Lotus in Tewkesbury

I had to wait for two hours for my food, when I complained I was told I’d get some free drinks. I wasn’t happy with this but accepted it. I then didn’t receive the drink I paid for or the free ones. When I complained again, I listened to them shouting in the background for ten minutes then got hung up on. Terrible customer service.

Had take away meal. Nice food but getting a little pricey now. Very clean but service a little abrupt.

Went in for a take away after a hard day on the water teaching and paddling, first hot food of the day paid waited 40 mins then got back to the campsite to find one of our mains missing ! Not happy !!

!!!!!!!!Awful customer service!!!!!!!! Suzanna, who works at Lotus is incredibly rude, unprofessional and ruins the companies customer service. Despite the food being great, the customer service from Suzanna takes over this. Suzanna answers the phone. Suzanna was rude over the phone with a belittling and sarcastic tone.

Pre-ordered food for 5:15, rang up as not delivered at 5:40, Suzanna answered and said it left 20 minutes prior to me calling. (I live 10 minutes away) 6pm still no food so I called again, suzanna answered, the rudest person I’ve ever dealt with. I just asked if she could give the driver a call or do something as I ordered it as a pre-order for a specific time and it’s been in transit for over 45 minutes. She replied, there’s nothing I can do, then went silent, ignored me, then said what do you want me to do about it in the rudest tone. I’m a frequent customer and I won’t be anymore, horrible woman, terrible customer service!

Delivery order. 1hr 50 min for delivery and we live less than .5 of a mile from them. If they'd told me a wait time I would of collected. I called after an hour to be told it was on next delivery, called back 20 min later as still not arrived to be told it was just being cooked! 15 mins later called again as still waiting, told it was out for delivery. Yes food was hot but you could tell it had been either kept warm or quickly shoved back in the pan. Rice- clumpy, foo young more like scrambled egg! If I hadn't paid when I ordered I would of refused it at the door. Ordered at 19.30 arrived at 21.20!

Ordered a delivery for the second time in a few weeks and the first one was an hour late this one is nearly two, not acceptable, just tell customers the truth instead of taking their money and delivering hours late. Food is also average, so not worth the wait. Now switching to northway, better food and more reliable.

Took out a take away , and was really surprised there is usually one course that's my least favourite but I enjoyed all ,4 we had salt and pepper ribs, dim sum dumplings, special fried rice and a house special curry, all was great and really tasty , plenty in portions and fed 2 people, great stuff lotus Tewkesbury thanks will call again if in area.

Been ordering from here for a few years now but the last few months have been shocking. The food is either burnt, claggy or both which when you spend between £20-£40 for either one or two people is unacceptable. To top it off on my last order the prawn crackers were so stale I could bend one in half without it breaking. Time to spend my money elsewhere

Had takeaway. Meal for one plus portion of mushrooms. Meal generally very average but beef with broccoli inedible as beef so tough.

Had take away meal for one. Beef was inedible and rest of food was below par. All in all complete waste of money. Very disappointed.

Absolutely disgusted to receive a large order on Tuesday over 45mins late. Food was cold and gloggy and completely inedible. I had called the take away to chase the order after waiting a hour and over the delivery time given, I was told it was on its way when it clearly wasn’t. I replied to a text message I was sent, and also a email address I found online as well as calling several times before speaking to someone this evening to be told. They don’t have a email address, they do not do refunds and they would give me a 20% credit for a future order. This is not good enough when the order itself was near £60. I have been a customer for years and this obviously means nothing. I have had small issues before which I have let go but after speaking to a young girl and the manager not even bothering to take the call I would seriously advise against. I paid a premium for delivery also. Absolutely foul food and service!! Choose a different takeaway by all accounts.

Ordered takeaway to be delivered to a carpark as we're visiting area in a motorhome. Arrived on time and couldn't be faulted. Everything hot tasty plentyful and cooked well. Most enjoyable. Would definitely recommend this place and will use again if in the area.

I didnt want to give any stars. Ordered a £64 delivery. Driver took 40 minutes to find us even though the post code sends you right to us. They told us they would give a full refund. For the food to turn up freezing and sweating, then to be told they was collecting the food for the refund. Never known a company or buisness to run how they have waiting over 2 hours for food for it to be freezing. Unless you want food poisoning dont order from here

Very nice food and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and helpful. There's steps into it so not the best for disabled access and no parking, but there is delivery service.

Been Ordering from this place for over a year now and I always loved it. However, this is now the 4th time in a row I’ve received a bad order. There is always something in the order that is burnt / bad quality and when I call up to request new items I’m then told I have to pay for it to be delivered or collect it which is ridiculous when the food isn’t as it should be. Even after this, I agreed to pay the delivery charge and they didn’t even deliver the item. Shocking customer service

Went there last night, service was amazing, lovely gentlemen at the till, lovely staff, food was amazing, would highly recommend this place if you want a tasty Chinese meal, very impressed with everything

Delivery took over 2 hours from when the order was placed, avoid at all costs. I was offered only a 10% discount on my next order which I won't be using. Not impressed at all!

