Had a takeaway last night, it was awful. Food was sloppy, bland and tasteless. The Thai green curry was just wet chicken pieces in a watery sauce that didn’t taste of anything. We Won’t be going back, really disappointed.

Tried this restaurant while staying at the Hilton. Chips were ok, the fried rice was either packed too tight into the tub or over boiled before frying as was stuck together. The chicken curry was quite nice but unfortunately had no kick so if you like spicy then order it extra extra hot. Mini Spring rolls were almost perfect. (The above is just based on my personal preference/opinion) All that is enough to feed about 2 to 3 adults for as little of £10. This place is a little unusual to visit as is set in the local drinking well (a kind of run down cottage pub) Where the décor is well over due. May be seat around 10 people in uncle Chen's and maybe around 16 at the bar. Only a few minutes drive from the Hilton or about 10 minutes walk They do take card payment on site

Unassuming place that serves excellent beer and really good Chinese food.

Desde que me mudé al área y descubrí esta joya escondida, hemos tenido una buena cantidad de comidas de este establecimiento, donde inicialmente hice el pedido por teléfono, pero ahora en línea y lo recogí en el momento que más me convenía. La comida hasta la fecha ha sido muy buena. No tengo ninguna queja. Los tamaños de las porciones son excelentes y los precios son muy razonables. Aprecio que los gustos varían de persona a persona, pero recomendaría este chino a cualquiera y creo que estarían de acuerdo de todo corazón en que esta crítica es acertada. Ofrecen un servicio de entrega a aquellos que lo prefieran, pero en las horas punta puede esperar más de las veces citadas. definitivamente vale la pena considerar si te mudas o visitas el área de Ripple Tewkesbury. Al estar situado en la cocina de un pub local, tienes lo mejor de ambos mundos. DISFRUTAR.

Banging food, fast delivery, great customer service took the extra delivery charge off our order

Family get together, wanted to order for a certain time so rang speaking to a very nice young lady who took my order. It was delivered on time by two very nice ladies. I always try to give feedback as I feel the proprietors need it and deserve it. No good just stopping using a business is it. I had ordered starters and quite a number of main dishes. No problems with the main dishes BUT the starters were not good, the satay was tough and dry, the ribs thin dry and yes tough. Such a disappointment as I love a juicy rib. Spring rolls small and dry and the prawn toasts well they were acceptable. Just a pity yes I appreciate it was a large order but it also cost a fair amount. As I said this is not a complaint but it is something you need to note and know

Been using uncle Chens for years even when they were in Bredon. Never had a bad take away. Always hot when it arrives .

Last time we ordered for takeaway from here it was excellent. Tonight it hardly tasted like Chinese food...... just like rice and chicken in stock. Wonder if the chef has changed. Was not good

Bueno en partes pero no del todo bueno en general. ¡La comida era insípida hasta el punto en que pensamos que nuestras papilas gustativas habían desaparecido! ? El chow mein fue lo peor que habíamos comprado, viscoso y con un sabor muy extraño. Se hizo con fideos más grandes y casi no tenía brotes de cebolla o frijoles, solo una masa de babosa y extraña fragancia con olor. Teníamos un plato de carne y la carne era de buena calidad, pero, de nuevo, el plato en sí era insípido y no tenía el ponche chino que todos podemos esperar de este tipo de comida.

Used the takeaway service many times when visited friends in Tewkesbury. Always advise del time and usually spot on. Not expensive at all and wide choice menu.

The peking spare ribs were really chewy. The Singapore chow mein was so salty and hot hot with chilli it was acutely not edable.

Had a take away on news year day. It Was very good, that includes the food and service. Best in area. Flavours are superb

Love this Chinese, I always use it as an alternative to my usual one. Never had incorrect food here. A few others say they’ve gone down hill, but to me they’re great. Never actually had a wrong order, and they’re reasonably well priced with a wide variety on the menu. I normally ask for dishes to be changed, and they’ve never had a problem.

Rubbish... the bill was twice as much as we expected it to be and when we challenged it we we're met with a gang of bully boy's so we paid and left. Very frightening experience...

First time of trying and the last, Food was ready to pick up within 10mins of ordering it, it was like the day after stir fry warmed up, neither of us ate it, the rice was suppose to have been egg fried rice but needed the eye glass to find one bit of egg in mine, prawn crackers weren’t bad though, hence the 2 Stars !!!!!

This is an average take away Chinese restaurant. They do deliveries and are honest about the time it takes. When you're hungry it fills a hole.

I read reviews now, but I have visited twice once as a couple and another with family.

Normally order from Northway Chinese takeaway or the Lotus in Tewkesbury but it was a Tuesday evening and sadly both business were closed.I came across a menu from Uncle Chen and was relieved they were open and deliver on this particular night.I offered Egg fried rice,special chow mein and sweet and sour chicken balls...Never again in a million years would I eat from this establishment again, it was that bad I put the whole order in my bin... the chow mein was dark in colour with no veg and only one prawn to be found,the rice was dry and no egg and the chicken balls were so dry I felt they had been reheated.... Cost me over £14 for complete rubbish that I wouldn't serve to my Dog....Leason learnt and ended up cooking a omelette for my dinner !

Had it couple tome now. Always been please with the food. Delivered very fast and will deliver to surrounding villages. Very happy.

You get what you pay for sums up this restaurants. My Thai chicken had a sauce with flavour but chicken lacking in taste. My wife's crispy chicken was OK. Handy with parking and cheap but food very ordinary to poor.

Small takeaway and Resturant in a pub. We have had two takeaways in the past few weeks and both were great, large portions and so tasty. Service is quick and prices are so good, great value for money. They do deliver aswell. Takeaway is connected to the crown pub but seperate business. Takeaway was given to us ny recommendation and I'm so glad it was, I can highly recommend this Chinese.

I would recommend this for anyone for the future; their service for delivery was fast; their delivery driver was very pleasant and their food was great.

Beautiful food. And the most amazing service I have ever received. - We ordered two cans of coke, and it never arrived with the meal, didn't bother phoning as I'm sure we could cope. It's absolutely hammering it down outside tonight, and 30 minutes later there is a knock at the door and a lovely bloke is stood with two cans of coke. We aren't that close to the restaurant either. I never review anything, but the standard of food and service really deserves all the praise I can give. Best Chinese food in Tewkesbury. Thank you Uncle Chen.
