Booked for my birthday, and was really looking forward to it. The server didn't know what the "pie of the moment" was, so had to go and ask. Ordered food and drinks.. 10 minutes later I was told my food choice wasn't available and what would I like instead. So I had to ask for the menu again. Still no drinks, so asked for them again. The table next to us arrived 10 minutes after us, and were served their drinks. We just gave up, went across the road and ordered from the Raven chinese. A fraction of the price, enough food for 3 meals, and ready in 15 minutes. Tasted amazing! We were going back to Uncle Bob's tomorrow for a carvery. We won't be bothering now.

6 of us went for a birthday meal and we definitely weren't disappointed...the food was outstanding...everything was cooked to perfection...well presented and really tasty...the staff were very helpful .polite and attentive....thank you for a great evening and we'll be calling again soon 😊

Sunday lunch was one of the nicest dinners I’ve had for a long time I eat out every Sunday with family or friends and have tried quite a few different venues around S.Wales

Disappointing. Had booked a table for 5. Was squeezed onto a table for 4. Not good first impression. Menu First choice not available although table who arrived after us were given that choice. Maybe they had pre-ordered but... Chips looked beautiful but dry. Vegetarian lasagne was 10 layers of pasta with very little filling, garlic bread was rock hard. Hunters chicken was dry. Shame. Burger was dry. I don't think the chef at this place is very experienced. I had a look at the kitchen. A member of staff had blue died hair (long but no net) 🤔. Waitress removed all plates, all plates all half full, never questioned why. Again 🤔 I paid, again never asked for feedback. Won't be going again. Sad as I want to support local business. £93 for 4 mains, 2 starters and 4 soft drinks. 2 out of 10. Customer service was poor, menu/food mediocre, environment nice surroundings but poor service. A massive shame.

We had a brilliant meal. You need to go there feeling hungry to do full justice too the amount of food presented. A really big meal of excellent quality. The staff were very helpful and offered good service.

Front of house management seems to have changed and it isn't a positive change unfortunately. It no longer feels warm and welcoming and they really don't seem to be bothered about whether they have customers or not. Kitchen was open (saturday afternoon) but not able to serve a table at 3.30 for simple bar meals, despite restaurant being empty, because they had bookings at 5.30. Apparently you can't visit in December unless you have a booking or are a party. After a very average visit last time, this was their chance to redeem themselves but sadly it was not to be. Highly unlikely I'll bother again

This was another awesome meal yet again, never had a bad meal yet. My wife had the ribs and I had the beef madrass curry, really nice and plenty of it. Staff were again very pleasant, highly recommend this place.

Went with several friends. Offered drinks. We had pre booked meals a few days before as a party of us. I ordered the Thai chicken green curry and we all had a varied selection. My curry was delicious, creamy and lots of chicken. Half and half rice and chips was available if wanted. Naan bread had garlic butter on, which I thought unusual but tasted lovely. My poppadom was missing so when I asked, I was told "there are none left" As it was listed on the menu as part of the meal and there was a few days to have food in that was not good. I wasn't offered an alternative , told in advance or offered a small discount. No one asked how our meals were during the evening. It was really draughty in there and one of our party put her coat back on. One friend ordered the veg risotto which arrived in a moulded shape surrounded by green leaves and sprinkled with balsamic vinegar, which looked pretty but for the price poor value as basically only rice and vegetables. Perhaps teething problems as hasn't been open as uncle Bob's that long so may call in again, maybe not.

This was my second visit to Uncle Bob's Smokehouse at the Raven, and the visit was totally different to the 1st one (which was disappointing). The service was excellent. All three starters were delicious (soup, potatoes with chorizo and garlic mushrooms) all so very tasty. 6 mains comprised of 4 BBQ ribs, Fish & Chips and Hunters chicken all cooked to perfection. Thank you for a lovely evening and excellent food ❣️

Website says…… Opening Hours We are open at The Raven 6 days a week, Tuesday to Sunday 12.00pm - 8.30pm (Last service 8.30pm) We turned up Tuesday at 5pm (along with 2 other cars) and it was closed. Your loss.

Not been to Uncle Bobs at the Raven but did go to the one in Brynaman before they changed to only Sunday. We went as a family, the place was empty apart from staff when we arrived. Once shown to our seat we were asked would we like a drink, then around 20 or more asked for our food order. The food arrived, well presented. I had a burger & my husband the meat platter. My burger was yummy! The only down side was the dry beef put on the top, didn’t really need that but as my husband had the platter I dipped my the dry beef in the gravy, which sorted that. My husband enjoyed his platter but it looked like some of the platter were left overs from Sunday lunch rather than being genuine brisket, the ham looked like Sunday left overs as well, the meatballs dry. Apart from that it wasn’t bad, I wouldn’t rush back.

The food was okay but omg the service was slow. It took so long for food to come and when we finished food it had been 25 minutes and they still hadn't cleared our plates so we just paid and left without spending more money and ordering dessert. The food was okay, burger I had was dry. Kids didn't really enjoy their chips but the corn on the cob went down a treat. If you're not in a rush and like basic food then this is the place to go. But their staff need waking up a bit, they just stood behind the bar whilst plates needed clearing and orders taking. Doesn't look like they are set up for a busy night because the staff left one girl running around doing everything and she looked half awake. Won't be returning. Sorry, I wish this wasn't the case as it's so close.

I’m absolutely devastated at what food me and my wife had been given at bobs diner. Previously went when it was just called the raven and had beautiful food and service. This atrocious equivalent to road kill was nothing more than piss poor. The nachos felt like they were cut out of cardboard, had about as much salsa on them as we did snow this summer. The sauce for the pulled pork tasted like it had just come out of a crematorium. It made us feel so sick after eating a few mouthfuls it wrecked our evening. The main course was no better, same burnt sauce poured over the chicken and the curry I’d been served looked like it had come from somebody’s arse that’s sitting on the toilet begging for a lump! I will not be going there again, I can assure you that! Should have kept it like it used to be!

I had the Ribs whilst my family had the chicken and 10oz Steak and we whole heartedly enjoyed every mouthful !!! The service was a little slow to start but the staff were extremely helpful and honest and once the started came everything flowed swiftly. Definetly coming here again, keep up the good work guys 💪🏼

We were looking for somewhere to eat so decided to try out Uncle Bobs who had recently opened at The Raven pub in Garnant. Previous: I've been to The Raven before when it had previous owners so know the location well. Parking: Plenty of parking. Booking: We walked in - so no booking was needed. However I can see it getting busy on a Friday and Saturay. I have no idea about the Sunday Carvery. Food Menu: The food menu had plenty of choice. Mostly burgers and fries and smoked food. Seemed okay. Our order: Two of us (Wife and me) decided on a two person meat platter. I think it was around £26.00. It came with several dishes - sort of like tapas but portion sizes were good. Also had sweet potato fries and salad/coleslaw and bbq beans. We also had a two pints of Coors and a Cider. (See pictures). Opinion: Food was very tasty. Very enjoyable. However it was very dark (colour wise) due to the sauce on the meats. The sauce was almost black. Not the most appetising of colours to be honest. We tried not to let that bother us. Staff: Very friendly. Service was very good. Price: Happy to pay that price. It's what we would pay at any other mainstream place like Harvester or Brewers Fayre. Atmosphere: Nice place. Plenty of people eating quitely, talking away. Some guys outside in the beer garden having a beer and a laugh but this didn't affect the atmosphere inside. I didn't see any children eating. Mostly couples. Would I go again: Definately. Not sure I would order the same meal. Maybe the chicken platter next time (or a burger).