Had a collection last night. Fried rice a bit burnt, could smell it when I opened the box. Had a jet lagged and couldn’t be bother to phone for a new one. Chicken balls and beef black bean were great.

1st time I've been there, only got takeaway. The customer service was A1, they were very polite & the foot was good too.

Waited four hours then told (after two calls to find out where our food was) the driver had broken down ! Personally I don’t think you had any intention to deliver our order. Won’t be making that mistake again. Avoid at all costs.

Waited over 2 1/2 hours for delivery. Ended up ringing to find out where our food was only to be told it hadn’t even left the restaurant. No apology, simply told that they were busy. Won’t be risking it again after this experience, when you order at 5.30pm you certainly don’t expect to wait until gone 8pm to eat especially when you’re told you order will arrive at 7 !. Usually patient but as we have someone who has to eat by a certain time you just can’t risk being let down again. Will go elsewhere in future who may appreciate our business.

Unfortunately they have let us down a few too many times. We ordered food for delivery and were informed the food would take 45-50 mins to be delivered. I'm writing this review whilst still waiting. Its been 1hr40 since placing the order and after chasing the restaurant, nothing ha syet happened. Apparently the driver is "on his way". I think he might be lost as its a 10 min drive away.... Update. Driver was very nice.

Outstanding Chinese. I travel 15 miles for the food that’s how good it is . Friendly staff , Shop always clean . Food always fresh and consistent. The Special dishes are delicious. Fairly priced food .

Placed a large order Saturday night for collection was told 45 minutes waited a few extra minutes on arrival but we can say if we had waited an extra half hour it wouldn't have mattered because the food was exceptional this place is now our regular Saturday night takeaway without a dought by far the best Chinese food we have had for many years

Ordered on Friday night online, was told it would arrive in an hour, I waited an hour and a half before phoning asking where my order was, which they then replied it would be with me in around 20mins, 40mins later I’m calling again to them saying it should be with me soon and the drivers just left, I waited over 2:30hrs in total. Then my order arrived wrong! It was only one item but I phoned saying how bad this was and they offered me a refund for just the one item, I asked for a full refund just because of how ridiculous the whole situation was and it was now 10:30pm and I was fed up. They refused and explained they had difficulty’s with staffing, however this shouldn’t of happened if you don’t have the capacity then you shouldn’t be taking orders or offering delivery. I asked for them to just give me the right food (took another 40 mins!) instead of a very small refund of £7.50.

4th time ordering from The Lotus and would highly recommend, food always piping hot and very tasty, delivered on time even when pre ordered, can't fault the food or service.

Heard that the business had expanded from takeaway to include a restaurant so decided to give it a try. Hopefully the word will get round in due course as the food is excellent. Light, airy dining room and all facilities spotlessly clean. It isn’t a large restaurant but was quiet - I suspect because it is slightly off the beaten track away from the High Street. We will definitely be back again very soon. We ordered a selection of starters and mains. All dishes were generous, freshly cooked, beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The bill was very reasonable and the service was prompt and friendly,. Nice people. Altogether a very enjoyable evening meal.

Had a fabulous vegetarian meal for two. Freshly cooked and excellent selection of delicious dishes. The restaurant area would benefit from dimmer lighting and maybe a little decoration to give it more atmosphere.

Honestly couldn’t fault a single thing. Just wish we lived closer!

The food is amazing, however, if you want a delivery, order it for at least 45 mins before you want to eat. Always at least 30 minutes late everytime we order. Waiting for one now and it's 45 minutes late. 😒

7 of us had lunch today. Everyone was very happy with their dishes, delicious. Plenty prawns in my dish. Free drink for Chinese New Year. Very friendly, good service.

Had a fabulous meal in the new restaurant. We chose the banquet meal for 2 which was delicious. The food was quality, great portions. The staff were very attentive, friendly, helpful and made the night.

we always enjoyed the takeaway from here, had the odd bad meal and they've have delivered to us. Well we were told it would be with us around 1 hours time. Time came and no order so waited an extra 30 minutes and then rang them to see where it was and it hasn't even been cooked and not coming as due us because we were the only one in this direction. we are regular loyal customers and to be treated in this way isn't fair. you could of just rang us, our number is stored as we are always welcomed by our name just to say we can't deliver and we would of picked it up. unfortunately you have lost a customer now and we won't be recommending you.

First time of trying the Lotus and unfortunately not overly impressive. Food was reasonable but order was missing two items, pretty annoying as they checked it twice before handing over!

