Tynemouth Lodge Hotel in North Tyneside

A lovely traditional pub! My partner and I didn't want the action of the high street that looked like the Haymarket on a Saturday night! Just off the beaten track we stumbled across the lodge..lovely place to sit ..chill and chat,without music screaming out!

Good cask ales. No music, no dogs, no machines. Perfect for the serious drinker. However it is the most expensive pub for miles.

Proper proper pub! Cracking facade & a classic one room pub inside. Perfect pint of Bass Premium 4.4% cask conditioned beer - accompanied by a Nicholson’s pork pie! What’s not to like about that combination.

Excellent wet led pub. Beer always spot on, friendly and efficient staff. Pub is cosy, comfortable and immaculate. Only slight criticism is cask beer choice, mediocre Pedigree has replaced Bass and others mostly Hadrian and Border, which I personally find unexciting. Food restricted to bar snacks, and excellent local pork pies.

Busy little place for a Sunday afternoon.

Historic North Shields pub. Started the real ale revolution in the early 80's. Still going strong and sticking to its values. Always good cask and good chat. No music or screens. A proper friendly pub.

Great little pub with fantastic range of traditional real ales, staff very welcoming. Prices probably half of hipster pubs in Tynemouth, well worth a look if you like locals selling good beer.

A 'proper pub'. This place is a little of the beaten track from both Tynemouth front street and the Fish Quay but well worth a short walk. Lovely staff and and a great atmosphere are the selling points of this place. Beer selection is pretty standard, but they do a nice Guinness and just the place to go after a brisk winter walk through Northumberland Park or the Fish Quay.

This is the best pub in North Tyneside. Thank you to the lovely member of staff who found my scarf and made sure it was returned.

Hughie's bar ...great ales but be vary very clicky bar with the same customers for decades. But hey it's a chill zone if you like a quiet seat. Ales usually good,no emphasize the usually as the owner has little input now so it's left to Damien the manager. They support the lifeboats ...and that's wonderful news. Very clean facilities always they get 10/10 for that. Beware of gents three doors easy to navigate when sober but a puzzle when drunk lol

Stopped to meet friends, fabulous atmosphere, fabulous staff such a shame I live on the south coast I would definitely visit more if I didn't!

I come here from time to time. The staff and the atmosphere are all the best. It's nice that there's no music and it's quiet. Good decor and good drinks. No tourists. Definitely the best pub in Tynemouth.

Second visit in the last 6 month's, great pub, good atmosphere and selection of drinks. Shame to hear about Travis the cat, not the same with him not wondering around the pub. If passing on the way to Tynemouth or Shields, we'll worth popping into this pub.

Very welcoming place staff are very friendly polite and professional good choice of drinks reasonably priced and plenty of places to sit. It's a great place to go for a nice pint or two and good conversation. Was nice to see Travis the local fish Quay cat 🐈

Beautiful building, just up from the fish quay in North Shields. Take a step back in time in this wonderful little pub. It has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere with welcoming staff. Toilets are very clean and tidy. There is a beer garden and large car park to the rear. Great spot.

Having wanted to visit for a while I stopped in briefly when passing through Tynemouth on the Metro. Seemed a really friendly place, very attractive inside, with local beer options and a really great pint of Bass. A must visit pub.

Building a new bridge if you want to see the progress... Beer is good, too.

Proper pub, proper beer, proper atmosphere, just perfect. A slice of northern social history. I'm told this place can be off-putting from the outside, not my view of course, but this is one of the best pubs in the area.

Great atmosphere, lovely staff, and beer...

Nice lil old pub. Visited during Covid-19 for a quick pint and use the loo and the staff were friendly, hand sanitiser out and they were actively cleaning. Wasn't too busy and they have a lovely beer garden. Only complaint was the flush on the loo wasn't great and it meant someone who used the toilet before me hadn't really bothered and there was water (? I hope) on the loo seat.

The lodge is our local and like a lot of people, we come here for the Bass! I don't know how they condition it so well, but it's always really good. They also sell tasty Nicholsons pies if you get peckish, and there's a little beer garden hidden round the back for the summer.

No music, no TV, excellent pint of bass served with a smile. Nowhere better.

Traditional pub, very friendly staff, great beer, come here whenever I am back home in the North East. It's an institution, brilliantly unchanged, one of my all time favourite pubs. Long may it continue

This place has been and is a stalwart of the Tyneside real ale scene. Cracking place.

Friendly and welcoming pub. Very happy with selection of beer. Good to find a pub with no TV, no sport or gaming machines.

Always been a"proper" pub, clean and tidy, several ales on hand pump, the regular being draught Bass, 4.4%. Lagers and other items available. No juke box, TV not usually switched on, so nice and quiet, perfect for a good drink and social interaction. No food, but bar snacks are offered.

This is not somewhere we go regularly, but when we do go the staff are always great, it is a pub to call into, it has a homely feel to it.

Smashing old school pub up from Fish Quay and inbertween North Shields and Tynemouth. Throw back and open your paper take your time and relax there's no rush. Canny pint canny people canny cheap.

A genuine old time pub. No jukebox, piped music or gaming machines. A place where you can relax and just chat. All the bar staff are friendly and sociable and a credit to the establishment. I know I drink Guinness which you can get anywhere but the atmosphere in there is just so friendly.

Always a good atmosphere, old fashioned bar with match good & friendly service. Not the widest selection of beers, but maybe that's just to my taste (Can't think I've seen tenants anywhere else in England). Always seems full of locals which is obviously a good sign. Very reasonable prices as well.
