UK SHALIMAR in South Kesteven

We have had takeaway food from here and it was spot on, delicious, so we took a stroll down to the restaurant for a meal, we will stick to takeaways in the future, no atmosphere, no attempt to make the restaurant attractive to customers, very run down, owner actually said, oh we concentrate more on the deliveries now 😄

worst Indian food I've ever had, chicken was tough and the curry itself was completely flavorless. Naan bread was also dreadful, cold, undercooked and zero garlic flavor. No idea why this place has such good reviews, id rather eat my own toenails.

Ordered takeway from here twice so far and food was lovely both times and done quickly, even on a Saturday. Would recommend.

Had a delivery. The worst Lamb biriyani I have ever had. Meat was tough and dry. The vegetable curry that comes with a biriyani, well I could have put some frozen mixed veg in a jar of curry sauce. Two bits of potato, was obviously not fresh made. It’s been years since I went to the Shalimar, it will be a lot more years, if I ever do , go back.

Now it's more like takeaway than a proper restaurant... Spicy is not really spicy for my taste, and knowing that food hygiene has only level 2 I'm not gonna order any more...

Ordering over the phone is not always as cheap as ordering online direct or through food hub! Chicken tikka is just rough tough chicken probably frozen,not nice

this was the second time i have visited this restaurant first time was about 12 years ago and we ate in and the food was fine this time we used it for takeout on 13th may i noticed on the website that they now do all sorts of takeout pizza burgers kebabs which i found a bit odd but still if it’s a way to make more money then that’s great for them so i ordered chicken tikka masala & chicken bhuna & rogan josh 2 x rice 2 x naans i noticed that collection time was 15 minutes from paying online which i thought was quick so i collected and noticed when we took the kids if the bhuna and rogan josh how much oil was in the curry and i got to say they was both bland and oily and the chicken was so dry the masala apparently was ok we did get large portions of rice and the naans was ok but i my opinion i wouldn’t use them again we always use gurka 91 and thought we have a change we will try the new one and montaz .

I ordered over phone which was fine but when I went to collect my food the owner's attitude completely changed as soon as he saw me. He was rude and racist, can't belive we still have people like him. I'm disgusted and appalled by his cavalier attitude.

Had a takeaway from her a while back and it was delicious ordered again tonight and it was the most tastless meal I have had. Prawn rogan josh had too much heat and no flavour swimming in oil. Very disappointed. My fiancee had lamb byriani which she asked for mild. The veg curry was mild but also flavourless. The meat and rice part was nice though. The garlic rice had loads of garlic in it but didn't seem cooked and again tasteless. Overall we are very disappointed.

Best restaurant in Bourne!!! Deffo recommend

Great food, good portion sizes with big menu, good service, average facility. No alcohol licence and the charge you to bring your own.

We ordered a takeaway to be delivered. What was it, AWFUL. TASTELESS, SWIMMING IN OIL. THE WORST CURRY WE HAVE EVER HAD COULD NOT EAT IT . DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OUR £25 WENT IN THE BIN.

Just had a take away from the Shalimar we were looking forward to a nice tasty curry what we got was a bland watery tasteless stew extremely dissapointed to say the least I would have returned it if I could have!

The most delicious Indian food I have ever eaten. Everything is so tasty. The vegetarian dishes are wonderful, for example the vegetable dhansak, and they are so generous with the vegetables and the sauce. I think about this food all the time. The staff are lovely and friendly. Eat in or take away - it's all good.

I've been using Shalimar for the last ten years and I'm pleased to say it's been consistently good. Rich and varied flavours throughout their range. However, a takeaway last night of a set menu for two was a disappointment. The lamb from the starter and main ( obviously from the same large cooked batch) was as tough as old leather that's had glue, treacle and my old flatmates gravy poured in it and left out in the sun to dry out for 3 days... If they can sort this out and get rid of this 'costcutting' exercise of precooking the lamb in large batches it'll continue to be one of the best takeaways in Bourne 😀

Awful service the place was dirty the food was cold and I complained the staff were very rude. Do not visit this place ever!!! 🤮🤮🤮

Had a delivery, it was absolutely delicious, but it was luke warm when it arrived which was a shame so ive marked down a star. Fair price, we ordered a butter chicken, korma, pilau rice and half a tandoori chicken, couldnt fault it would have paid £25ish for it and only paid £20 with a food hub voucher of £5 (I work in a takeaway and i know how long it takes for food to go cold in heat bags, i wasnt sure if it was put in one on its journey to my house but i was pretty dissapointed that it was warm) I would order from here again

Consistently good food at a reasonable price. Monday and Tuesday evening are what they call 'Banquet Night' when a set meal of your choice is available at a great price, always a struggle to finish! 😁 Good service and friendly staff. Starter, Main, Side and Rice or Nan (all of your choice from the menu) for two for less than £24

Had a takeaway, friends chicken wasn't cooked and still pink in the middle and the replacement chicken took ages to arrive and was translucent looking with a taste of soap. I had a tasteless Balti. Nann was ok. Mango Chutney was watery with very little taste. Would not recommend as a takeaway, but I have had an ok meal in the restaurant prior.

Korai - lamb was great, would have again.

Food had no real taste. Jalfrezi had no chilli in it wasn't hot at all, korma more like a butter chicken, Naan wasn't cooked properly. Took ages to arrive too.

I have been to many varied restaurants, and this is my favourite. Their Balti Special has all my favourite flavours and is a culinary treat. Very friendly, great cold beers, writing this as just booked a table for 14 from work!

A very pleasant surprise. After searching for a decent curry for myself and my partner, who is new to curry. After a search of the Internet I came across the Shalimar. What a great find! The food was excellent although portions were small making the meal for 2 over £30. That said, the food was great, service great and the leftovers taken away and consumed next day and still tasting great. Looking forward to my next visit. Give it a try.

I have used the Shalimar since 1994... the food and the service has allways been superb.