So let's talk about Lotus. Unassuming, a bit of out of town, but wow this place serves the best Chinese food. The service is excellent and attentive, the food is fresh as can be. I love Singapore Chow Mein and this place makes the best. Reasonable prices too.

Placed an order of around £40 this evening. After being 40 minutes after the stated delivery time we called to see where our order was The woman on the phone was very rude and said 'you will just have to wait the driver isn't even here yet'. 30 minutes later still no order, called again and was told the same very rudely. Sent my husband to collect the order in the end and there was no apology, just abruptness. Food was okay, nothing to outstanding. Service absolutely dreadful. Avoid at all costs.

Food is nice enough but our orders are consistently wrong with items missing. Lotus have never once apologised when contacted about this. They literally couldn’t care less.

Very good. Tastes better than most other take away places in tewkesbury and it is cheaper to. Moderately quick service. The kid on the counter clearly didnt want to be there haha but i cant blame him really. 😂😂😂 Been putting off going here as i always thought it looked a little rough around the edges from the outside but i was pleasantly surprised. I placed an order for delivery, around £45, for a family takeaway. It was a Saturday night so I didn't expect it to arrive quickly. 1 hour 30 minutes and no food. I call for an update and I'm told my order is just about to leave. 25 minutes later no food. So I call for a second update. Driver has left, he is on his way, but he does have quite a few other orders to deliver. 30 minutes later, no food. I call and ask them to call the driver. The driver has mistakenly delivered my order to another house. They'll send a replacement out straight away. I take a deep calming breath and reply that I'll drive and pick my order up from the shop...I only live a 6 minute drive away. 6 minutes later I've collected my order. Odd how my order doesn't arrive for over 2 hours and 30 minutes but can be reproduced within the space of 6 minutes. I politely reminded the lady behind the counter to refund my delivery fee. Food was OK...service dreadful...maybe choose Indian.

I and friends have used this takeaway a couple of times recently, and on both occasions been impressed with the food and service.

Wow!!!!!! We've waited almost 6 months for this and Boy was it worth the wait. Chicken satay skewers AMAZING. Roast pork in black bean sauce to die for... Other half had BBQ Ribs Fantastic as was his Duck curry. Welcome back Lotus. We've really missed you. April 7th 2021 I couldn't wish for a better birthday meal Totally Amazing 😋 Thank you so much Lotus. You've done it again Lotus. Amazing meal!! A tiny mix up with the sauces. However, gorgeous satay sauce delivered to our door within 5 minutes 😀 who could ask for better service?

Had read a few negative reviews on here and I was a bit wary of ordering but luckily I gave them a go and I was more than happy with the food and service. Delivery was quick and turned up on around 40 mins which is pretty good considering I ordered at peak food ordering time on a Saturday. Food was also piping hot which is always a bonus. Really enjoyed the meal as well and will definitely be ordering again.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE!! Waited over a hour and a half for first delivery (being literally round the corner too) but the rude delivery driver expected a single woman to walk down a dark alley late at night to meet them (even though we paid for delivery)!!! Called lotus to complain, very rude staff, when it does finally arrive, it's the wrong food.. called again, heard them shouting at one another in Chinese (how unprofessional) and again, had to wait for the food which things were still wrong.. In total had to wait 2hrs 15mins for the food to get here. Food wasn't great either. If you're looking for a top quality Chinese in Tewkesbury, call 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐖𝐨𝐤 based in Northway, they're out of this world!, friendly, effecient and I wish we did to begin with!!!

Worst Chinese take away I've ever tasted. Didn't want anything special at the time so just chose the House Special Rice. What a mistake. The chicken was boiled with the fatty pale/white skin left on. To say the taste was greasy was an understatement. It was truely awful. In general it was tasteless. It was supposed to have Oyster sauce but it seemed to some watery coloured substance over it. The interior of the take away resembles a worksite and the guy who served me wore a stained t-shirt with worn holes in it. It wasn't a trendy shirt, it needed binning. Never again.

Ordered sweet and sour prawn balls but with curry sauce not s/s chicken fried rice and spring rolls batter on prawn balls was so thick with prawn barely visible no curry sauce s/s instead spring roll burnt worse meal from there ever

Ordered food at 1720 still sat waiting at 1925 and been trying to call them for the last 15 mins phone constantly engaged, really not happy. Have no idea if my food is even going to turn up.

I LOVE THIS PLACE.... again delivered super fast, hot, fresh and has to be hands down the BEST chinese takeaway I have ever had in the UK in 23 years. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I love that I can rely on you to consistently deliver the best quality any time. It's taken me literally 23 years to find a Chinese restaurant I can rely on regularly, so done without Chinese for many many years. Now I'm addicted again. Reminds me of home. Thank you !! Ordered a little of everything starter wise like mixed platter for 2, deep fried won tons, crispy prawn dumpings and prawn crackers. It was delivered hot, fresh and early by friendly driver.
