Umai Mi Bento Box in North Tyneside

First visit here at lunchtime and thought I'd give it a try. Very rude and unhelpful staff. Cold restaurant and food not that nice. Very disappointed. I'll return to @Eat for my usual lunch as they have really friendly staff.

Perfect food and delivery device

Although claims to be halal, "halal" food made in the same oil as pork, so any "halal" items are not halal. Go ahead if you don't have any dietary restrictions but just ask the right questions if you do.

Finally decided to have some lunch here. There is a decent enough selection of food. I was recommended the beef as an option. I got this with noodles, dumplings as the side dish and sweet BBQ sauce for toppers. It was tasty and a good size portion, it was definitively enough. The beef was chewy though. If your passing by its a decent enough place to pick up lunch.

Chinese food was horrible, worst ever tasted, we did get a takeaway on a random Thursday but I would hope the quality is consistent. But the sushi rolls are really good and I’d imagine the poke bowls would be too

It should not say chips..only 4 chips in total and stale.

Really nice food , the curry was a little bit thicker than would like but my kids didn’t make one complaint about the whole meal which is a first ! Ha

Called for a takeaway. Decent food for a decent price.

Not well after eating bento. I did not order the extra side of gravy if you know what i mean. Feel really ill. I used to see this as treat but never again.

We had the all you can eat buffet for 14.99. It was ok. If you enjoy food from here then you will enjoy the buffet.

Staff unbelievably attentive, filling water glasses before they were empty, food delicious and whole restaurant very clean. Would absolutely recommend and will be going again!!! :)

Had the hot bento box, really tasty. Nice chilled atmosphere and lovely staff.

We went towards the end of the lunch service so there wasn't a huge amount ready/available, so we had to wait for small items (dumplings) and rice to be cooked. However, I really enjoyed the bento box (noodles, rice, crispy shredded beef, dumplings and BBQ sauce). I would definitely go again for lunch, I would just arrive a bit sooner than I did!

Would be 0 stars if I could. If you like flavourless stale food swimming in grease and off curs of meat, then order from here!

Ordered the make your own Bento box... The beef chow mein was the worst I've ever tried, and after one mouthful I couldn't eat any more and had to chuck it away. The char siu fried rice was absolutely full of oil and was sitting in approximately 2cm of oil in the foil tin it arrived in and was similarly disgusting and after a few mouthfuls I had to dispose of it. Thankfully the starter items were okay so I at least could eat something that I'd paid for, but it was by far the worst takeaway experience I've had in recent memory. Would not recommend unless you like your food swimming in fat. Plenty of better options for Chinese in Newcastle above this, don't waste your money here

My meal was awful. The chicken pieces were inedible. Chewy and hard. I won't be using this place again.

Worst chinese I've ever had. Everthing was Soggy, crispy beef was wet through. Floppy chips like mash. vegi chow mien was just dry Noodles with a bit onion. Spare ribs was just a grisly knuckle of fat! Will never ever order from here again. Do not waste your hard earned money on this joke of a restaurant.

Won't be ordering again, not sure if it's been taken over but the food was below standard for the increased price. The chicken curry came with no sauce and hardly any chicken, the chow mein was just plain egg Noodles and it was all cold. Very disappointed

This restaurant has the worst customer service, the manager is a joke and we always have problem with this store. They can't apologize for their mistakes and don't care for costumers.Also, the manager say doesn’t matter for my complain

Food overcooked not seasoned at all and very cold, feel like I am eating two week leftovers with an expensive price to add to it , will be last time ordering

Really great service by staff, shame I can't say the same about the food :( Maybe you should reduce your menu options to allow you to improve the quality of the food itself - I was a little overwhelmed by the choice but went for the "Make your own Bento box" and picked what I thought I would enjoy. The fried food is very oily, too much for my stomach. Sushi burrito is a great idea, I did enjoy that. The egg fried rice had like one piece of egg in it which was a bit disappointing. Chicken katsu tasted like it came out of a factory, and I'm really not ok with eating meat that is unethical so for this reason alone I don't think I will return.

Food was nice. Its like Chinese buffet food but a bargain for what it is!

They have best portion food in budget money. Lots of varieties to experiment in your meal. Box meal is their most popular product.

Salt and Pepper Chicken was too spicy to eat unfortunately, sushi burrito was very good but couldn’t eat the chicken.

Me & my boyfriend came here for the first time. & disappointed is an understatement. The only thing good about it was the portion size. The curry sauce was watery & tasteless. Chips were undercooked. & rice was boring. The salt & chilli chicken was nice however curry sauce was only poured on the rice & it soaked it all up. Won’t be returning. What a waste of £15:(

Amazing restaurant. I’ve only used it for takeaway but it has been consistently fab. Beautifully cooked and prepared and is so tasty. I’d recommend to at least try this place. The staff are so friendly and accommodating too.

Great food at good portions, well priced and always very clean. The staff are hard workers and I enjoy visiting each day. Food is always on point and the healthy option is also worth trying.

Shocking. Food was of poor quality, overcooked and frankly, disgraceful. Tasted like it had been cooked hours before and re-heated. £32 worth of food went in the bin. Wouldn't feed it to my dog.

This is the best Chinese that I've ever had not keen on the ribs as there is nothing on them but I'm not bothered about that as food is outstanding definitely order again

Absolutely love this place I forgot to write a review the other day ! So tasty everytime I've got a sushi burrito and the garlic chicken wings or king prawns are lush, and as for the chips they are Absolutely amazing... I will definitely be ordering from here again! 😌

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Without doubt, the worst Asian food we have EVER had. We opted for the bento box - dried out chips, and everything else was freezing cold. Considering we live a couple of minutes drive away and the place was just opening when we collected, there’s no excuse; I suspect we were given the afternoon’s leftovers. The curry sauce has the weirdest, most unpleasant taste, and the rice is vile. We won’t be making the mistake of going back.

Best take away on Newcastle I drive from Sunderland to get it.

Great food at a reasonable price

Delivery was 55 minutes later than estimated. Ordered just before 8pm and turned up about 9.45pm. Driver apologised but sitting down to eat at 10pm on a Sunday is no good. Food itself was nice enough and the 11.95 deal is plenty for 2/3 people or to have leftovers. Prawn crackers expensive and weren't nice.

Nice place I had missed the lunch special but I definitely will do back to try it I opted for the salt pepper chicken evening special chicken was good quality and cooked fresh

The food is so fresh and flavourful! The Poke bowls and Sushi Burritos are delicious and the perfect meal for something that will fill you up, but not leave you feeling too heavy. I have tried other items, such as the sweet and sour chicken, and these aren’t the best. If you ignore them, and stick to the Poke bowls and Burritos, you’ll be onto a winner!

Food was fantastic, great value. Check out the bento box. Feed easily 2 people for just over £10. Really clean, nice seating area inside and outside. Very good all round, will definitely be going back. 10/10

This place is 4-5 star when the older lady makes the food and 3-4 star when the younger lady makes it. But then she's new so I don't hold it to much against her.

Usually good but won’t be going back. £12 for chips, curry and spring rolls - Asked for a small box of chips with 2 spring rolls, usually £3.80 plus a drink at £2. Used to be our everyday lunch (£13 a day, 5 days a week). Food is nice, most of the staff are lovely hence the 2 stars.

Ordered food for 19hs and arrived at 17:50, food was rehited and cold. I had high expectations for this place as I love the one in town but won't order again from here.
